On a warm Wednesday in mid-July, forty Gold Coast Region PCA members enjoyed a refreshing summer wine tasting. We were hosted by the Union Kitchen & Bar in Wilton Manors. The tasting included several fresh hors d’oeuvres that were selected and prepared to enhance the flavor and bouquet of the wine, and the evening.

Union Kitchen Managing Partner Roberto Columbi, a certified sommelier, or wine steward, poured a selection of five wonderful wines for the group. His wife, Chef/Owner Christie Tenaud, whom he met when they worked at a restaurant together, prepared and offered the unique appetizers. They joined lives and founded and operate the Union Kitchen & Bar. Their wine and food pairings were selected with care for our members to assess, evaluate, and most certainly to enjoy. The venue featured a spacious area within the Kitchen & Bar that commanded half of the indoor space. Additionally, the Porsche group was able to expand into an adjoining patio which was accessed through a set of opened French doors. The ambiance of the location, coupled with the wine and food pairings, made for a rich and pleasant evening. Members from around our Region, ranging from Port St. Lucie to Miami, came out to socialize and enjoy the tasting.

Gold Coast Region offered a door prize raffle. Our winner was given a bottle of wine, their choice of those varieties and vintages sampled during the event, and two wine glasses. Congratulations to Iryna Rodionova, who won the raffle at the first GCR PCA event she attended. Iryna was accompanied by Jason Laffrey. Iryna and Jacob recently joined PCA and traveled from Miami to the event in Wilton Manors.

After sampling the excellent food and wine, a number of Gold Coasters extended the evening by staying for a delicious dinner. Thank you to Kevin Jones for organizing this successful Porsche social gathering. We are looking forward to having you plan additional evenings in Dade and Palm Beach Counties.

Should anyone be interested, or wish to add a few of these wines to the home cellar, those we sampled were as follows: Spumante Millesimato Ca’ Delle Rose, Vento – Italy; Cinsault Rose Mont Gravet Pays D’oc – France; Berdicchio Cesaroni, Marche – Italy; Nero D’avola Ramisella – Sicily; and Cabernet Sauvignon Excelsior Robertson – South Africa.
