The Park District of Forest Park Board of Commissioners meets the 3rd Thursday of each month. The meetings are held at 6:00pm in the Admin. Building.

Program Cancellation Policy The Park district reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or combine classes and change instructors. Programs not meeting the minimum registration will be canceled and patrons will be notified. Refunds or household credits will be issued upon request. All efforts will be made to ensure a program or event runs. In most cases, cancellation decisions will be made within one week of the beginning of the program. All participants in canceled classes will be notified by Park District Staff and will receive a full refund.

Excitement is in the air as we prep are

for another incredible summer at the Park District of Forest Park!

One of the highlights of our summer is welcoming and training our sea sonal staff. For many, this is their and we take pride in helping them very first job, grow into confident, capable lead ers. The experiences they gain here them for years to come! will stay with We’re also looking forward to another fantastic Aquatic season. With the support of our Board, we’re launchin initiative—offering every four-yea g a special r-old in Forest Park a week-long water safety class. Water safety and we want every child to feel safe is a vital life skill, and confident in and around the wat er. See more Aquatics beginning on page 13!

Summer wouldn’t be complete with out our campers! We can’t wait to welc season filled with swimming at the ome both new and returning cam pers for a Aquatic Center, fun & games thro ughout the park, and exciting field trips.

And, of course, summer is packed with amazing events! We’re thril led to continue our partnerships Alliance and their mArt in the Park with the Arts for summer concerts, and we’re gea ring up for the best Fourth of July around—an evening filled with mus celebration ic and fun. At the end of July, we host our biggest event of the yea Nationals 16” Softball Tournament, r, the No Glove bringing in teams and fans from all over to experience the heart of our Special events begin on page 6. community.

All of our Pocket Parks are now fully renovated and ready to be enjoyed ! Plus, we’re excited to officially ope Pad at Remembrance Park on May n the Splash 17. Our goal has always been to brin g neighborhoods together through parks, and we can’t wait for you to experience them. See a map with beautiful all of our parks & facilities on pag e 29!

At the Roos Recreation Center, we continue to expand our programmin g for all ages. Our After-Hours eve offering a fun and safe night out, nts are a hit, and our active adult programs are growing every season. 57th Annual No Glove Nationals 16" Softball Tournament July 24-27 Play-in games July 22 Enjoy a weekend full of some great food and drinks, family and friends, and the best 16" softball around from first pitch on Thursday through the final out on Sunday at No Glove Nationals!

Pitch Hit & Run is a free baseball and softball competition for boys and girls ages 7-14. Players are tested on key skills, earning a total score. Top athletes can move from Local Competitions to Team Championships and then to the Finals, which take place during Game 2 of the World Series.

Bike Tune-Up Workshop

Saturday, April 26 10-11:30am Join Bruce to learn how to give your bike a much-needed tune-up by replacing brake and gear cables, adjusting screws, and mastering the barrel screw. This class will walk you through each step, ensuring your bike’s shifting and braking systems work smoothly. Ideal for riders looking to enhance their maintenance skills.

Saturday, September 6 | 2:30-7:30pm Join us for Fall Fest! Where we celebrate our community with live music and entertainment for the entire family. The event is free, however food, beverages and treats will be available for purchase. There will be a bounce house, gaga pit, kids activities, live entertainment and of course Mr. Sidney will teach hip-hop from 5:00-5:30PM

Family Camp Out Saturday, September 21 & Sunday, September 22

You don’t have to drive far to camp out. The Park District is turning the softball fields into our very own campground! Families are invited to pitch their tents for some overnight fun in the park.

4pm You can begin to pitch your tent 5pm Check-in with park district staff 6pm Chuck wagon dinner with our world famous hot dogs and beans.

Followed by a campfire for roasting marshmallows and making s’mores, hip hop with Mr. Sidney, story time with the library and finally a late night movie.

The campout will conclude with breakfast on Sunday.

This event is for families only. Parents must accompany children.

Wristbands will be given for registered participants to participate.

Pom Pom Dance

Pom Pom Dance is a high-energy dance style where dancers will learn the essential skills needed for a school dance team. The focus will be on sharp, precise movements and synchronization while incorporating pom poms. Dancers will also work on flexibility, showmanship, and be introduced to technical skills such as jumps, turns, and leaps.

Baton Twirling with Ms. Carol

Twirling combines dance, agility, coordination and flexibility while manipulating a single baton or multiple batons. Our baton twirling class not only focus on teaching children how to twirl a baton, This class encourages teamwork, poise, hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, dance, flexibility, timing and coordination as well as help children build their self-esteem.

Students learn baton twirling tricks in class as well as routines.

NO experience necessary. Parents are welcome to participate with their children. Class is taught by Carol Lites who has 40+ years twirling instruction experience.

Age: 5-13

Mr. Sidney’s high-energy class uses the latest sounds in rap, R & B and pop music together with movements influenced by some of today’s hottest video choreographers. Hip-hop encompasses elements of pop locking, breaking, and freestyle movement, giving students the opportunity to dance outside the box and bring their own personality to each movement.

Private lessons provide a personalized learning experience to help students improve their skills and learn new ones.

Choose your instructor or let us assign one, with flexible scheduling. Simple safety skills are included. Each session includes six 30-minute classes. Lessons are first come, first served, and waitlist spots aren’t guaranteed. Makeup classes are only offered if the Park District cancels. Classes will be cancelled if weather is below 69. Gentle Yoga

Gentle yoga is a type of yoga used with a lot of props that helps someone get into a relaxing pose without discomfort that is then held for 5-2 minutes. Park District Youth License Plates

Park districts in Illinois have been providing vital youth programs for many years. Park and recreation agencies step in to fill the gap for children and working parents during beyondschool hours. The sale and subsequent renewal of each plate generates $25 specifically for the PowerPlay!

Beyond School Grant Program. These funds help youth programs in park and recreation agencies throughout Illinois. The Park District of Forest Park is a proud recipient of the PowerPlay! Grant.
