Following a serious amount of information and fact gathering, we are substantially closer to having GCR members back on the track. Anticipation and enthusiasm seem to be growing!

With our first round of classroom training (“Intro to DE” or DE101) held in November and the first weekend of January 2023, we will move to DE102 next; that is “Car Inspection.” GCR will hold four events at two of our local shops, Foreign Affairs Motorwerks & Parkhaus1, in late January and early February to examine Porsche vehicles. The goal is to help our owners understand how their cars need to be properly inspected and prepared for track use. The two events at Foreign Affairs will be held on Tuesday evenings (January 24th / February 7th) with the . two examinations at Parkhaus1 on Saturday mornings (January 21st and February 11th). Register for these car exams, DE102, is at ClubRegistration.net

After we complete the car inspection process, we will hold a third classroom training, DE103, to be known as “A Day at the Track.” This class will examine anything and everything a DE driver will need to know to be ready for driving at a GCR DE event. That is, what to wear, what to bring, helmet requirement, and other practical information to prepare a driver for a track day.

With completion of the “100-level” course work, we expect to hold a DE201 course. This “200-level” class training will discuss actual driving technique. PCA Instructors will discuss track layout, driving line, corner turn-in, corner apex, track-out points, as well as braking techniques and many subtle keys to driving safely at speed. This DE201 will be designed to provide a novice driver with the knowledge necessary to navigate a racetrack properly.

Finally, we are working with Homestead Miami Speedway to hold TWO (2) GCR DE track days in 2023. Dates have been discussed, and HMS is preparing contracts to send to the club. We will assess the contract and budget the event for Board approval. As soon as the dates and budget have been approved, we intend to announce the full reintroduction of the Gold Coast Region Driver Education program. Watch Club “enews” for announcements as well as ClubRegistration.net. Let’s go drivin’!!!
