Welcome to our Second Annual Bull Sale! Where did the time go? It doesn’t seem like a year ago that we hosted our first bull sale, yet, here we are. We are very grateful to those of you who supported our first sale and helped to make it a success. This has given us confidence that we can provide an excellent buying experience for our customers. We are confident that you will be able to fill your buying needs with our consistent group of bulls. Whether it be a yearling from our winter calving herd or a two year old out of our spring calving herd, we know these bulls will work for you. We hope to have provided such a consistent group of bulls that you find it difficult to make your picks. Our customers have always asked us for calving ease, yet its performance that counts at sale time. As you view our bulls you will notice the thickness and depth that brings performance, yet look again and you will still see that smooth shoulder that brings calving ease. When you go through the catalogue you will notice that some of the bulls have a PH tattoo. These bulls were bought with their moms as cow-calf pairs back in 2015 out of the P & H Charolais herd. We were very fortunate to pick a select group of cow-calf pairs out of Corrine’s herd. Our Win-Win program just seems to get more popular every year, so we put up another two rows of pens to accommodate more calves in our feedlot. We strongly believe in our bulls and we prove it by buying their offspring to feed out. At Coyote Flats, we don’t just want to sell you a bull, we want to be your partners in the cattle business. We hope you can attend our sale, enjoy a BBQ beef lunch, some good company and bid on some exceptional Charolais bulls. ~ Mark and George Lohues

Welcome to the Coyote Flats 2nd Annual Bull Sale have lunch and check out the bulls as they won’t be running through the sale ring.
If you were at their first sale, you know how high the quality of bulls on offer is. If you weren’t there last year you need to come and have a look. The two year old bulls are not left overs, but are from a designated spring calving group of females and the yearling bulls are from a designated winter calving herd.
If you haven’t used a Charolais bull before, you need to give it a try and see the advantages that crossbreeding will give you. Once again, the Charcross calves were setting the standard for the feeder sales last fall and with the number of producers putting Charolais bulls on their black cows, we are going to see the silver revolution put money in your pocket. Quality and performance will always top the market and starting with the best bull battery you can, will pay you dividends for many years.
Both groups of bulls are smooth made bulls that will calve well but give you the added performance that everyone needs to be profitable. The bulls are sound, well grown out with plenty of substance and hair. There are bulls for everyone with some for the most discriminating purebred or commercial producer. Many half brothers will afford you some consistency in your calf crop if you need multiple bulls.
If Candace or I can be of any assistance before the sale or on sale day, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. We would be happy to help you find a bull that is right for your program. Sincerely, Helge & Candace By
The Lohues know all aspects of the cattle business having a herd of commercial cows as well as a great feedlot. They like to feed cattle from their bulls and thus the unique Win-Win program they offer.

“W IN – W IN ” PROGRAM
“Every bull sold comes with a bid on your calves in the fall” This program was developed so that we could become your partner in the cattle business. A successful partnership must benefit both parties.
You Win
We Win
• Excellent sale price: We pay top dollar for the calves that enter our feedlot. We can also offer to contract your calves during the summer months. • Less stress: On the day you wean your calves you already know your price and don’t have to worry about what price you are going to get or what the weather is going to do. No worries about calves getting cut out because of a minor problem or off color. We are also flexible on delivery times and dates. • Less shrink: We have a government inspected scale. The calves are weighed on the truck and the shrink is determined on a sliding scale based on distance from our feedlot. • No sales commission: All that you pay for is the brand inspection and the trucking to get your calves to our feedlot. • Pride: You can come back at anytime to the feedlot and have a look at how your calves are doing.
• Healthier calves: Calves are less stressed, therefore, they stay healthier. • Performance: We get large groups of calves that the packers are looking for and we know they will perform and yield among the best in the industry. • Management: We are able to track the performance of our different bloodlines from weaning to slaughter. We are also able to help you with vaccination decisions so we can vaccinate the calves in the same way when they arrive at our feedlot. • Feedback: We are able to give you feedback on performance and health of your calves.

2ND ANNUAL BULL SALE
Nutrition Service Associates The goal of any progressive seedstock producer is to generate cattle that combine a strong genetic base with phenotypic traits that enhance their clients’ breeding programs. Although by the time an animal is born their genetic potential is already determined, phenotypic traits can be highly impacted by the environment and nutritional conditions in which they are raised. Therefore, developing a nutritional strategy that positively impacts an animal’s growth and reproductive potential is paramount to a purebred breeder’s operation. Coyote Flats have implemented a nutritional program based on precisely balanced rations that contain enhanced levels of protein and chelated trace minerals, combined with optimal levels of energy using high-roughage, low starch feedstuffs in order to allows the bulls to express their genetic potential for growth while not putting on an excessive amount of body condition. You can rest assured that these bulls will be in excellent breeding condition at sale time so they can step right into their roles of adding pounds and profitability to your program. Should anyone have any questions regarding the nutrients and ingredients used within the bull diets, please feel free to contact any of us. We’d be more than happy to speak with you. Sincerely, Aaron Grant Ph.D., P.A.S. & Scott Schake Ph.D., P.A.S. • Nutrition Service Associates January 19, 2017 To whom it may concern, This year marks the second annual bull sale that Coyote Flats Charolais has put together and once again, on behalf of the veterinarians at the Coaldale Veterinary Clinic, I am very pleased to provide some insight into the health practices of this organization. I have had a close working relationship with them for over 20 years and in all my dealings with Coyote Flats Charolais I have found them to act with a great deal of integrity and good faith towards their customers and towards the beef industry in general. I have found Mark to be very conscientious with respect to the health of the cattle that are on the farm, and those that are to be sold. Vaccinations are carried out in a timely manner to help prevent disease in the individual animals as well as in the calves that are raised. All cows receive a 5-way (IBR, PI3, BRSV, BVD Type I & II) modified live virus vaccine pre-breeding to protect the fetus from infection with IBR or BVD. This program is started while the cows are still calves, so all mature cows have received at least 2 doses of the 5-way viral before first conception and then annually pre-breeding after that. When the calves are born they are initially given an intranasal IBR, PI3, BRSV and an intranasal Mannheimia hemolytica and Pasteurella multocida for protection against respiratory illness. At branding time the calves are given a modified live 5-way viral to continue this protection, as well as an
8-way Clostridial vaccine that also contains Histophilus somni. The 5-way viral and the 8-way Clostridial vaccines are boosted at weaning time and then the heifers are given the 5-way viral pre-breeding. This program provides maximum protection for the calves against respiratory disease as well as protecting the fetus from BVD infection and abortion from these viruses. The bull calves go through this vaccination program as well and before leaving the farm they also receive Fusogard and the booster for protection against footrot during the breeding season. Coyote Flats Charolais has a comprehensive herd health program and have invited the Coaldale Veterinary Clinic to work closely with them in all aspects of their cattle operation. This involves everything from pregnancy diagnosis and breeding soundness evaluation of the bulls, to regular herd health visits for examinations of sick animals, and also training purposes. We are also involved in the feedlot aspect of this farm and in the past, many of the calves that have been inducted into the feedlot have been purchased from producers that have sourced their bulls from Coyote Flats Charolais. This close working relationship has proven beneficial for the cow/calf producer as well as Coyote Flats Charolais. The Lohues family is always interested in developing more of these relationships with producers that are purchasing bulls and would welcome any inquiries regarding providing calves for sale to the Coyote Flats Charolais feedlot and vaccination and health protocols for the cows and calves from these herds. It has been a privilege to work closely with Coyote Flats Charolais in all aspects of cattle health. Sincerely, Carl Dueck DVM
Something to Consider A cow should be able to have a calf which is 7% of her body weight. This is the national average. 1,400 lb cow equals 102 lb calf 1,800 lb cow equals 126 lb calf So a calf that is 115 lb out of a larger cow should give you no problems when bred to a smaller cow, as he is less than the 7%. The other factor is that the cow’s genetics and feed is more responsible for calf size than the bull. Pounds at birth equals pounds at weaning. Don’t short change your profits by selecting too small of birth weight bulls.

2ND ANNUAL BULL SALE
Terms & Conditions Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made. Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale. Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final. Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements. Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured. Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made. Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk. Breeder Guarantee – Bulls: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported
in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze. Exception Guarantee: In case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price. Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property. By Livestock assumes no obligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestock assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. Any legal action taken in exceptional cases must be between the buyer and the seller. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfilment of all guarantees and representations.
