IT’S WITH GREAT PLEASURE ASHLEY AND I WOULD LIKE TO INVITE YOU TO OUR 22ND ANNUAL BULL SALE. Our 22nd bull sale line up has seedstock that will put profitable genetics in any herd! Raising cattle from birth to finished product has always led me to pursue raising the best seedstock I can imagine. From cows that calve on their own with vigorous calves that get up and suck that lead to the least amount of work; to calves that top auction marts; to ones that finish well, and at the end of the day I’m proud to say to others and family, ‘that steak is home raised!’ From the ground up is how the foundation is built and this herd is built on females that prove themselves year after year! Females that produce the most profitable genetics are #1 and we use the best bulls available to produce these females using all the data we can find. From the newest DNA genomic EPDs, to ultrasound, to the old school of learning through Hard Knocks. Talking with such great customers like you, I continue to learn as much as possible every year! The bottom line is beef performance and pounds pay but Quality pounds pay more! Quality in Quantity is a motto that Grandpa and Dad started and Quality in Quantity is a must for us.

and many more years of selling bull privately before, this multigenerational family operation has provided their customers with a quality product that is profitable at all levels of the industry. The Pleasant Dawn name is known in many countries around the world and for good reason. They strive to produce bulls that work on British bred commercial heifers, to bulls that have all the performance you could want. White, tan, red – the quality is in all the colours. Many of the bulls are homozygous polled if that is what you are looking for and they have paid great attention to having good EPDS. The number of bulls that have sold into purebred operations over the years is also a testament to the quality of the offering. Many of the bulls in the sale are from home-raised bulls that they have drawn semen on before selling them. This has allowed them to

We have different pastures with different quality of grass so weight can be different with equal genetics so I like to use EPDs as a tool for the benefit of greater potential. I’ll remind people that an average Charolais breed EPD for performance is really good and better performance then other breeds. Length of spine that is constantly bred into our Pleasant Dawn genetics also influences BW but not calving ease! Our bulls are beef bulls and I strive for herd sires that put the meat in your calves to top the sale barns. Also, I have put adjusted 205 day weights instead of weaning weight for more accurate pounds. As we depend on word of mouth and customer satisfaction, we will give new customers $300 off their new total purchase. Also if you bring or recommend a new customer that buys sale day, we will gift you $200 as appreciation of your support. Also, when picturing these bulls, I found the disposition of the bulls to be excellent. The sale is a video sale, held in their heated shop with the bulls displayed just outside. So, come early as the bulls won’t be coming through the ring. You are welcome to come to the farm and view the operation and the bulls anytime prior to the sale. For delivery immediately after the sale, and for bulls returning to Pleasant Dawn for future delivery, we can deliver your bulls at a cost of $75 for 200 km. We will work with you on other destinations.
We guarantee our bulls to be exportable. We will do the health testing and arrange to meet you at the border or for trucking to central points in the U.S. Export testing and trucking costs are at the buyer’s expense. Call for further details.

Pleasant Dawn Baldwin has been one of my favorites! Out on grass he had the muscle pattern I love to see on calves. His females will all be keepers as he stems from bloodlines of fertile, heavy milking, nice udders, with small teat females. I still have his great grandmother producing well at 11 years old. Baldwin could be used on select heifers with his generations of calving ease and also leave those beefy, high performance bulls. High milk, high fertility, heavy muscle, scale pushing genetics! From a past customer… Kathy and I raise beef for the consumer to enjoy, not cattle for show. We have always rail graded our finished cattle and rely heavy on EPDs. The Hatch family’s genetics have been a sound part of our crossbreeding program and has shown positive in our feedlot results. We have been through a few ups and downs in the cattle cycle and found that a solid crossbreeding program that gives us live calves that convert grass to beef and have the gut capacity to perform well in the feedlot will save us money at the end of the day. Until the consumer says they don’t like beef, I expect the Hatch’s bulls to be part of our herd. When pictured, he wasn’t even 11 months old. Out of a deep soggy Chisum mother. This guy is one of the deepest ribbed bulls I’ve seen for his age, plus he has sping of rib and width of base. Stout is a word often used but stout doesn’t do this guy credit having this length. Check out his genomic EPDs and wow! Just extra long, deep and good. Yes, his BW is up but I’m sure you could use his sire on heifers. Length = pounds = dollars. This guy is a total meat wagon. The sire of his mother, PD Empire 14A, is out of a 17year old cow that gave me 15 calves all natural and had top 1% Milk. Heavy milking females don’t normally last 17 years. High milk and high muscle are rare traits to have.

TERMS & CONDITIONS Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after
the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made.
Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale. Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final.
Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements. Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon
as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured.
Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made. Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The
purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk.
Breeder Guarantee: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze. Exception Guarantee: In case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price. Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety
and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.
By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied. By Livestock assumes no obligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestock assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. Any legal action taken in exceptional cases must be between the buyer and the seller. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfilment of all guarantees and representations.
