On behalf of Lori, Kylie, Brian and myself at Cedarlea Farms, I extend a personal invitation to the “Git ‘R Done” Bull Sale April 4th. We are very pleased to be part of the sale and thank Collin, Michelle and Hillary for the opportunity to work with them at Windy Willows Farm.

Charcross calves were at the top of the order buyers list this past fall and through the spring sales. Solid markets for tan, buckskin and silver calves will continue as they provide feeding efficacy, exceptional growth and topnotch carcass traits… it’s always been a good time to be in the cattle business and now it’s a great time to use Charolais bulls.

We are very excited to offer two new sire groups: Rome, the Agribition and Edmonton Farmfair Grand Champion bull and Kingston, a half-brother to our perennial favorite Reno bull. Both have sired a strong useful set of bulls. We again have an outstanding group of Legend sons that will give you exceptional calving ease with above average growth. You will find useful and valuable bulls in our other sire groups – Grid, Pastor, Apache and Rolex.

The bulls have performed very well this year, health wise and weight gain through to sale time. Once again we are happy to provide ultrasound data which confirms the strength of the genetic package providing a strong natural tendency to add muscle and increase yield. Many of the bulls in the sale are out of our super producing RBC Supreme Champion Gridmaker daughters and

long-lasting powerhouse Detonator daughters.

The Cedarlea bulls and our cowherd have been on a full herd health program and are enrolled in the Boehringer Ingelheim Express Verified Plus program.

The program guarantees there are no BVD PI bulls in our sale offering and each bull comes with a six month health warranty. All the Cedarlea bulls are vaccinated to protect their testicles from infection with BVD virus. We stand behind our bulls 100% and want to know how the bulls are working through the breeding season.

We are very pleased with the sale offering this year. So often we hear that the bulls being offered for sale are much better than the previous year. We sincerely believe that this year’s bull pen is stronger, more uniform and consistent top to bottom. Come join us and “you be the judge” of the bulls on offer.

As you go through the catalogue, you have to be impressed with the quality of the offering. There are front end pedigrees by the very proven Kingston and Legend and the first offering from the 2016 Agribition Champion Charolais and Supreme Top Ten Finalist Rome. There are other sons by the tan Kingston son, Apache; some by the No Doubt son, Rolex; some by the 2013 high selling Pastor and a few still by the 2011 Agribition Supreme Champion Gridmaker.

The bulls are again well grown out and are very sound, with excellent hair and very quiet dispositions. The sire groups give you the uniformity that is so valuable when you go to sell your calves at the market. If you are looking for a homozygous polled bull, there are 17 DNA tested that in the sale. There is ultrasound data available on the bulls if you want to look under the hide as well. Phenotypically and genotypically, this is a great set of bulls.

This sale affords you the best of both worlds with some top Red and Black Angus from the quality herd of Windy Willow to make the British influence cowherd that is so desirable in a crossbreeding program. You then have the Charolais bulls to make the silver and gold calves that are and will continue to be the standard of the industry for years to come. From time to time we hear about bulls that are “curve benders,” combining exceptional calving ease with above average growth. Legend is one of these unique individuals! We’ve been absolutely thrilled with Legend’s calving ability over the past three seasons; in addition his progeny have surprised us with tremendous growth and gain.

His entire sale offering exhibits these traits. They are attractive, structurally sound, very docile and easy to handle…these bulls are the complete package. Legend’s first daughters are calving this year and have exceeded our expectations! They have beautiful udders with lots of milk and a docile disposition that make them a pleasure to be around.

Terms & Conditions Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made.

Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final.

Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue.

Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements.

Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured.

Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the appropriate breed association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made.

Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk.

Breeder Guarantee: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known

to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze.

Exception Guarantee: In the case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price.

Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property.

Sale Manager:

By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied. By Livestock assumes no obligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestock assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. Any legal action taken in exceptional cases must be between the buyer and the seller. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfilment of all guarantees and representations.

Insurance: Insurance will be available sale day.

Pictures: By attending the sale you are granting permission for your picture to be used for promotional and advertising purposes relating to the sale.

Cedarlea Farms reserves the right to draw semen on any Charolais bull sold in the sale for in herd use at their expense and the buyer’s convenience.

CANADIAN CHAROLAIS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS If you are using registered Charolais bulls, your children are eligible to apply for a Canadian Charolais Association scholarship.
