Welcome to our 4th Annual Sale Everyone at Hunter Charolais would like to welcome you to our Fourth Annual Bull Sale! As we sat down to write this welcome, we reflected how the cattle industry has changed in the last year. Record prices were seen everywhere throughout the country and the optimism is contagious in our industry. It is time all of us are paid for our years of hard work and perseverance, it is long overdue and we are all more than deserving of good times. Right now more than ever, it is time to be investing in your cow herd and future calf crops. The North American cow herd is at one of its all time lows, creating an under supply of calves. We believe with this in mind good times are ahead of us. The Charcross calves have continued to top markets across Canada. These have never been in higher demand and will continue to be in high demand for years to come. We are extremely proud to offer 41 yearlings and 5 two year olds for the sale this year. These bulls were grown out with longevity and functionality in mind on a high forage TMR diet. We worked with the professional service of CDI Consulting on our bull’s rations this year. We feel that our bulls speak for themselves. The quality is deep throughout the entire catalogue and we know there is a bull to suit everyone’s specific needs. If you are interested in a specific bull, please feel free to call us to discuss the bull and what he can add to your program. If you are unable to attend, please also feel free to call us or our sale staff. We stand behind our bulls one hundred percent and believe highly in customer satisfaction and service if ever a problem should arise. The bulls are available anytime for viewing before the sale. Come early sale day to enjoy some great hospitality and see the bulls as the bulls will not be going through a ring as we sell by a video sale. A special thank you to all of the bidders and buyers from previous years and for your interest in our program this year. A huge thank you to all of our family and friends for the help through the year leading up to the sale. Cameron Isaac – Doug’s right hand man. This is his fifth winter working for us part time; we can’t express our gratitude enough for all the help he provides around the cattle — from feeding and calving to helping with the bulls.
This is the 4th Annual sale for the Hunter family and every year the consistency of the pen gets better. This total family operation has been developing this program for over 30 years. The numbers have increased in the cowherd as has the quality. By buying top end females and herdbulls, they have strived to produce a product that will work for you whether you are a purebred breeder or a commercial cow/calf producer. Last fall the females they sold in three different sales were at the top of the sale orders and sold very well across Canada showing the acceptance of the program to other breeders. Their show string at the Manitoba Livestock Expo and Canadian Western Agribition were appreciated by all who looked at the cattle. Hunters are committed to agriculture and the cattle business and will work with you to make sure you’re happy with the genetics you are buying. The bull pen is very solid from top to bottom with calving ease to big performance, white and red factor. There are bulls that will work on whatever type of cow you have. Let us help find what will work best for you. If Candace or I can be of any assistance before the sale or on sale day, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. We would be happy to help you find a bull that is right for your program. Sincerely, Helge & Candace By By Livestock • 306.584.7937 • 306.536.4261 cell

Ultimate is a bull that keeps getting better with age! He stills remains structurally flawless and is as sound as he was the day we bought him. Ultimate’s first daughters entered into production this calving season and we are super impressed. Excellent udder confirmation, piles of milk and great mothering ability. He continues to sire bulls with piles of depth and thickness, lots of hair and an awesome hip on them. The disposition’s on the Ultimate progeny is second to none. A daughter was crowned National Champion female this past fall for the Wilgenbushs of Halbrite. Sons are lots 1-10.

We purchased a semen interest in this stout son of the breeding giant Landmark at Agribition 2011, where he was crowned Junior Bull Calf Champion. We absolutely love how powerful Northstar is. He possesses a pile of natural thickness, great muscle expression and is extremely deep bodied. Northstar’s mother is the famous Starstruck 559R cow, the 2010 Agribition Supreme Champion Female. His sons are stamped with thick hair coats, tonnes of performance and are very eye appealing. Sons are lots 11-14.

We purchased Zeus out of the Elder Charolais Bull Sale where he was the high seller in 2013. We admired how long smooth made he was and still maintained the depth, thickness and stoutness that we look for in herdsires. His sons are absolute powerhouses that are as long as freight trains. They have excellent hair coats, great structure, come easy and grow like crazy. We are excited for the bright future of this young exciting herdsire. Co-owned with Wilgenbusch Charolais and Elder Charolais. Sons are lots 15‐21.

Silver Bullet keeps getting it done here at Hunter Charolais. He has proven over time to be extremely easy calving and we have used him heavily on heifers. We purchased the Pick of the Herd Flush from Clear Lake Charolais out of the Alberta Charolais Select Sale in 2011 and there was no doubt in our mind which cow we wanted to flush. The Rolling Acres Lizzie cow has been making waves in the Charolais business for years since she was high selling female at the National sale, in Regina, 2009. She is phenotypically flawless and the track record of her progeny is impressive to say the least. We absolutely love the way Ultimate and Lizzie Dam of Lots 1-4: have crossed. Basker has been a standout since day one. He is long bodied, possesses a thick hair coat and strides out soundly. His mother never misses – always raising a top end calf. Her biggest accomplishment was raising our high seller in our 2012 sale, HC Yoda 105Y, who Diamond W Charolais bought. We think this calf has an extremely bright future and will be retaining a 1⁄4 in this promising young herdsire. Retaining 1/4 semen interest.

our Fire Water daughters are really impressing us here at Hunter Charolais. They are great mothers, milk hard, have awesome udder structure and raise calves just like Backlash. Backlash is a moderate thick made son of Sanchez that will be sure to grab your attention sale day.

4th Annual Bull Sale
Two Year Olds We are totally impressed with the two year olds that we are offering for sale. They are all docile, mellow, easy doing bulls with great structure and phenomenal muscle shape. These bulls are a great option if you need to get extra cows covered. We would like it if these bulls were picked up sale day or delivered as soon after the sale as possible. For other arrangements please feel free to talk to us before the sale or on sale day.
