I would personally like to welcome you to the M&L Cattle Co. & Guests Production Sale.

My roots have been in the commercial cattle business and I have always held the view that good cattle are good cattle, regardless of breed. Having said that, Charolais and Simmental are my breeds of choice for the quality they offer. Along that line, I have never got too hung up on fullblood versus purebred. The bottom line for me is, we are all in the cattle business to produce quality beef. In both breeds you will see a good selection of purebred, fullblood and very complimentary crosses of the two.

There is a good selection of cattle from different calving seasons. If you haven’t done any fall calving, I encourage you to give it a try. It provides a lot of marketing and management flexibility for purebred and commercial producers.

If you are leaning towards showing cattle, there are top prospects on offer.

As I said, my roots are in commercial cattle and there is no doubt that cross breeding is where it’s at, but you must be using quality stock. If you are looking for top commercial crossbred heifers, you will not be disappointed.

With the sale theme of “Red, Black and White” the common thread will be good cattle!

As I am writing this, Helge and I have just finished picturing for the sale catalogue. The cattle have been on pasture and will be in good working condition, not show condition, but as a buyer I think that’s a good thing. You will see what the cattle can do under commercial conditions.

There is a great group of guest consignors, each of which I have dealt with personally. They all share my commitment to provide quality seedstock to the purebred and commercial producer. We are stronger when we work together and I am very thankful and happy this group has chosen to be involved.

We would like to invite you to the M & L Cattle Company and Guests production sale. We believe the cattle industry is poised for some great years ahead and this would be a place to get ready for it. There is a very good quality offering of both Simmental and Charolais cattle in this sale. Roger has used some top A.I. and walking sires and worked hard at building, buying and culling the program to raise the quality of his herd. Roger is not selling anything that he wouldn’t keep himself and is just trying to reduce some numbers and work load. He also wanted to offer the very top and thus is selling choice on his very best to give everyone a shot at some excellent genetics. This is a great opportunity for new breeders to continue on with what will prove to be some foundation animals or established breeders to add to the top of their programs. He has asked some longtime breeders to consign to this event and they are putting in some high quality animals from their herds as well. In both breeds there is something for everyone.

In the Charolais offering you will find many Full French females with the added thickness and bone, some French influence females and some polled purebreds that can go into anyone’s herd and work.

On the Simmental side there is everything from Full Fleckvieh to Reds and Blacks with attention to feet and legs and udders as a top priority. There are also some top end bull calves and a couple of proven herdsires that can take your program onward.

If you are looking for some replacement females there are some very good commercial crossbred heifers too that come from purebred genetics on both sides and are bred to good quality bulls.
