ollier County has such an impressive caliber of local talent and community commitment that it’s always a challenge to winnow the honorees for this annual publication. While this presents a challenge for the staff at Naples Illustrated, the publisher of The Naples 100, it is a true testament to the quantity of people who enhance the quality of life in the greater Naples area for everyone.

We see a genuine investment in the community from all sectors: small, locally owned businesses, corporations, public servants, nonprofits, and through extraordinary philanthropy. All of these pieces come together to strengthen the mosaic of the Paradise Coast by tackling challenges head-on and planning for the future.

N

ewcomers continue to discover Collier County. Its year-round population has grown 5.9 percent since 2020 to more than 390,000, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Urban refugees from densely populated areas have been discovering the charms of “Naples on the Gulf” for the past six decades, though the numbers have swelled since the pandemic, when working remotely swept the nation. Why not work where you’re steps from the beach? In addition to the sunshine and small-town pace, newcomers are still drawn by less-congested roads, a low crime rate, and world-class dining and shopping.

This influx creates demand for housing, employment, public services, and local infrastructure—and Collier County is stepping up. Many

employers in a range of industries—hospitality, manufacturing, retail, health care, and distribution—are creating jobs. Cultural and health care amenities are expanding, and non-flashy infrastructure upgrades are taking place thanks to a temporary one-cent sales surtax. What’s on the horizon? Here are select highlights.

ART, CULTURE, AND THE ENVIRONMENT The Paradise Coast is a cultural haven brimming with performing and visual artists, private galleries and working artists’ studios, history museums, award-winning art festivals, and established arts districts. Yet the area’s art scene continues to thrive and expand.

Hispanic art and culture through local events, exhibitions, performances, and educational opportunities. It began in 2022 and drew more than 293,000 attendees to programs offered by 20 organizations throughout Collier County. It earned two prestigious SUNsational Awards presented by the Florida Festivals and Events Association. The second season of ¡Arte Viva! was unveiled in September and continues through June.

GROUNDBREAKING FOR THE GULFSHORE PLAYHOUSE BAKER THEATRE AND EDUCATION CENTER

Last year, the Conservancy of Southwest Florida opened its new 15,000-square-foot, 30-bed Environmental Studies Dormitory, enabling the nonprofit organization to grow its internship program. Each year, approximately 40 interns live and work on the campus in environmental education, sea turtle and Burmese python research, and at the von Arx Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital. Rising housing costs make it a challenge to draw interns, who can live for free on the campus. “As we compete for regional, national, and global talent for conservation interns, this wonderful new facility puts the conservancy on the cutting edge to be competitive in attracting the best candidates,” says Conservancy President/CEO Rob Moher. “Through our internship program we are shaping the conservation leaders of the future.”

Gulfshore Playhouse Cultural Campus In October, Gulfshore Playhouse is planning to open its brand-new, $72 million cultural campus featuring the 40,000-square-foot Baker Theatre and Education Center on a three-acre campus near the intersection of First Avenue South and Goodlette-Frank Road. A three-story parking garage is also planned for the site.

The Naples Players/Sugden Community Theatre Not too far away, The Naples Players is winding up a $20 million renovation and expansion of the Sugden Community Theatre on Fifth Avenue South thanks to the generosity of local arts angels. “You don’t look very far in Naples without seeing an example of generosity and shared vision,” says The Naples Players CEO and Executive Artistic Director Bryce Alexander. “People love Naples, and they continue to invest in our community.” In addition to staging live productions, The Naples Players partners with 40 local organizations on wellness and outreach programs and runs the popular KidzAct program. The rejuvenated, energy-efficient building will offer unparalleled accessibility through a sensory-friendly seating box and state-of-the-art hearing assistance technologies. The Sugden Community Theatre is planned to open in two phases in March and June.

Arts & Culture Strategic Plan The Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention & Visitors Bureau and the creative community are working to execute the Arts & Culture Strategic Plan, launched in 2020 as a long-term collaborative project to elevate Collier County as a cultural destination. The first project has been the successful, community-wide ¡Arte Viva! initiative celebrating A CONSERVANCY OF SOUTHWEST FLORIDA INTERN HOLDS A GECKO.

phases are continually opening at the 180-acre complex in East Naples. It will ultimately feature 21 turf fields: 10 Olympic fields for soccer, football, and lacrosse, and six baseball and five softball/youth baseball diamonds.

Now Open: Big Corkscrew Island Regional Park The county’s largest park with the largest playground is also its newest.

The $51 million, 150-acre park Big Corkscrew Island Regional Park near the Collier Fairgrounds opened in 2023. The hand-built playground includes slides, cable bridges, zip lines, monkey bars, climbing stations, ramps, and therapeutic swings. Visitors also enjoy shaded, solar-powered charging stations.

Get competitive on its pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts or softball and multi-purpose fields. Take your fitness journey outdoors at the innovative National Fitness Campaign Court, where a range of invigorating workouts can be tracked with an accompanying app.

When you’ve worked up a sweat, make a splash at the 8,686 square-foot aquatic complex that opened in October. The watery wonderland features waterslides, family and toddler pools, a competition pool with diving boards, and a party pavilion. This new gem is located at 810 39th Ave. N.E. in East Naples. PARKS & RECREATION Collier County has more than 80 neighborhood, community, and regional parks and Conservation Collier preserves. As more people move into the area, sports and recreation are in high demand, and county officials are working to create and enhance facilities.

REAL ESTATE To meet strong housing demands, a range of housing options are rising throughout the sprawling county. Several planned communities are on the drawing board or in the works in rural Collier County in the eastern reaches. The town of Big Cypress will connect two new villages known as Rivergrass and Bellmar. These projects, approved last year, are being developed by Collier Enterprises, a member of the Tarpon Blue Family of Companies. There are many new mixed-use projects underway around town, too.

Metropolitan Landmark Rising

Mixed-use buildings—featuring retail, dining, and office space on the ground floor and luxury residences above—are trending. One of the most significant is Metropolitan Naples in the Gateway Triangle area bounded

by U.S. 41 East, Davis Boulevard, and Airport-Pulling Road. Residents are expected to begin moving into the Aura high-rise by the end of the year.

“The impact in the community will be huge. Metropolitan Naples will undoubtedly redefine the entire area,” says Ed Gonzalez, director of sales.

It “will become a destination on its own.” The complex will include:

The town of Ave Maria recently received approval from the county to expand by nearly 1,000 acres by annexing surrounding farms, bringing it to 5,000 acres. This total doesn’t include the 1,000-acre Ave Maria University and public amenities. Located about 25 miles east of Naples, Ave Maria consistently ranks as one of the top-selling master-planned communities in the nation where more than 500 homes are sold each year.

It is considered budget-friendly due to its median listing price of $469,450 (substantially below the median for the Greater Naples area and East Coast). Four thousand homes have been built. At build-out in the next 10 to 15 years, there will be 11,000 single-family homes and multifamily units.

HEALTH CARE NCH Healthcare System The Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) and NCH Healthcare System have partnered to bring world-class orthopedic care to Southwest Florida.

Founded in 1863, HSS is the world’s largest academic medical center specialized in musculoskeletal health—ranked No. 1 in orthopedics worldwide by Newsweek and nationwide by U.S. News & World Report.

In November, the organizations broke ground on the program’s new home: an 80,000-square-feet facility at the NCH North Naples Hospital campus. NCH predicts it will become a destination for comprehensive

outpatient and inpatient musculoskeletal services. It will include a jointly owned and operated ambulatory surgery center, clinics, imaging, and rehabilitation services.

Another major project on the drawing boards is the NCH Rooney Heart Institute and NCH Wingard Stroke Institute. The new facility will stand where the Telford Building was located next to the NCH Downtown Baker Hospital. Construction is projected to break ground in late 2024 pending zoning approval. The projected cost is $200 million, which is being made possible by generous donations. Last year, NCH received three historic $20 million gift commitments from: former U.S. Representative Francis and Kathleen Rooney through the Rooney Family Foundation, Don and Diana Wingard, and the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, the philanthropic foundation started by Best Buy founder Dick Schulze.

Great Wolf Lodge South Florida The $250 million Great Wolf Lodge located on 20 acres on the eastern edge of Collier County near the I-75 and Collier Boulevard interchange is planned to open to overnight visitors on October 1 (earlier if certain construction milestones are met). Highlights include: • 500 family-friendly suites • 90,000-square-foot indoor, heated water park • 60,000-square-foot Great Wolf Adventure Park offering a variety of attractions, including its exclusive, live-action MagiQuest • Received a $15 million incentive to build here by the Collier County Board of Commissioners • Expected to hire more than 600 full- and part-time “Pack Members”

AC Hotel Naples 5th Avenue AC Hotel Naples 5th Avenue—prominently positioned at the intersection of GoodletteFrank Road and Fifth Avenue South—opened in December. The three-story property hosts 150 sleek guest rooms, a rooftop pool, a ground-floor café, 2,500 square feet of meeting space, and Limón, a destination rooftop restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The Naples hotel is the hospitality component of Naples Square, a mixed-use development that includes nearly 300 luxury condominium units, multiple restaurants, and the Gulfshore Playhouse campus. The hotel’s public spaces feature the works of local and regional artists. AC Hotels by Marriott boasts more than 150 locations around the world. The hotel, combined with the new performing arts campus and a public parking garage, are heralded as a new gateway to downtown Naples.

The Greater Naples Chamber promoted the 2018 passage of a one-cent sales surtax to raise an estimated $490 million over seven years to fund a slate of much-needed projects. By last summer, the goal had already been met and the tax was terminated in December. It was expected to generate more than $550,000 higher than the goal, pending the final tally. The county shares a portion of the funds with the cities of Naples, Marco Island, and Everglades City. By late last year, the tax money had been approved for 37 projects. It funded or will help fund: • Hurricane resilience projects • Three emergency medical services substation upgrades • A career and technical training center • A Veterans Administration nursing home • Numerous road, bridge, and sidewalk improvements • A central mental health and addiction treatment facility • A new forensic evidence building that will be used by a variety of law enforcement

Since Bryce Alexander arrived at The Naples Players in 2017, the nonprofit community theater organization has experienced significant growth through community partnerships. Its home, Sugden Community Theatre, is undergoing a $20 million expansion and renovation with the goal to make The Naples Players a national model for engaging the community. The new building was designed with a focus on sustainability and accessibility. It is expected to open this year.

Imagine Solutions Conference is a foundation co-created in 2008 by Randy Antik to offer big ideas to audiences that have the power to make a difference. Imagine Solutions brings in national and international experts in an array of fields, including health care, science and technology, social entrepreneurship, leadership, civics, the environment, and the arts. In 2023, it facilitated national programs with Sesame Street Workshop and the National Science Foundation.

Paul Arsenault grew up in Massachusetts, where his love for the sea and travel converged. After graduating from the Art Institute of Boston in 1973, he worked as a deckhand on a research vessel, signing off in Florida. For half a century, Arsenault’s paintings of local vignettes and landscapes have recorded the region’s natural, cultural, and architectural gems. His skill for capturing the essence of coastal communities is enhanced by his passion for history and storytelling.

Athan M. Barkoukis leveraged experiences researching climate change in Antarctica, ocean fish populations, and serving as director of numerous environmental nonprofits to become the first full-time executive director for Friends of Rookery Bay in 2017. The nonprofit supports the 110,000-acre Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve through raising funds to enhance educational outreach and experiences within the dynamic coastal environment.

Benson has been a successful entrepreneur, co-founding or investing in multiple firms that help clients with their wealth planning objectives, including Benson Blackburn, a charitable administration company, and two multi-family offices, with combined assets under administration or management of more than $12 billion. Benson founded the NextGen Speaker Series in 2013 to foster leadership, mentorship, empowerment, and philanthropy in the greater Naples community.

Vincenzo Betulia’s parents wanted him to start working at a young age “in case something bad happened to them.” When he was 14, his father found him a job at a mom-and-pop Italian restaurant where he “fell in love with the action of the business.” Today, the 48-year-old owns and operates five restaurants and a catering division through Campagna Hospitality Group and is proud of the fun company culture he’s created for his 400 employees.

A decade later, she opened the 28,000-square-foot Bigham Galleria, creating one of the largest independent jewelry stores in the country. It was named the “Coolest Jewelry Store in America”

by InStore magazine. She is the proud mother of a grown son and daughter.

Steve Brooder has more than 40 years of for-profit and nonprofit senior management experience. Before moving to Southwest Florida in 2002, Brooder was managing partner of Royce International for 15 years. In 2014, he took the helm of St. Matthew’s House, a 37-year-old nonprofit focused on substance abuse recovery, housing, hunger, and workforce development. It houses more than 400 people and feeds more than 600 every day.

A graduate of Naples High School, Russell Budd earned a bachelor’s degree in building construction before becoming a state-certified general contractor. He founded PBS Contractors in 1986. PBS approaches each commercial or residential project by focusing on lifelong relationships. An active member of the Naples community, Budd has established a set of 28 fundamental practices known as the “PBS Way” to provide a stable company culture and excellent client services.

EDUCATION: Gannon University (MBA) NOTABLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS: He completed the Executive Education Program at Harvard Business School and is a Prosci Certified Change Practitioner.

ADVICE TO 18-YEAR-OLD SELF: Manage your personal finances like a business. A budget is a good start, but you will be rewarded if you take a more active engagement in your future.

He is working with county officials to build a $44 million mental health treatment center to expand local services.

Through a variety of roles in the wealth management industry, Ronald B. Ciesla has more than 40 years of experience advising institutions, corporate executives, business owners, and families of wealth. He began his career in the research department of an investment company in New York City, led the sales effort for the private banking group of another major financial institution in New York City, and came to Northern Trust’s Naples office in 2011.

Since Karen Conley founded the nonprofit Charity for Change in 2008, it has served 10,000 pre-K to fifth-grade children daily through a resiliency curriculum that teaches positive character traits, generosity, and charitable and community involvement in an academic platform. The goal is to build happy, fulfilled, engaged students and to create “a world free of hate, violence, bullying and cruelty.” It has collaborated with 75 nonprofits and a dozen educational partners.

Since 2013, Eileen Connolly-Keesler has led the Collier Community Foundation (CCF), overseeing the foundation’s mission, addressing community needs, and providing collaborative leadership. During the past decade, assets have grown from $62 million to $256 million. Connolly-Keesler has coordinated Collier Comes Together emergency relief funds in the wake of natural disasters and the pandemic. The foundation manages 850-plus funds.

David Corban is an award-winning architect with a dedication to environmental and community sustainability. Recent projects include the Shelly Stayer Shelter, the first purpose-built shelter for human trafficking victims in the United States, the Holocaust Museum & Cohen Education Center, Guadalupe Center’s educational campus, Celebration Park, Lutgert Professional Center, and the current renovation of The Naples Players’ Sugden Community Theatre.

Kristen Coury has spearheaded the development of the Baker Theatre and Education Center, which will have an operating budget of $10 million when it opens this year. She’s come a long way in creating this campus—one of the region’s largest public-private partnerships—since relocating from New York City and founding the nonprofit equity company in a municipal building in 2004. In 2023, she was appointed by Florida State Senator Kathleen C. Passidomo to the Florida State Council for Arts and Culture.

Luca Di Falco got started in the restaurant business at the age of 15 when he studied hospitality and worked at his brother’s restaurant in Sicily. By 18, he was traveling around Italy and working at top hotels. After working in London, he fulfilled a lifelong dream to work for Disney World in Orlando, followed by opportunities in San Diego, Chicago, Miami, and on cruise ships. In 2004, he founded Linga, which creates point-of-sale software systems for Windows, iOS, and browser platforms. It was acquired by PNC Financial Services Group in 2022. Linga’s flagship product is the cloud-based Linga rOS. The native of Turkey travels to 60-plus countries, setting up offices and meeting industry leaders.

Amy Moglia Heuerman maintains a gallery and studio in the Naples Design District and in Bay Harbor, Michigan. She expresses her broad vision in a range of styles, creating layered seascapes, dynamic abstracts, her “girl” series, and impressionistic florals. Heuerman gained renown as an illustrator of children’s books, games, toys, and merchandise through her company, Bear Hug Designs.

She retired the company after 20 years to pursue her passion for painting.

She decided to open Giggle Moon in downtown Naples in 1998-1999 after visiting one of her affluent clients.

With more than two decades of experience in environmental management, Keith Laakkonen oversees the 13,000-acre sanctuary and its 25-person staff responsible for land conservation, research, policy, and public engagement. Laakkonen advances Audubon’s science-based conservation mission to protect the Western Everglades sanctuary and watershed. The Southwest Florida native is an avid birder who earned his bachelor’s in wildlife ecology from the University of Florida.

Rob Moher has 32-plus years of experience in local, regional, and international conservation. At the conservancy, he has served in various roles and raised more than $140 million in philanthropic support. With almost a decade at the helm, he’s the nonprofit’s longest serving CEO. His key focus is to build upon its history while keeping a keen eye on future challenges. Moher believes in collaborative and science-based approaches to balance economic growth with conservation.

With two decades of nonprofit experience, Dawn Montecalvo took the helm in 2016 at Guadalupe Center, which has a mission to break the cycle of poverty through education for children in Immokalee. Each year, the nonprofit provides educational programs to more than 1,750 students. Ricciardelli was selected as interim superintendent by the District School Board of Collier County in 2022 and appointed in May 2023.

Leah D. Ritchey is a 23-year veteran in the local real estate market. After college and working in Illinois, she returned to her hometown of Naples and obtained her real estate license. I am also on the Grant Committee for Amber’s Antibodies, a local charity that donates money to cancer patients to help off set medical expenses. She led FGCU’s efforts to receive a historic $22.9 million grant through the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration bureau.

A resident of Naples for more than 45 years, Vicki Tracy has multiple degrees from prestigious schools including the University of Michigan. She is the recipient of numerous awards for her civic involvement focused on seniors and children.

She has been married to her husband Steve for 34 years. With extensive experience with prestigious startup firms and developments throughout Collier County, she joined Gulf Coast International Properties in 2014.

EDUCATION: University of South Florida (PhD) WHY I CHOSE THIS FIELD: I am an extrovert by nature and really love math. I found my passion in telling stories with numbers—how you can interpret math and relate it to current events and trends.

TOUGHEST CHALLENGE: After moving to Naples from Istanbul, I had my sights on earning my doctorate. But there was one major obstacle: I had absolutely no words in English. So I enrolled in ESL classes. About four months later, I was able to speak, listen, and write in very broken English but it got better with time. I enrolled at the University of South Florida in Tampa to begin my doctoral program. That came with another challenge for my audacious plan: I traveled from Naples to Tampa four days a week for four years.

His wealth of health care leadership includes 24 years of service in the military, where he progressed from a combat medic to a Medical Service Corps officer; he was assigned to multiple deployments.

Now in her twelfth season at the helm of Artis—Naples, home of The Baker Museum and the Naples Philharmonic, Kathleen van Bergen continues to chart an ambitious course for the regional destination. She has broadened the organization’s multidisciplinary programming, with a mission dedicated to the visual and performing arts while ensuring fiscal stability. During her tenure, organizational debt has been eliminated and the balance sheet has more than doubled. She holds a degree in violin performance.

SECRET TO SUCCESS: Being technically competent and execution. I always say to my team I prefer “ed” over “ing.” Ing means we are working, fixing, and trying; we should be past tense, completed, finished, and mission complete.

FAVORITE TRAVEL DESTINATION: I have had the opportunity to travel both for leisure and on military assignments, but Paris is most memorable. Last year, my wife and I celebrated Christmas in Paris. The vibrant culture, history, and world-class cuisine make it an exceptional destination.

FAVORITE COLLIER COUNTY PLACE TO VISIT: Through my travels of the world from one end to another, I have never experienced the sunset that Naples has.

As CEO of Better Together, Megan Rose leads the way toward empowering families and preventing the need for foster care, and that means doing whatever is necessary to help people avoid crisis and, when necessary, recover from disasters such as Hurricane Ian. From the wreckage left in the wake of the storm, Megan and her organization emerged, committed to helping families in distress and preventing the fractures that crises often bring. With families grappling with homelessness, medical emergencies, and the daunting task of rebuilding, Better Together swiftly mobilized, delivering supplies and checking on families, ensuring no one faced the devastation alone.

In all, the team knocked on 10,000 doors, extending support to 6,500 families and serving 5,500 warm meals. As Christmas quickly approached, Megan’s team also helped families place gifts under their trees, ensuring that joy could still find its way into their lives. A year later, the Better Together team visited various neighborhoods, many of which are still in the midst of recovery and without power, to deliver 300+ solar powered lights to more than 100 households.

New roofs aren’t the typical needs they address, but it is in keeping with their solution-oriented approach to any crisis, which is a collective effort of Better Together staff, volunteers, and supporters working tirelessly to restore faith and stability – whatever it takes.

From providing temporary housing for displaced children to connecting job seekers with employers, Better Together’s impactful work wouldn't be possible without dedicated volunteers, church partners, community collaborators, and supporters. But at the heart of it all is Megan Rose.

Coldest Founder and CEO David David Ahmad Ahmad launched the company from and Joe Ahmad a rented one-car garage in Naples Park in 2015. Three years later, his twin brother Joe joined the operation that creates sustainable water bottles—the “last you’ll ever need”—that keep beverages cool up to 100 hours. It’s gone on to become a national bestseller with an expanded product line of linens, pillows, ice vests, and dog bowls and beds, which are sold at its flagship store in Coastland Center. Both brothers have bachelor’s degrees in engineering. The pair was featured on Good Morning America in the fall and Shark Tank Season 15. Coldest is ranked 480 on Inc.’s list of the 500 fastest-growing companies in the United States.

What do you bring to the table?

“My main focus is engineering, designing, and bringing to market the best, coldest products that customers will love and use every day. I definitely carry too many hats at the moment as does Joe. On a daily basis, I am working with our factories and logistics, design, engineering, operations, and marketing teams, while scaling distribution. It’s tremendously challenging, but I love it. East West Fine Art was founded in Naples in 2000 by Olga Arkhangelskaya, who had been active in Russian American cultural activities at the Russian Embassy in Washington, D.C. In 2013, she was joined by her daughter, Leeza Arkhangelskaya. Olga, a graduate of Harvard University and a Pew Fellow, is the director. Leeza, the owner, earned degrees from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and American University. The gallery specializes in contemporary international artists from more than 20 countries with a focus on Russian and Eastern European fine art with two gallery two locations: Mercato and Fifth Avenue South.

After 34 years of marriage and eight restaurants opened, Ingrid and Fabrizio Aielli still enjoy working and creating together, whether it’s serving memorable meals or passionately supporting local nonprofits. They ran three successful restaurants in Washington D.C., before selling them and relocating to Naples in 2007. Today, he is the chef and she is the force behind the business and marketing operations of Aielli Group’s five restaurants: Sea Salt, Sea Salt St. Pete, Barbatella, Dorona, and Grappino. In addition to creating jobs for more than 300 employees, the Aiellis are admired for their philanthropic generosity and community support.

How do you separate your professional and personal life?

Chez Boët, Naples Originals, Voyage Boët, Boutique Boët

Philippe and Lisa Boët married in LeMans, France, 34 years ago. They left Paris for Naples in January 1995, eventually chucking their jobs here to establish their healthful, relaxed French restaurant Chez Boët in 2003.

As entrepreneurs, the Boëts founded Naples Originals to support locally owned restaurants in 2009. They found ways to share their Francophile passion through Voyage Boët—organizing and hosting culinary and wine explorations to different regions of France—as well as the online Boutique Boët selling imports of French linens, Parisian handbags, and table-top specialties.

How do you separate your professional and personal life?

Jay and Patty Baker have made an indelible impact in Collier County, and in many locales throughout the United States—and the world.

He is a former Kohl’s Department Stores president and director, and she is a Tony Award-winning Broadway producer. They jumped into local philanthropy shortly after arriving in Naples in the mid-1990s. Today, their names are honored at the many venues and institutions in which they have been major benefactors: The Baker Museum at Artis-Naples; NCH Downtown Baker Hospital and Jay and Patty Baker Patient Care Tower at North Naples Hospital; Baker Park; Baker Field sportsplex at the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County; and Baker Senior Center Naples. The latest is coming this year when the curtain rises at Gulfshore Playhouse’s Baker Theatre and Education Center. They also support Humane Society Naples, Golden PAWS Assistance Dogs, and The Naples Players and new Kizzie Theatre at the Sugden Community Theatre opening this spring.

What traits do you most admire in each other?

Emily K. Bua has been in the real estate industry since 1977, including seven years as a regional manager for Coldwell Banker Real Estate. She has also managed two major U.S. corporate relocation departments before moving to Naples in 1993. Her oldest daughter, entrepreneurial-spirited Tade Bua-Bell, joined her mother in 2005 after receiving a marketing degree from the University of Pittsburgh and working as a regional manager running a dozen offices for a national real estate company. Tade is a broker associate for Emily K. Bua and Tade Bua-Bell the high-producing Bua Bell Group. Mark and Karen Danni decided “to bring Broadway to Naples” after relocating from New York City in 2005 when Mark was hired by the Community School of Naples to launch its theater program. Karen, a choreographer, was pregnant with their twins, and they already had an infant son, but they danced ahead with establishing the professional equity TheatreZone. Its contract with the Actors’ Equity Association ensures access to the best performers and stage management professionals nationwide. Today, 200-plus professional actors from across the country come to Naples to audition for roles in TheatreZone productions at the private school’s 250-seat theater. In 2018, Mark won the Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music Alumni Achievement Award.

TheatreZone collaborates with other local performing arts organizations and Florida Gulf Coast University students.

Both graduates of the University of Florida, John DeAngelis and David Diamond established DeAngelis Diamond in Naples in 1996, which has grown into an award-winning national construction management firm with eight offices across the country.

DeAngelis is president and Diamond is the CEO of the firm that has managed $4 billion-plus David Diamond and John DeAngelis in projects, is licensed in 37 states, and has earned more than 200 prestigious accolades. Through more than three decades, the Naples-based Thomas Riley Artisans’ Guild evolved from furniture restoration and finishing into a full-service woodworking company with a sterling reputation for artisanal millwork and cabinetry. Its namesake founder, Thomas Riley, set the bar high. Today, his sons, Matt and Ben, have continued to grow and evolve the company as design tastes change for their clients stretching from Beverly Hills to Greenwich to Palm Beach. What began as Concepts In Design in an Ohio home-based studio in 1980 transformed as Barb Zella and daughter Jenn Zella cofoundBarb Zella ed CID Design Group in 2001 which ushered in and Jenn Zella a new era of vision and growth for their firm.

With a batch of national projects across the Midwest, Washington, D.C., and Florida, the firm’s five employees relocated their main studio to Naples in 2004. Today, the firm has 25 remote designers and a team spanning from California to New York with 60-plus employees company-wide. With a focus on multifamily and hospitality interior and brand design, projects span 33 states, 85 cities, Canada, the Caribbean, and Europe. CID is listed on Interior Design magazine’s “100 Giants” and is working for many of the largest developers nationwide. CID recently launched its first product, a tile collection, as part of its CID Collective Artist Series.

Ralph C. and Shelly Stayers’ generosity has had a significant impact since the couple moved to Naples 14 years ago—while simultaneously leaving legacies in other communities. The Stayers co-own Johnsonville Sausage and she is the third (and first female) board chair of the global company founded 78 years ago by Ralph’s father. Their causes have ranged from Artis-Naples and The Baker Museum to the Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples and the Naples Children & Education Foundation. The Shelter for Abused Women & Children’s Shelly Stayer Shelter for Human Trafficking and Domestic Violence, the first of its kind in the nation, opened in Immokalee in 2020. The Stayers co-chaired the 2024 Naples Winter Wine Fest, one of the most prestigious wine auctions in the country.
