I don’t go through the process of changing cars very often because I can think of easier ways to inflict pain on myself. But every few years I notice the itch starting. I find myself looking at pictures of new Porsches, trying to determine which one best meets my needs. Which is best on fuel economy, interior room, ride comfort, economy of ownership, and of course, price. Do I want a new car or one that is slightly used? These are only a few of the questions I must ask myself in determining what will be the most logical car for me. My current Porsche is a 2014 Boxster S that I purchased five years ago, and it has given me great service

during my ownership. Let’s forget about the logical reasons to change my vehicle because there are none. 95% of Porsche buying decisions are pure wants trying to masquerade as logical decisions. The only logic to be applied is which Porsche do I want. I have narrowed my decision down to a Boxster 4.0, Macon GTS or a 911. If you are wondering why the 911 is in third place in the decision matrix, it’s because the 911 has so many versions that only the hyper versions really stand out. Do I need a Turbo S, no. Do I want a Turbo S, sure if someone else is paying for it. Great cars, just not my cup of tea.

The Macan is on the decision list because every homeowner needs a support vehicle to take to the supermarket. Today that role is filled for me by a Mazda CX5 SUV. The Mazda braves the parking lots and does a great job of it, but if I got a Macan, it would replace the Mazda and the Boxster, thus saving on the insurance costs. There you have it, my 2023 question of the year, and I’m asking for suggestions from my Porsche friends. Help me make a choice. Email your suggestion to polliviere@gmail.com.

Gearing up for the Holiday Season

As we cruise into November, the holiday season is quickly coming upon us. November is also the time of year that marks the end of daylight saving time (remember how to set your Porsche clock?), and hurricane season. It is also a time to reflect on what you are thankful for. I am thankful for being a part of this awesome organization and enjoying the Porsche brand with all of you. I am also thankful for the volunteers that helped out with all of the events we had this year!

In October we celebrated our Porsche passion with the popular Oktoberfest at the Biergarten in Boca Raton. Thank you to Ian Gerada for organizing this event.At the time of this writing, I am looking forward to the Porsches, Pumpkins & Potions event at Tavolino Della Notte in Coral Springs

November has provided a change in the weather from our normal hot and humid to a pleasant temperature with much less humidity. Members who made the tour to North Carolina were able to enjoy the mountains along with the beautiful changing colors of the leaves. This month’s Kassette theme is a celebration of thankfulness. After many years of not having a GCR Driver’s Education Program, we were able to have a very successful event at Homestead. The event was made possible by all the hard work from a planning team, sponsorship from several vendors, volunteers from several regions and the support from the national DE chair. Page 10 provides an article about the support we received.

Another event that has been missed was our swap meet. Because of our volunteers, event planners and a host shop, TR3 in Davie, we were able to have an opportunity for members to sell their Porsche items to fellow members. Page 14 provides more details and photos of the event. My wife was very thankful that my surplus Porsche item found a new home. As usual, our “Finding Gold” members article on page 18 is a gold mine of information. Antonio has been a good friend for many years, and I also learned where WD-40 got its name. We have received many compliments on the photography article by George Plucienkowski. We are very thankful that George has joined our team in

providing his art for the region to enjoy. His third part will run in our December issue. Look for more helpful ideas on how to improve your photography skills. Check out part two of “Capturing Motion” on page 22.

START YOUR ENGINES Center Lock Wheels on a Porsche 911: Pros and Cons Ian Gerada, Membership Chair

Among 911 enthusiasts and mechanics, one of the more debated choices is the use of center lock wheels. These wheels, which are secured by a single large nut in the center as opposed to the traditional five or more lug nuts, have both their advocates and detractors. Let’s delve into the pros and cons of center lock wheels on a Porsche 911. Pros Racing Heritage: Center lock wheels have their roots in motorsport. They were designed for quick wheel changes during pit stops in races. For Porsche 911 owners, this offers a touch of racing pedigree to their vehicles. Aesthetics: Many believe (I’m certainly one of them) that the clean look of the center lock, devoid of multiple lug nuts, offers a more streamlined and appealing aesthetic to the wheel.

Weight Savings: With fewer components than traditional lug systems, center lock wheels can offer slight weight savings, which can in turn, improve performance. Quick Wheel Changes: For those who frequently change their wheels, whether for aesthetic reasons or track days, the center lock system simplifies and speeds up the process. However, while this is advantageous at the track or a shop, it becomes a drawback when faced with a flat tire in a remote location. Cons Specialized Tools Required: Specific tools, not typically found in standard tool kits, are needed to change or remove center lock wheels. Cost: Center lock wheels and their associated components can be more expensive than traditional lug nut wheels. Replacement parts can also come at a premium.

Limited Choices: Although the Porsche 911 with center lock wheels has some aftermarket wheel options, they are fewer compared to those for traditional lug nut wheels. Choosing center lock wheels for a Porsche 911 is a matter of personal preference. While they offer a unique look and a nod to racing heritage, they also come with their own set of challenges. Potential buyers and owners should weigh the pros and cons to determine if center lock wheels are the right choice for their needs and aesthetics. November is the month for gratuitude! We are quite fortunate, and it behooves us to show our appreciation for all our family, friends, our home and land, our country and all the wonders and beauty we enjoy. Within the Porsche community, the Gold Coast Region has many reasons to share our gratitude and thankfulness. We can thank each other for the camaraderie of the Porsche brand and for the efforts of the club leadership that organizes and promotes quality events for each of us to enjoy. We must be thankful for the simple beauty and pleasures of owning and driving our Porsche automobiles. Without a doubt, some of the most important thanks should be directed at the many volunteers, corporate

Swap Meet & Tech Session Article by Steve Kidd, GCR Historian, 50-year PCA member and past everything

Many of the older members hopefully remember the annual swap meet that we used to have “back in the day”. A local shop would open their doors, invite members to dust off their old treasures that were in need of a new home and roll out the welcome mat. Usually there was a twist of tech, a sprinkle of food and beverage and lots of socializing. For whatever reasons, this event lay dormant until 2023, when Mario Gonzalez introduced me to Carlos and the team at TR3. You see, Mario works for Trotta Tire (one of our advertisers) and TR3 a race team and uses lots of tires. An instant bond developed, and the group decided we had to do something. That something was the rekindling of our annual swap meet with a few new twists. While the plan was a series of evolutions from the old format, the main theme held true…. fun, selling a few garage ornaments, more fun, learning about cool cars, great food and beverage, and still more fun.

Fast forward to September 30, 2023, and planners and hosts were ready to make it happen, but first it would only be proper that we identify all the major players that made this event possible, and again, offer a huge thank-you and congratulations on a job well done. Our Hosts, TR3 in Davie and their incredible staff including, but not limited to, Carlos, Bryan, Greg, Oliver and everyone else who made their house, our house (at least for about 5 hours). These guys have a full-blown race shop that supports several race teams. They also do modifications to street cars, so if you want to make your car faster or handle better, you will want to give these guys a call. Our VP Dottie Kidd handled all of the online and day of registration and other front-end duties. She does it all and can fill in anywhere. Dottie has a reputation as the organizational guru at our events.

Our “Bellini Girl” Lizzette Gonzalez, did all the shopping and welcomed everyone with a mini quiche and Peach Bellini. Our site co-coordinator and host liaison Mario Gonzalez, also handled outside vendors, parking and other details. Without Mario’s contacts, this event would not have happened. Our Social Chair Christy Spangler, helped with pre-event set-up, hospitality and of course helped me with the world class door prizes that were offered. All the above people working as a team made my job easy, and I probably had a little finger in everything, but enjoyed setting up the inside vendors, managing and giving away door prizes and making sure everything stayed on track and on time. In all we had 8 vendors inside and 3 outside, that sold their wares from about $200-$1000. A big thanks to all the vendors and hoping they made lots of money and probably some new friends. Inside tables were 3’ x 6’, and outside spaces were 2 full parking spaces, with a GT3 Cup Car for sale. When attendees were not trying to make a deal, a tech session was presented by Greg and Carlos from TR3. The tech portion centered around a historically significant GT3 Cup Car that won its class at the 12 hours of Sebring about 12 years ago. It continued racing until it was badly damaged.

Fortunately, the factory did not issue a new tub number as is often the case, and the race was resurrected at Alex Job Racing, and still sees limited action on the track. This Cup Car now lives with a select bunch of other Porsches, Lambos, Ferraris and other types of race cars at TR3. Besides selling parts and tech instruction, attendees enjoyed socializing, pizza and sandwiches provided by TR3, and of course our now legendary door prizes. We all have probably won a door prize like a XL shirt and your size is medium. Our solution is to put the door prizes out for display, and attendees are given one or more tickets to drop in a container in front of the prize they want. That way you are only bidding on the size/style you want. Some of the prizes have a universal appeal such as sets of GCR wine glasses with a bottle of wine!! I also need to mention that some of the most popular items bid on were the TR3 shirt/hat sets.... really nice, high-quality stuff...Thanks again TR3. Will we do it again...you bet, just remember if you are a buyer, you must pre-register, for free. If buyers or guests don’t pre-register, they will be charged $10.00 at the door. Sellers are charged a small amount, but look at what you get, with an added benefit to make some Porsche spending money! Hopefully next fall or sooner!

FINDING GOLD Antonio Gaitan

A wonderful man with a useful product… and a couple of sweet Porsches Member Feature by Mark Johnson The story for this month’s Finding Gold could have started: “If it moves and you don’t want it to move… Duct Tape!” But it is the converse: “If it doesn’t move, and you want it to move… WD-40®!” Our November ’23 Finding Gold feature, is about a man who wants things to move. Antonio “Tonio” Gaitan, is the Business Development Manager for a Latin American company that we all know and greatly appreciate, WD-40. He has been on the forefront and development of moving things for a bit over 30 years. He is originally from Mexico and his career began there as a one-man band, introducing WD-40 to the folks in Mexico City. Tonio was working for a corrugated box company when he saw a small, classified advertisement for an ‘international company’. The company was looking for a salesperson, able to work remotely and with bilingual (Spanish/English) speaking skills.

Two beauties at home He burnished his resume and hand delivered it to the address in Mexico City. Impressed, he received a call back from the company for an initial interview. It was there that he was introduced to WD-40. Having used the brand and making a very good first impression, he was asked to return for a second interview. Tonio has been quietly opening doors, building customer relationships and developing a cadre of Porsche friendships for many years. Just a little squirt of WD-40 and squeaky hinges become smooth and silent. A simple smile and sincere conversation about Porsche with Tonio will create a memorable evening that will develop into a valued friendship.

His first foray into the Porsche brand was with a red 1976 914.

He acquired the 914 in 1995. However, even after using several cans of his product, it was difficult to enjoy the 914. Tonio bought the 914 from the owner without an engine. All the WD-40 in the universe cannot make a 914 run without an engine. The previous owner needed cash and started parting out the car. Worth more in parts than in whole, presumably the engine was the first to disappear. Tonio rescued the 914 from its misery and started resuscitation. He was able to source a 2.0L engine from another 914 that was in an accident. That vehicle had been hit in the front, so the engine was in very good and undamaged condition. Howerver, most of the ignition system was missing from both the red 914 and the wreck. Tonio had a business trip to Los Angeles for a corporate meeting. He arrived in LA early and his cousin picked him up.

The Aubergine Targa in all its glory On the way to the cousin’s home, the boys drove past a local Porsche dealership. After dropping luggage, they returned to the dealership. The first person Antonio met was the head mechanic/technician of the store. The discussion centered around his efforts to bring the 914 back to life. He needed the essential ignition parts and how and where to acquire them. The lengthy discussion lead toward an unexpected direction. The head mechanic said, “Since you like Porsches, you may be interested in mine. Yesterday, my wife was diagnosed with cancer, and I must sell it. It’s not on the market yet.” Tonio and the mechanic went to the parking garage and there sat this beautiful 1973 911 Targa in the rare Aubergine hue. They took a drive. Tonio fell in love with the car. It was his first driving experience with a 911. They shook hands on a deal.

Antonio Gaitan purchased his second Porsche, the Aubergine 1973 911 Targa from the head mechanic at the dealership for $5,000 and only 41,300 miles on the odometer. He decided to drive home to Mexico City. During the trip there were a couple of little incidents that were corrected (a shifter bushing was replaced early in the trip at a friend’s home, and two new rear tires were purchased). With all of the essential upgrades, the Targa was in excellent condition for the 2500-mile drive. It was easier to buy the Targa than to try to bring the 914 back to life. It was quite an upgrade as well. What became of the 914? Another friend was aware of the Targa purchase. He indicated that he would take the 914 off Tonio’s hands, complete the resuscitation, and put the vehicle back on the road. He did just that. Tonio was able to drive the 914 about six months later. While quite fun it was no match for the 911 Targa. The 914 was sold for $2000, so the

Targa cost Tonio a net $3,000. Try to buy a pristine 1973 911 Targa for that price today – people will think you are crazy. Since that original trip home, the Aubergine Targa has been from Mexico City to San Antonio, TX three times, three trips from Mexico City (MC) to Acapulco and one additional trip from MC to Miami. The Miami trip was the one which brought Tonio to our fair state and his current position with WD-40. Tonio and WD-40 moved! The Aubergine Targa has been the Porsche that has taken him many places. Tonio has been married to his spouse, Maria “Maru”, for twenty-six years. He has two sons, Andres (36, married) who lives in Buenos Aires, and Danny (29, not married) currently in Denver. Tonio and Maru are currently empty nesters aside from the Porsches, but they did have a wonderful companion, their Golden Retriever, for many

chit-chat over, they went outside to look at their respective vehicles. Tonio had been interested in a modern Porsche coupe versus another open car. Something more comfortable (air conditioning preferred) and perhaps quicker.

The first is the ’73 Targa that has been in their possession since being purchased from the mechanic in LA. The second Porsche was recently acquired in a private sale. This is a 2016 Cayman S in silver. With the exceptional quality of the Targa and its increasing value in the market, Tonio made a conscious decision to add to his Porsche fleet. The Cayman S was purchased to allow him to drive frequently and enthusiastically. The Targa being rare in color and availability was becoming

much too valuable for many of the driving opportunities around south Florida. As a salesperson with a genuine interest in people, Tonio is quite fearless in meeting people and talking to them. This trait led him to the Cayman S. In November 2022, Tonio was at Porsche West Broward for one of their excellent customer appreciation breakfasts. Being alone and hungry with a full plate, he found a table with a gentleman sitting by himself. A polite, “May I join you,” was followed by introductions. With breakfast and

Upon seeing the 2016 Cayman S in silver, Tonio was struck. The owner had acquired the vehicle new, and it only had 18,800 miles. Of course, the suggestion became, “if you ever want to sell, please let me know.” Only two months later in January 2023, the owner texted, “are you still interested? I need to sell the Cayman as I have a new daily driver coming in midFebruary.” Two weeks later, the silver 2016 Cayman S resided in Tonio’s garage. The 911 Targa is kept totally stock. The Cayman S has been upgraded with limited personal modifications. He changed the wheel/tire from the stock 20” Carrera wheels to a GT4 20” set that will accommodate wider tires. The Cayman S has also been “chipped” for improved performance and a throaty attitude in exhaust note. This Cayman is surprisingly quick, according to Tonio. Ahhhhh, but it is the Aubergine ’73 911 Targa that is the showstopper.

Working in a small lab in San Diego, California, it took them 40 attempts to get the water displacing formula worked out.

The Targa has been to quite a few events on the concours circuit. Often, Tonio and the Targa go home with lots of 1st and 2nd place trophies. The beauty of the Aubergine Targa, and its rarity, garners many admirers. Beyond the concours events, Tonio has also auto crossed the Targa in years past. He won an AX season, first in class for his category. Tonio has been a Gold Coast Region PCA member since moving to south Florida in 1997. He traveled as a PCA member to a couple Porsche Sunfests, Sebring and Mt. Dora. He has also been to Stuttgart Germany to visit the Porsche factory and museum in 2018. At the time of the visit, it was Porsche’s 70th Anniversary. As for his favorite Porsche? One need not look much further than one’s own Targa. As a sister car, the 1973 911 RS is at the top of his list. Beyond that the 1989 959, the 2007 Carrera GT and

the 2015 918 Spyder come into view. Each of his Porsches are movers and shakers of note in the Porsche line-up. Moving, and helping things move, is apparently in Tonio’s blood. Antonio Gaitan has found a home in south Florida. Now a resident for over 26 years, he is comfortable with the climate and has many friends within the Porsche community. No need to move elsewhere as the WD-40 gig allows him to travel for his Latin American duties. So, he is going to stay awhile, no duct tape necessary. Is there a common bond between the company he represents and Porsche automobiles? Both WD-40 and the Porsche Targa and Cayman S allow Tonio to move. One might suggest that the Porsches are a bit more fun, but the success with WD-40 has allowed Tonio to enjoy his Porsche passion. It’s a great winwin, especially when you like to… “Move It – Move It!”

But they must have been good, because the original secret formula for WD-40 Multi-Use Product is the ‘WD’ stands for Water Displacer and the ‘40’ is the number of attempts that it took to get it right. by George Plucienkowski Previously, we discussed some of the main principles of photography and the functions of the camera to establish a base setting for obtaining better images. We will continue adding to our repertoire, by discussing another key component, the lens. The lens is the most important part of your camera equipment, since the light that stimulates the sensor (or film) of the camera travels through it and focuses on the sensor. Consequently, the lens has the most impact on image quality.

This is a 24-120mm zoom lens from Nikon featuring vibration reduction mode and a constant f-stop (f4) for the whole zoom range. There are comparable lenses for Canon, etc.

The lens that you choose will have the greatest impact on the sharpness of the final image. Specifically, contrast and clarity will be compromised by a poor lens, leading to blurred images because of the reduction of focus capability of the camera. In earlier years, prime lenses were used for their acute sharpness, whereas zoom lenses were avoided because of their softness in the image. This required one to carry many lenses to cover the full spectrum of the focal length (or magnification). Today’s zoom lenses have great sharpness and alleviate the issue of carrying five or more lenses. These zoom lenses provide the convenience of multiple focal lengths (magnification) without the need to change out lenses. With today’s modern zoom lenses, one can capture 90% of their images with just two lenses. The two most used lenses are the 24-70mm or 24-120mm and a 70-200mm lens. With these lenses, the vibration reduction mode, sharpness and focus acquisition are outstanding.

This is a 70-200mm Zoom Lens from Nikon featuring vibration reduction mode and a constant f-stop (f2.8) for the whole zoom range. This is one of the sharpest, clearest lens available and most of the manufacturers feature this lens. Which-ever lenses you select, it is highly suggested that the lenses have the feature of fixed aperture and some form of vibration reduction feature (either in the lens or the camera). The fixed aperture feature ensures that selected aperture is fixed on the selected value, even though you are changing the focal length (Zooming from 24 to 120mm). This ensures that your setting for exposure does not need to be changed as you zoom in or out. As an example, if you set the aperture to f4, it will remain the

same at all focal length settings. Most kit lenses are variable and the set aperture will change as the focal length is changed while zooming. The vibration feature allows one to hand-hold the camera at reduced speeds below 1/125 second. In addition, this is extremely helpful if one needs to shoot in low light conditions without a tripod to steady the camera. There is a small pit-fall, if one assumes that by setting the aperture at the smallest opening (f16 and greater) all the images will be sharp and clear. However, that is not accurate. The aperture setting is not the only factor in image sharpeness. When utilizing any lens, your focus point, distance to subject and focal length also play an important roll for obtaining a clear and sharp image along with the aperture setting. It is important to have an understaning of depth of field (DOF). Depth of field, how much of the image is in focus, is impacted by each of these. This is depicted in the following three charts.

This chart explains the effect of aperture on the clarity and sharpness. The focus point is the flowers. With the higher number aperture, one has a greater focus range at smaller apertures represented by a larger f-stop number. Please remember that the small number (f2.8) represents a wide open lens; whereas a large number (f22) is a very small opening in the lens. DOF increases with higher number f-stops.

This chart explains the effect of moving the focus point while keeping the aperture and focal length unchanged. The depth of field increases as the focus point is more distant from the camera.

This chart shows the effect of focusing at the subject at midpoint and than changing the focal lens. As one moves to a wider focal length more of the image comes into focus both in front and behind the subject. November 2023 | Die Porsche Kassette

The depth of field shifts and changes much wider as the focal length is changed from a telephoto lens to a wide angle lens. There are two additional accessories that will help improve the qualty of the image. The first is the polarizing filter. Many times one encounters glare and reflections on the subject being photographed. This is where a polarizing filter becomes a key tool to reduce and the possibilty of eliminating the reflection and enhancing the saturation of colors. A polarizing filter can darken blue skies, remove reflections and reduce haze. The only caution is not to use the maximum amount of polarization since it will make the image very harsh. Select the best polarized filter, since it will be part of the lens and a poor quality one may degradate the image quality. Below are two examples comparing the effect of the polarizing filter.

Here, we can see the benefits of the polarizing filter removing glare and providing more color saturation. Another useful accessory is a monopod. It will help stabilze the camera and lens and help relieve the strain on your arms and shoulders. Two more benefits are that many places allow the use of a monopod but not a tripod and it is easier to move around. It is recommended that you purchase a good quality one that is very sturdy. In this manner you will not have to rebuy in the future.

This is a carbon fiber monopod. It is very compact and very light and easy to handle. It goes with-out question that high-speed memory cards should be used. There are many brands available and it would be best to select one that has a reasonable amout of volume (32GB or more) and a fast write speed. In summary, ideally the lenses should be aperture fixed and not variable and have vibration reduction mode if it is not in the camera body. A zoom lens is more practical and avoids having to change a lens in the field. A nice lens set would include a 24-70 or 120mm f4 and a 70-200mm f4. A f4 constant aperture lens is reasonably priced, has fast focus acquisition and is very sharp and clear for great images. If you plan on doing evening photos, a 70-200mm f2.8 lens would be a better choice. In the next and last article, discussion will be on consolidating all of the information presented, intial camera setting, compositions and some track savvy.

TECHNICAL WIZARDRY What’s in a Name? Pedro P. Bonilla, Tech Editor Reprint from July 2022 If you read my articles, you may remember the one titled ‘Numerology’, where we tried to simplify the digital nomenclature that Porsche has utilized to designate it’s models since inception. I’m referring to the partial list of: 356, 550, 718, 911, 912, 914, 917, 918, 919, 924, 928, 929, 930, 932, 934, 935, 944, 935, 951, 956, 959, 962, 964, 968, 968, 980, 986, 987, 981, 989, 991, 992 ,993 ...... and that’s just the sports cars. But Porsche has also tagged some monikers to some of its icons. Where do those names come from and what is their significance? Carrera This name first appeared on a 1955 356A. This moniker makes reference to Porsche’s success in the 1953 Carrera Panamericana endurance road race held in Mexico. In 1974, the same name was tagged onto the Carrera RS. After that, the name Carrera has become synonymous with 911. In 2004 Porsche again specifically used the name to identify its second supercar: The Carrera GT.

Targa In model year 1967, Porsche first tagged a new version of the 911 as a Targa. Like the name Carrera, Targa was used to reference to the Italian (Sicily) Targa Florio open-road race where Porsche had experienced great success. The Targa was Porsche’s response to the rumors that convertibles could soon be banned in the US market. Therefore they made a convertible with an integrated roll bar. In the Targa’s Owner’s Manual it states: “Someday all convertibles will have an integrated roll bar”. Nowadays they all do.

Turbo In the Spring of 1975 the Porsche 930 Turbo was launched. It was a turbocharged version of the 911. This model quickly rose to the top of Porsche’s lineup and eventually the word Turbo even surpassed it’s physical meaning of an internal combustion engine’s forced induction transcending to the full electric 2020 Taycan Turbo.

Spyder Meaning a lighter, nimbler version of a sports car, the first use by Porsche came in 1955 when they introduced the 550 Spyder. The name came from the horse-drawn carriages of the 1800s. The lighter, less cumbersome 2-person carriages with tall wooden wheel spokes somewhat resembled spiders and the name stuck. Later, auto makes would tack Spider or Spyder on their special, lightweight sport cars. In modern times, Porsche calls the top-of-the-line Boxster, the Spyder which is equivalent in performance to the Cayman’s GT4. And then, there’s the legendary 918 Spyder.

Boxster In 1993 Porsche introduced the Boxster Prototype at the Detroit Auto Show. It eventually went into production in 1996 as a two-seater convertible. The name Boxster is a contraction of the words “boxer” and “roadster”. Boxer in reference to the “boxer” engine so called because each pair of pistons move in and out like a boxser’s gloves.

Cayman The Central and South American caiman is a powerful yet agile crocodile-like predator. In 2006 the Cayman joined the convertible 987 Boxster as it’s coupe version. They both evolved into the 981 and today into the 982 (718) versions of Porsche’s highly successful 2-seaters.

A Bit of a Unicorn David Behar has owned this 2004 Porsche 911 Turbo X50 Orient Red Metallic since December 21, 2022. Even though this is David’s 3rd 911, it is his first Turbo. He currently owns 3 Porsches: two Cayenne’s and this Turbo. The X50 Performance Package option gives the base Turbo increased power and performance through modifications to the turbo charger, change air cooler, control units and the exhaust system, along with some other enhancements; “450 HP and 0-60 in 3.8,” adds David. With this extra power, one would think David is ready to hit the track, but instead, he has a child seat in the back, and it is the family car. David says, “I bought it to drive and also take my son in it. We enjoy going on trips down to the Keys, cars and coffee events and driving in the mountains, which is a blast.” According to the PCA Porsche color wiki, rennbow.org, Orient Red Metallic rates 3 paint cans, meaning that it is somewhat rare. You will find David’s Porsche in the Orient Red Metallic photo gallery. This Porsche was on display at Porsche West Broward during the Porsche 75th anniversary celebration.
