Welcome to the Elder Charolais 14th Annual Bull Sale.

Another year has rolled past us and we welcome you to the Elder Charolais 14th Annual Bull Sale. We had some big landmarks as we celebrated Keanan’s graduation, Klay obtained his learner’s license and Cassidi joined the work force. We celebrated the success of Elder’s Kapone 2111K being the 2023 National Junior Bull Champion and slapped National Grand Champion Bull at Manitoba Ag Ex. We received the Reserve Charolais Junior Futurity Female at Agribition with Elder’s Design 3157L . We enjoyed the company of international guests from Mexico and Austrialia. We were blessed to have a crop to cut and the pasture held on until October (sort of) when the cows came home. Weather has been such a big factor all over the province.

We believe the 2024 Bull Sale catalogue will present to you a phenomenal set of bulls and we would be more than happy to show you around the pen at any time prior to the sale. Charolais sired calves are bringing a premium in the auction barns, and more and more cattlemen are switching to Charolais bulls to sire their calf crop. We do feel in this year’s offering, our bulls will give you the “return on investment” that you need in this highly inflated, fast paced world we live in. Our goal here at Elder Charolais remains the same in our desire to work hard to provide the genetics that will provide you, our customer, with top quality bulls that meet your needs. We breed for calving

ease, performance with lots of muscle and good bone, as well as strong testicle development, lots of hair and of course last but not least really good dispositions. In return, we believe that using Charolais bulls will get more loonies in your Levi’s, jingle in your jeans and pennies in your pockets.

Our bulls are on a TMR ration of barley silage, hay and 14% pellets with a chelated mineral package. Our bull guarantee is simple – if things don’t pan out (as sometimes happens), a call to us will ensure we do our very best to get your cows covered for you.

If you are a newcomer to our bull sale, please note that we have video footage of the bulls on-line to provide you with an opportunity to see them on the move prior to the sale in the event you cannot make it here in person. The bulls are sold on sale day by video, so if time permits, please arrive early and we will be happy to take you through the pens to see the bulls and answer and questions.

2023 Highlights

Charolais toured some international guests in the fall and sold heifers to Mexico.

Elder Charolais Inc. donated a heifer calf to be auctioned at the Agribition Sale to raise funds for the upcoming 2024 CCYA National Conference and Show being held in Swift Current. The Scott family, Olds, Alberta, won the heifer and plan to show her at CCYA, then auction her off to raise funds for the 2025 CCYA event in Alberta. The initiative raised almost $35,000 for the Saskatchewan Charolais Youth Association.

Elder’s Design 3157L was Reserve Junior Heifer Calf Champion at Canadian Western Agribition in Regina.

Elder’s Dalyce Rayel 178J was Senior Champion Female at Canadian Western Agribition.

Elder’s Kapone 2111K was named Junior and Grand Champion Bull at the National Charolais Show held during the Ag-Ex Show in Brandon, Manitoba

What an Impressive Bull pen from top to bottom, I believe this is their best yet.

This is their 14th Annual Bull Sale and over 30 years of producing top quality bulls for the industry. This operation has been competitive at all levels of the cattle business. They are producing performance, meat bulls that help the commercial producers including their own commercial calves top the market. They are producing bulls that purebred breeders from across North America have used to improve their cowherds and bull pens. They have produced National Champions and cattle that have went on to become champions for their new owners.

Utilizing embryo transplant and the best sires they can, they have a consistently high-quality product. There are embryo full brothers to some high selling bulls working in the purebred herds and many brothers by Houlio, Honky Tonk, Raindance and this year Tanks out of first calf heifers that are also features.

You are dealing with a great family that will stand behind their product as witnessed by the number of repeat customers that come back year after year. Whether you are a seedstock producer or a

We acquired Commissioner from Wienk Charolais of Lake Preston, South Dakota. His calves are all long in the spine, solid square hip, nice head, lots of hair and a good temperament. Commissioner is one of the easiest calving bulls to date that we have had in our bull pen. He follows it up with performance. Commissioner sired the Reserve Grand Champion Female as well as the Sr. Bull Calf Champion at Farmfair 2019 in Edmonton. TERMS & CONDITIONS

Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made.

Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final.

Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements.

Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured.

Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made.

Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk.

Breeder Guarantee: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

Exception Guarantee: In case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.

Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.

By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied. By Livestock assumes no obligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestock assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. Any legal action taken in exceptional cases must be between the buyer and the seller. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfilment of all guarantees and representations.
