GOALS

We envision a Rhode Island where all seniors live nourished lives with independence and dignity. Meals on Wheels of RI programs directly address the issues of food insecurity and social isolation that are known risk factors for negative health outcomes and loss of independence amongst older adults. Operating without disruption during the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2020, we served a total of 3,353 Rhode Islanders: 2,748 homebound clients with more than 336,000 meals through the Home-Delivered Meal Program and 605 clients through the Capital City Café Program.

FUNDRAISING/EVENTS

In 2020 & 2021, our only annual fundraiser, Festival of Meals, could not be held as a traditional, in-person event. However, we must still raise much-needed funds to ensure we can continue our vital work in the community while working to meet an increased need for our services. As an independent nonprofit organization, every dollar donated to Meals on Wheels of RI goes directly toward helping a Rhode Islander at risk of poor health related to lack of proper nutrition, safety, and socialization.

OPPORTUNITIES

DONATE: A donation of $50 will help provide a full week’s worth of meals to a Rhode Island senior this holiday season. Each meal is accompanied by a vital well-being check, that in many cases has saved a life, and a critical social visit with one of our friendly delivery drivers. Donate online at www.rimeals.org. VOLUNTEER: Whether you have one day per week or one day per month, we could use your help in delivering meals to our homebound seniors. Each year, we rely on the partnership of hundreds of volunteers to help us enact our mission and deliver so much more than a meal to seniors in need.
