Welcome to the 2019 edition of the Cornerview Bull Sale. Last year’s change to hosting a video sale at the farm with the bulls just outside the door for viewing received good feedback so we’re continuing with that format. We also have LiveAuctions broadcasting the sale online again for anyone who is unable to attend in person.

This group of bulls offers a variety of genetics but holds true to the Cornerview stamp of what we think the beef industry is all about—unassisted vigorous calves at birth.

Genomics increases accuracy of EPDs

Not wanting to rest on our laurels, and wanting to make sure we provide all the tools available to help you select the right bull for your needs, we’ve added new information this year.

The Canadian Charolais Association now offers the option to add the results from DNA analysis to EPDs along with pedigree, individual and progeny performance.

“The addition of DNA analysis significantly improves the Accuracy of EPDs. When you study this catalogue, you will see that these genomic-tested young bulls have improved accuracies compared to non-genomic tested bulls,” Douglas Blair, BSc, Agriculture.

For example: Birth Weight around .60 compared to .38, Weaning Weight .40 compared to .26, and Yearling Weight .31 compared to .16. This improvement in Accuracy is comparable to bulls that have 15+- progeny, lending you extra confidence in the EPD numbers. We hope this additional data is helpful.

• Bulls sell under the standard terms and conditions set out by the Canadian Charolais Association.

• Please make all settlements immediately after the sale.

Bull health

• All bulls will sell with a vet examination and semen test to ensure that you are purchasing a quality herd bull.

• Additional performance data will be available on sale day.

• The Cornerview vaccination program is Pyramid 5 plus Presponse live vaccine and bulls will receive Blackleg + HS booster at sale time.

• Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue.

Delivery

• Please talk to us if you require delivery after the sale. Shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk.

• We will keep bulls until April 30 free of charge. As of May 1, a boarding fee of $3.00 per day applies. We are not liable for the bulls after the sale and ask that you insure any bull remaining at the farm.
