Welcome to our 3rd Annual Charolais Bull Sale o all our repeat buyers and all those who are first time attenders we T welcome you to our third annual Gilliland Bros Charolais sale. Our sincere thanks to all buyers, bidders, friends, sale staff, and family members who have worked with us to arrive at this day. It is your support that allows us to live out our dream by striving to produce top quality bulls to work for you our customers, and ultimately put more money in your pocket. At present we are experiencing lots of excitement in the beef market, record prices registering across the country with Charolais calves standing at the top. If you are considering a charolais bull, today is the day to take the plunge and discover what this breed will do for you. You will not be disappointed. We are sure all cattlemen would acknowledge that weatherwise 2013 was a challenge. With ourselves, the grass was poor until mid August, and the corn silage was harvested much later than hoped and therefore the bull pen was started on the TMR (totally mixed ration) late in December. We believe performance and natural thickness is found here genetically and does not have to be fed into the bulls.

Finally, this year we are moving our sale to our ranch, and it will be a power point sale.

All are welcome to drop in anytime, the bulls will be on hand for viewing prior to and on sale day. Our herdsires and the dams are but a few steps away from the sale barn and can also be seen. We encourage everyone to come early to scout out the pens. If anyone is interested but are unable to attend we hope you will trust either of us or our sale staff to look for you and handle your bids. The Gilliland Bros. have spent many years building a quality herd using the best bulls they could find. The offering this year is the result of that determination and there are bulls here that will fit every need. The bulls have been selected for calving ease, but still have performance, meat and hair.

Last fall they went on the show road and showed that their cattle compare and compete with the best, having a Reserve Senior Bull Calf Champion coming out of a bull and female they both bred and raised. They have in the past had other Agribition champions as well, which is no easy feat. Bottom line is these are top quality genetics with bulls that will fit your budget. Most of the bulls are polled and there are some red factor ones if that is what you are looking for.

This is their 3rd Annual Sale and please note it has moved to the home place just west of Carievale. Come early, enjoy their hospitality, view the bulls and their sires if you like, and have lunch before the power point sale. These sales are relaxed and will be in the heated calving barn for your comfort.

This bull has been our main heifer bull since purchasing him in 2010. Both his dam and his sire have produced very successful progeny. Strong polled genetics here and his calving has been trouble free. Legend is a breeding machine and rarely misses a female. His first daughters are now milking and doing a great job on their calves. His sons were very well accepted at last year’s sale, and this year’s sons look great with a couple of them right at the top of the pen again.

Our second high seller from 2011 going to Char-Maine Ranching, of Cardston, AB. You couldn’t help but notice him even before entering the pen. One of, if not the most powerful bulls we have ever raised. We have not done much AI’ing over the years, but we have made an effort to incorporate Hombre back in our program. Note his two sons were in the top 5 weaning weights of this pen.

Primetime has a lot of good about him, we especially like this guy’s BW numbers and his different pedigree. He comes from a different program than ours where they calve later on the grass but also strive to produce quality.

Primetime is a very impressive looking bull! He is long bodied, good footed, and is really clean sheathed. We used him even heavier after seeing his first bunch of calves.

Charolais Bull Sale

TERMS & CONDITIONS Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made.

Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final.

Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements.

Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured.

Certificate of Registration: Each registered animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association or Canadian Angus Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made.

Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk.

Breeder Guarantee - Bulls: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

Exception Guarantee: In case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.

Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property. By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied. By Livestock assumes no obligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestock assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. Any legal action taken in exceptional cases must be between the buyer and the seller. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfilment of all guarantees and representations.

Insurance: Insurance will be available sale day.

Pictures: By attending the sale you are granting permission for your picture to be used for promotional and advertising purposes relating to the sale.
