A TOUCH OF COLOR JUST may be the most important aspect of a design project. The brilliant blues of sparkling waters and clear skies, the bright greens of perfect landscaping, and flowering shrubs bursting with pinks, purples, reds and oranges — these are the hues that color the exciting interiors inside this issue of Florida Design.

When it comes to living in full color, interior designer Marc Thee and his team spared no effort in fine-tuning every magical detail of a 9,154-square-foot home at Golden Oak in the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla. And though elements such as form, balance, texture and shape usually style an interior scheme, “Hidden Mickeys” are playfully interspersed to color this island style that is both tropical and fun.

Traveling to the Treasure Coast, design duo Dianne Davant and Priscilla Hyatt Councill reveal the beauty of nature with the design of a 5,000-square-foot Palm City home on the North Fork of the spectacular St. Lucie River. The designers infused the home with the organic warmth of magnificent reclaimed wood and splashes of soft blues in perfect complement to the river and its natural environs.

Down the coast, the Intracoastal Waterway is the backdrop for a nautical-inspired 4,200-square-foot Delray Beach home created when interior designers Susan Connor and Vanessa Bugeja joined forces with architect Jeffrey Silberstein to deliver a sleek, modern living environment. The result: a dream come true for the homeowners who now enjoy the ultimate indoor-outdoor lifestyle.

nterior designer Amy Lee McArdle’s signature style can best be described as timeless and classic with a modern twist. In 2014, McArdle launched her own design and events company, Amy Young Designs. Transforming spaces ranging from Manhattan pied-à-terres to Palm Beach getaways to suburban homes in New York State became her passion. Her mantra, “making an ordinary space into an extraordinary home,” is something she always strives to achieve. Having been born in New York and raised in Seoul, South Korea, McArdle traveled the world at a very young age. She likes to bring that international sensibility to her projects today, often

decided to downsize, they eventually found their dream home on the Intracoastal Waterway in Delray Beach, Fla. “First we sold our large home and then purchased a townhouse which was too small,” the wife says. “Finally, we found the perfect home.”

In 2014, the couple commissioned award-winning architect Jeffrey Silberstein to create their waterfront home for them, and interior designer Susan Connor, who had previously worked on two residences for the Smiths, to style the interiors. Connor embraced the 124 FLORIDA DESIGN VOL. 28 NO. 3

home’s architecture. “We wanted to be very minimalistic in our design approach and keep the focal point on the stunning views outside,” she says. The design team’s aim was to create a sleek, cool, modern living environment that would give the owners an open entertainment area. “We never had a home designed for us that was this modern,” the wife says.

Completed in 2017, the inviting 4,200-square-foot residence features an expansive patio that overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway and a custom pool with a water feature

that wraps around one side of the home. “We wanted to create the feeling that you’re outside all of the time,” Silberstein says. “Because there is glass everywhere, it was important to find a way to add separation and lend privacy from the neighbors next door. So, we created a tall angled wall with a porthole that resembles a ship’s prow.”

The great room flows out towards an expansive furnished patio. A leather-clad sectional framed in silvery metal and a square glass-topped game table surrounded by cushioned chairs, are perfect for conversation and casual dining alfresco. “When you do an open plan like this you want everything else to disappear — the glass railing on the grand stairway or even the kitchen,” the architect says. “This kitchen appears more like furniture with rift cut, dark-oak panel cabinets and no visible pulls.”

Dining chairs from Nuevo wrapped in a gray hue feature nautical-inspired, polished stainless bases that edge a glass-topped table. Beyond, Connor formed separate TV and living areas arranged with clean-lined, low-profile leather sofas and a pair of swivel armchairs clad in a tone-on-tone, raised textural geometric pattern from Lazar. Polished stainless steel-topped cocktail tables recall the porthole on the homeâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s facade.

Here, Connor used iron as her metal, both in a twig-like, multi-armed chandelier and in Bernhardtâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s four elegant club chairs created with curved-back frames.

The tranquil master bedroom looks out onto the waterway from a private balcony. Flanking a leather-clad bed dressed in linens from Kravet, a glass-based bedside lamp from Visual Comfort adds ambient light without visual weight.

Likened to a cruise ship, the master bedroom suite enjoys stunning water views from a glass balcony railing. A textured dark gray feature wall contrasts with a tufted leather platform bed in white, and a pair of armchairs in faux Mongolian lamb add a touch of glam. “For this room, the couple wanted something sleek that worked with the rest of the home’s design, but also something comfortable and dramatic,” Connor says.

The airy master bath offers scenic garden views. A floating vanity created in a Madagascar ebony veneer and a freestanding vessel tub convey a tranquil ambiance.

“The home works well for us,” the wife says. “It’s modern but not cold — it has softness in furnishings and warmth in the wood flooring.” Three years in the making, this home is perfect for a couple who loves to entertain or to just relax at home.

This sophisticated 6,000-square-foot waterfront home is located just outside downtown Fort Lauderdale, close to trendy shops, fine restaurants and a vibrant nightlife. Situated on a double corner lot with an expansive dock with access to the Intracoastal Waterway, the home is perfect for a family who enjoys the outdoors and all that a South Florida lifestyle can offer.

Interior designer Danielle DePerro met the homeowners just a few years ago and this project marks the fourth house she has designed for the family.

Having already established a great relationship, DePerro worked closely with her clients and architect Gregory Anderson to design the perfect home, RIGHT: The living room, arranged with a velvet sectional from Casa de Seus and Planum’s armchairs, opens to views of the patio and dock. A custom fireplace wall, created with semi-precious rose quartz from Marble of the World, is the standout feature.

maximizing views and connecting the interiors to the outdoors. The owners wanted a functional, comfortable and inviting space with clean lines for this completely new construction.

Towering, floor-to-ceiling sliding glass windows that soar 11 feet high invite the outside in, while clever interior design and thoughtful landscaping provide privacy.

A unique porcelain tile flooring that resembles wood planks flows throughout the home warming it with a beachy feel to keep things light.

The bar area’s custom cabinetry from Designs by Innovative is topped with stunning marble counters from Marble of the World. Pendants from Farrey’s Lighting sparkle over Elite Modern’s leather-clad counter stools with metal accents.

Open, bright and airy, the living room features neutral earth tones with rosy accents. A custom ceiling of floating walnut beams designed by DePerro is lit from above and below, adding interest with dimension and shadowing. A crushed-velvet sectional brings texture and warmth to the space, but the true star of the room is a custom fireplace feature wall comprised entirely of semi-precious rose quartz.

In an open space beneath an artistic zigzag stairway, a pair of teak wood mushroom sculptures from Century Furniture add warmth and lend a touch of whimsy.

panel with a snow-white quartz surround. Cantilevered, cream-colored armchairs line a contemporary solid wood table and add sophistication to the space. In a hallway drop zone, a mirror framed in a starburst design hangs on a stacked stone wall to lend a layer of interest above a serving piece topped with quartzite. A large painting from RFA Decor adds a touch of color, while a stone sculpture poses in a corner.

Catering to the ownersâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; love for entertaining, DePerro designed a luxurious bar just off the kitchen that includes a custom wine room with floating shelving to store and display bottles. Complementing the rest of the home, blush tones continue in Brazilian quartz countertops, while a dazzling series of crystal pendants in amethyst hues hover over the bar like pieces of sparkling jewelry.

In the media room, a tan leather-clad sectional with chaise from Tomlinson, a simple Oly Studio metal cocktail table and an industrial cage light fixture from Visual Comfort add a contemporary spin.

The custom-designed, contemporary stairway is a work of art unto itself.

It features open floating steps wrapped in another porcelain tile that again gives the appearance of wood. The use of metal cable for the railing makes it virtually maintenance free, and a stacked stone wall with fiber optic lighting adds a layer of dimension that twinkles in the evening.

DePerro designed the media room with comfortable timeless furnishings.

Arranged with a sleek sofa with chaise, it provides ample seating for family and friends to gather and socialize. An original fish carving, a commissioned piece by local artist Channell Glass, gives a nod to the sea. A large area rug with a linear geometric pattern grounds the space in comfort. ...continued on page 168

DePerro created a comfortable home with interiors that truly flow. The use of rich materials and a warm color palette throughout, along with unique lighting and textured area rugs, give each space its own unique personality. The designer kept the furnishings uncluttered and simple to allow the architecture and views to shine.

“A lot was driven by function and lifestyle,” DePerro says. “Working with the architect to maximize the views and feeling connected to the active downtown Fort Lauderdale lifestyle was important to this family.”

Smith says. “The wild life, the climate, the proximity to nature, a rugged rainforest fronted by both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans …” With his early involvement in what would result in a 6,800-square-foot aviary overlooking the sea, Smith still seems awestruck by the grandeur he along with the architectural team and builder created from the jungle mountainside.

The breezeway welcomes with a dreamy State of Mind abstract from Kresna Gallery. Furnishings wrapped in Bali river rock and cushioned in Sunbrella’s seagull sailcloth line a sitting area, where a tribal sculpture from Papua New Guinea appears to meditate.

While the well-traveled homeowners could have lived any place, the gated community of Tulemar in central Costa Rica already had an infrastructure for water and electricity supplied to the 33 one-acre homesites. “Yet there were challenges,” says Smith, referring to the strict codes to deal with natural seismic activity and the rolling topography of steep jungle terrain. “But for the owners to see ocelots, sloths, monkeys, and scarlet macaws … it was worth it. This place might just be paradise.”

The owners’ array of collected art and artifacts read like a geographical map of Indonesia. A sculpted green-glass Buddha hand, antique centerpiece wine jugs and hammered copper wall sconces captivate.

Still, the stairway’s light pendants from Hubbardton Forge fit right in.

And the owners didn’t want to keep any of it outside. Built on three levels with straight, spare lines, the home’s contemporary profile is essentially open to the sea’s breezes. There is no air conditioning. Windows retract into walls or accordion to the side, and fans stand ready only if needed. Because the views of the ocean are most spectacular from the third level, the living room, dining room and kitchen are positioned there. Only from the rooftop terrace could the horizon seem more dramatic.

Many of the furnishings chosen by Smith are familiar to him in his Key West showrooms. “Handcrafted Indonesian pieces, created in Bali and Java were particularly appropriate for this setting,” he says. Dramatic use of woods, artfully sculpted metal, and artisanal finishes in each room seem to relate to the natural textures just outside the windows.

“Creating an elegant residence in a quasi-jungle setting wasn’t easy … solid wood cabinetry, appliances, and tons and tons of stone along difficult roads,” interior designer David L. Smith says. “But in the end, the spectacular results speak for themselves.”

Wafting over textural surfaces of hammered metal, ancient roots, and bamboo stalks as tall as a monkey can spring, the jungle is always an invited guest in the living room that opens onto its own balcony. “Our aim was to be practical, as well as elegant,” Smith says. Casual furnishings cushioned in Sunbrella’s sailcloth naturally pair with vintage copper urns from Mexico, a Coco Craft drum table from Indonesia and a massive teak “root ball” that forms the abstract sculpture of the cocktail table.

Tracks that subtly disappear into the 10-foot-high ceiling and the tile below enable glass walls to enclose the room during rain showers.

Downstairs in the breezeway, a transition begins from the home’s covered portico and its glass entry to a welcoming sitting area with a panorama of the stepped patio, dual pools and the sea beyond. Pairing surprising textures, Smith imported furnishings covered in river rock from Indonesia, added a concrete bench-turned-table with arched Lucite bridges, a lava stone-framed mirror, and the woven neoprene basket from Milan. The grouping feels like a celebration of exotic elements, each with a story to tell.

On the top level, the central stairway opens to the dining room’s extravagant views. According to Smith’s design, a solid slab of ancient tamarind tree was sculpted into a table, while an untitled artwork from Bali recalls the jungle hues above a handcrafted distressed mahogany sideboard. “I love finding small villages on Java where the old craftsmen still work,” Smith says.

A unique teak root console leads the way from the dining room to the kitchen, where catching a casual bite at the breakfast bar doesn’t mean skipping a breathtaking view. Distressed tamarind wood cabinetry reappears to make an impressive organic statement in the heart of the home.

“Balconies that jut out and act as private galleries to each bedroom and social space insure that nature is never out of sight or mind,” the designer says. “The property the owners chose backs up to Manuel Antonio National Park, where protected “bridges” allow for animal migration.”

LEFT AND BELOW : One guest room entices with captivating water views. Mother-of-pearl shimmers in perfect complement atop the bedside tables and a desk, while the custom teak bed adds a touch of organic comfort. In the nearby bath, the tamarind wood vanity with its Caesarstone quartz countertop exudes a natural essence.

Even in a guest room on the lower level, the designer’s taste for the exotic feels natural. A four-poster teak bed and louvered tamarind armoire shape the perfect retreat with its own private balcony amidst the jungle-like verdant vistas. Nearby, an over-sized bath glitters with beveled mirrors framed by colored raw stone.

“The homeowners really listened to what the land was telling them,” Smith says.

“They wanted two pools and the terrain sort of fell away as to suggest a waterfall.”

Coming down the steps from the breezeway, it’s as if a resort suddenly appears.

Stacked in rectangular planes, the first pool wraps around what Costa Ricans call a “rancho,” an island-like, covered pavilion for dining. The second pool looks up at the

natural Sukabumi stone “water wall.” With Sunbrella-covered cushions, the concrete banquettes are both structural and convenient, as are their aquatic counterparts lining the pool’s interior. Comfortable chaise lounges recline for relaxation.

“According to the owners, around sunset is when they come … family, friends and neighbors just show up,” Smith says with a smile. “Everybody delights in this place, its setting and its feel.”

location … despite opportunities to purchase or build their new home anywhere, the owners of what would become a 7,000-square-foot contemporary showplace knew just where they wanted to live. And it’s right where they had spent many a winter — in the exclusive gated community of Boca Raton’s Polo Club, where they had owned a nearby seasonal home for several years. So, when the opportune availability of a large property on the lake presented itself, the couple commissioned a dynamic team to bring their new vision to life.

Enter architects Mark Muir and Jay Colestock, builder Terry Cudmore, and interior designer Susan Lachance, who have worked together on more than 30 previous

“The lot itself offered the greatest opportunities,” architect Jay Colestock says. “An unusually wide lot curving along the street, a one-story house exceeding 7,000 square feet, and the prospect of providing unparalleled views of the most charming, semi-private lake — this was one of the most fulfilling homes to design.”

projects. With such a spirited collaboration, the owners say that their dream of “a wine room for entertaining, a couple of offices, an exercise room, media room and a really nice place for the Ferrari,” was brought to fruition with warmth and sophistication, and in record time. But there were a few challenges. ““The oversized lot offers a multi-faceted presentation along the curved street,” Colestock says. “I designed the home on a radial to the lake creating three distinct frontages.” Using a series of elevated “pods,” the front elevation suggests a two-story home. Inside, the feeling is pure, expansive freedom. The great room, family room, and master bedroom ceilings tower upward to 20 feet, encircled by a “ribbon of light” from clerestory, transom-like windows.

Lachance complements the height while ensuring a “human scale” experience with mid-height bands of warm walnut and texture-varied walls.

While pale porcelain flooring unites elsewhere, in the family room it turns to wide-plank, dark “wood” porcelain by Ceramic Matrix. The sectional from Grafton Furniture and Planum’s club chair comfortably pair with a custom, wood cocktail table topped in glass and J. Alexander’s sparkling occasional table.

In the great room, Lachance surrounded the fireplace with a wall of walnut wood. The rectangular window shapes are echoed in space-dividers, and found in trim and furniture details. “These are my Frank Lloyd Wright influences,” she says. “These are the threads that subtly mimic each other and tie things together.”

Set on a curving pie-shaped lot, Colestock arranged for all rooms to have perfectly designed lake views. The resulting entry hallway provides an ideal locale for art collected by the owners. One of the “bays” off the hallway is the dining room, replete with its own ceiling elevation. Lachance collaborated in each detail of the ceiling’s meticulously designed look. In a dazzling series of levels, cached and indirect lighting is tucked into soffits and trays that rival everything below. Still, Romo’s luxurious grasscloth against which a Jamali ABOVE : Marble, limestone, mosaic, glass and polished wood combine to create a visual weave of textures in the stunning, custom bar designed by Lachance. oil painting hangs, and the stainless-touched table and chairs from Italy do their best to compete.

From the large-volume social spaces to the more private family room, the transition feels seamless. Surrounded by walls wrapped in faux cowhide from Elitis, the owners’ mirrored wine room holds 400 bottles of collectable vintage. “Glittering like a piece of jewelry — the wine room is to be admired,” Lachance says.

Just steps away, the bar shaped in marble and styled with “checker-mounted” limestone glows with sparkling crystal on display and a backsplash of shimmering, gold mosaic tiles. Lachance is fearless combining various textures, patterns, and materials, especially if they are natural. The effect, as in nature itself, is a kind of diverse unity that exudes warmth.

In shades of white and ebony, the kitchen and breakfast area bask in the poolside’s glow. With white cabinetry and quartzite counters, Lachance created a streamlined kitchen of sophistication framed by the drama of walnut.

“You have to ask the right questions to truly understand what a homeowner wants,” interior designer Susan Lachance says. “Then, you have to put their answers into a visual context.”

Yet whimsy has its place. The master bath’s fun faux-fur fabric brightens any mood. “And yes, Lucite is back,” Lachance laughs. Nearby, soft pewter and gray hues seem a prescription for tranquility in the master bedroom with its headboard wall dressed in leather and framed with walnut. “We didn’t know exactly what we wanted until the team created it,” the wife says. “Now it reflects us and our lifestyle perfectly.”

Though never easy coordinating a large project, the entire team agrees with Cudmore’s succinct appraisal, “Any problems? No, none. Any issues? No, not a one.” Better still — the orchestrated whole is in just the right location.

FROM ITS STACKED MARBLE STREET-FRONT FACADE to its indoor presentation of magnificent reclaimed woods, this newly built 5,000-square-foot Palm City house in the Floridian National Golf Club balances chic modern forms with timeless organic warmth. “When you’re in the home, you feel like you’re on the river,” interior designer Dianne Davant says. “Glass doors pocket all the way back and the patio becomes an integral part of the main living areas.”

“We knew we wanted an energy efficient home with a relaxed living environment, and one that also brought the outdoors in.”

Located on the North Fork of the shimmering St. Lucie River, the home hugs the water’s edge providing spectacular uncensored glimpses of the natural wildlife — the majesty of a great blue heron or an osprey swooping down to nab a fish. “The river was our inspiration,” Davant says. It’s easy to see that the river and its natural environs had a large part to play not only in the architecture, but also in the decorating choices. “I feel what makes this home truly stand out from other contemporary houses is the warmer wood tones we used throughout,” Councill says.

The custom woodwork is, indeed, distinctive. Capturing attention upon entry, a floating stairway crafted from reclaimed Heart Cypress produces incredible color and tone. Milled from the true towering giants of the southeastern rivers, reclaimed Heart Cypress defines the great room’s fireplace surround and ceiling as well. Along with raised pecky cypress accents, these indigenous woods offer a subtle beauty throughout.

The kitchen features quarter sawn teak cabinetry with a textured wood finish on the island’s base. Four backed stools pull up to the easy-to-keep-clean porcelain Neolith cantilevered island that provides a spot to enjoy casual fare.

“Using reclaimed wood, as well as the careful selection of sustainable materials like the Neolith porcelain flooring on the main level, helped us with achieving our goal of LEED Gold certification for this home,” Davant says.

A two-story-high glass presence captures the serene river views in the great room, where pocket glass doors slide completely open to connect to a large patio.

“The owners are empty nesters,” Davant says. “They have a home on Central Park in Manhattan and another in Connecticut. For this one, they wanted a minimalist house for informal living.” The dining area is on the patio outside, which has drop-down screens to protect them if necessary. They saw no need for a formal dining room.

“We spend November through May here,” the wife says. “We are outside much of the time, entertaining our friends with a glass of wine or an easy meal on the patio.

My husband likes to swim in the lap pool every day and, of course, we are both avid golfers.”

Furnishings are simple, low-maintenance and textural in the living area styled with a pair of hide-upholstered mid-century-style lounge chairs; comfortable slipper chairs; a chenille-covered sofa with a mix of velvet and faux fur accent pillows; and a ABOVE : Soft aqua hues play with style in the guest room, where Kravet’s upholstered bed appears to float atop Company C’s pale blue area rug. Bedside lamps from Visual Comfort cast a soft glow, while a whimsical Lucite stool sits in complementary contrast to Century Furniture’s wood desk with its polished aluminum base.

“The homeowners wanted a very minimalistic, uncluttered and casual lifestyle that was all about the river. In the master bedroom, we kept things simple and played off the blues,” Davant says.

With sprinkles of watery blue touches, the calm and neutral palette was created to connect with the river views, not compete. “Less is definitely more,” Councill says. “The home is not full of accessories. We acquired more unique statement pieces. Those and the architectural attention to detail is what keeps the eye moving throughout the space.”

In what both designers call the “second master” on the first floor, aqua blues are a bit more prevalent. “We designed this guest room as a downstairs master,” Davant says. “We treated it and its en suite bath with the same care as the upstairs master. Should the homeowners decide to live on one floor, it is interchangeable with the master suite.” The guest room’s bath features a double open shower with aqua glass mosaic wall details and pebbled glass shower flooring, as well as its own private courtyard.

Upstairs, the master suite is styled in shimmery silver and vivid turquoise hues. “We all fell in love with the ombre fabric we used for the draperies,” Councill says. “It became an inspiration point for that room’s bolder palette.”

The hits of turquoise carry into the master bath in the form of a bright glass-tile backsplash above the stunning teak vanity. “It feels like you are on a tropical cruise up there,” Davant says. “The homeowners are such fun people and it worked for them.”

Perhaps, the couple’s sense of fun came full circle when putting greens were added to the home. One sits on the balcony above the infinity edged pool, with the river beyond. “Our dream team really nailed it,” the wife says.

“They worked with the theme and colors of the river to create a warm and comfortable contemporary home for us.”

A Unique Residence Located On Walt Disney Property In Orlando Combines Fun And Whimsy With Five-Star Resort Elegance

such elements as form, balance, color, texture and shape, but at Golden Oak in the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla., the use of a “Hidden Mickey” feature makes that shortlist. “It’s kind of an unspoken element across the board in this community,” interior designer Jessica Lee says. She and her associate, interior designer Molly Walker, were “tasked” with hiding the “Hidden Mickeys” inside the home. The pair worked together closely with builder Rial Jones to create a fantastic 9,154-square-foot residence that conveys an overall sense of sophistication and fun that is evident right from the start.

The island colonial-style home is named “Ohana,” which means “family home” in Hawaiian. “We thought it would be appropriate for the house to have an island style that was tropical and fun,” Jones says. “We want to remind people that they are in a magical place at Golden Oak,” interior designer Marc Thee says. “Between the home’s amenities and living the dream, it really does become a way of life when you reside here.”

The home’s front facade features gray-blue shutters, cream-color coral stone accents, and a traditional roof structure with wide overhangs. Inside, a light contemporary style creates a

In the dining room, an intriguing “Urchin” oval chandelier from Ngala Trading suspends above Hooker’s dark-oak dining table to give another nod to the sea. “With a shape like a jellyfish, it reminds me of the ocean. Since it’s leather, it’s so unique — I just had to have it,” Lee says.

The sophisticated living room is fashioned with a modular sofa clad in taupe linen, and a pewter, linen-skirted chair centered by a freeform cocktail table designed with a charred wood top and black-iron base. A unique wrap-around stairway in the foyer integrates a glass-enclosed custom wine room. The stairway enfolds a floor-to-ceiling coral stone wall set behind wine bottles and reveals a peek-a-boo opening as it ascends to the second floor.

In the dining room, a linear, dark-oak dining table contrasts with taupe-and-silver linen-clad host chairs, and curvy side chairs in velvet taupe marbled with silver and

Integrated into the wall and ceiling, it’s set against a stained oak plank interrupted by an oak ledge and a recess lined with a crushed-shell mosaic panel. Palecek’s starburst mirror offers a touch of island whimsy in a frame fabricated from coconut shells. “Being on a Disney property, we did have a little bit of a license to be playful,” Lee says.

The kitchen and breakfast area offer an intriguing mix of elements. A rustic breakfast table is topped with tin framed in reclaimed wood. Edged with a light-gray custom banquette and side chairs upholstered in pewter-toned leather with nail-head trim, the space is perfect for relaxed family dining. A bold, Calacatta Paloda marble accent wall in the kitchen complements clean-lined, rift-cut oak custom cabinetry.

Outdoors, a cozy patio outfitted with a fireplace is flanked by large planters in a turquoise hue atop an expanse of shell reef coral stone decking. The nearby pool sparkles in the evening and features a spa with a dramatic rain curtain.

In the front courtyard, a second fireplace set within a coral stone wall is adorned above with a sculptural wedge of driftwood. Woven armchairs offer comfortable seating for conversation hearthside, where a custom wire-grid trellis reveals another Hidden Mickey. Poured concrete slabs offset with turf resemble flagstone pavers.

“Each time I walk into this house there is a happiness that is constant and is truly what the community stands for,” Thee says. “We wanted to design a home to remind people that they are on vacation every morning when they wake.”
