We are pleased to invite you to the 4th Annual Mutrie Farms/Bar H Charolais sale with Shorthorn bulls from Hawken Shorthorns and Angus from Black Ridge Angus and new this year Dual E Cattle Co. The quality of the bulls in all breeds in very strong with some of these bulls of all breeds being out at Agribition last fall being compared to the industry. With the cross section of breeds in the sale it makes this an excellent one stop shop for any breeding program. All of these operations have utilized the best in genetics in building their programs over the years. They have utilized AI and top herdbulls to make their herds better and all have had commercial cows so know what the industry needs. The bulls are not over conditioned so they will get out and go to work without melting down in pasture. There is something for everyone here from calving ease bulls to performance bulls, white to red factor in the Charolais plus the option of adding the maternal strengths of the British influence in your cowherd with the Shorthorn and Red and Black Angus bulls. There is great value in the sale so don’t pass up attending. If we can be of any assistance before the sale or on sale day, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. We would be happy to help you find a bull that is right for your program. Sincerely, Helge & Candace By Sale Manager:
Lunch will be available and please join us for complimentary coffee and doughnuts. Coffee sponsored by Horizon Credit Union.

Welcome to our 4th Annual Sale. Another year has come and gone. This past year we all saw record high sales no matter where you went. With my Dad, Richard, working at Fillmore Seeds in Glenavon, I decided to go and work down in Weyburn at the Livestock yards. It’s amazing to see all the different breeds come through the sale ring. And for me to see and talk with all the producers that consign down here. I always have to ask what they look for in their next herdsire. Most of the producers tell me they want more pounds on their calves when it comes time to sell. So when I hear that I tell them to watch our buyers in the front row and see how the spend very good money on the Charcross calves. The Charcross calves are the feedlots’ number 1 choice. At Mutrie Farms, our bulls are fed a TMR ration. We strive towards having easy calving, hair, good temperament and a good hoof, with performance. Dad and I have toured many herds over the years and have bought a select few females that we thought would be great assets over the years. The bulls we have purchased over time have so far been the right choices to improve our bull and female pen. Our bull pen this year has impressed us very much. We have a bull that will suit your needs in every aspect. So if you need to talk to us or want to come out to the farm before the sale to look at the bulls, don’t hesitate to call us. We will answer any questions you may have about our bull pen. We look forward to seeing you sale day.

I would like to thank Richard for once again asking us to be a part of this sale. We do have bulls to offer this year and they are by far our best ever. This is our first full calf crop from our Jazz bull and he has not disappointed. 5 of our bulls on Jodi Hawken • 306-429-2737 • jodihawken@sasktel.net offer are from him. He has set a high standard here and we had to do something Box 239, Glenavon, SK S0G 1Y0 to continue to improve on these great genetics, so we teamed up on the high seller at Agribition. We are looking very forward to where the combination of these two bulls will take our program. We are extremely excited to breed this spring. Stay tuned! If there are any questions about these cattle, they are working in both our commercial program as well as the few I have to dabble with at some shows. A yearling half sister to the bulls on offer was Junior Champion and Reserve Champion Female in Brandon and a half brother bull calf was Reserve Bull Calf Champion. If you have any questions, please feel free to call or come by and see the bulls prior to the sale. ~ Jodi Hawken

I hope this year finds everyone enjoying the winter as much as we are. Last February was super cold everyday for calving. This year, tractors start easy, no snow too push, and the cows eat so much less, it has definitely been a treat. The bulls were developed similar to last year, free choice whole brown oats mixed with 32% protein supplement, mineral tubs and hay, and then in the New Year we offered them free choice oat silage. They have exceeded our expectations with their performance on whole oats, but I am sure the warm weather has helped. Please feel free to call or stop by at anytime. Please also check out our facebook page for pictures, videos and updates.

A neat made bull, he has a real nice foot under him and a well made front end. A little longer bull that carries his muscle down his lower quarter very well. We bought his dam out of the highly successful Geis Angus herd in Alberta a couple years ago and she is a 3/4 sib to the successful Geis Baloo herdsire.

We would like to begin by thanking Mutrie Farms and Bar H Charolais for allowing us to be a part of their sale. 2015 was a big year for our family and farming operation. In January, we branched off from Eric’s parents’ operation, U6 Livestock, and registered our first calf crop under our farm name, Dual E Cattle Co. Spring and summer were filled with new facility development and in August, we tied the knot. Last fall, we attended Agribition for the first time under our farm name, welcomed our first load of cattle to our yard site, and learned that we would be welcoming our first child into our family this spring. Our bulls are grown out slow and steady on a bull development program consisting of an alfalfa/grass hay ration supplemented with a bull developer pellet and chelated mineral. We are very proud of the bulls we have on offer at this year’s sale! Please feel free to contact us with any questions. The maternal grandsire Odyssey left us some of the best females you’ll find anywhere. Combine that with Alana, maybe our most important cow family, you’ve got a double whammy of maternal goodness. Add in 49C’s sire Alliance, who is sound footed, good tempered, long and proud, and no matter which branch you go down, there are no bad apples in this family tree.
