On behalf of Lori, Kylie, Brian and myself at Cedarlea Farms, I extend a personal invitation to the “Git ‘R Done” Bull Sale April 3rd. We are very pleased to be part of the sale and thank Collin, Michelle and Hillary for the opportunity to work with Windy Willows Farm. Char-cross calves were at the top of the order buyer’s list this past fall and through the spring sales. Solid markets for tan, buckskin and silver calves will continue as they provide feeding efficacy, exceptional growth and topnotch carcass traits…it’s always been a good time to be in the cattle business and now it’s a great time to use Charolais bulls. The “Charolais” resurgence in the industry has been market driven due to the outstanding results right through from calving to feedlot to carcass yield and grade. We feel this year’s bull pen has a lot to offer! We’re pleased to introduce the Bottoms Up sire group which will offer a nice balance of calving ease, above average growth and great carcass value. The Bottoms Up bulls complement our perennial powerhouse bulls sired by Legend, Rome, Gridmaker, Kingston, Apache and Rolex. We’ve worked hard over the years to select genetics that will provide calving ease while increasing weaning and yearling weights. The bulls have performed exceptionally well this year, health wise and weight gain through to sale time. Once again we are happy to provide ultrasound data which confirms the strength of the genetic package providing a strong natural tendency to add muscle and increase yield.
The Cedarlea bulls and our cowherd have been on a full herd health program and are enrolled in the Boehringer Ingelheim Express Verified Plus program. The program guarantees there are no BVD PI bulls in our sale offering and each bull comes with a six month health warranty. All the Cedarlea bulls are vaccinated to protect their testicles from infection with BVD virus. We stand behind our bulls 100% and want to know how the bulls are working through the breeding season. We are very pleased with the sale offering this year. So often we hear that the bulls being offered for sale are much better than the previous year. We sincerely believe that this year’s bull pen is stronger, more uniform and consistent top to bottom. Come join us and “you be the judge” of the bulls on offer. Garner and Lori along with BJ and Kylie are committed to the livestock industry and just recently at the Saskatchewan Beef Industry Conference Garner and Lori were awarded the Saskatchewan Livestock Association Honour Scroll. A very prestigious honour and well deserved. The sale offering this year is excellent with structural soundness, disposition, performance and above all calving ease bred into the cowherd for many years. There are many ½ and ¾ brothers with some great consistency for those who need multiple bulls and want to have that consistency in their calf crop. From proven sire lines, to some exciting new genetics, they have it covered. If you are looking for a homozygous polled bull, nearly ½ of the bulls in the sale are DNA tested homozygous polled. There will also be Ultrasound data available on the bulls if you want to look under the hide as well. Phenotypically and genotypically this is a great set of bulls. This sale affords you the best of both worlds with some top Red and Black Angus from the quality herd of Windy Willow to make the British influence cowherd that is so desirable in a crossbreeding program. After a long run, our Reno bull had to be replaced. We looked far and wide for a sibling to Reno and settled on using Kingston. A solid, moderate framed, well balanced bull that will add hair and muscle.
Calving ease supreme! From time to time we hear about bulls that are “curve benders”, combining exceptional calving ease with above average growth. Legend is one of these unique individuals! We’ve been absolutely thrilled with Legend’s calving ability over the past four seasons; in addition his progeny have surprised us with tremendous growth and gain. His entire sale offering exhibits these traits. They are attractive, structurally sound, very docile and easy to handle…these bulls are the complete package. Legend’s daughters are in full production and have exceeded our expectations! They have beautiful udders with lots of milk and a docile disposition that make them a pleasure to be around.

LEO DAYNE May 10, 1927 – October 29, 2017 Leo and Jean Dayne, my dad and mom, bought a group of half blood Charolais heifers in 1969 and soon followed with their first purebred Charolais females. In 1980 Garner and I bought their purebreds and thus began Cedarlea Farms, keeping Dad’s tattoo letters LEO. All through the years since selling their cows, Dad and Mom kept their interest in this great white breed, attending Agribition and the Charolais show, watching those amazing tan calves sell and top the markets in Swift Current, Moose Jaw and Assiniboia. You could always see them and Garner’s Dad at our annual Git ‘R Done bull sale held with the Sauders of Windy Willows. Dad and Mom, along with Kylie and BJ, Garner and myself were so happy to be presented with a Foundation Family Award at the Saskatchewan Charolais 50th Anniversary celebrations. Every spring Dad and Mom would come for a calving season tour and last year was no exception. On a bright and sunny warm day which just happened to be Canadian Agriculture Day we opened the doors to the calving shed and drove their car right in. It was such a good day, all the pens were full with new born calves and the border collies escorted Dad on his walk up and down the alley, scratching calves and chatting with cows. After all these years we are proud to say that buying those LEO cows was one of our best farming decisions. I see the pride and amazement in their faces when they see the life and the herd we’ve built since then. Our fourth generation tattoos their calves using those same herd letters that their Dayne great grandparents did, and raise their calves on the farm that their Deobald great-great grandparents bought in 1937. Raising a family in this lifestyle has been our pride and joy… it taught us many lessons and we watched our kids become amazing young people, learning chores and your animals tended to first… then your sports! It’s been an incredible journey. October 29, 2017 Dad left us quickly and quietly. This past year has been a time of last times spent with him and first times spent without him. We miss his quiet ways, his laugh, his phone calls to check up on us, the crib games and sharing a beer and clam… we miss him.

Terms & Conditions Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable immediately after the sale in Canadian funds. All settlements must be made with the sale clerks before cattle will be released. The right of property will not pass until final payment is made. Bidding: Each animal will sell to the highest bidder. Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale. Disputes: Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision is final. Announcements: Announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements. Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. All animals left with the seller must be insured. Certificate of Registration: Each animal will carry papers issued by the appropriate breed association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer after payment has been made. Delivery: Assistance will be given in making delivery after the sale. The purchaser agrees shipping arrangements will be at the convenience of the seller, but will be as soon as practical after the sale, at the buyer’s risk. Breeder Guarantee: Should any bull fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known

to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within six months following the date of purchase or six months after the bull has reached fourteen months of age. The seller has the right and privilege of six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze. Exception Guarantee: In the case where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproductive techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold or for sickness not apparent at sale time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price. Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sale manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property. Sale Manager: By Livestock is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller and is not responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations; or for the truth of any warrantees or representations, expressed or implied. By Livestock assumes no obligation to enforce or collect monies between parties. By Livestock assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. Any legal action taken in exceptional cases must be between the buyer and the seller. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfilment of all guarantees and representations. Insurance: Insurance will be available sale day. Pictures: By attending the sale you are granting permission for your picture to be used for promotional and advertising purposes relating to the sale. Cedarlea Farms reserves the right to draw semen on any Charolais bull sold in the sale for in herd use at their expense and the buyer’s convenience.
