The Google AI Roadshow visited schools across the North Island earlier this year with the support of PB Tech, Using Technology Better and Fusion Network.
The event had educators (such as primary/secondary school teachers, IT leads, senior leadership teams, and administrators) immersed in learning about the practical applications of AI for managing classroom workloads, time saving measures that allow educators to focus on their teaching, inspiring creativity, and developing future-proof AI policy for their school.
AI experts ran keynote sessions highlighting how tools such as Google Gemini and NotebookLM support deeper learning, smarter workflows, and creating more efficient school systems, capping the day off with a hands-on workshop to apply the lessons learned.
PB Tech, Google, UTB, and Fusion Networks coming together on this initiative gave educators confidence that these top tier partners can help them with vision, procurement, training and overall maintenance of their IT environment.

Manurewa High School and PB Tech transform classrooms with MAXHUB AV solutions
Challenge
Manurewa High School needed to upgrade its ageing classroom projectors. The leadership team—Head of IT, Principal, and Finance Manager—wanted a modern, reliable solution that would enhance teaching and learning while staying within budget. Their previous experience with first-generation interactive whiteboards left them cautious about support and long-term value.
PB Tech’s Approach
PB Tech leveraged its long-standing relationship with the school to understand their goals and concerns in detail. Through a consultative process, we explored multiple brands and solutions, conducting extensive research to ensure the best fit. Initially, the school faced challenges securing demo units from other vendors, which raised concerns about support and reliability.
The turning point came after an AV-focused PB Tech Connect event, where we introduced the school to Maxhub. As soon as the latest Maxhub U3 panel arrived in New Zealand, PB Tech secured a demo unit for real-world testing in the school’s IT environment. This hands-on experience allowed the school to evaluate the panel’s durability, functionality, and ease of use. To make the upgrade financially manageable, PB Tech recommended a five-year leasing plan, enabling the school to modernise more classrooms at once without a large upfront cost.

Teachers are now able to access their cloud drives directly from the panel, open documents, present, and collaborate with students using the built-in Android system rather than having to connect their laptop every time. They can also save their whiteboarding sessions and revisit them later—eliminating wasted time erasing the board at the end of each lesson.
