Youth Athletics

The Youth Developmental Basketball League offers instruction as well as a competitive basketball league that allows the players the opportunity to grow and learn the game in a fun and exciting environment. Games will be officiated by IHSA Referees. Games will be played on Saturdays starting October 30th between 8:30am and 4:00pm, depending on number of total teams in the league. Volunteer Parent Coaches are needed for the success of the league. If you are interested in coaching please contact Zach Price, Athletic Supervisor at zachprice@pdlg.org. Please note: practice days/times may change based on the availability of volunteer coaches. The first week of practice will be player evaluations. Please arrive 15-20 minutes early to check-in for evaluations.

Kids First certified coaches plan a combination of sports and games ranging from competitive to non-competitive and leisure. Sports include: baseball, softball, soccer, track & field events, dodgeball, badminton, fag football, basketball, volleyball, kickball, and more. Participants should bring a water bottle and face covering.

This class combines flag football fundamental preparation with flag football games. Coaches will teach football player techniques with body balance safety positioning, giving a player confidence to enjoy the game of football. The first two weeks are dedicated to understanding the game through team competitive drills of how to play various positions. Flag football games will be played once the coach feels everyone is ready.

Coaches will focus on teaching sprints, hurdles, jumps, distance running and throws in a sage and fundamental way. The program consists of body balance techniques including speed, quickness, and agility drills, which will help produce a quicker, safer, more powerful performer. A wide variety of timed events will take place each day.

Coaches will teach first step directional movements for track & field, basketball, football, baseball, soccer and more. Each participant will have an opportunity to learn the speed and quickness components involved for multiple player positions for each sport. This class teaches fundamentals that all players need to understand when kicking the ball. Coaches will demonstrate ball handling, goalie positioning, first step directional movements, kicking, player positioning, and how to play the game with fundamentals. This program is ideal for beginners to advanced players that will enjoy learning through fun team competitive soccer drills. A championship game will conclude the program.

This basketball program focuses on fundamentals. Players will be trained on new basketball skills and safety techniques to make them game ready. This class is designed to teach and enhance the skills of our future stars. Proper techniques on passing, receiving, blocking and kicking will be covered.
