SunQuest Cruises owner James Murray has always been driven by the philosophy to evolve his business through bringing something exceptionally unique to his clientele.
In 2004, the company launched the 125-foot SOLARIS in Sandestin, the only dining and entertainment yacht between Jacksonville and New Orleans. Offering live entertainment and awardwinning local cuisine, all-inclusive weddings, and custom
holiday and private event cruises, SunQuest established itself as one of the top-rated experiences in Destin.
Today, SunQuest has transformed into one of the Gulf Coast’s biggest destination wedding venues.
“We are as much an event company now as we are a boat company,” says Murray. “We have become a one-stopshop for weddings and events with our staff of experienced event planners. We provide 100 percent full-service events with our own floral department, skilled photographers, catering and rental services, and just about everything you could need.”
SunQuest’s offerings extend beyond SOLARIS, featuring SunVenture I and SunVenture II, two open-air boats capable of carrying 49 passengers each. From the Destin Harbor, they provide Crab Island excursions and sunset dolphin cruises, in addition to seasonal fireworks cruises. This past April, Murray revealed a new addition to their fleet.

“The look, feel, and comfort of the SOL y LUNA is such that we will also be able to host more upscale events—welcoming ceremonies, wedding receptions, ceremonies, and formal events,” Murray says. “Unlike our two smaller boats, this has a second deck and is a lot more unique than other boats you see around this area. It’s an eye-catcher.”
Aboard this elevated vessel, Murray says the top deck is best suited for small, 60-person weddings, where brides and grooms can get married by the captain with breathtaking panoramic views. Meanwhile, the spacious lower deck is an ideal event venue, boasting room for catering, libations, and plenty of room for dancing and mingling.
“We celebrated 273 events in 2024, and the best part is our venue is open to anyone—you can bring in your own event planners and services and enjoy the ride,” Murray says. “Our service-oriented approach and dedicated staff are always excited to personalize your event and help create lasting memories.”
