e extend a warm invitation for you to attend our 2nd Annual Bull Sale on April 4, 2013.

Thank you to our buyers and bidders at our 1st sale. Many of you traveled long distances to attend and we appreciate the effort you made. At this time, we would also like to say a sincere thank you to our family, friends and neighbors for the helping hand before and during the sale.

The future has never looked brighter for the beef industry. With beef cattle numbers at an all time low, the outlook is very positive for prices to remain strong for many years.

It pays to buy the best genetics you can. A good bull will pay for himself when you sell his first set of calves and your replacements will again raise your top calves.

This year we made a major change to our feeding regime. The bulls are on TMR (Total Mixed Ration). We are totally impressed with the athleticism and performance of our bulls. With a TMR, we know exactly what our bulls are consuming and it has enabled us to develop bulls with longevity and productivity.

Feeding: Well, it is bull sale season again and it has been an absolute pleasure working with Doug and Marianne to develop their 20122013 bull calf crop. The Hunters took a major step this year by changing to a TMR (total mixed ration) on the bull develop program.

When I balanced the rations we aim to give these young potential herdsires every possible opportunity to become old herdsires in their customer’s breeding program. We treat them like they are athletes, so we want them to be muscular without excessive fat cover. Giving them the great feet and legs needed to cover your cow herds. They move absolutely fantastic. Also when balancing the ration we ensure trace minerals and vitamins are high enough so these bulls reach their genetic potential in sexual maturation and testicular development. They are fed a high percentage of corn silage and hay along with their grain on a daily basis, this builds great hair coats, guts and capacity that are required in our enviroment. So step up and buy with confidence, knowing these bulls will get the job done for you like they have in all the past years.

This is truly a family operation with everyone pitching in to help whenever and wherever they can. Although the kids are now grown, they have been active in the Charolais Youth organization with Michael in his last year as Canadian past-president. Doug has also been very active at the association level of the Manitoba Charolais Association and has just stepped down from years on the board, of which many were spent as Secretary/Treasurer. The point being, this family is involved and very committed to the breed and the industry.

Their bull pen this year is very strong from top to bottom with everything from calving ease bulls up to big time performance bulls and everything in between. You will find something for every program with most of the bulls being polled and some red factor as well. The bulls are sound, good haired and are backed by some of the best people you will meet in the business. SEMEN TESTS All bulls will be semen tested prior to sale time. Scrotal measurements will be available sale day.

HEALTH STATUS Bulls are done as calves with Pfizer Gold—BoviGold 5FP, One Shot, Ultrabac/Somnugen before going to pasture.

They were boostered in the fall with the same vaccines and reboostered this spring with BoviGold 5FP, and Ultrachoice 8. They have also been given an endectocide twice since last fall.

The bulls have also been vaccinated against footrot with Fusogard. They have been done twice this spring but do require a booster before breeding season (especially if they are not used until later in the year.)

This son out of Roundup is definitely a pen feature. His mother is an extremely sound, long bodied, tan, Wrangler Doubleshot cow with a beautiful udder. The Roundup calves have been easy calving. Zambucca follows suit with his sire with just an 86 lb. birth weight and a -.3 on BW. Heifer approved!

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made.

Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives.

Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final.

Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements.

Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured.

Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made.

Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk.

Breeder Guarantee - Bulls: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

Exception Guarantee: In case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.

Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.

By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied. By Livestock assumes no obligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestock assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. Any legal action taken in exceptional cases must be between the buyer and the seller. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfilment of all guarantees and representations.

Insurance: Insurance will be available sale day.

Pictures: By attending the sale you are granting permission for your picture to be used for promotional and advertising purposes relating to the sale.
