unter Charolais is a family business and we have been breeding Charolais for over the past 30 years. We are located on the Manitoba/Saskatchewan border just west of Roblin. As a family we believe strongly in the Charolais breed and as such have participated and supported the Canadian and Manitoba Charolais Associations and the Junior Charolais Associations. We have always encouraged our kids to become active participants in the daily decisions and operation of our business and they have become a big part of the success of our farm.

Over the years we have strived to produce sound functional females through extensive AI’ing and using the best genetics available. We don’t tolerate bad udders, poor structure or those cows that make calving just a little more “fun”. We are very proud of our cow herd—and hope that you will come to see the females that are raising the bulls in the sale.

The bulls on offer are big, hairy, rugged bulls. We are extremely pleased with the bulls on offer. As you can see from the pictures in the catalogue, the bulls have length, depth, lots of muscle and HAIR. We gear our breeding program with the commercial producer in mind. We understand that you need performance without giving up calving ease (Marianne especially knows that). We know that we have a bull to fit your program.

We stand behind our bulls a 100% and IF there is a problem, please let us know so we can solve it to your satisfaction. We know that your cows need to be bred in a timely fashion and we will strive to make that happen.

The sale will be a power point display — it is less stressful for both the bulls and the people. Come early to view the bulls, they will be penned outside the sale barn.

The bulls can be viewed at the yard any time prior to sale day. Coffee is always on and visitors are more than welcome.

elcome to the first Hunter Charolais Bull Sale and you will be impressed. The Hunters are great people who we have known for decades. We have watched the kids grow up in the Canadian Charolais Youth Association which Michael is currently president of this great organization. Doug and Marianne have been tireless volunteers in 4-H, to the CCYA conferences in Manitoba and Doug was Secretary of the Manitoba Charolais Association for years. The whole family is interested in the operation and although the kids are sometimes away from home for work or school they are still very much involved whenever possible. They have been building a great cowherd using the best bulls they could find and are producing a product that will work at all levels of the industry. They are a source for convenient performance with bulls that are sound, will get the job done and then will calve well and still give you a big pay weight calf in the fall. Come early and view the bulls as this is a power point sale and the bulls will not be coming through the ring but will be on display just outside the heated Quonset.

ABSENTEE BUYING We certainly hope you can attend our sale, but if it doesn’t work that way, please give us or one of the staff a call. We will help you find a bull to fit your program.

LATE DELIVERY Free board for bulls until May 1st, $3/day after.

All bulls being left in the care of Hunter Charolais must be insured.

SEMEN TESTS All bulls will be semen tested prior to sale time. Scrotal measurements will be available sale day.

HEALTH STATUS Bulls are done as calves with Pfizer Gold – BoviGold 5FP, One Shot, Ultrabac/Somnugen before going to pasture.

They were boostered in the fall with the same vaccine and reboostered this spring with BoviGold 5FP and Ultrachoice 8. They have also been given an endectocide twice since last fall. The bulls have also been vaccinated against footrot with Fusogard. They have been done twice this spring but do require a booster before breeding season (especially if they are not used until later in the year).

This is the first calf to sell sired by the homozygous polled Silver Bullet and they are impressive. Silver Bullet came to light as the high selling bull in the 2010 North of the 49th Bull Sale. He proved to be a very easy calving bull and was used on many first calf heifers last spring. He is more than a calving ease bull with lots of performance and thickness in the calves. They are good footed cattle carrying on the tradition of the Silverado bloodline.

Junction just continues to get it done both here and abroad. He ranks in the top 10% or higher for WW and YW and in the top 25% for milk. In Australia he ranks in the top 10% of the breed for BW, 400 DW and 600 DW. He has been used very successfully on first calf heifers who then have calves that perform. His sons still sell very well and you will want a collection of his daughters in your program..

He was a March bull that we selected from our own bull pen in the spring of 2009 to breed our heifers following our A.I. program and Jimmy’s commercial cows. Looking back that was a great decision, all of his calves were born unassisted and were very vigorous at birth.

TERMS & CONDITIONS Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made.

Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives.

Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final.

Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements.

Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured.

Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made.

Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk.

Breeder Guarantee - Bulls: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

Exception Guarantee: In case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.

Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.

By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied. By Livestock assumes no obligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestock assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. Any legal action taken in exceptional cases must be between the buyer and the seller. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfilment of all guarantees and representations.
