WELCOME HOME TO HOSPITALITY WITH HEART
Iam delighted to welcome you to Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa.
As we enter our 42nd season, I am reminded every day why this resort feels like home — not just for me but for the generations of families who return year after year.
Hospitality with Heart is more than a theme for us; it is the very foundation of how we care for our guests. For more than 20 years, I have had the privilege of working alongside a team that treats every detail as an opportunity to create lasting memories. From the smile that greets you at check-in to the thoughtful touches waiting in your guest room, our team members genuinely love what they do — and it shows.
This property has grown and evolved in remarkable ways, including a $35 million renovation that refreshed our guest rooms, enhanced meeting spaces and reimagined our indoor pool experience. Families can now gather for poolside fun with interactive water features or share the joy of crafting their own pizzas in our new brick-oven restaurant. For an unforgettable evening, Seagar’s Prime Steaks & Seafood continues to set the standard, while Serenity by the sea Spa o ers the ultimate retreat.
Yet what makes this place extraordinary is not only our amenities, but the heart behind them. Many of our associates have been here for decades. They celebrate milestones with returning guests, watch children grow up and now welcome those children back with families of their own. This deep sense of connection extends beyond our doors, too. We are proud to support local charities and cultural organizations because caring for our community is part of who we are.
Whether this is your first visit or your 50th, my hope is that you feel not only cared for, but truly at home. Thank you for choosing Hilton Sandestin, proudly welcoming you with the hospitality of Hilton, The World’s Iconic Host. If there is anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable, know that my team and I are always here for you.
Warmly,

HEART OF THE STAY
From festivals to family milestones, the Concierge at Hilton Sandestin curates
each stay with a personal touch
BY CARRIE HONAKER
At Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa, hospitality with heart is more than a promise; it’s the way every stay is crafted. Nowhere is that more evident than with the Concierge team, led by Suzy Hogle. A longtime Emerald Coast visitor turned local expert, Hogle has helped guests design meaningful vacations here for nearly four years. Her philosophy is simple: Listen carefully, anticipate needs, and create memories that last.
That care begins long before checkin. Guests who email concierge@ HiltonSandestinBeach.com or call ahead receive tailored planning guides, festival calendars and practical information — like how to use the complimentary resort tram. The team also assists with special arrangements, including golf tee times and off-the-beaten-path adventures. “We’ve decorated spaces for 50th anniversaries, birthdays and even a family celebrating after a guest finished chemo,” Hogle recalls. “Moments like that are why we love what we do.”
Once you arrive, the Concierge becomes your bridge to both the resort and the region. Want a table at Seagar’s Prime Steaks & Seafood, the area’s only AAA Four-Diamond steakhouse? A dolphin cruise for the kids? Champagne waiting after a round of golf? The Concierge makes it seamless.
And while the beaches may lure you here, Hogle delights in showing that there’s so much more: Baytowne Wharf festivals, Seascape live outdoor concerts, Sinfonia Gulf Coast A-list performances, and the 30A Songwriters Festival. Add in three nearby state parks, Grand Boulevard shopping center, and the Emerald Coast Theatre Company, and every day holds new possibilities.
As Hogle sums it up: “We love to personalize our guests’ experiences, but we need them to make that first contact. We love helping enhance their day in any way we can. With a little notice, we’re going to make their stay the best it can be,” says Hogle. That’s hospitality with heart — thoughtful, proactive and always personal.
TAKE A TIP
FROM SUZY
◆ Plan Ahead. “The earlier you reach out, the more we can do,” she says. Guests who reach out in advance receive resources on everything from dining reservations to event calendars to fishing charters. Her team can also help with special arrangements (like surprise birthday décor, anniversary touches or accessibility needs, like beach wheelchairs), so every guest feels cared for.
◆ Best Time to Visit. “September and October are my favorite months,” she shares. “The Gulf is still warm, the weather is gorgeous and the beaches are quieter.” For festive energy, she points to July 4th (“our Super Bowl”), or the 30A Songwriters Festival in January, where Hilton Sandestin even hosts performances on-site.
◆ Fun Beyond the Beach. From wine festivals at Baytowne Wharf and Grand Boulevard to 30A day trips, there’s always something happening nearby. “There’s so much to explore beyond the sand. We love showing guests that we have lots of incredible offerings right here outside the resort.”
◆ Her Mantra: Reach out, relax and let the Concierge curate the details.
Hospitality with Heart
MEET TORREY NOTZ PAINTER
For Torrey Notz, every day at Hilton Sandestin is a chance to make something better — one wall, one repair or one smile at a time. Born in Vail, Colorado, and now living in Niceville, Florida, Notz thrives on teamwork and cra smanship.
“I love the teamwork,” he says. “You get to fi x things and work together to finish the job.”
As part of the engineering and maintenance team, Notz plays a behind-the-scenes yet essential role in ensuring guests experience the resort at its best. His approach to service is grounded in reliability and responsiveness.
“I make sure to answer guests’ questions as best as possible, and if I don’t know, I’ll ask a manager,” he explains. Hard work, he adds, is his greatest strength, and it shows.
For Notz, Hilton Sandestin's atmosphere is “welcoming, vibrant and personalized,” a reflection of the pride he and his teammates take in their work. When he’s not helping maintain the resort, he enjoys recommending family fun at The Track or highlighting hidden gems like the resort’s brick-oven pizza. If he weren’t in hospitality, Notz says he’d still be in construction. “I’ve been doing it pretty much all my life,” he says, and it shows in every detail.
MEET GREG FRANKLIN CARPENTER
For Greg Franklin, cra smanship is more than a skill; it’s a form of care. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, now living in Miramar Beach, Franklin joined Hilton Sandestin four years ago a er encouragement from his wife, who also works at the resort.
“She’s a massage therapist here and thought I’d be a great fit,” he says with a grin.
As part of the engineering team, Franklin takes pride in the unseen details that keep the property running smoothly. “What we take care of in our department helps people enjoy their time here,” he explains. Known for his meticulous attention to detail, Franklin believes small fixes can make a big di erence.
“It’s the little things that separate a great experience from a good one.”
He appreciates the gratitude guests show when the team resolves an issue quickly and the satisfaction of maintaining a place where memories are made daily. If he weren’t keeping Hilton in top shape, Franklin says he’d be flying: “I have my pilot’s license, and flying has always been my passion.”

INDULGE IN REFINED WELLNESS
AT SERENITY BY THE SEA
From soothing massages to touchless innovations, every service is crafted for balance and beauty amid the spa’s fresh, modern transformation
BY CARRIE HONAKER
At Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa’s Serenity by the sea Spa, hospitality runs deeper than a warm welcome. It’s an atmosphere carefully nurtured by Director of Spa Operations Shanelle Lucas and Assistant Spa Director Jerralyn Karakorn, who see self-care not as a luxury but a necessity. “Our spa guests are like our second family,” says Lucas. “We know their names, their stories, and they know us. That connection is at the heart of what we do.”
That spirit of care infuses every corner of the spa’s 14,500-square-foot facility. With 15 treatment rooms, including a newly refreshed couples’ suite, they offer an extensive menu of massages, facials and body treatments. Classic favorites like the Deep Tissue massage are designed to melt tension, while specialty treatments such as the Golfer’s Massage improve mobility. And while many think of spas as a woman’s domain, Serenity is
changing that perception. “Men love going to the spa,” says Lucas. “They come in on their own and ask for a 90-minute HydraFacial or our beard treatment.”
Guests seeking a modern take on wellness can explore adding on touchless treatments with Hydrojet Massage or Prism Red Light Pad. And the spa continues to expand with new offerings, including the Princess Facial from the eco-friendly Nelly De Vuyst line. “The best thing about this brand is that they even have a facial dedicated to menopausal skin,” explains Karakorn. “Everything is clean, organic and focused on results.”
Alongside these therapies, their fullservice salon provides manicures, pedicures, hair services and makeup. Packages like the Day of Bliss weave together spa and salon favorites into a full day of indulgence, complete with light bites. Guests can also bring a piece of Serenity home through products from trusted partners like Circadia and Phytomer.
VOYA, a wellness and skin care line rooted in organic, cruelty-free seaweed-based products, is especially meaningful. Serenity by the sea Spa partners with them to provide certified Cancer Wellness services, offering treatments that are safe, supportive and tailored for those
who have undergone or are currently receiving cancer treatment. Beyond treatments, amenities extend the sense of care. Men’s and women’s lounges feature whirlpools, saunas, steam rooms and relaxation areas, while double-layer microfiber robes and comfy slippers encourage lingering. Spa guests also receive access to Hilton Sandestin’s fitness center complete with Peloton bikes. Plan to arrive early, or linger after your appointment to fully enjoy the spa’s lounges and fitness center before check-in or after checkout. You may also purchase a day pass (no appointment necessary) to indulge in all the soothing spa amenities.
A hub for community and connection, the annual Circadia Pool Party blends education with fun through mini services, facials, music and cocktails. “It started as a way to reward our members, but we want locals to feel welcome here, too,” says Karakorn. “Hospitality with heart means opening our doors to everyone, whether they’re here for a wedding weekend, a birthday or just a personal reset.”

MEET ANA VENTURA MASSAGE THERAPIST, SERENITY BY THE SEA SPA
At Serenity by the sea Spa, Ana Mirza Ventura turns every session into an experience of renewal. Born in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, and now residing in Crestview, Ventura brings decades of expertise in massage, education and customer care to her role.
“It all goes back to the joy of making people happy through personalized service,” she says.
For Ventura, true hospitality is about anticipation — exceeding expectations before a guest even realizes they have one. Whether it’s o ering champagne and fruit to celebrate a milestone or creating a serene moment by the spa’s fireplace, she delights in cra ing unforgettable experiences.
One of her most cherished memories came when a loyal member introduced Ventura to her daughter as “the massage therapist who will take care of you.” It was a moment that a rmed her impact.
To Ventura, For the Stay means ensuring every guest feels a “wow” from start to finish. Her favorite hidden gem? The spa’s luxurious couple’s suite, complete with a cozy fireplace and room for relaxation.
MEET RICHARD YOUNG SPA GUEST COORDINATOR
For seven years, Richard Young has been a calm and friendly presence at Serenity by the sea Spa, where he welcomes guests into an atmosphere of comfort, relaxation and care.
“I enjoy working in a dynamic and fast-paced organization that allows me to grow personally and professionally,” he says. It’s that balance of energy and empathy that makes him such an integral part of the spa experience.
Young finds meaning in connection with both guests and colleagues. “The members and guests that come to the hotel bring so many life stories,” he reflects. “You get to see and hear what they’re going through.” Among his many fond memories is one that remains close to his heart. A longtime guest once shared a homemade meal of venison with him, a gesture of friendship that Young treasures to this day.
Whether ensuring guests have everything they need or stepping beyond his department to help, Young’s hospitality shines through his communication, kindness and attention to detail. His favorite part of the spa? “The cold plunge shower and Hydrojet massage,” he says with a smile. To him, hospitality with heart means “going above and beyond to make each guest’s day memorable.”

The Links, the resort’s original course, has been welcoming and challenging golfers for more than fi ve decades. Designed by renowned architect Tom Jackson, The Links treats golfers to breathtaking views of Choctawhatchee Bay and Baytowne Marina. Not only do the coastal breezes help tame the Florida sun, but they also offer a good challenge on this true links-style course that has fi ve waterfront holes. The Links course has four sets of tees to choose from and challenges golfers of any skill level. Take a swing on a course that’s been named one of the “Top 100 Courses in Florida” by Florida Golf
BURNT PINE GOLF CLUB
Burnt Pine, designed by Rees Jones, brother of designer Robert Trent Jones Jr., offers golfers a one-of-a-kind experience throughout its expansive 7,000 yards, which include rolling fairways and strategically placed bunkers. The front nine at Burnt Pine takes players through pine forests and wetlands, while the back nine spotlights charming views of Choctawhatchee Bay. Golf Magazine has called Burnt Pine the “Crown Jewel of Florida Golf.” Seasonal and limited tee times are available.
RAVEN GOLF CLUB
It’s not every day you get to play on a course where the pros sank birdies. The Raven Golf Club, twice a stop on the PGA Champions Tour, affords you that luxury. Some of the country’s best amateur golfers played Raven as part of the Division III National Championship in 2013. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., brother of Rees Jones, this course is just what the doctor ordered if you want to work every club in your bag. It meanders through wetlands, marshes and pine trees throughout Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Golfweek named Raven one of the “Best Courses You Can Play” on four occasions.
BAYTOWNE GOLF CLUB
Accolades galore have been written about the course at Baytowne Golf Club, and they are well-deserved. This unique course has earned a 4.5-star rating from Golf Digest and features a variety of elevation changes, which is uncommon for courses in this region. Designed by Tom Jackson, this is the only golf course along Florida’s Gulf Coast that stretches from the Gulf of Mexico to Choctawhatchee Bay. Baytowne Golf was home to the women’s 2013 NCAA Division III National Championship. The course’s five tee locations offer a challenge no matter the skill level or handicap.

Year-round fun in the sun for all ages is the focus of the friendly Hilton Sandestin Beach recreation team.
LEGACY OF FUN
Recreation that keeps guests coming back year after year
BY CARRIE HONAKER
From sandcastle lessons to dive-in movies, the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa recreation team creates opportunities for families, couples and conference groups to make memories that last long a er the vacation ends.
Ti any Howell, Director of Recreation, knows that firsthand. She began her career at Hilton Sandestin as a Pool Hut Attendant and progressed to become the department’s leader. Together, Howell and Assistant Director of Recreation Caidan Cryar design experiences that meet the moment — whether it’s a rainy a ernoon or a sunny holiday weekend.
“As the ‘Director of Fun’, I’m lucky to help our guests create unforgettable memories every day. Whether it’s spotting dolphins or guiding a beach activity, it’s all about giving our guests moments they’ll remember,” Howell shares.
Each summer, guests enjoy a host of daily activities from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Last summer brought music bingo at Barefoot’s Beachside Bar & Grill, poolside face painting, pickleball tournaments and the wildly popular live Mermaid and Bubble Show. Sunday night dive-in movies at the indoor pool were also a family favorite.
Outdoor fun always beckons, from beach volleyball to watersports. Guests can rent kayaks or paddleboards and take advantage of the calm, crystal-clear Gulf waters. “The best way to unwind is just being on the water,” the “director of fun” says. “Most days it’s like glass out there — calm, clear and absolutely gorgeous.”
Families also flock to sandcastle-building lessons with local expert Dan in the Sand. “It’s a huge hit,” Howell says. “We’ve hosted lessons for weddings, holiday events and even corporate retreats. Guests love it.”
The indoor pool area recently received an upgrade with non-slip, low-impact flooring, leveled spaces for accessibility and floor-to-ceiling windows with Gulf views. At night, LED
lights make swimming even more magical. Private cabanas around the outdoor pool are also available to rent, adding a touch of luxury to long summer days. Beach time is, of course, essential. Guests can book chairs beginning January 1 each year. “We accommodate walk-ups, but if you want that front row, reserve early,” Howell advises.
For this recreation dynamic duo, though, the real joy is watching families return year a er year. “We’ve seen families grow up here,” Howell says. “Some kids that I’ve watched grow up here are now bringing their own children. It’s incredible to be part of their lives and traditions.” Cryar agrees: “It’s amazing to see kids who were our guests return as adults to make new memories. We’re here to make sure every generation has fun, just like the last.”
Howell sums it up best: “The beach and pool areas are where guests unwind and relax with their families and create memories. I’ve been doing this for 22 years, and I have the best o ce in the world. Why would I do anything else?”
TIPS WITH ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF RECREATION, CAIDAN CRYAR:
1. BOOK EARLY: “One tip I always give: Reserve your beach chairs in advance. Reservations open January 1, and you can secure your spot right on our website. You can also watch our social media for updates and rental information.”
2. UNPLUG: “Challenge yourself to put down your phone and enjoy the waves. You never know when you’ll spot a dolphin or sea turtle.”
3. MORNING MAGIC: “The calmest waters are in the morning — perfect for paddleboarding or kayaking.”
Beach chair setups, kayaking, paddleboarding and beach volleyball are just the beginning of the endless fun under the Hilton Sandestin Beach sun.
MEET KHALIL WILLIAMS BEACH ATTENDANT
For eight years, Beach Attendant Khalil Williams has been greeting guests with a smile that’s as bright as the Emerald Coast. Born in San Diego and raised near the water as a Navy o cer’s son, Williams says the beach “just feels like home.”
His role allows him to combine his love for people and the outdoors, helping guests unwind, share stories and soak in the coastal serenity. One memorable moment was reuniting with a returning family who didn’t realize they were speaking to the same attendant they’d met years before.
“We laughed and caught up like old friends,” he recalls.
Williams goes beyond setting up chairs and umbrellas; he gets to know each guest, recommending his favorite local eats or sharing his go-to spot for stargazing.
“Food is the pathway to someone’s soul,” he says with a chuckle.
His easygoing warmth and curiosity turn casual beach days into lasting connections. For Williams, hospitality means “going above and beyond to satisfy a guest’s request,” and his care ensures that every visit ends with a suntan and a smile.

SEAGAR’S PRIME STEAKS & SEAFOOD FLEETWOOD
COVINGTON’S REFINED VISION
Step inside Seagar’s, and the world slows down. The pale Ti any-blue walls so en against dark wood and leather, while tucked-away alcoves lined with bottles of wine invite hushed conversation. Once, one of those alcoves served as the restaurant’s humidor — its very name a nod to both cigars and the sea. Today, the smoke has cleared, but Seagar’s reputation as one of the Emerald Coast’s most elegant dining rooms remains firmly intact.
In the open kitchen, dinner o en arrives with a flourish, whether it’s a multicourse caviar tasting, a benefit dinner for a local charity or the nightly rhythm of service that keeps guests returning year a er year. At the helm is Executive Chef Fleetwood Covington, named Best Chef on the Emerald Coast in 2024. His story is one of steady ascension, joining Seagar’s in 2017 and working his way from the sauté station to the top of the line. Along the way, he absorbed lessons from acclaimed mentors, honed his own creative instincts and shaped a vision rooted in constant refinement.
Covington draws inspiration from the Gulf’s coastal abundance and his own eclectic background — most surprisingly, years spent as a professional concert pianist in Europe. Both disciplines demand rigor, precision and the courage to interpret tradition anew. At Seagar’s, that translates into dishes where each
Award-winning Chef Fleetwood Covington artfully orchestrates memorable cuisine with precision.
note is intentional: Argentinian duck breast brined for 48 hours, its fat rendered until perfectly crisp, perched on spiced sweet potato purée and brightened by a slow-cooked cherry gastrique. Or Gulf shrimp poached to tenderness and paired with a red bean ragù and smoked Gouda polenta. “We’ve concentrated the creative e orts into times where I really can let loose,” Covington says. “I love having the freedom to get creative in the kitchen. It’s rewarding to know that our guests are excited to try new flavors and dishes, making it all the more fun to push the boundaries of what we can o er.”
Still, steaks remain Seagar’s signature. The kitchen sources hand-selected cuts, including Japanese A-5 Wagyu from Miyazaki Prefecture, chosen by Covington himself. Servers guide guests through the 600-label
wine list, recognized by Wine Spectator with the Best of Award of Excellence, ensuring every pairing is as polished as the plates leaving the kitchen.
Yet for Covington, the heart of hospitality extends beyond food and wine. “Here’s the deeper part of this,” he says. “If you allow us to cook for you, there’s a certain responsibility.” He carries that responsibility not only toward guests but toward his team. “Every dish is a chance to connect, to delight, and to bring something special to the table that our guests will remember.”
At Seagar’s, every plate carries that sense of intention. Each dish is the product of countless refinements, every garnish an opportunity for creativity, all in service of making food more than food — a moment to slow things down, engage with the meal in front of you and create memories with your loved ones.
MEET ANGELA MEDICH SEAGAR’S SOUS CHEF
As sous chef at Seagar’s Prime Steaks & Seafood, Angela Medich brings equal parts passion, precision and heart to Hilton Sandestin’s signature steakhouse. Originally from Jeannette, Pennsylvania, and now calling Crestview home, Medich says she first stepped into the kitchen because it “looked fun” and stayed because she discovered how deeply she loves creating and making people happy.
She thrives on the excitement of Seagar’s special events, where she’s constantly learning and catering to a variety of guests. Medich prides herself on her calm under pressure and her ability to elevate each guest’s dining experience. Her favorite part of Seagar’s? The unexpected delights, like live piano music dri ing through the dining room. O the clock, she enjoys dolphin cruises and caring for her ducks, quails and guinea fowl at home.

SUSHI, SAKE AND THE ART OF DINNER AT HADASHI
For sushi enthusiasts, Hadashi Sushi Bar delivers an evening experience worth savoring. Open exclusively for dinner just off the lobby, the restaurant offers an extensive menu of hand-rolled sushi, nigiri and sashimi, all crafted with the freshest fish by the Hadashi
culinary team. From classic tuna rolls to inventive specialties like this year’s Crab Island roll, each plate reflects care, precision and culinary artistry.
Guests can begin their evening in the lounge with a cocktail or traditional sake while the sushi is prepared, ensuring a relaxed start to a refined dinner.
Hadashi also makes dining easy for families. If there’s a picky eater in the group, they can order from the lounge menu, with pizza, burgers and other favorites, so no one misses out. Fresh, madeto-order and thoughtfully presented, Hadashi transforms dinner into a memorable, handcrafted experience that brings a little slice of Japan to Florida’s Panhandle.
MEET YOUNG KIM SUSHI COOK
Seven years into his Hilton Sandestin career, Young Kim has learned that the best hospitality starts with humor and heart. Originally from Seoul, South Korea, and now a Fort Walton Beach resident, Kim loves connecting with guests at the sushi bar.
“I try to make them laugh and to make them happy,” he says.
His passion for learning is equally evident.
“I always want to improve my cooking skills and find new ways to make memories for our guests.”
For Kim, every guest interaction is an opportunity to brighten someone’s day. Calm and attentive, he creates a relaxed environment where diners can enjoy watching their favorite rolls come to life.
His favorite part of the job? Seeing guests’ faces light up when they take that first bite. When asked what drives him, Kim smiles modestly.
“I just try to help the best I can,” he says. In his hands, even sushi becomes a lesson in simple joy — the essence of hospitality with heart.
Hospitality with Heart
MEET JIN HO KIM SUSHI CHEF
For Sushi Chef Jin Ho Kim, hospitality begins behind the sushi bar, where precision meets passion. Originally from South Korea and now residing in Fort Walton Beach, Kim approaches his work with artistry and sincerity.
“A customer’s smile is what motivates me,” he says. With years of experience in both traditional and contemporary Japanese cuisine, Kim finds joy in creating dishes that balance beauty and flavor.
His philosophy is simple: “Lead with sincere service.” Guests o en return not just for his expertly cra ed sushi but for the warmth and quiet confidence he brings to every encounter.
When he’s not in the kitchen, Kim enjoys the area’s natural beauty with fishing, watching dolphins and drawing inspiration from the Emerald Coast’s serene waters.
For him, working at Hilton Sandestin can be summed up in two words: “beauty” and “memories.” Through his dedication and skill, Kim ensures that every dining experience leaves guests with both.
SANDCASTLES THE HEART OF DINING AT HILTON SANDESTIN BEACH
For 41 years, Sandcastles Restaurant has been the resort’s culinary cornerstone. It’s the place families return to year after year and the spot where every day begins and ends. Located in the lobby, it’s the oldest restaurant on the property, yet it continues to evolve with guests in mind.
Mornings start with a generous breakfast buffet, complete with a waffle station and every imaginable favorite, served daily from 7 to 11 a.m. By midday, the Lounge comes alive with casual fare from chicken quesadillas and wings to burgers and salads, paired with craft cocktails and local brews. The 2024 renovation added both a pizza oven and a to-go counter, making it easier than ever to grab a fresh pie or entrée like grouper
piccata or a locally sourced seafood platter on the way back to your room. The pizza oven has already become a game-changer for families, with summer “make-yourown pizza” sessions, giving kids aprons, hats and dough of their own to craft a pie they proudly bake in the oven.
Evenings transform the space: Partitions drop, lights dim, and Sandcastles shifts into a relaxed dinner venue distinct from its breakfast personality. Holidays are particularly special here, when locals and resort guests gather for festive meals that feel like family traditions. From kid-friendly pizza nights to elegant holiday spreads, Sandcastles remains the warm, welcoming heart of Hilton Sandestin dining.
MEET ANDY JELKS HEAD CHEF
For Chef Andy Jelks, food isn’t just about flavor; it’s about connection. Born in Bitburg, West Germany, and now calling Destin home, Jelks brings more than 25 years of culinary experience to his role overseeing Sandcastles Restaurant. His path to Hilton Sandestin began with a mentor.
“Gary Chesebro, my longtime boss, told me I’d love it here,” Jelks says. “He was right; I’ve thrived.”
What fuels him most is collaboration.
“Every department here matters,” he says. “From HR to housekeeping, we’re all part of making guests feel welcome.”
That spirit shines through in his commitment to guest satisfaction. Recently, a vegetarian diner inspired him to create a special menu tailored just for her — something that brought joy to both chef and guest.
“Seeing how happy she was made my day,” Jelks recalls.
Passionate about learning and perfection, he calls the resort atmosphere “at your service.” For Jelks, hospitality with heart means more than great meals. “It’s about treating guests like family and giving them the best experience possible.”
ATHE COFFEE SHOP
A TASTE OF WARMTH IN THE LOBBY
t Hilton Sandestin, hospitality begins the moment you step into the lobby. The Coffee Shop, with its cheerful counter service and welcoming staff, sets the tone with an unmistakable touch of Southern warmth. Here, the comfort of a Starbucks latte meets the creativity of a delicious pastry program led by Chef Yascha Becker.
The pastry case tempts with cinnamon rolls; there are also hearty, made-to-order breakfast burritos to fuel a day at the beach. A new lineup of playful treats is stealing the spotlight: donuts dressed in salted
caramel with candied bacon and pecans, strawberry shortcake layers or a dusting of cinnamon sugar. Cookies return as “brookies,” chewy brownie-cookie hybrids in flavors like loaded chocolate chunk with candied bacon, or coffee cake kissed with brown butter.
With a full range of Starbucks beverages, including alternative milks, smoothies, and seasonal favorites, The Coffee Shop is more than a pit stop. It’s a pause that feels personal, a moment where even the smallest details remind you that hospitality here laces through every moment.
PICNIX: POOLSIDE FLAVOR FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
Steps from the pool and framed by floor-to-ceiling windows that look out toward the Gulf, Picnix makes it easy to refuel without ever missing a moment of fun. Designed with families in mind, this casual counter-service spot keeps both little ones and grown-ups happy.
Pizza Hut Express favorites headline the menu alongside freshly made subs, whether you prefer to build your own, choose from specialty combinations, or try the “sub in a tub” — all the flavor of a sandwich served salad-style without the bread. Wraps add another option, while kid-friendly favorites like corndogs and walking tacos are always on hand.
On the sweeter side, guests can choose from 16 flavors of Edy’s ice cream blended into milkshakes or served by the scoop. Banana splits and root beer floats offer a lighter indulgence, while frozen lemonade delivers a tangy, refreshing cool-down between dips in the pool.
Picnix is also where you’ll find the resort’s vintage souvenir bottles, offering free refills throughout your stay at Picnix, Barefoot’s, Sandcastles and The Coffee Shop. With something for everyone, it’s a spot where vacation meals are as relaxed and fun as the setting itself.

BAREFOOT’S BEACHSIDE BAR & GRILL LUNCH WITH A SPLASH OF FUN
At Barefoot’s Beachside Bar & Grill, lunch comes with a front-row view of the Gulf. Just steps from the sand, this sit-down favorite has become the resort’s go-to for mid-day meals, with poolside walkers and beachside “sand kickers” extending service right to your chair. Even The Sandbar serves as an easygoing outpost, offering nearly everything from the main restaurant.
The menu balances coastal classics and casual comforts: shrimp rolls stacked high, island chicken sandwiches with a tropical kick, refreshing ahi tuna salads and seafood baskets piled with golden-fried
favorites. Of course, chicken tenders remain unbeatable. Pair your favorite bite with a signature Key Lime Colada or the top-selling Rum Jungle — poured 5,126 times in just six months — and you’ll understand why this beachside spot is always buzzing.
For kids, drinks turn into adventures: The Shark Attack layers blue and green before a toy shark “dumps” grenadine into the glass, Mermaid Tails shimmer from blue to magenta with citrus, and the new Swamp Water transforms gatorgreen with apple syrup.
From playful sips to Gulf-inspired bites, Barefoot’s makes every lunch a little more unforgettable.
MEET AUSTIN THOMPSON FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER
Austin Thompson, who now manages three of the resort’s most vibrant dining spots, thrives on energy and connection — the hallmarks of hospitality.
“I’ve always loved the hustle and bustle,” says the Wisconsin native, who now manages three of the resort’s most vibrant dining spots. His love of food and people started early, inspired by his mom and brother, both talented cooks.
Today, Austin channels that same passion into cra ing memorable moments for guests, like when a couple of fellow football fans surprised him with tickets to a Notre Dame game a er striking up a conversation about stadium traditions. For Thompson, it’s all about accessibility.
“I want every guest and team member to know I’m here for them,” he says. Whether helping a visitor choose the perfect drink or guiding his sta through a busy service, his goal remains the same: to make Hilton Sandestin feel like a home away from home.
“The guests are trusting us to create memories for their families,” he says. “That’s what hospitality with heart means to me.”

MEET TAMATHA PITTS IN-ROOM DINING
A er a rewarding career as a teacher, Tamatha Pitts found her second calling in hospitality — a natural fit for someone who thrives on making others feel cared for.
“It’s fulfi lling to provide our guests with impeccable service during their stay,” she says.
Whether she’s delivering a meal or o ering a warm smile in the hallway, Pitts infuses every interaction with genuine kindness. “A warm greeting can add so much joy to someone’s day,” she reflects. One small but meaningful moment stands out: A young boy once wished her a “wonderful day” in the elevator, a simple exchange that li ed her spirits. For Pitts, such encounters embody the heart of hospitality — treating guests like family and making them feel at home. Her attentiveness doesn’t stop with service; she follows up to ensure every in-room dining experience exceeds expectations.
Her favorite local recommendation? A sunset trip to Crab Island to spot dolphins. “It’s magical,” she says. At Hilton Sandestin, Pitts brings warmth, positivity and grace to every shi — proof that kindness is the true mark of exceptional service.

cultural treasures, discover how Hilton Sandestin connects guests to the people, places and passions that make South Walton shine
BY ZANDRA WOLFGRAM
The true adventure in travel lies in discovery, and South Walton is brimming with it. From locally owned boutiques and creative studios to coastal experiences that give back, this vibrant community invites visitors to explore, play and take home more than just souvenirs.
At the heart of it all, Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa stands as a generous steward of its surroundings, believing that a true sense of place begins with supporting the people and causes that make the region thrive. From a flourishing cultural arts scene to environmental initiatives and children’s programs, the resort takes pride in leading with heart and giving back where it matters most.
“It’s very important to have a community connection,” says General Manager Angelina Covington. “For more than 40 years, we’ve built a history of providing assistance and support to this community. We’re a company that believes in doing good, and it gives all of us a sense of pride to work for a generous organization that backs its community 100 percent.”
Guests of Hilton Sandestin don’t have to look far to see the resort’s values reflected throughout South Walton. The area’s blend of natural beauty, cultural creativity and environmental stewardship o ers countless ways to explore and give back. Whether snorkeling vibrant artificial reefs, hiking through preserved coastal dunes, discovering local art or supporting community-driven organizations, every adventure reveals the heart of this coastal destination — and Hilton Sandestin’s commitment to helping it thrive.
EXPLORE THE SHORE
ARTIFICIAL REEFS*
In 2015, locals and visitors alike celebrated the debut of a new artificial reef o Grayton Beach. Coined Turtle Reef for its sea turtle shape when viewed from above, it marked the beginning of a movement led by the South Walton Artificial Reef Association (SWARA). To date, there are 58 di erent reef structures that have been installed 780 feet from the Walton County coast, each one designed in the form of ocean life — including a seahorse, a cobia and a dolphin. Snorkelers and divers can explore these man-made habitats teeming with marine life, helping preserve and protect the Gulf ecosystem.
TOPSAIL HILL PRESERVE
A local favorite, Topsail Hill Preserve State Park features 3.2 miles of pristine beach, majestic dunes and rare coastal dune lakes that make it a paradise for nature lovers. Hike along beachside trails, explore wetlands and pine forests, or spot herons, pelicans and other wildlife on a guided tour. The park’s natural beauty and biodiversity make it a must-see for outdoor adventurers.
Topsail Hill Preserve, located just minutes from the hotel, is a 3.2mile pristine paradise for nature lovers.

COASTAL DUNE LAKES
Among South Walton’s rarest natural treasures are the 15 freshwater lakes that sit just steps from the Gulf, separated only by narrow sand dunes. Their delicate mix of salt and fresh water creates dynamic habitats for birds, fish and wildlife. Guests of Hilton Sandestin can kayak, paddleboard or simply stroll the shorelines of nearby Western Lake or Campbell Lake to witness these wonders up close.
DIVE INTO THE UNDERWATER MUSEUM OF ART
For adventurous guests looking to dive deep into the Gulf, Hilton Sandestin supports an extraordinary eco-art attraction: the Underwater Museum of Art (UMA) — the first permanent underwater sculpture garden in the United States. Located just under a mile from Grayton Beach State Park at a depth of 58 feet, the UMA features sculptures installed annually by artists from around the world. Each piece transforms into a living reef, supporting marine life and fostering ecological awareness.
Hilton Sandestin proudly sponsors a new sculpture each year, including by Benjamin Me ord (2019), Dawn Dancers Ghosh (2020), by Marisol Rendón (2022), Quantum Reef (2023), Poseidon’s Throne Nathan Ho man (2024) and for 2025, Oak by Nathan Ho man. These works celebrate creativity, conservation and community — values at the core of Hilton Sandestin’s mission.

by the A Celebration SEA
When Rashmi Surani and Shabbir Hakani began searching for the perfect wedding venue, they dreamed of something close enough to Atlanta for friends and family to drive but with the beauty and romance of a destination celebration.
Vibrant traditions, breathtaking sunsets and signature service created the perfect setting for Rashmi and Shabbir’s unforgettable Indian wedding BY CARRIE HONAKER
“I really wanted a beachside wedding without traveling internationally,” Rashmi says.
Their search led them to the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa, and from the first site visit, they knew they’d found the place. “The moment that sealed it for us was stepping out onto the patio and seeing the sunset over the Gulf. We couldn’t imagine a more perfect backdrop for our special day.”
That first sunset set the tone for a dazzling, five-day celebration that blended vibrant Indian traditions with the breezy elegance of Florida’s Emerald
Coast. Guests arrived to the scent of salt air, greeted by smiling staff who remembered names and went out of their way to help everyone feel at home.
“From Angela, the Wedding Coordinator, to Robin and the front desk team, everyone went above and beyond,” Rashmi says. “We couldn’t have asked for a more thoughtful team to help bring our wedding vision to life.”
The week began with a joyful Wednesday welcome party, laughter spilling across the terrace as guests sampled Indian snacks. On Thursday, the Haldi, or turmeric ceremony,
glowed golden against the white sand, with the rhythmic beats of M1 Sounds mixing with the gentle crash of waves. Friday’s Sangeet transformed the ballroom into a kaleidoscope of color.
“I wanted it to be really vibrant, with lots of pinks and reds,” Rashmi says. Her designer outfit shimmered under twinkling lights, while Shabbir’s custom ensemble reflected the same joyful tones. Friends and family filled the dance floor, surrounded by the hum of excitement that carried long into the night.
Saturday’s ceremony and reception captured the essence of Hilton Sandestin’s setting — sophisticated yet relaxed, polished yet personal. Under a floral mandap designed by Weddings InStyle, the couple exchanged vows framed by the Gulf’s horizon. Inside, a decorative cake sat among trays of Indian sweets, and the night ended with a fireworks display arranged through the resort.
“That was one of the greatest memories of the weekend. It was so much more than we expected,” Shabbir gushes. On Sunday, the celebration drew to a close with an
emotional Vidaai, the farewell ceremony symbolizing the bride’s new beginning.
Between events, guests took full advantage of everything the property had to offer: three shimmering pools, beachside lounges, the indoor pool for a midday escape and easy access to nearby shops and attractions.
“It was so special to see our families hanging out, kids laughing and running around the pool, people relaxing by the beach. The resort offered plenty of space for everyone to relax and unwind, yet still felt intimate enough that we were constantly running into friends and family throughout the property. It just felt magical,” Rashmi says.
For the couple, the Hilton Sandestin Beach’s attentiveness made all the difference. “Anything we needed, we said it once and it was done,” Shabbir adds. From the champagne and fruit waiting in their suite to the personalized welcome message on the TV, every touch felt intentional.
“Nearly every guest told us they’d love to return for a vacation,” Rashmi says. “That says everything about how special this place is.”

MEETINGS WITH A VIEW
At Hilton Sandestin, breathtaking Gulf views, gracious service and endless coastal experiences turn gatherings into unforgettable escapes
BY CARRIE HONAKER
When Temeka Wilson, a Program Manager with BCD Meetings & Events, began sourcing a venue for her client’s week-long sales meeting and incentive trip, she knew she needed a property that could do it all. “The group wanted something beachside
that could offer everything to support a meeting of their size,” she says. “Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa was the only property that gave us the full lay of the land.”
The sprawling Gulf-front resort delivered in every way. With 590 guest rooms and suites, 60,000 square feet
of flexible, award-winning meeting space — including three ballrooms, two conference rooms and a boardroom — plus more than 22,000 square feet of outdoor decks overlooking sugar-white sand, Hilton Sandestin makes meetings feel effortless. From corporate retreats of 10 to conventions of 2,000, the resort’s seasoned team handles every detail with polish and personality.
Temeka’s group hosted a mini tradeshow in the foyer, enjoyed meals both indoors and out, and capped the week with a weekend incentive stay for top sales performers. “It was close to 600 people altogether,” she recalls. “Even though the resort is large, it still felt like a small hotel. The staff was always checking on us, making changes quickly and never saying no. From contracting to being on-site, everyone was accommodating, and it was so convenient to offer activities like deep sea
MEET ADAM LOURCEY EVENT MANAGER
With 20 years at Hilton Sandestin, Event Manager Adam Lourcey has seen countless celebrations unfold, from beachfront weddings to milestone gatherings.
“What I love most is watching our repeat guests’ families grow and being part of their stories,” he says.
A Tallahassee native now based in Santa Rosa Beach, Lourcey thrives on creating seamless experiences that feel e ortless to guests. His guiding philosophy is simple: Treat others as you’d want to be treated.
“I’m always asking how I can help make their experience great,” he explains.
Drawing on decades of expertise, he advises meeting planners and clients with patience, creativity and insight. For Lourcey, the resort’s beauty never loses its magic.
“The views we get to see every day — it’s a reminder of how special this place is,” he says.
Beyond work, he recommends exploring local state parks or venturing east down the beach toward Topsail Preserve for quiet, natural beauty.

fishing, golf and the spa without having to coordinate at another location.”
That warm, attentive service defines Hilton Sandestin’s legacy of group hospitality. Kevin Rosa, Director of Sales and Marketing with over 35 years of hotel experience, attributes it to the dedicated ownership and long-tenured team. “We have groups that have been meeting
here for 30 years or more,” he says. “People come back because it’s not just a meeting; it’s where memories are made.”
Rosa notes that flexibility and innovation keep those experiences fresh. The newly added Palm Room has quickly become a guest favorite, with natural light, two 80-inch televisions, wet bars and a flexible layout perfect for breakout
sessions or executive “war rooms.” And each year, the culinary team reimagines its banquet menus to showcase the best of the Emerald Coast — from Gulfcaught grouper and shrimp to elevated Southern favorites like pimento cheese and buttermilk chicken biscuits.
Beyond the meeting space, groups can bond over beachside bonfires, pool volleyball or friendly Beach Olympics. Seagar’s Prime Steaks & Seafood, a AAA Four-Diamond restaurant, provides an elegant venue for private dinners, while Serenity by the sea Spa o ers rejuvenating treatments between sessions. Oproperty, guests can explore nearby world-class golf courses, scenic state parks, and the boutiques and restaurants of 30A or Destin.
For Temeka, it was the little things that made the biggest impression — from a second personalized site visit hosted by Sales Manager Gwen LeBoeuf to the team’s can-do spirit. “Adam Lourcey never told me no, no matter how crazy the request,” she says with a laugh. “And the apple pie was absolutely delicious.”
At Hilton Sandestin, even business feels like a breath of fresh Gulf air.
Expertly staged and seamlessly serviced, Hilton Sandestin hosts memorable meetings and events for groups from 10 to 2,000.

WHERE BUSINESS MEETS THE BEACH
For more than two decades, Terry Shafer has led the Southern Wholesalers Association, an organization representing plumbing manufacturers, distributors and reps across 11 states, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. The association celebrated its 97th annual convention last summer and continues to blend business and family in memorable destinations, with Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa now serving as a trusted home for its gatherings.
When you’ve been organizing conventions for as long as I have — more than 20 years with the Southern Wholesalers Association — you learn quickly that the right hotel partner can make or break an event. Our annual convention is a massive undertaking. We bring together executives, manufacturers, reps and distributors from 11 states, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas, along with their families. In total, we fill around 1,200 to 1,300 room nights, with peak nights exceeding 500 rooms. Not many beachfront properties can handle that kind of volume. The Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa can — and does so exceptionally well.
We first brought our group to the Hilton Sandestin in 2023, and we’ve returned since. The location in Miramar Beach is ideal for our Southeastern members, and the resort offers the size, amenities and service level we need. But what really sets this property apart is its people.
Our group works closely with Elizabeth Brock, our sales representative, who has been outstanding from the start. Elizabeth is always available, always on top of details and truly understands what it takes to host an association of our size. She’s supported by Kimberly Thompson, our reservation coordinator, whom I consider one of the best in the business. Kimberly makes managing hundreds of rooming lists and last-minute changes look effortless — and that kind of organization is gold for an event planner. I run multiple associations throughout the year, and I can honestly say Hilton Sandestin’s staff is among the best.
The property itself is another major draw. Hilton Sandestin Beach takes exceptional care of its facilities, continually reinvesting in upgrades and upkeep. As a plumbing wholesale group, our members tend to notice things like fixtures, faucets and finishes — and we appreciate that everything here is maintained beautifully. I even suspect some of our wholesalers sold materials used in the resort’s renovation.
Beyond the business side, this resort provides an experience our members and their families look forward to year after year. Our event runs Sunday through Tuesday, always the weekend after Father’s Day, and it’s the only family-oriented gathering in our industry. The resort’s family-friendly atmosphere, pristine beach and variety of dining options make it the perfect backdrop for both work and relaxation. Personally, I like to arrive a day early to unwind — whether that’s enjoying the spa, a beach stroll or simply catching my breath before the whirlwind begins.
From top to bottom — housekeeping to accounting — this team delivers excellence. Their attention to detail, prompt responsiveness and commitment to making things right have earned our loyalty. We’re already booked to return in 2027, and I have no doubt our next experience will be just as seamless as the last.
At Hilton Sandestin, we’ve found more than a venue — we’ve found a partner who helps us balance business with family and professionalism with genuine hospitality.

OUR HAPPY PLACE
A Hilton Sandestin love story that began with a blind date and a beach proposal
BY ZANDRA WOLFGRAM
For Kelly Oster and Mike Buzagany of Johns Creek, Georgia, Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa isn’t just a vacation destination — it’s where their love story unfolded, one memory at a time. She’s 57, he’s 53. Together they’ve raised five children, navigated life’s twists and returned time and again to the same stretch of sugar-white sand that witnessed their engagement, wedding and a decade of anniversaries.
“I started going to the Hilton back in the early 1990s,” Kelly says. “I was single and living in Birmingham, Alabama, and I’d take trips there with friends a few times a year. Later, when I had my boys, it became our family getaway for the Fourth of July, spring break, Labor Day — our favorite times.”
When Kelly met Mike on a blind date in 2013, it wasn’t long before she introduced him to her favorite place on earth. “Once we started dating,” Mike recalls, “we brought all five kids — mine, hers, ours —
to the beach. It quickly became a tradition: Fourth of July, fall break, the Sandbar, and lazy days by the pool. It just felt like us.”
Two years later, the resort became part of their family history forever.
“He proposed there and completely surprised me,” Kelly says, laughing. “I was at the Sandbar, peeling shrimp for the kids, no makeup, in a bikini, and suddenly Mike was down on one knee.”
“My 30th, my 45th, my stepmom’s surprise party — they all happened there.”
Mike grins at the memory. “I’d been carrying the ring around for two days, waiting for the perfect moment. The bartenders were in on it — they had champagne ready. The hardest part was getting five kids between ages 6 and 14 to all stand still! But it worked, and she said yes.”
That fall, they returned to make it o cial. “We got married right there on the beach on October 11, 2015,” Kelly says. “It was a Sunday morning, and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. It was casual and colorful — our boys wore pink Vineyard Vines shirts and khakis, and the girls wore Ti any blue. It was really all about our kids and the people we love.”
The wedding planning was e ortless, thanks to the resort’s team. “We worked with the Hilton’s wedding coordinator, and she handled everything — flowers, catering, music,” Mike recalls. “We even rented out the Barefoots patio for a casual rehearsal dinner. The sta made it easy, so we could just enjoy being with family.”
Since then, Hilton Sandestin has remained their constant.“We’ve been back for our five-year and 10-year anniversaries and for countless birthdays,” Kelly says.
Mike nods. “What I love is that we can park the car and forget it. We’ll spend the day between the beach and pool, maybe grab a drink at the Sandbar, watch football at the new pizza bar, or have a nice dinner at Seagar’s or Barefoot’s. It’s easy, relaxed, everything you want in a getaway.”
For Kelly, Hilton Sandestin is more than convenience; it’s connection. “We’ve got friends and family coming from all over — Ohio, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee — and the resort is the perfect meeting point. It’s easy to reach whether you drive or fly, and it just feels like home every time we’re there.”
Mike agrees. “We both work in sales and travel a lot, so this hotel is where we can slow down and just be. We sit on the balcony, watch the sunrise, maybe fly a kite on the beach. It’s simple, but it’s everything.”
As they celebrate 10 years of marriage, the memories they’ve made at Hilton Sandestin continue to grow. “I’ve been coming here for more than 30 years,” Kelly says with a smile. “It’s where I first brought my boys, where Mike proposed, where we said our vows. Every time we come back, it reminds us of how it all began. It’s our happy place.”
