The Doll Ranch has had the privilege of knowing a very special, kind and caring man. From the beginning TR (Terry Robinson) has been a friend and mentor to us all. TR helped set up our father’s (Joe Doll) very first production sale in February, 1980. When they were trying to come up with a name TR suggested the name The Double Header, which he was very proud of when Joe agreed to use it. He was the greatest of mentors; he helped take pictures, set up the sale book and sale order. He continued to aid us for many years. I remember one year when we were taking pictures TR became frustrated with the herd of farm cats interference. It was an extremely cold and icy day and TR lined up to kick one of the cats out of the way. To his surprise he slipped on the ice missing the cat and injured his ankle. He said he was ok. We continued to take pictures but shortly after he looked at me and said I don’t think I’m ok, I think I need to go to the hospital. I told him to give me a minute to wrap everything up because everyone was gone and I would take him in. He refused my assistance and said he would be fine to drive himself. That’s our TR a man in pain but didn’t want to inconvenience me. I called to check on him to find out what the damage was only to find out he had broken his ankle. He sported that boot cast and tolerated the fun loving jabs for about six weeks to several months. Back in the year that TR, chose to fly to bull sales, we would catch a ride with him. It would cut down on the travel time but it was quite the ride. One time we landed in a field and taxied right up to the yard to talk to a client then headed off to the sale. The freezing ride home from the Denver Stock Show was an experience Harv will never forget. Terry would be at the farm taking pictures sometime while we were butchering and he would sample the sausages that were being made. He even shared recipes from his dad that have become part of our butchering line up. Terry was a good, honorable man. He was a man of passion when it came to his job, whether it was to take pictures, driving for miles through a snowstorm to get to a sale to be a ring man or helping with your advertisement needs. The love he had for his wife, children, and grandchildren shone through in everything he did. We have missed our mentor and dear friend. TR you are in our thoughts and prayers. Dear Friends and Livestock Producers, It's a great pleasure to invite you to our 34th annual Production Sale. The sale date is Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. CST. First we would like to thank all of our old and new customers. We really appreciate your interest in our seed stock in our sale, and we really hope everyone is well and had a great year. Boy what a year for cattle prices, never in our lives have we seen anything like it. It looks good for many more years to come. I believe everyone should be very excited. With that in mind we belive the cattle that we have for sale should be the answer. It takes pounds to make money. We breed the Charolais bulls for pounds making a terminal cross. Our Simmental are bred for pounds and maternal, we believe the 90 Charolais bulls will do that. One of the best set of bulls will be offered, but we also know it takes a powerful cow herd. We are offering 65 top-notch Simmental bulls with black and red pedigrees, they are powerful from top to bottum. Again, the cow herd is a big part of it. We will be offering a few open heifers right from the top of the replacement pen. We feed a total TMR ration consisting of grain, corn silage, mixed chopped hay and distillers. We would like to thank DeWayne Siebrasse for helping us with rations. I believe he will be at the sale and will answer questions. Back to the cattle, we try to raise the ones that calve easy and grow fast with carcass traits. Again, it also starts with a great cow herd. We believe we have one of the best around. We are retaining the right to collect any bull in the sale to use in our herd. This will be done at the seller's cost and the convenience of the buyer. He is sired by a bull we purchased from WLB Livestock out of Canada. We lost him due to injury. This will be the only set of calves. We really liked his offspring. The last two lots in the sale (Lot 154 and 155.) Two very interesting, powerful Moonshine sons. DCR MR Moonshine X102 sure did cause a scene at the TNT Simmental 28th Annual Bull sale. His sons averaged well over $20,000 that day. A bull that puts so much in his calves. The mother is one of our donor cows. We really think she was the most complete Ribeye daughter we raised. She has so much capacity and a super udder. On her natural calves she has a 108 ratio on weaning wt. They are in the top 35% or more in WW, YW, Milk, MWW, CW, Marbling and Shr. They are made a little different. Z903 is a more soggy, deep-bodied, and is super thick with the Red color. Z905 has more eye-appeal, but still has tremendous length, super thickness and that great depth. P28 has lot 146 in the sale. Granddam M15 has Lot 96 in the sale.
