Student Workshops January Silent but Powerful Visual Art
The Perspectives community invites you to reflect on the factors that contribute to the persistence of violence in our community. In the 10 years since the I Am For Peace documentary was released, what has changed, what has remained the same, and most importantly, why? In January, Perspectives students will begin to participate in monthly workshops where they will learn to leverage artistic platforms to be agents for peace.

A selection of the students’ art will be exhibited at a Peace Summit on May 2. Following the art exhibition, a distinguished panel of community leaders will discuss how we - as individuals and members of our community - can be agents for peace. Panelists: Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias (invited) Dorri McWhorter, President & CEO, YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago Awvee Storey, Executive Director, Chicago Sky Cares Foundation Janeya Cunningham, I Am For Peace documentary Moderator: Maryah Phillips, Program Specialist, The Chicago Community Trust A History of Empowering Chicago's Young Peacemakers For 27 years, Perspectives Charter Schools has been more than just a school – it has been a movement. Perspectives’ A Disciplined Life® education model has nurtured thousands of compassionate young leaders who understand their power to make real change.
