It is with great pleasure that we offer the heart of our white females that will calve January to March, along with our annual bull sale. We have decided to offer ALL of our bred heifers,1st calvers and 2nd calvers, nothing held back so you can buy with confidence . Females sired by and bred to reputation bulls with pedigrees and EPDs .Our purebred herd is ranch run with no nonsense females with great udders and dispositions. We have sold rancher bulls for 34 years and still have the original 2 bull buyers purchasing bulls from us today. We listen to our customers and watch the results of their calves and have found to focus on easy calving polled bulls that are curve benders with very good performance. Today the ranches are bigger and the time to mess with calving cows is done. These are exciting times for Charolais producers as Charolais sired calves are demanding premiums, and putting that much needed cash into the producers pockets. We are seeing a greater demand from cow calf producers who have never used a Charolais bull and realize it is time to add them to their bull battery. This truly is a great offering of not only the quality bulls that they have been providing the industry in all colours of the Charolais breed, but also of the females. Steve wanted to showcase a piece of his breeding program and thought that offering all the bred heifers, first and second calvers from his white herd was a great way to do it. You, the buyer, have the opportunity to get into every cow family and truly the heart of his young females with this sale. The milking females this summer showed me how sound, productive and good uddered they are. The genetics here are time proven and will fit into any program across the land. The hills in their pastures are not for unsound cattle and over the year’s this herd has been culled hard for all profitable traits. On the bull side, many of you that have been repeat customers have come to expect the high quality offering year after year. Yearlings: Bulls will be kept at Char-Maine Ranching until needed in the spring of 2017. They will be semen tested and delivered free of charge up to 500 km or nearest point of entry. Bulls wintered at Char-Maine Ranching must be insured for mortality. Mortality insurance will be 6% of purchase price.
Two Year Olds: Coming two year old bulls will be semen tested prior to sale. Delivery on Two Year Olds ONLY – If you would like to bring your trailer and haul your bull(s) home sale day we will deduct $100 per bull, or we will deliver your bull(s) up to 500 km or nearest point of entry at no cost as soon as possible after the sale.

The cattle are available at the ranch, 1.5 miles south of Cardston, for your viewing until December 14th, at which time they will be moved to Southern Alberta Livestock Exchange and will be available there for your inspection until sale time at 1:00 p.m., December 16th.

Sight Unseen Bull Purchase Program
Right to Semen: Char-Maine Ranching retains the option to collect semen on any bull sold in the sale at a future date for their in-herd use only. This would be at the seller’s expense and at the owner’s convenience.

We purchased LT Lanza 1427 from Linskov Thiel in the Reference Sire: Lt Lanza 1427 PLD spring of 2012, planning on him being a heifer bull for us. Well that he is, but has become so much more! CE 98.3 BW -1.9 WW 46 YW 95 M 29 TM 52 LT Lanza has become the bull that does it all for us here at Char-Maine. He is moderate framed, easy calving, homozygous polled, quiet,and his calves perform! His calves are so consistent in type and make up that you can pick them out so easily. As people walk through the bulls and females, they can hardly believe how consistently he stamps his offspring with nice heads and smooth made bodies with muscle and spring of rib. Then his daughters began to calve and oh my. Broody, moderate cows, with perfect dark udders that are raising great calves themselves. And why not, he is sired by Winn Mans Lanza and out of the great LT Brenda's Ease 3055 cow, who is also the maternal grandmother to LT Ledger. We cannot get enough LT Lanza calves and still use him on 35 cows naturally in the spring and 35 naturally in our summer program along with AI to heifers which are not his daughters. It is great when a potential bull buyer comes to you and says he wants a bull with real good performance but has to be easy calving, and I can say, buy a Lanza son and you will have exactly what you want. This select group of coming two-year olds were born May-August and are a nice set of slow grown bulls that have only received a grain ration the last two months. They have been bucket fed to insure that they are quiet and easy to handle. These “summer” bulls will be ready to do a great deal of work next season and are not picked over bulls!

If you want to bring your trailer and take your bull home we will deduct $100/bull or we will deliver them to you at no charge as soon as possible after the sale. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale. Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final. Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements. Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured. Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Charolais Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made. Breeder Guarantee – Females: As per the Canadian Charolais Association Code of Ethics. Copies are available at the settlement desk to be picked up by the buyer at any time.

Exception Guarantee: In case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price. Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property. By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied.
