group. Be it performance or calving ease, Charolais or Red Angus, we’ve got it! As far as the type, the bulls are structurally sound, moderately framed, stout, easy fleshing herd bulls with excellent temperament and thick hair coats, backed by superior cow families.

It is always a hectic time of year, but we always look forward to bull sale time. We get to reacquaint with old friends, customers and meet many new cattlemen in search of genetics to enhance their breeding program.

The genetics we offer on MARCH 13, 2018, are geared to work in any breeding program. We have concentrated on traits like calving ease, vigour at birth, sound udders, temperament and maternal qualities. Here at the farm we believe that bulls need to be able to calve but you also need to have the pay weight at weaning time. We believe that our genetics will work in any kind of environment and

we are confident that they will work for you. We would be honoured to be considered as your genetic source for your next herd bull.

I know it sounds repetitive, but I truly believe this is the best set of bulls top to bottom, that these two operations have put forth for this 7th Annual sale.

The Charolais bulls from both these operations are smooth, sound made, with lots of performance and great hair. Both operations have well planned breeding programs, using the best bulls they can find from across the country. Bulls from this sale have sold across Canada and are working in some of the top purebred and commercial herds you will find. The quality is here. This year they both did more DNA testing and if this is desirable to you, there are many Homozygous polled bulls in the sale.

The Red Angus bulls have something for everyone from calving ease, to big performance bulls, that will help you build a solid British influence cow herd. Many are by the good Triple S sire that came from the great Sibbald herd in Alberta.

These are the averages of all animals born in the last two years of the respective breeds. They cannot be compared across breed, but are a good indicator of genetic value within the breed. The lower the birth weight number, the smaller the birth weights should be. Of course, the higher the rest of the numbers, the more performance or milk they should provide.

Cuervo is a Birmingham son out of a Lanza daughter which we purchased out of Winn Mans’ last bull sale. He is thick, rugged, and easy-doing, with extremely sound feet. He has been used successfully on heifers and cows.

His calves have moderate birth weights, good feet, curly hair and are high performing.

Big Rig was a feature bull of the 2013 Winn Mans Sale. As runner up bidders, we approached Semex Alliance to purchase walking rights because of his outcross pedigree, sired by MD ONTOP U1006. He has provided calving ease with muscle shape, hair and performance. He has been used successfully on cows and heifers. They have calved with ease with reduced birth weights but the most impressive part is that the calves crushed the scales at weaning time.

He was brought into our program to be a dual purpose bull. He has done just that, working in the heifer pen as well as the cow herd. He brings calving ease while maintaining performance at the time when it counts.

His bull calves are very eye appealing with a ton of substance. The heifers are very feminine, wide based, deep bodied females that are turning into good cows.

Red Howe Moonshine 13C was brought into the program for his calving ease. But he also caught our eye because not only was his birth weight ideal for heifers, he also had a lot of growth behind him when it most counts. His first year in our program, he worked not only in our Red Angus herd but also in our replacement commercial heifer pen. All the calves so far came without a hitch and I didn’t need to lay a hand to them.

Landslide is deep bodied, with natural muscling and the hair we’ve come to expect from the Monument sons. The mother of this bull is a good milking female with a tremendous set of feet, with depth and length of body. She goes back to McTavish Sage 1X, who received the Gold Star Dam of Distinction award last year. The Sage cow family has been a very consistent producing cow family that always seems to get the job done.

Matterhorn is one of those standout Cuervo sons that have a ton of hair and a ton of meat and muscle. He comes out of the McTavish Miss 28W cow, which raised the 2013 CWA Senior Bull Calf Champion plus our 2014 high seller that went to Downeast Charolais in Belleisle Creek, NB. She is one of those cows I always look forward to seeing calve, you know it will be good.

He is the full brother to McTavish True North 113B, which sold to Triple K Charolais and Bowers Farms in 2015. He is also the maternal brother of McTavish Worth 113D that sold to Buffalo Lake Charolais last year. This just testifies of the consistency of what his mother has done for us.

Titan is a very smooth, stout made Big Rig son. This bull has impressed me a lot, hit the ground running, had a low birth weight but came in the fall crushing the scale down. This is what we have come to expect from our Big Rig calves, a bit lower birth weight but the weight is there when it really counts. His dam is a great milking female with a ton of guts. We think so highly of the mother of this bull that she will be entering the flushing program.

What a stout made Big Rig bull calf! Full Throttle is super thick and hairy. I just love how this guy profiles showing off his natural muscling and depth of body. This bull is really clean fronted and has a nice tidy head. Full Throttle is the maternal brother of McTavish Rendition 56C, the high seller sold to Bricney Stock Farms, of Maidstone in 2016.

Another great Monument son with all the things I have come to love about his sire, ample guts, natural muscling, thickness, and is structurally correct. Gunslinger is also homozygous polled and a red factor bull. Again, we cannot forget what Monument is best known for, the hair! His mother has been a good cow for us over the years. She is a big time milker with a tonne of guts. She is a 12 year old cow that looks just as good as cows half her age.

Terms & Conditions TERMS: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made.

BIDDING: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

DISPUTES: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements.

PURCHASER’S RISK: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association or Canadian Angus Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made.

DELIVERY: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk.

BREEDER GUARANTEE - BULLS: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be

reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

EXCEPTION GUARANTEE: In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.

ACCIDENTS: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.

By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied. By Livestock assumes no obligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestock assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. Any legal action taken in exceptional cases must be between the buyer and the seller. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfilment of all guarantees and representations.
