Pullman School District Transitioning to Skyward Qmlativ in July 2026 During Summer 2026, Pullman School District will transition from Skyward SMS to the newer Skyward Qmlativ system as part of a statewide modernization effort required by WSIPC (Washington School Information Processing Cooperative). This transition will require periods with no access to Skyward (SMS and Qmlativ) and impact enrollment applications.

System Blackout Window – July 14-26, 2026 For families and community members unfamiliar1 with the platform, Skyward is the district’s Student Information System (SIS). This system is used to manage student enrollment, attendance, grades, schedules, and other important student records. Our district joins others in Eastern Washington making this transition to ensure continued support, improved functionality, and future-ready technology.

ENROLLMENT INFORMATION FOR NEW FAMILIES: Families planning to enroll a student in Pullman School District should be aware of an important deadline related to the Skyward Qmlativ migration. ⦁ Enrollment portal CLOSED July 9-26, 2026 ⦁ Enrollment applications must be submitted by July 8, 2026 or AFTER July 26, 2026 ⦁ Enrollment applications not submitted by July 8, 2026, will not transfer to Qmlativ and must be restarted once the new Qmlativ system goes live on July 27, 2026.

Kelsey Erwin has worked at Pullman Regional Hospital for 7 years as an Emergency Department Registered Nurse; she also provides specialized compassionate care for sexual assault patients. Erwin was nominated by her colleagues for the annual Nurse Excellence honor and selected from a pool of 10 nominees.

Hired in 2016, Erwin started her career at Pullman Regional in the Intensive Care Unit then transferred to the Emergency Department; she also serves in the Clinical Coordinator role, providing frontline leadership and coordination of clinical services at the hospital.

Nomination letters describe her as generous in sharing her knowledge and humor, a team player who covers shifts in her own department and others and strongly devoted to the success of the organization. “She is deeply committed to ensuring every patient feels heard, safe, and cared for, no matter how busy or challenging the shift may be. Her advocacy and willingness to do whatever it takes for her patients truly set her apart and reflect the heart of nursing.”

Stephanie Knewbow, Director of Emergency and Clinical Support Services, described Erwin as “exemplifying the very best of nursing through exceptional patient dedication, teamwork, and the positive energy she brings to every shift.” For her work providing traumainformed care to patients experiencing vulnerable and difficult moments, she said, “Kelsey ensures evidence is collected with dignity, respect, and meticulous attention to detail. Her dedication to this specialized role has had a meaningful impact on both patient care and our community.”

Summer is here, and that means it's time to talk about sunscreen!

Protecting your child’s skin from the sun’s harmful rays is crucial, but with so many options available, choosing the right sunscreen can be overwhelming. Dr. Katie Hryniewicz, Pediatrician at Pullman Regional Hospital's Palouse Pediatrics, breaks it down and makes sun protection simple and effective in 4 simple steps.

Dr. Katie reminds to try not to “forget those easy-to-miss spots like your ears, the back of your neck, your scalp (especially along parts), the tops of your feet, and behind your knees.”

Use Enough To ensure you’re fully protected, Dr. Katie says to “use about 1 ounce (a golf ball size) for teens and adults, or about half that amount for smaller children.”

Apply Early This is one you may not know! Dr. Katie recommends that you “apply sunscreen at least 15-30 minutes before sun exposure. This is especially important for chemical-based sunscreens that take more time to kick in than mineral/barrier sunscreens.”

Reapply Often Dr. Katie says, one of the biggest mistakes people make is forgetting to reapply sunscreen. To maintain protection: • Reapply every 2 hours, or every 60-90 minutes if you’re sweating or swimming.

• Remember that spray sunscreens wash off more easily and may need to be reapplied more frequently.

Use Other Measures In addition to sunscreen, consider these extra steps that Dr. Katie suggests to protect your skin: • Avoid being outside in the direct sunlight during highest UV

Come garden with us and help fight hunger on the Palouse! Every Wednesday from 10am to noon this summer at Koppel Farm.

Volunteers will assist with various gardening tasks at Koppel Farm: weeding, bed prep, transplanting, and other general maintenance.
