Welcome to our 5th Annual Sale WOW! Hard to believe this is our 5th sale. The decision to hold our own sale has been one that we have never regretted. We enjoy having everyone come to the yard and see the bulls, their dams and the sires. It gives us an opportunity to spend time with our buyers and show case what we are trying to achieve—a consistent pen of bulls with functionality and longevity built in. We are very proud of the cows that produce these bulls and would love to show them to any prospective buyer. This past year has brought some ups and downs in the cattle industry BUT the optimism we witnessed the last 2-3 years is still going strong. Charcross calves are still topping the market and commanding a premium. We are very excited with this year’s offering. From top to bottom, we have a very consistent group of bulls. We know they will work to produce top notch calves. The two year olds on offer are second to none. They are deep free moving bulls that will cover a lot of ground and a lot of cows. Again this year’s bulls were fed a TMR to develop them with longevity and functionality in mind. We have worked with Doug Allison, of Cargill Animal Feed and Nutrition, to develop the rations. The bulls are available anytime for viewing before the sale. Coffee is always on and any excuse to stop work and visit is always welcome. Come early sale day to enjoy some hospitality and view the bulls as they will NOT be going through the ring as we sell by video sale. If you are interested in a specific bull, please feel free to call us to discuss the bull and what he can add to your program. If you are unable to attend please call us or our sale staff. We stand behind our bulls one hundred percent and believe highly in customer satisfaction and service, if ever a problem should arise. A special thank you to all of the bidders and especially the buyers from the previous years and for your interest in our program this year. A huge THANK YOU to our family and friends for the help through the year and leading up to the sale. The Hunters Doug & Marianne, Jimmy & Amy, Michael & Candace • Kristi & Steve Michaleski
A Charolais family operation for over 30 Years Cameron Isaac – This is his sixth year working for us part time. Thanks for all your expertise in all you do. Welcome to the 5th Annual sale for the Hunter family. Their pen of bulls is the result of over 30 years of building a program by the entire family. The quality top to bottom is very strong as the result of having more numbers to choose from and the quality of the cowherd and the bull battery they are using. There is something for everyone here from calving ease to big performance, from white to red factor. There are bulls that will work on whatever type of cow you have. Let them help you find what will work best for you. There are some definite breeder bulls in the mix also that are worth the drive to see. Their show string at the Manitoba Livestock Expo and Canadian Western Agribition were appreciated by all who looked at the cattle. Hunters are committed to agriculture and the cattle business and will work with you to make sure you’re happy with the genetics you are buying. They know what works in the commercial industry as they have commercial cows themselves. As an added bonus this year they are offering some very good Simmental X Red Angus open heifers that will fit into the top of most herds. If Candace or I can be of any assistance before the sale or on sale day, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. We would be happy to help you find a bull that is right for your program. Sincerely, Helge & Candace By By Livestock 306.584.7937 306.536.4261 cell

We continue to use Ultimate heavily in our herd and are loving the results! The Ultimate daughters continue to impress us with their excellent udder conformation, mellow dispositions and their great mothering ability. Ultimate has sired a top notch set of bulls for this year’s sale. They are consistent in their type and make, being extremely easy fleshing and soft bodied with thick hair coats. Ultimate is as sound as ever and keeps getting it done here; we can’t wait to get more of his daughters into production.

Zeus is fast becoming Mr. Consistent here at Hunter Charolais. He is siring long bodied, stout made bulls that push down the scale. His calves have thick shaggy hair coats, are born easy and grow like crazy. His first daughters entered into production this year are we are highly anticipating their calves. Zeus has flawless feet and leg structure and he is very sound. We have begun to use Zeus on our Ultimate females and the results are awesome, look for lots more of this cross to come in future years.

We bought Canyon to add a shot of red colour to our herd. He has proved himself to be a curve bending sire with awesome calving ease and impressive growth. His sons continue to impress us with their thickness, depth and length of body. He ranks in the top 5 percentile of the breed for his BW, WW and YW EPD. Use his sons to add performance without giving up calving ease.

We used Ledger as an outcross on our heifers and a select group of cows in our herd and we are ecstatic with the results. His calves came extremely easy with excellent vigour at birth. They have grown well and continue to impress us with their natural muscling, docility and excellent structure. Ledger ranks in the 2nd percentile of breed for his BW EPD. It’s hard to miss his sons in the pen, they definitely have that “herdbull” presence around them.

Cutlass has been a standout since day one, he is a super soft, stout made individual that is very eye appealing. Cutlass’s mother comes from our biggest cow family, the White Glory cow family, that always consigns a top-end bull every year to the sale. 757T is a consistent producer having 3 other sons going through the sale. Cutlass moves very well and has excellent structure. You don’t find them every day with this type of power built into an eye appealing package.

Cadillac is an absolute tank of an individual, we love how stout and big topped he is while maintaining a strong top line. His mother is still going strong at 10 years of age with a flawless udder. She has been a cornerstone female in our program producing numerous sale bulls and high sellers with a highlight being HC Yoda 105Y the high seller out of our sale in 2012. She is also the granddam to Lot 30 in the sale. Cadillac has a quiet mellow disposition and gets out and moves extremely well. We intend to draw semen and use him in our program. We are super impressed with the job this two year old cow did on Cross Fire. When you get the chance to analyze this individual you will appreciate how powerful and thick he is while still maintaining smoothness through his front end and shoulders. He has impressive testicular development and is super long bodied. Don’t pass by this front end prospect.

Catalyst is stout soggy calf that is hard not to notice when you walk through the pen. We love the smoothness of shoulder and eye appeal our Ledger calves have been displaying and Catalyst is no exception. Catalyst’s mother is absolute tank of a cow that is a family favourite. Catalyst stems from the same cow family as Lot 25, Cowboy.

Herd Bull Alert! We just love how Cabaret is put together in an extremely attractive, eye appealing package. Cabaret has a showy hip, with a big strong top line and has impressive muscle shape. He has that “herdbull” look for sure. Cabaret’s grandmother 437P is the mother of HC X-Empt 20X, who did an awesome job at the Jordan River Charolais Operation. He is one of our favourites this year.

Canon is jam packed with maternal power. We have multiple Sanchez females in production and couldn’t be happier with how they milk and mother. Canon has two maternal sisters working at the Borderland Cattle Company. We love the muscle shape, length of body and how smooth made Canon is. He has a thick hair coat and moves very soundly.

We are extremely impressed with the two year old bulls we have on offer this year. They are sound, athletic, free moving bulls that can get extra cows covered for you. They are all thick, deep bodied individuals that are ready to go out and work hard for you. We would like these bulls were picked up sale day or delivered as soon as possible after the sale. For other arrangements please feel free to talk to us prior to the sale.

Collateral’s dam was purchased out of the Best Of Dixon Farms Online sale in 2011. We felt that this female had some serious potential being out of one Dixon’s most successful females they campaigned on the show road, the impressive DF Pure Gold daughter, Addictive 3S. Collateral is a super impressive individual displaying a pile of thickness, an expressive hip and he has excellent length of body. He had a very successful show career this fall, being named Reserve Grand Champion Bull at the Brandon Ag-Ex and Senior Division Bull Calf Champion at Canadian Western Agribition. He is also a paternal brother to this year’s CWA Grand Champion Shorthorn Bull both being sired by JSF Top Hand. He stands up on a big set of feet and is very sound. With him being the only Shorthorn in the sale, the quality is definitely there and he is a big time performance machine. A must see for any discerning cattlemen, purebred or commercial. Commercial Open Heifers We expanded our herd with a purchase of a group of commercial Red Angus Simmental heifers in the fall of 2014 from Bary Sawchuk. We were super impressed with the job that these first calf heifers did on their calves and have decided to offer for sale some of the replacements off of these females. They are sound easy doing females that will be sure to have great udders and milk well. On offer also are three tan replacement heifers out of Red Angus females sired by KCM Ultimate. We can’t say enough good things of what our Ultimate females are doing here. These females will sell in groups of three. We would like these females to be picked up sale day or soon after. Delivery can be arranged also.
