COMMITTEE STRUCTURE IN PLACE FOR GA226
The Office of the General Assembly has finalized the committee structure for the 226th General Assembly this summer. Committees will meet online Tuesday,June 25 through Thursday, June 27. A lot of work is underway to ensure that commissioners and advisory delegates are properly trained and have the tools needed to conduct the business of the church.
FROM DECISION TO ACTION
As womanist theologians, the pastors of Liberty Community Church in Minneapolis are seeking the healing of their Northside neighborhood through co-creating spaces of rest and resistance with individuals victimized by the sex trafficking trade and within a community suffering from the effects of systemic poverty and structural racism.
Northside Healing Space isjust one of many initiatives that the Matthew 25 congregation has supported over the past 25 years in its efforts to address the multiple layers of oppression experienced by its neighbors through cycles of systemic poverty and the historic realities of structural racism.
In 2022, the 225th General Assembly approvedrecommendations from the report of the Disparities Experienced by Black Women and Girls Task Force that, among other things, directed the Presbyterian Mission Agency to engage in the work of eradicating systemic violence against Black women and girls. Through the Matthew 25 vision, churches like Liberty Community Church are doing just that.
