AROUND TOWN

X

Walking into the revitalized Delano Miami Beach, memories came rushing back. I still remember its celebrated 1995 rebirth, when Ian Schrager transformed the property into the chicest hotel in town.

The hotel’s legendary pool remains one of Miami’s most glamorous backdrops, and the perfect reminder that summer has arrived. Miami Swim Week followed in stylish fashion at a Vetchy pop-up hosted by our “Scouted” columnist Erin Michelle Newberg, where I caught up with friends Olga Megarbane and Fiorella Rosales while exploring the brand’s resortwear collection.

A SUMMER TO CELEBRATE

I’ve always loved the Fourth of July. Maybe it’s the spectacle of the fireworks, the red, white, and blue everything, or simply the feeling that—if only for a moment—people come together to celebrate something bigger than themselves. This year feels especially meaningful as the country marks America 250, a milestone birthday that inspired the theme of our July issue.

To mark this historic moment, we headed north to St. Augustine for this month’s fashion and cover shoot. Known as America’s oldest city and a surprisingly easy five-hour drive from Miami, St. Augustine is rich with history, old-world charm, and timeless beauty.

Speaking of road trips, if summer has you craving an escape, be sure to turn to page 52 for our roundup of 20 bucket-list Florida destinations and experiences. From hidden gems and quirky adventures to classic Sunshine State stops, it’s proof that sometimes the best getaways are right in our own backyard.

Of course, no July issue would be complete without festive entertaining. On page 60, cocktail expert Jules Aron shares spirited red, white, and blue recipes perfect for your Fourth of July festivities, whether you’re poolside, hosting friends, or simply looking for an excuse to toast summer.

And after more than 30 years living here, I can honestly say I’ve never experienced a busier summer. Between FIFA World Cup excitement and Miami Swim Week parties, the city feels more energized than ever. Every week seems to bring a new restaurant opening, a cultural happening, or another reason to stay out a little later.

Case in point: the return of Delano Miami Beach. After a six-year closure, one of South Beach’s most iconic hotels is officially back, and with it, two major new dining destinations. On page 87, Paul Rubio shares his first impressions of Mimi Kakushi and Gigi Rigolatto, offering an early look at what’s sure to be among the season’s hottest reservations.

I hope this issue encourages you to embrace summer and celebrate everything that make this city so special. Happy Fourth of July!

AVENTURIST

THE INSIDE TRACK TO ALL THINGS NEW AND NOW IN MIAMI-DADE

ADRENALINE RUSH

This summer, the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science is exchanging lab coats for wingsuits—at least in spirit. Running through early September, “Extreme Sports: Beyond Human Limits” has landed in Miami, dovetailing with the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The exhibition drops visitors into the high-stakes worlds of wingsuit flying, free diving, rock climbing, and parkour, then pulls back the curtain on what actually makes those feats possible. It’s a blend of physics, biology, and psychology, presented through hands-on challenges that let you test your own reaction time, grip strength, and balance. Consider it a science lab, proving ground, and fully immersive experience rolled into one.

There’s a strong local hook, too. A dedicated “Science of Soccer” experience taps into Miami’s role as a World Cup host city, pairing interactive gameplay with the mechanics behind the beautiful game. Visitors can step up to a MultiBall sports wall or Subsoccer setup, breaking down how force, motion, and precision come together in every pass, strike, and save. It’s an exhibit that can easily morph casual fans into armchair analysts—and maybe make us all a little more appreciative of what’s happening on the pitch.

Throughout the gallery, real equipment and stories add texture, highlighting the split-second decisions and calculated risks behind extreme performance. There’s also a look at what happens when things go sideways, from rescue response to the evolving tech designed to keep athletes safer. If you’re curious how the human body keeps up, this experience is pulse-raising and timely, with a nod to the world’s biggest game. (frostscience.org) —Jesse Scott

The Frost Science Museum’s new interactive exhibit explores extreme sports as well as the science of soccer.

SESSIONS AND SUPERHEROES

HARD CORE

With devotees like Karlie Kloss, Emily Ratajkowski, and Brooke Shields, the Nofar Method has become a cult favorite in both New York and Miami. Offering serious Pilates for serious people, the Miami Beach studio is quietly whipping locals into shape. Forget chatty workouts or scrolling between sets: answer your phone mid-class and you will get politely—but firmly—called out. Frankly, it’s refreshing.

Each class pairs 25 minutes on the Reformer with 25 on the Cadillac, a setup that looks simple but delivers a burn through tiny, exacting movements. The instructors tailor exercises to your ability level or injuries, making the workout approachable even when it humbles you. If you’re lucky enough to catch founder Nofar Hagag— who commutes from New York—book immediately. Equal parts drill sergeant and body whisperer, she pushes you past your comfort zone with precision that delivers results. (nofarmethod.com)

GEEK CHIC

Florida Supercon returns to the Miami Beach Convention Center July 10-12, bringing three days of panels, fandom deep dives, and cosplay to one air-conditioned playground. This year’s celebrity lineup includes Hayden Christensen (Star Wars), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Charlie Cox (Daredevil: Born Again), Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka), and Finn Jones (Game of Thrones). Enjoy live panel conversations that feel like podcasts with a pulse, gaming zones that stretch from retro consoles to tabletop sessions, and a dedicated Cosplay Central hub where beginners and seasoned costume builders swap tips. Plan ahead for photo ops and autograph sessions because these experiences sell out quickly. (floridasupercon.com) —J.S.

BIG BALLOON ENERGY

Miami has no shortage of immersive experiences, but “Pop Air: Art is Inflatable” delivers magical moments. Now through September 27 at the Mana Wynwood Convention Center, the globally touring exhibition by the Balloon Museum transforms inflatable art into a playful, larger-than-life spectacle built for curiosity and interaction—one that feels just as captivating for adults as it does for children. The oh-so Instagrammable exhibition encourages hands-on exploration, with monumental installations that invite visitors to wander, climb, swing, and fully integrate themselves in the experience. Among the highlights is Mariposa, artist Christopher Schardt’s glowing 26-foot butterfly sculpture—comprised of 39,000 LEDs—that flutters as guests swing beneath it. Then there’s Hypercosmo, the heart of the exhibition: a giant dreamlike pool of translucent spheres where visitors sink in, surrender, and lose track of time. The grand finale, Glowing Ballet, was my favorite section, with floating balloons rising and falling in mesmerizing choreography that was equally whimsical and joyful. (balloonmuseum.world)

FAB FLAG

LoveShackFancy ’s sparkly Americana knits bring together Fourth of July fashion in a way that still feels chic. The Ty Pullover ($345), in the aptly named Pop Rocket hue, features a sequined American flag adorned with tiny embroidered hearts on an ultra-soft cotton sweater with a relaxed fit. Prefer something more Miami-friendly? The Deserae Tube Top ($245) delivers the same glittering flag motif in a fitted, strapless silhouette made for fireworks, rooftop cocktails, and long holiday weekends. Pair either with denim cutoffs, white linen pants, or a breezy skirt, and you’re ready for America’s 250th birthday. (loveshackfancy.com)

AND

ARE REWRITING THE GULF OYSTER STORY, ONE SHUCK AT A TIME

Once a staple of Gulf ecosystems and coastal culture, wild oysters have all but disappeared from South Florida waters, leaving behind empty reefs and a lingering perception problem. Everglades Oysters is working to change that. With a 74-acre aquaculture lease deep in the Everglades and a direct-to-chef model that prioritizes speed and traceability, the company is betting on South Florida as an unlikely but compelling oyster capital—with their oysters landing at tables at Sunny’s Steakhouse, The River Oyster Bar, Klaw Miami, and Maple & Ash. We spoke with co-founder Joshua Wilkie, who, alongside co-founder Fabio Galarce, sees something different: a chance to put local oysters back on the map. (evergladesoysters.com)

Aventura: The Gulf oyster has been written off by many. What made you believe it could not only come back, but compete with some of the best oysters in the world?

Wilkie: I think the Gulf never lost its potential; it just lost its reputation. Most of that came from how oysters were harvested and handled, not the water itself. When you control the process

start to finish, you unlock a completely different product. We’re growing oysters in warm, nutrient rich water that allows them to develop incredible flavor quickly. Once chefs taste them side by side, the bias fades pretty fast. It’s about showing what was always possible.

You’re farming in one of the most complex ecosystems in the country. What does it look like to grow oysters in the Everglades day-to-day?

It’s real work. Long runs out through the mangroves, weather always changing, and everything takes more planning because you’re remote. Day to day, we’re out on the lease flipping cages, grading oysters, checking growth,

managing fouling, and staying on top of water conditions. The FlipFarm system lets us do most of it on deck, which is huge, but you’re still dealing with heat, storms, and logistics every single day. It’s not romantic, but it’s rewarding. You’re watching a living system work. Every oyster out there is filtering water and improving the environment while it grows.

You’ve built a zero-inventory, direct-to-chef model. Oysters are still in the water when they’re ordered. How does that approach reshape freshness and the way Miami restaurants think about sourcing?

It flips the whole model. Most seafood sits in a supply chain. Ours doesn’t. Chefs place orders, we harvest specifically for them, and those oysters are on their menu within a day or two of leaving the water. That changes everything. Texture, salinity, shelf life, all of it is better. But more than that, it creates a connection. Chefs know exactly where their oysters came from, when they were harvested, and who grew them. It turns oysters from a commodity into something personal.

You’re also restoring reefs and reintroducing oyster culture to South Florida. What does success look like for you five or 10 years from now? Success is scale with impact. On the farm side, we’re producing tens of millions of oysters a year and making South Florida a real origin on the map. On the environmental side, we’re recycling shells and putting them back into the water to rebuild reefs that have basically disappeared here. Five to 10 years out, I want oysters filtering billions of gallons of water off this coast again, not just from farms but from restored reefs. If we do this right, we’re helping to bring back an ecosystem and a food culture that used to exist here and should again.

Everglades Oysters’ cofounders Joshua Wilkie and Fabio Galarce (above) have created an aquaculture haven and are supplying fresh oysters to top restaurants.

PROFILE

MATCHA MADE IN HEAVEN

COOL OFF THIS SUMMER WITH VALENTINA MUSSI’S ORGANIC, TRANSPARENTLY SOURCED MATCHA

Matcha has infiltrated every café in South Florida, and at this point, the ancient Japanese green tea powder needs no introduction. Just ask Valentina Mussi, a Sunny Isles Beach resident who spent this past winter in Japan, working with a farm in Shizuoka, near Mount Fuji, to produce her new matcha brand, Valentine’s Matcha.

You might recognize the pastry chef from her popular recipe-driven Instagram account, @sweetportfolio , or her cookbook,  The Unofficial TikTok Cookbook , but she’s been a matcha lover for nearly a decade. Her road to creating an organic matcha brand began with a simple question: “Why is it so hard to find matcha that’s exceptional and transparent?”

For Mussi, it’s less about the Instagram-worthy cup after Pilates and more about what happens when a versatile ingredient finally gets used like one. After all, matcha is multifaceted, with a flavor profile that is equal parts umami, earthy, and herbaceous.

This curiosity set Mussi on a yearlong process of cooking, testing, and traveling to build her brand in partnership with biomedical engineer Pablo Rodríguez García. The brand’s name is an ode to a personal nickname and her Italian roots, celebrating her onomastico (feast day) on Valentine’s Day.

What sets Valentine’s Matcha apart from what you’ll find on most store shelves is how it’s sourced. “If you think matcha tastes just like grass, you’re most likely drinking lower quality matcha,” Mussi notes.

After months of testing, she landed on a single-origin, organic matcha made from the Yabukita single cultivar, commonly referred to as ceremonial grade, known for its vibrant green color and smooth, non-bitter finish. The leaves are shade-grown, then carefully steamed, dried, and stone-milled into a fine powder.

This summer, try Mussi’s matcha over ice with fresh strawberry syrup or follow her lead in rethinking how to use matcha in

various ways, from swirling it into Greek yogurt bowls, folding it into tiramisu, or even experimenting with savory dishes like gyozas and soba noodles. “It’s not about making a complicated recipe,” Mussi says. “It’s just about upgrading what you’re already eating.”

Valentine’s Matcha is available individually as a ceremonial sipping matcha, a baking/everyday blend, or part of a set with a bamboo whisk. Next, Mussi plans to roll out a matcha kit, complete with custom bowls to make the ritual feel more approachable at home. The brand also gives back, donating 1 percent of its revenue to Second Harvest Japan. “Since we have that level of cultural appreciation, it’s important for us to also give back to the community that is providing us with this,” she says. (valentinesmatcha.com) «

I love a collab, especially when it involves two favorite brands. Caddis’ new, vintage-inspired Shelby sunglasses (I have them in Oyster) are the perfect complement to Frances Valentine’s “happy dressing” philosophy—which also aligns with the Palm Beach wardrobe.

In South Florida, the sun doesn’t play, so my sunglasses rotation stays stacked. When I want to go big—think race weekend at F1 Miami Grand Prix or any see-and-be-seen moment—I reach for these Louis Vuitton frames. The oversize square shape is universally flattering, while monogram-covered lenses and signature hardware bring a bold finish.

THE FIBER EFFECT

DAILY CONSISTENCY STRENGTHENS THE MICROBIOME FROM THE INSIDE OUT

The nutrition space praises fast results and quick fi xes. “Eat this for instant energy.” “Do this for a fl atter stomach.” But fi ber isn’t like that. Instead, it is a nutritional long game that works by gradually reshaping the gut microbiome. Gut health is built slowly, and that’s a good thing. Read on to learn more.

WHAT IS FIBER?

Dietary fiber, a nondigestible form of carbohydrate, moves through much of the digestive system without being broken down like other nutrients. In the colon, it becomes fuel for the gut microbiome, nourishing beneficial bacteria and supporting this internal ecosystem. Think of fiber less as roughage and more as cultivation— the fertilizer of the gut. Its benefits are largely indirect, unfolding through fermentation and the production of compounds that support longterm health. Fiber works at a different pace, one that is subtle, cumulative, and transformative with time.

LETTING GO OF INSTANT GRATIFICATION

We’re used to feeling everything immediately: caffeine highs, sugar spikes, quick returns. But fiber moves slower and is more refined. And despite what wellness culture might suggest, more isn’t always better. Piling on fiber too quickly can backfire, while a gradual, consistent approach gives your microbiome time to adjust. Microbial populations recalibrate over weeks, short-chain fatty acids build quietly, and gut integrity strengthens in the background. You are quite literally shaping a living ecosystem that responds best to consistency, not force.

WHAT DOES THE LONG GAME LOOK LIKE?

Meet your body where it is and allow it to adapt. Small, steady increases will always outperform dramatic overhauls. Also, make variety your strategy. Rotate vegetables, roots, berries, beans, and seeds to support a more dynamic microbiome, and consume low-FODMAP options (that is, low in fermentable carbs that can trigger bloating and gas) if you have a sensitive system and need a gentler starting point. From there, it’s about your rhythm. Introduce one fiber-rich food, let it settle, then build. Play the long game and you’ll cultivate a microbiome that is resilient, well-fed, and working in your favor.

RAINBOW FIBER CRUNCH WRAP

Ingredients

2 tbsp. peanut butter

1 1/2 tbsp. coconut aminos

1 tsp. rice vinegar

1 tsp. maple syrup

1 large collard green leaf

2 tbsp. hummus

1/4 cup shredded carrot

1/4 cup sliced bell pepper

1/4 cubed avocado

1/2 cup sprouts

2 tbsp. kimchi

V To make the peanut sauce, add the peanut butter, coconut aminos, rice vinegar, and maple syrup to a small bowl. Whisk until smooth, then set aside. Rinse the collard green leaf and pat dry. Trim off the stem, then carefully shave down the thick midrib so it folds easily. Spread the hummus on the middle of the collard leaf. Add the carrot, bell pepper, avocado, sprouts, and kimchi. Fold the bottom half of the leaf over the filling, tuck in the sides, and roll upward tightly. Slice in half and serve immediately with peanut sauce for dipping or drizzling.

RED ROCK REVERIE

AT GLAMPING RETREAT ULUM, LUXURIATE IN UTAH’S CANYON COUNTRY, SURROUNDED BY MARQUEE PARKLANDS

A visit to eastern Utah feels somewhere between a journey to Earth’s core and another planet altogether. At the nexus of national and state parklands, uninhabited, ethereal landscapes stretch in every direction. Steep ridgelines and canyons reveal true wrinkles in time, topography shaped over millions of years. Colossal boulders teeter on precipices beside formations that shift from smooth sandstone to jagged and foreboding, carving valleys, hills, and sudden drops. Against

Settle in at Ulum Moab Luxury Resort (below) before exploring destinations such as Arches National Park (inset).

this palette of rust and amber, the sky does its own work: dramatic cloud formations casting spectrums of blue and violet, with flashes of green from pockets of flora. The scene changes by the hour, each shift in light recasting the terrain. The natural splendor here ranks among the most extraordinary in the United States—and it refuses to hold still.

Reaching this remote corner of Utah by air typically means connecting through Phoenix or Denver onto Contour Airlines, the only commercial carrier serving Moab. While connections aren’t always ideal, the final leg more than compensates. The flight doubles as a pilot-led overview of the American Southwest’s greatest hits, especially via

Phoenix, tracing paths over the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, and Capitol Reef National Park before circling closer to the visual apex of red rock country: Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park, with the La Sal Mountains rising in the distance. Seeing the scale from above sharpens the moment of landing and the immersion that follows. For those arriving by private aircraft, the approach delivers the same perspective. Once on the ground, Ulum Moab Luxury Resort places you squarely within it, a new glamping retreat set on its own sweep of archland.

Opened in 2023, Ulum is an elevated offshoot of Under Canvas, a hotel brand known for its casual, safari-inspired tented camps near national parks. True luxury accommodations close to U.S. national parks remain surprisingly scarce, which makes Ulum’s arrival especially well timed. Here, the concept goes further: a remote 200-acre setting, larger and more fully equipped tents (about 360 square feet), and common spaces that feel considered without trying too hard. Each of the 50 tents includes a king bed, private deck, rain shower, woodburning stove, and in-tent cooling. The central hub—a restaurant and bar framed by

retractable glass—looks out over sandstone formations and a trio of pools, with viewing decks and firepits incorporated into the terrain using natural materials. The entire site faces Looking Glass Arch, an easy hike and a constant presence, with wide-open views stretching toward Canyonlands National Park.

Ulum sits about 30 minutes from Moab, close enough for park access, far enough to feel removed. Days here build quickly: one or two in Arches, another in Canyonlands, another at Dead Horse Point State Park. The Colorado River is within reach for rafting, whether you want something gentle or more technical. Beyond the parks, there are endless miles of trails, scenic drives, and no shortage of places to pause and take it all in, plus opportunities for rappelling and serious rock climbing. Ulum can arrange much of it, but a rental car is a must if you want to move beyond the property.

It’s just as easy to stay put. The setting alone justifies a slower day (or two). Looking Glass

Arch is a short walk away, and the resort’s restaurant turns out thoughtful dishes using local ingredients—radicchio Caesar, grilled trout, bison ravioli. A massage therapist works out of the “wellness cave,” a century-old man-made space carved into sandstone and repurposed as a treatment room. Three dipping pools range from cold plunge to hot, with one in between. At dusk, guests gather for s’mores and conversation before the desert sky takes over. From your private

terrace or the shared firepits, the stars come into focus in a way that’s hard to replicate elsewhere. Ulum comes close to perfect—no small feat in a region where true luxury near the parks is scarce—but it isn’t without limitation: it operates seasonally, shaped by the same desert conditions that formed the landscape around it. For 2026, the camp closes October 29 and is expected to reopen in late March 2027. However, while the camp may close with the season, for those who’ve experienced Ulum, the place never really lets you leave. (ulumresorts.com, visitutah.com) «

PHOENIX REDUX

AT THE GLOBAL AMBASSADOR, A NEW KIND OF LUXURY HOTEL IS RESHAPING PHOENIX’S SOCIAL SCENE

Phoenix has long lived in Scottsdale’s shadow, but one major restaurateur is shifting attention back to Arizona’s capital city. At The Global Ambassador, nightlife and dining impresario Sam Fox makes his first serious play in luxury hospitality with a hotel built around what he knows best: food, atmosphere, and scene.

The 141-room property, part of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts Legend Collection, sits near the Phoenix-Scottsdale border. Instead of the sprawling adobe-style resorts typical of the area, Fox went in another direction entirely. Opened in late 2023 as part of a re-

development project also home to a Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury training facility, the six-story hotel swaps desert clichés for a more cosmopolitan sensibility inspired by Fox’s travels. Juliet balconies, striped awnings, European-style cafés, and textured interiors give the place an energy that feels far removed from the Southwestern resort formula.

From the moment you arrive, it’s clear this is as much a social hub as a hotel. The lobby buzzes with athletes, travelers, and locals, while the first floor unfolds like a neighborhood unto itself. There’s Le Market, a French-style café turning out flaky pain au chocolat and gooey cinnamon rolls; Le Âme, a modern French steak house serving excellent steak frites and a lobster bucatini finished with pecorino breadcrumbs; and an expansive lobby bar lined with towering forest-green chairs that spill onto a terrace overlooking exquisitely manicured grounds. Cocktails skew classic with enough twists to keep things interesting, from perfectly icy martinis to citrus-forward drinks that practically demand multiple rounds. A hallway leads toward the Pink Dolphin, the hotel’s Peruvian-inspired restaurant, featuring lighter dishes like cucumber carpaccio with corn,

radish, lime, and spicy chili crunch. Beyond it sits the parasol-lined pool, reserved exclusively for hotel guests.

Then there’s Théa, the rooftop Mediterranean-Asian restaurant that has become one of Phoenix’s toughest reservations. In 2024, Condé Nast Traveler named it one of the best new hotel restaurants in the world, and the place has been packed ever since. With Camelback Mountain views, DJs

Clockwise from top left: At The Global Ambassador, expect a dramatic entryway, a picture-perfect check-in area, and personalitydriven restaurants like Le Âme matched by innovative cocktails and reimagined classics, all across a Europeaninspired campus.

on weekends, and a crowd that regularly includes sports figures and glitterati, it functions as the hotel’s gravitational center. The menu is familiar but extremely well executed: spicy tuna crispy rice, piping hot pita for mezze like whipped ricotta with strawberries and honey, spaghetti alla Nerano, and grilled Prime cuts. As for the rooftop vibe, it’s every bit the big energy you’d expect for a place honored with a “world’s best” accolade. The guest rooms quiet things slightly without losing any personality. Fox selected everything, from the books stacked bedside to the photography above the beds. Textures dominate the high-touch design; virtually no exposed drywall remains. Even the whimsical hallway carpeting, patterned with birds in elaborate dress, feels intentional rather than merely decorative. Every room includes a bal-

cony, though second-floor accommodations come with especially oversize outdoor spaces.

Staying here requires some effort to offset the caloric damage. The fitness and wellness component is unusually significant for a luxury hotel. The sprawling gym doubles as a membership club and hosts trampoline classes and other programming through the Elevate and Activate series. There’s also a Reformer Pilates studio operated in partnership with Forma.

The bi-level, 16,000-square-foot spa ranks among Arizona’s most impressive. Massive locker rooms come equipped with Jacuzzis, cold plunges, steam rooms, saunas, and sips and snacks galore to satisfy a regular athlete clientele (think: fridges full of beverages and even Dos Equis beer on tap). Upstairs, guests can book infrared sauna sessions, cryotherapy, and other recovery-focused treatments. Among the highlights is the Mova Brazilian Lymphatic Massage and Sculpt, designed to stimulate circulation, reduce water retention, slim your frame, and tighten your face. It’s the kind of treatment that delivers the results you’ll want after eating your way through the hotel’s restaurant roster.

It’s that balance between late nights and recovery mornings that makes The Global Ambassador work so well. Come for the

rooftop dinners, cocktails, and people watching, then recoup with an intense workout or desert hike followed by time at the spa and pool (before booking another reservation at Théa).

Florida certainly knows its way around luxury hotels, but few properties combine this level of design, dining, wellness, and nightlife under one roof. Add in the temptations of all things Southwest cool—from mountain trails to Phoenix’s increasingly buzzy social scene—and suddenly the city feels tempting in its own right, whether for a long weekend or as the stylish jumping-off point for Arizona’s desert splendor or Utah’s red-rock country. (globalambassadorhotel. com, visitphoenix.com) «

Clockwise from above: Look forward to the rooftop view at Théa, the sleek pool, posh digs, state-ofthe-art fitness classes, and amazing cuisine, whether tableside or poolside.

MEMORY MAKERS

Walt Disney World was a cornerstone of my childhood. My family became annual passholders during the twenty-fifth anniversary celebration and visited regularly through the late 2000s. The “Remember the Magic” parade tune still lives rent-free in my brain—as do echoes of my mom whispering, “Mickey Mouse is waiting,” as she woke us up for what was destined to be a magical day.

I’m the mom now, and when it came time for my kids’ first visit, I felt overwhelmed by how much the Disney experience has changed in recent years. Would that same magic still exist amid the battle for Lightning Lanes, the hunt for TikTok-famous snacks, and the challenge of sneaking in a nap for my toddler?

I’m happy to report that the magic is very much alive—with the appropriate planning. That starts with choosing the right hotel for your family. For us, that was the Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort.

As the name suggests, this AAA Five Diamond resort is on Disney property and offers such conveniences as complimentary park shuttles and early entry. There’s also magic aplenty. Guests can attend Breakfast with Goofy and His Pals, watch Magic Kingdom and Epcot fireworks from their balconies, and book princess makeovers at the spa. Pair all that with exceptional dining at Ravello, known for its handmade pastas and wood-fire pizzas, and Capa, a Michelin-starred steak house

with Spanish flair, to arrive at a destination the whole family can get behind.

A key part of any Disney vacation with young kids is swimming at your hotel. The Four Seasons Orlando doesn’t just have a pool—it has a full-on water park with a lazy river, two slides, and a splash zone. My 5-year-old son took countless turns down the slides and my 2-year-old daughter gleefully splashed nearby, all while my husband and I sipped drinks from The Lakehouse restaurant and watched from lounge chairs.

Since opening in 1971, Walt Disney

World has grown to four theme parks and two water parks. While it’s tempting to try to do it all, you’ll have greater success if you’re realistic about what your kids can handle. We opted for a shorter trip, with full days at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom (a request from my tiger-obsessed son).

Magic Kingdom is essential for first-timers. Is there anything more magical than strolling along Main Street, U.S.A. toward Cinderella’s Castle, the scent of popcorn in the air? We rope-dropped the park and rode The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh before redeeming Lightning Lanes for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Other highlights? Parent-swapping for Tron Lightcycle Run, watching the updated Country Bear Musical Jamboree, cooling off with Dole Whips in Adventureland, and checking out the refreshed theming at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

But the best part of the day came at the very end, after we’d returned to the Four Seasons and ordered room service. Right before my son dug into his mac and cheese, he looked at me and my husband and said: “Aren’t we lucky?”

That was the most magical moment of all. (fourseasons.com/orlando, disneyworld. disney.go.com) «

The Four Seasons Resort Orlando offers free shuttle service to Disney theme parks (including Magic Kingdom), Breakfast with Goofy and His Pals, and rooms with balcony views of the resort’s water park and Disney fireworks.

HIGH ROAD

BIRD OF PARADISE

ROLLS-ROYCE INTRODUCES PROJECT NIGHTINGALE, ITS FIRST FULLY ELECTRIC TWO-SEAT CONVERTIBLE THAT’S A CONTENDER FOR THE ULTIMATE ROADSTER

My happy place is the South of France between Nice and Menton, just east of Monaco. It is here, in the visually spectacular enclaves of Villefranche-sur-Mer, Beaulieu-surMer, Èze, and Cap d’Ail, where the bluest-ofblue Mediterranean collides with the craggy Maritime Alps. It’s all connected by the Basse Corniche, a snaking ribbon of blacktop that hugs the coastline so tightly, it feels like one wrong turn of the wheel could dump you un-

ceremoniously into that azure briny.

But it’s hard to stay focused when the road unleashes such a blitzkrieg for the senses. Elegant belle epoque villas nestled within the surrounding flora. The heady aromas of jasmine, citrus, and freshly baked baguettes. Secluded bays and coves everywhere. Sleek superyachts gliding serenely across the horizon.

Along the way, take a side trip around magical Cap-Ferrat, stopping for a croissant in the port of St. Jean or a frosty rosé at the Grand-Hôtel du CapFerrat. Pass through Monaco, pose at Casino Square, then follow the Grand Prix course around the famous harbor. Just don’t do it in the height of traffic-snarled summer. There’s no shortage of automobiles suited for such a spectacular drive. But RollsRoyce is about to offer a car that will exceed all others in delivering the perfect Côte d’Azur experience. It’s called

Project Nightingale.

New from its towering 24-inch rims up, this all-electric, drop-top convertible is set to debut in 2028, with a price tag expected to top $5 million. Just 100 will be built, 30 of which are earmarked for U.S. buyers.

It’s a car with a real connection to the South of France. Take the name. Back in the 1920s, co-founder Sir Henry Royce owned a winter home near Toulon. On the property was a villa known as Le Rossignol, translated as “The Nightingale.” As for the car’s light blue paintwork, it’s aptly named Côte d’Azur Blue.

Project Nightingale—that’s the code name for now—will be the first entry in RollsRoyce’s Coachbuild Collection, a new line of highly bespoke, limited-production models that will sit between the mega-priced one-off commissions and production models like the new Black Badge Spectre. This powdery blue Nightingale is currently the only model in existence, and I was recently given an exclusive preview in Miami.

See it in the metal and there aren’t enough superlatives in Webster’s to describe its pres-

ence. Measuring an audacious near-19 feet bow to stern, it’s as long as a Phantom flagship, with lines said to have been inspired by the torpedo-shaped experimental EX Rolls-Royce twoseaters of the 1920s. While Rolls execs are staying mum about the tech details for now, we know it’ll use the same aluminum space frame and dual-motor electric powertrain of the Spectre coupe, but with more power, performance, and range.

What truly sets this car apart is its jawdropping design. This is automotive style at its most audacious, from the mile-high waistline to the boattail-like rear end. The pièce de résistance is the so-called Piano Boot (“boot” is Brit speak for “trunk”) that opens to the side, just like a grand piano. Add to all this those huge rims—the largest ever fitted to a Rolls-Royce—with a design inspired by

the propellors of a yacht. The front end is a thing of beauty, too, with its massive Pantheon grille, wafer-thin LED headlights, and forward-thrusting fenders.

If raindrops dare to descend onto this majestic machine, there is a power-folding canvas top to provide cover. But again, this is special in that it is made from a mélange of cashmere, fabric, and sound-deadening composites to quell any outside noise.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is that the cabin accommodates just two. Rolls says it heightens the exclusivity, though I’m sure some buyers would prefer sharing the expe-

rience with friends and family, much as they could with the previous four-seater Phantom drophead coupe and Dawn convertible.

But what an experience it should be, especially at nighttime with the top down. That’s because the interior features a whimsically named Starlight Breeze constellation of 10,500 LED “stars” wrapping around the driver and passenger. It’s only fitting, because anyone lucky enough to be one of the 100 buyers will be totally starstruck with this breathtaking new Rolls-Royce. «

REGAL BOATS’ VERSATILE NEW 43 SAV CENTER CONSOLE SETS A NEW BENCHMARK FOR FAMILY FUN

Boatbuilders come and go. Some survive and thrive, but many more go broke and sink beneath the waves. That’s what makes the story of Orlando-based Regal Boats so compelling. Founded in 1969 by Paul and Carol Kuck, the company is still firmly family-owned, independent, and managing to go from strength to strength.

Today, Regal performs its magic out of a 650,000-square-foot factory a stone’s throw from Orlando International Airport, employs nearly 900 workers, and cranks out more than 1,500 boats a year, ranging from 20 to 50 feet. Earlier this year, Paul Kuck, grandson of Paul and Carol, took over as company president. His father, Duane, had been president for 30 years. He’s still CEO.

The point of all this is that 57 years of continuous boatbuilding results in a lot of experience—in design, manufacturing, and delivering top-quality products. All of which I couldn’t help but notice when I stepped aboard Regal’s latest creation, the impressive 43 SAV fishing-friendly family center console at this year’s Palm Beach International Boat Show.

As much as I tried, I couldn’t spot a single design flaw, wonky cabinet drawer, rough-edged piece of fiberglass, squeaky hinge, or bubbly strip of gelcoat. And the sheer number of cool design touches was enough to fill a notebook.

No, the styling isn’t as radical as those slender, ax-bowed European rivals from Axopar, Saxdor, and Pardo. But there’s class and elegance in the Regal’s wave-cleaving angled bow, swept-back windscreen, and distinctive hull-side windows.

More than anything, it offers space, and lots of it. Step aboard, tap a button, and terrace doors on both sides lower to add five feet to the already generous 13-foot-2-inch beam. It feels like a dance floor, which it could well be, judging by the multitude of audio speakers. Don’t want to miss the big game? No problem. Settle into one of two sofas and power down the 43-inch flatscreen that pivots from under the hardtop.

While the 43 isn’t a full-focus fishing boat, it does come close

HIGH SEAS

with its two 60-gallon fish boxes, dual 30-gallon live wells, abundance of rod holders, and rocket launchers at each corner of the hardtop.

In the helm, there’s a near-full-beam outdoor kitchen, with twin electric grills and fridges, a sink, and acres of prep space. Close by is a quartet of comfy helm seats; the outboard seats can spin around to face the kitchen, while the two inboard seats can fold flat to hold snacks.

POWER FILE

PRICE: FROM $1.54 MILLION

LENGTH: 44 FEET, 1 INCH

BEAM: 13 FEET, 2 INCHES

DRAFT: 3 FEET, 9 INCHES

POWER: 3 X 450-HP YAMAHA

XTO V8 TOP SPEED: 45

KNOTS FUEL: 498 GALLONS WHY WE LOVE IT: BECAUSE IT COMBINES GREAT DESIGN WITH EVEN BETTER EXECUTION.

And what a helm, with its twin 22-inch Garmins, joystick control, air-conditioning, and excellent all-around visibility. I love the little Garmin display mounted on the captain’s seat armrest, which Regal has christened the GamRest.

The deck layout on this new 43 is offset in that the walkway to the bow is on the port side, with a raised deck and steps up to starboard. It allows for more space in the cabin and makes for easy stepping off against a high dock.

Up on the bow is a huge entertaining space, with a large U-shaped sofa and drop-in table. The deep bulwarks and sturdy handrails make this area feel super safe. Insert the four carbon-fiber poles and you can

quickly rig a canvas sunshade to cover it all.

The below-deck accommodations are surprisingly spacious, with a forward V-berth that can convert to a double, twin berths for the kids under the cockpit, and a roomy head with a separate shower.

So much about this 43 SAV is about choice. Regal says it offers almost a million ways to customize the boat—and that includes the engine. The base setup is a trio of Yamaha 450 XTO Offshore V8s, delivering 1,350 hp total. Those can push the boat to a top speed of 52 mph, or 45 knots. Prefer Mercury’s mighty Verado 600 V12s? Choose from twins or triples. The benefit of going with twins is that you get a bigger swim platform. And the 43 SAV rides on Regal’s proven OceanTrac2 hull design, renowned for its turn-on-a-dime handling and smooth, dry ride.

There’s so much to love here. The Kucks sure know how to build a great boat. «

For a dose of Florida’s signature quirky camp, head to Weeki Wachee Spring State Park in Spring Hill and take your seats for the live mermaid show. The performances have enchanted audiences since 1947, the height of Florida’s pre–theme park roadside-attraction era. Set in a crystal-clear first-magnitude spring and viewed from a submerged theater, the old-school show features real (human) mermaids performing underwater ballets while breathing from hidden air hoses. A ROCKET LAUNCH FROM THE SPACE COAST

Sunbathing on a rumbling beach as you track a rocket launch is a true only-in-Florida experience. The Space Coast has been a launchpad for interstellar exploration for decades, treasured for its eastern coastline (rockets launch eastward to take advantage of Earth’s rotation and increase payload) and safe over-Atlantic flight path. Anchored by the Kennedy Space Center and the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, the region has dedicated viewing areas to take in takeoffs for various missions, including SpaceX, NASA, and United Launch Alliance (ULA), as well as prime “front-row seating” at beaches and parks in Titusville and Cocoa Beach. THE PEACE RIVER

ENTER OLD FLORIDA BY KAYAKING THE PEACE RIVER, A SLOW-MOVING, TEA-COLORED WATERWAY WINDING THROUGH SOUTHWEST FLORIDA’S FOSSIL-RICH INTERIOR. FED BY SPRINGS AND RAIN, THE RIVER IS RELATIVELY SHALLOW—GOOD FOR BEGINNERS—AND BELOVED FOR WHAT HIDES BENEATH ITS SANDY BOTTOM: PREHISTORIC SHARK TEETH, MAMMOTH AND MASTODON BONES, AND OTHER ICE AGE REMNANTS STILL UNEARTHED BY PADDLERS TODAY. EVEN IF YOUR EXCURSION RETURNS NO TREASURES, YOU’LL BE TREATED TO SERENE SIGHTS INCLUDING OAK CANOPIES AND ABUNDANT WILDLIFE LIKE GRAZING CATTLE, WADING BIRDS, AND SUNNING GATORS AND TURTLES.

IN DEVIL’S DEN SPRING

Plunge into prehistoric Florida at Devil’s Den Spring, a subterranean spring beneath a collapsed limestone cave in Williston. Descend a short stairway into the cavern and find yourself immersed in crystal-clear, 72-degree water below a rocky ceiling pierced by shafts of natural light, an eerie and ethereal experience. Fossils dating back millions of years have also been discovered here, lending the spring an ancient mystique. Only snorkeling and diving are allowed in the den, and reservations are required. Welcome

THE NIGHT AT MALLORY SQUARE’S SUNSET CELEBRATION

Close your day the Key West way with the nightly sunset celebration at Mallory Square, where crowds of misfits gather as reliably as the sinking golden sun. Part street fair, part ritual (expect rounds of applause for both the sun and the scene), the social spectacle includes jugglers, musicians, fortune tellers, acrobats, onlookers, and what can only be described as oddities. It’s easy to imagine the ghosts of Ernest Hemingway and Jimmy Buffett lingering nearby; they’d be proud to see the funky, freewheeling spirit of the Conch Republic still very much intact. AT A UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA VS. FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY RIVALRY GAME

Soak in Florida fandom at full throttle at this iconic rivalry game. Played annually since 1958, usually around Thanksgiving, the epic Sunshine Showdown divides households, fires up tailgates, and makes these college towns even rowdier than usual. Whether you’re packed into UF’s Ben Hill Griffin Stadium

(better known as The Swamp) or FSU’s Doak S. Campbell Stadium, you’ll be swept away by spirited chants, Tomahawk Chops, Gator Chomps, body paint, and long-held traditions in the war for the Florida Cup. The 2026 game will take place November 27 in Tallahassee. (floridagators.com, seminoles.com)

AROUND THE WORLD AT EPCOT

From avocado margaritas in Mexico (our recommended starting point) to tartine aux fromages in France, eating— and drinking—around the world at Epcot is a decidedly adult take on Disney and a fun way to taste the globe without ever leaving the state. It’s practically a Central Florida rite of passage, with many a freshly legal Floridian opting to spend their twentyfirst birthday in a (not so?) memorable fashion. Grab a World Showcase Passport for the journey and meet cast members from all over to collect a note in their native language. (disneyworld.disney. go.com/destinations/epcot)

FOR GHOSTS IN ST. AUGUSTINE

Take a walk on the dark side in the nation’s oldest city. Founded in 1565, St. Augustine hides centuries of history in its coquinawalled forts and narrow streets, setting the stage for spooky, supernatural encounters. Guided walking and trolley tours—such as those by Ghost City Tours and Old Town Trolley Tours—introduce guests to storied sites like the Old Jail and historic cemeteries, blending cold-hard facts with spine-tingling tales. Skeptic or believer, the possibility of a flickering lantern light, echoing footsteps, and restless spirits proves the past isn’t totally dead and buried here. F TS FISHING IN THE TEN THOUSAND IS NDS

Test your angling expertise in the Ten Thousand Islands, a quiet pocket along Florida’s southwest coast near Everglades City. Using techniques like sight casting, fly fishing, and live bait in mangrove-lined tidal creeks and flats, hopeful fishers come to hook such species as redfish, snook, tarpon,

and sea trout—a challenging feat when you consider the stealth, patience, skill, and situational awareness needed to read subtle water conditions and cast accurately to wary shallow-water fish. Fish on or not, it’s a rewarding immersion into one of Florida’s most untamed marine landscapes.

THE DAYTONA 500

Fuel your need for speed at the Daytona 500, the official kickoff to NASCAR season and the crown jewel of American stock car racing. Held each February at the Daytona International Speedway, the Great American Race is equal parts sporting event and spectacle, drawing die-hard fans, celebrities, and casual spectators alike. Even if you don’t follow racing, the pageantry, roar of the engines, and sheer velocity (cars whiz by at nearly 200 miles per hour!) make it a defining Florida thrill. Rev your engines for the 2027 race, scheduled for February 21. (daytonainternationalspeedway.com)

HENRY FLAGLER’S PRIVATE RAILCAR

Gilded Age grandeur is on full display at the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum, where you can step into Palm Beach’s heyday and tour Henry Flagler’s private railcar. Built in 1889, Railcar No. 91 transported the Founding Father and his guests in opulence as they shaped Florida’s east coast by rail. Time your visit right and pair it with afternoon tea service during season in the Beaux Arts–style Flagler Kenan Pavilion or a Christmas tour, when Whitehall glows with seasonal splendor and Palm Beach’s glorious yesteryear feels present. AT GASPARILLA PIRATE FESTIVAL

Unleash your inner buccaneer when you let loose at Tampa’s annual Gasparilla Pirate Festival, the thirdlargest parade in the country. Dating to 1904, the citywide spectacle hosted by Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla arises each winter when the (fictional?) pirate José Gaspar leads a flotilla to “invade” downtown and demand the key to the city from the mayor, kicking off a day of cannon fire, bead-tossing, and costumed revelers lining Bayshore Boulevard. Go all in on pirate regalia or simply swashbuckle from the sidelines. Either way, the festival offers a window into Tampa’s playful pirating history and flair for theatrics, plus a Floridian spin on Mardi Gras–level fanfare. The next festival on the horizon is slated for January 30. (gasparillapiratefest.com)

Swim WITH WILD MANATEES IN CRYSTAL RIVER

One of Florida’s most memorable bucket-list checks is also among its gentlest. Crystal River is the only place in the country where it is legal to swim with wild manatees in their natural habitat. Each winter, hundreds of West Indian manatees congregate in the 72-degree springs, offering visitors the chance to respectfully commune with the slow-moving sea cows. The focus here is on conservation and passive observation. If you prefer to kayak, embark on a guided trip with outfitters like Get Up and Go Kayaking through famed spots like Kings Bay and Three Sisters Springs. Come summer, the same waters warm and transform into a hub for scalloping, making Crystal River a year-round destination for classic Florida fun. (discovercrystalriverfl.com, getupandgokayaking.com)

SANIBEL AND CAPTIVA

Shelling on Sanibel and Captiva islands is many a Floridian’s favorite pastime, but the activity draws visitors from all over—that’s because some of the best shelling in the world can be found here. Thanks to their east-west orientation and gently sloping shores, these barrier islands collect an astonishing variety of intact shells, from delicate angel wings and rare junonias to lightning whelks and alphabet cones. Early mornings after a storm are prime time to adopt the “Sanibel Stoop,” the posture assumed by generations of beachcombers; just make sure to avoid collecting live marine life like starfish and sand dollars, which is prohibited under Florida law. Shelling is a meditative reminder that in Florida, some of the sweetest souvenirs come and go with the tides. (sanibel-captiva.org)

ESTABLISHED IN THE EARLY 1900S BY GREEK DIVERS HARVESTING THE ABUNDANT SEA SPONGES OF THE ANCLOTE RIVER, THIS COASTAL CITY IS NOW HOME TO THE COUNTRY’S LARGEST GREEK COMMUNITY. ITS OLD-WORLD WATERFRONT STILL HUMS WITH BOATS, HONEY- AND SESAME-SCENTED BAKERIES, AND SHOPS SELLING KOMBOLOI (GREEK WORRY BEADS). THE NAS PENSACOLA U.S. BLUE ANGELS HOMECOMING AIR SHOW

Feel inspired at the Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola U.S. Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show, an annual two-day tradition marking the elite squadron’s return after show season. Held each fall, the thrilling spectacle pairs high-speed aerobatics with patriotic pride as the U.S. Navy’s famed Blue Angels zoom overhead in tight formation. Expect sonic booms, synchronized physics-defying maneuvers, and necks craning skyward all along the Emerald Coast. Best of all, admission is free. The 2026 show flies home November 6-7. Even seasoned outdoorsy types are in for a new experience when they camp overnight at Dry Tortugas National Park. On this remote island 70 miles west of Key West, there

are no facilities—camping here is undoubtedly primitive—but there are sunsets and stars like you’ve never seen before. The fee is small, but the pre-planning required is extensive: you’ll have to bring all supplies and survival needs including water, the only way to get there with gear is on the Yankee Freedom ferry, and reservations often sell out months in advance. But the hassle is worth it to immerse into divine isolation like few others will ever know. (nps.gov/drto)

SARA LUDMIR

A Trusted Name in Southeast Florida Real Estate

Known for her professionalism, market knowledge, and personalized approach, Sara Ludmir has established herself as a trusted advisor in Southeast Florida’s luxury real estate market. Based in Aventura with Coldwell Banker Realty, she has spent more than 23 years helping buyers and sellers navigate one of the country’s most dynamic real estate landscapes. Her long-standing career with the Coldwell Banker Realty brand reflects both her dedication to the industry and the lasting relationships she has built with clients throughout the years.

Originally from Lima, Peru, Sara brings an international perspective that resonates with South Florida’s diverse clientele. Fluent in English and Spanish, she is known for creating seamless communication and delivering personalized service to both domestic and international clients.

Sara’s extensive industry experience, combined with a degree in economics, allows her to approach every transaction with analytical precision and strategic insight. From detailed market evaluations to skillful negotiations, Sara is recognized for helping clients make informed real estate decisions with confidence.

Sara explains that in 2026, pricing strategy has become one of the most important factors influencing successful real estate transactions, particularly in the Aventura and greater Miami condominium market. With inventory shifting and buyers becoming increasingly selective, accurate pricing and strong market positioning are more important than ever.

Rather than relying on broad neighborhood pricing trends, Sara approaches every building and community individually, utilizing a data-driven approach to determine true market value and buyer appeal. She carefully analyzes each condominium association, evaluating not only comparable sales and current market conditions, but also the financial health and stability of each association, including reserves, assessments, management quality, and long-term value outlook.

“Today, you can no longer evaluate a property based solely on its location or surrounding area,” Sara says.

“Every building has its own financial profile and unique factors that directly impact value and marketability.”

She believes today’s buyers appreciate this level of expertise and in-depth market knowledge, especially in a market where financial transparency and building performance play a significant role in purchasing decisions.

Recently awarded the International President’s Elite designation, which recognizes the top 2 percent of Coldwell Banker sales associates internationally, Sara has consistently ranked among the region’s top producers. She attributes much of her success to staying ahead of market trends and continually adapting to the evolving needs of today’s sellers and buyers.

Despite changing market conditions, Aventura continues to attract buyers seeking waterfront living, premier amenities, and long-term investment potential. Strategically priced properties continue to perform strongly, especially those offering updated interiors, desirable views, and turnkey convenience.

Sara’s commitment to her clients is reflected in the relationships and trust she builds through every transaction. Michael and Rachelle share, “She guided us through the process with patience and care, making everything much easier. We really appreciated her dedication and support, and we are very happy with the result.” Another client praised her results-driven approach, saying, “Sara did a great job assisting us with the selling of our property and secured a deal in 7 days.”

Sara understands that in today’s competitive market, clients have many realtors to choose from, which is why expertise, knowledge, innovation, and personalized service remain the foundation of her success. She continually educates herself on the latest marketing strategies, technology, and global networking opportunities offered by Coldwell Banker Realty, all with one goal in mind: “Marketing Your Property Beyond the Standard.”

DELANO’S DOUBLE ACT

With the return of Delano Miami Beach after a six-year closure, one of South Beach’s defining hotels is back in circulation—and its restaurant lineup is giving locals plenty of reasons to walk through its doors again. Alongside the revival of the hotel’s iconic Rose Bar, now refreshed with a more ambitious cocktail program, Delano has partnered with Paris Society to debut two major international dining concepts in the United States.

First comes Gigi Rigolatto, the coastal Italian heavyweight with sister locations in Paris, Rome, and St. Tropez. Designed by Hugo Toro, the restaurant spills across Delano’s first floor, with softly lit interiors and sun-drenched outdoor seating that feels cinematic yet easygoing. The menu travels through Italy’s regions with dishes like delicate gambero rosso carpaccio brightened with espelette chili and caviar, a peak-season tomato salad dubbed Pomodori della Nonna, and tagliolini with king crab folded into a citrusy crab bisque sauce.

On the fourth floor, Dubai sensation Mimi Kakushi brings a different energy. Inspired by 1920s Osaka, the restaurant and bar recently landed on the World’s 50 Best Bars list (No. 36). Expect a more immersive style of cocktail service, from menus displayed inside vintage television sets to drinks channeling the life of Japanese silent film actor Sessue Hayakawa. A highlight is the Nara Nara, an imaginative tale of wartime espionage told via a martini frozen inside a massive block of ice, carved tableside using traditional methods. The food is equally memorable, from hyper-fresh sashimi to black cod and tiger prawn gyoza, baked lobster in miso butter, and sizzling Wagyu beef brushed with a chipotle soy glaze. Reservations REWIRED

HOW A MIAMI-BASED APP IS REVOLUTIONIZING ACCESS TO TABLES, EVENTS, AND EXPERIENCES ACROSS THE WORLD

It used to take a well-placed text or uncomfortable favor to land a table at the buzziest restaurant. Now there’s an app doing exactly that. Dorsia, a Miami-based, membershipdriven platform founded by CEO Marc Lotenberg, is reshaping how users secure high-demand reservations and hard-to-access experiences, both locally and globally. Part concierge, part connector, Dorsia opens access to everything from booked-out dinners to events that typically operate within closed networks. While the platform spans international destinations, its presence in Miami offers a clear look at how it works. (dorsia.com)

GETTING THE “IMPOSSIBLE” TABLE

At its core, Dorsia addresses a familiar challenge: how to book restaurants that appear fully committed. In Miami, where demand often outpaces availability, the app offers reservations through direct relationships with hospitality groups and operators. The lineup includes newer arrivals like Seia, Mamo Miami, and Yasu Omakase, alongside established names such as Carbone, Cote Miami, The Joyce, and Mila. In places like New York City, expect the likes of Coqodaq and Theodora.

A GLOBAL CALENDAR WITH BUILT-IN ACCESS

Where Dorsia is most visible is in its ability to secure entry even when events are officially sold out. During Coachella 2026, members could book access to after-parties, private dining experiences such as Nobu Omakase at the Red Bull Mirage, and viewing suites overlooking the festival grounds.

The same structure applies across fashion weeks, art fairs, and music festivals worldwide. This access is organized through Dorsia’s Cultural Calendar (aka “Moments” on the app), which functions as both a listing and booking tool in major cultural markets. In Miami, that includes

high-profile events during Art Basel and Miami Music Week, when members can access a range of programming, from private dinners and after-parties to events like last year’s Sol a Sol Art Basel finale at The Moore, a Dorsia member-exclusive event featuring international DJs. Earlier this year, the platform also facilitated restaurant collaborations such as The Joyce x Aoko and Fooq’s x Theodora, bringing members together through limitedrun dining experiences. Similar programming appears across other global destinations.

MEMBERSHIP EXPLAINED

Dorsia operates on a tiered membership model, starting at $200 annually for basic and scaling to $5,000 and $25,000 for Premium and Premium Plus, respectively. While the price points may raise eyebrows, frequent users often treat it as a reallocation of exist-

ing dining and entertainment budgets. Each tier comes with increasing access, including priority reservations, preferred pricing on events, and early entry to newly released experiences. In addition, the upper tiers include “Fun Coupons (FC)” a form of in-app currency in such high denominations that it nearly offsets membership costs entirely (read: Premium members will get nearly $5,000 in FC throughout the year). Note that prospective members are vetted, with acceptance based on network and alignment with the platform’s hospitality partners.

SIMPLE BUT STRUCTURED

The app itself is designed to be functional rather than complex. Users can search by city, date, party size, cuisine, and neighborhood, then book restaurants, nightlife, or events directly. All reservations require a prepaid

minimum spend, which is applied to the final bill. Unused amounts are not refunded. The structure favors users who plan ahead and are comfortable committing to a set spend, particularly in markets where last-minute availability is limited.

A PLATFORM EXPANDING IN REAL TIME

Dorsia’s footprint continues to grow—with 25 markets as of press time—and Miami is one of its most active hubs. In addition to a strong local restaurant base, the platform expanded into nearby Palm Beach and Orlando in 2026, while maintaining a presence in cities like New York, London, and Los Angeles. Seasonal destinations include Ibiza, St. Tropez, and the Hamptons in summer, and St. Barths, Aspen, and Courchevel in winter, creating a rotating list of bookable destinations that mirrors how its members move throughout the year. «

Dorsia hosts Sol a Sol parties in key markets such as Mexico City (far left) and Miami during Art Basel (top left). The app’s restaurant partnerships include The Joyce on Miami Beach (above and below) and Cote Miami (left).

Fooq’s

Originally opened in Downtown Miami in 2015, Fooq’s was the passion project of restaurateur David Foulquier, whose Persian-American, Mediterranean-inflected kitchen built a loyal following before closing in 2021. Foulquier promised a return. In early 2026, he delivered.

Fooq’s 2.0 is located in Little River, reimagined inside a 14,000-square-foot, two-story space developed with Joyn Studio, the team behind

Stockholm’s three-Michelin-starred Frantzén. The design is more expansive, a highly evolved version of its cool-kid original incarnation. A central runway entrance lined with wine bottles leads into a dining room built around a custom wood-fired suite from Demant Grills, with exposed brick, layered textiles (including dramatic double-story curtains), and a mix of Middle Eastern and midcentury references. A floor-to-ceiling bookshelf filled with artifacts from Foulquier’s childhood, alongside works by Austyn Weiner and Jay Blakesberg, reinforces that this remains a highly personal, community-driven space.

The menu stays true to form, with French technique filtered through Persian and broader Middle Eastern influences, plus an emphasis on seasonality and shareable plates. Standouts include warm za’atar sourdough with tahini eggplant, spiced lamb pide, Spanish turbot (served whole), and charcoal-grilled kebabs. The beverage program follows suit, with roughly 1,000 bottles spanning Champagne, Burgundy, Rioja, and Napa, alongside Persian-leaning cocktails incorporating saffron, pistachio, and pomegranate. Torno Subito

At Torno Subito, the name was always a promise. Italian for “I’ll be back,” the concept has lived up to its moniker. After a 10-month run at Downtown Miami’s Julia & Henry’s food hall in 2024, Torno Subito reemerged in December 2025 with a more fitting and posh home inside the Moore Building in the heart of the Design District.

This new incarnation feels like the version Miami was waiting for. The splashy, La Dolce Vita–inspired dining room—complete with curved green banquettes and sunny accents—is as photogenic as the plates. And those plates deliver.

Owner Massimo Bottura, the Michelin-winning chef behind Osteria Francescana, has raised the stakes considerably. The polpo e fagioli pairs tender octopus with creamy borlotti beans and fragrant herbs, while the whimsically named “A Cacio e Pepe in Miami” is toothsome, coated in pecorino cheese and black pepper, topped with citrus zest for a Florida interpretation of the classic dish. Seafood anchors much of the pasta menu, from

A three-course business lunch is a power move by day, while dinner invites indulgence, especially the American Wagyu with Barolo sauce and

optional shaved truffles. And for dessert, “Oops, I Burned the Key Lime Pie” arrives dramatically charcoal-black, its smoky illusion giving way to a bright, refreshing citrus finish—paired with a lightly smoked lime ice cream that’s as Instagram-ready as it is addictive. Torno Subito is proof that sometimes a second act really does steal the show. (tornosubitomia.com) —Jacquelynn Powers

SAVOR THE SUNSET

THIS VIBRANT SPRITZ CAPTURES THE SPIRIT OF A SUMMER EVENING IN FLORIDA

There’s something truly magical about golden hour—when the skies soak up the sun’s zest in fiery hues of pink and orange. I set out to craft a cocktail that captures that vibrant glow: a toast to the ephemeral beauty of dusk and the lively spirit of our region. I’m excited to introduce 1000 Sunsets, a seasonal spritz created in collaboration with the talented team at Jupiter’s 1000 North, where it is now available to try.

Made with fresh mango from Red Splendor Farm, hibiscus, and Floridian aperitif Munyon’s Paw-Paw, this drink reflects the best of local ingredients. I chose a low-proof spirit to encourage savoring, aligning with my mindful approach to drinking—focused on quality, balance, and connection. Every element of this cocktail is thoughtfully sourced, emphasizing sustainability and Florida’s flavors to honor our beautiful region. (1000north.com)

OLD GLORY

ZINFANDEL TELLS A DISTINCTLY AMERICAN STORY

I’ll be honest: I didn’t always understand Zinfandel. Until a few years ago, the only bottles I’d tasted were slightly sweet and syrupy, typically found close to the grocery store’s bottom shelf—not really my thing.

This changed when a (very persuasive) sommelier encouraged me to order a glass at a wine bar. I still remember its generous juiciness and evocative perfume, that classic mix of bramble, spice, and violet flowers. I quickly ordered a second glass. The seed of curiosity was planted.

Zinfandel vines first arrived in the United States from Europe in the 1820s, landing in New York before migrating west to California. By the end of the nineteenth century, following the California Gold Rush, Zinfandel was the state’s most planted variety, with clusters focused around towns like Lodi and Sonoma.

Today, some of those early plantings are still standing. Drive north through Sonoma County, up past the pretty town of Healdsburg, and you’ll see scatterings of very old vines—many more than 100, making them older than most found in Europe.

These old vines are magnificent: witnesses to a tumultuous century of history (surviving

two world wars and Prohibition) and visibly weathered. Many are several feet tall, gangly, and twisted with age. At this point in their lives, they no longer yield masses of grapes to make simple bottles for easy drinking. Instead, they bear small handfuls that are crafted into layered, complex, serious wines.

That glass at the wine bar was made by Bedrock Wine Co., whose focus is on working with vines just like these. Other names to look for include Mauritson and Marietta, whose vineyards I walked in Sonoma, and Ridge Vineyards, which makes some of the world’s most iconic Zinfandels.

For all that history and gravitas, another truth is simple: there is no better wine to pair with a barbecue—especially around July 4, and all the more fitting for America 250. Zinfandel is not only America’s historic, heritage variety, it’s also juicy, generous, and delicious. Not bad for a wine I once dismissed. (winebysarah.net) «

FROM CITY TO SHORE, THE FINE ART OF MIAMI LIVING

INTERIORS

Gilded Age

Sparkling blue waters and exhilarating sightlines stretching to the Miami mainland are just two of the reasons why Fisher Island is one of the most exclusive residential communities in the country. Those qualities convinced a Southern California couple that the private community would make the ideal East Coast escape. A condo purchase later, they were on the phone with interior designer Shannon Palmer, of Shannon Design, asking him to bring the residence to colorful life. While the property’s architectural framework was already in place and required no structural collaboration, the project was rooted in a highly collaborative relationship with the homeowners. “The couple envisioned the residence as a fully immersive retreat, a place

that offered a vibrant escape from the fast pace of daily life,” says Palmer.

The clients’ affinity for unique, charismatic pieces merged fluently with Palmer’s emphasis on function-driven design, resulting in a home that is as livable as it is dynamic. A bold color palette sets the tone, anchored by invigorating shades of blue, fuchsia, and citrine, all thoughtfully balanced to create “cohesion rather than chaos,” notes the designer. “These hues were layered throughout the home to build depth and movement, allowing each space to feel both distinct and connected.”

The living room ceiling features a striking wallpaper reminiscent of a kaleidoscopic composition that draws the eye upward and reinforces a sense of total immersion. Throughout the home, bespoke draperies, pillows, and tailored upholstery, all designed with luxurious high-end textiles, lend tactile

richness and comfort. Sleek furnishings, meticulously curated and custom designed, complement the layered aesthetic, alongside custom rugs that ground the spaces. A calculated mix of acrylic, wood, glass, and metal elements further enriches the layered effect, creating contrast and dimension without sacrificing harmony. MONOCHROME MOOD

MASTER THE ART OF COLOR DRENCHING IN YOUR OWN HOME

One color can do it all—if you let it. This striking design approach carries a single hue from wall to ceiling, creating a cohesive, high-impact atmosphere that feels both modern and intentional. Here’s how to apply it at home. (alenacapradesigns.com)

X

ACCENT WITH FURNISHINGS

Take the palette beyond paint by extending the hue into built-ins like bookcases, fireplaces, or shelving. From there, layer in furnishings—pillows, upholstery, rugs, accessories—in tonal variations of the same color family. The result feels curated rather than matchy. Planning these elements in advance will help you land on the perfect shade from the start and ensure an intentional finish.

START SMALL

The easiest way to experiment with color drenching is in smaller, well-defined spaces. Think powder rooms, bedrooms, or dens. The effect thrives in areas enclosed by four walls or in semi-contained spaces like a formal dining room. In open floor plans, it can be harder to create a natural stopping point, making the look feel less intentional.

LIGHT IT UP

LIGHTING IS EVERYTHING—ESPECIALLY WITH DEEPER, MORE SATURATED TONES THAT NATURALLY ABSORB LIGHT. BALANCE THE SPACE WITH A THOUGHTFUL MIX OF AMBIENT, TASK, AND ACCENT LIGHTING TO KEEP IT FEELING WARM AND INVITING. SOFT, WARM BULBS CAN MELLOW THE INTENSITY, WHILE CHANDELIERS OR STRATEGICALLY PLACED FLOOR LAMPS ADD DIMENSION AND PREVENT THE ROOM FROM FEELING FLAT.

ADD DEPTH

The secret to a truly dynamic monochrome space lies in the fi nish. Keep the color consistent but vary the sheen—opt for matte or flat on walls and ceilings, then introduce satin or semi-gloss on trim, doors, and baseboards. The subtle shift catches the light and adds dimension. Emphasize architectural details like crown molding or applied trim by using a different sheen in the same color to create a subtle yet dramatic effect.

For David Schwade, principal and creative director at Miami-based ANDstudio, the design of this Coconut Grove residence centered around an enclosed courtyard reimagined with a dramatic glass atrium, creating a seamless connection between the interior living spaces and the landscape beyond. “Our goal was to create a home that felt warm, authentic, and deeply connected to its surroundings through natural materials, light, and indoor-outdoor living,” Schwade explains. “Carefully selected materials and layered textures reinforce a relaxed yet refined living experience.” (andstudio.design)

ON THE RECORD WITH...

NATALIA CRUJEIRAS

HistoryMiami Museum is entering a new era as the Museum of Miami, reflecting a broader vision for how the city’s stories are told and experienced. We caught up with CEO and executive director Natalia Crujeiras, the institution’s first female and first Latina leader, to talk all things Miami. (museumofmiami.org) —Jacquelynn Powers

Aventura: Why was now the right time for the Museum of Miami rebrand?

Crujeiras: We are proud of our work as keepers of Miami’s memories for nearly a century, having built the largest living archive of Miami. But our work had outgrown our name. We remain anchored in history, but we care deeply about culture and the communities that make Miami, Miami. The Museum of Miami better reflects our reality. This is more than a name change, it is a shift in how our community experiences its museum: as a living, breathing archive. You’ve called this a “museum without walls.”

What does that look like?

It may look like temporary exhibitions in nontraditional spaces, traveling exhibits across Miami-Dade County Public Schools, projection mapping on historic sites, city tours, community festival activations, or oral history toolkits families can use at home. The idea is to think of Miami itself as the museum. Miami is the only major U.S. city founded by a woman, Julia Tuttle. What would she make of Miami today?

I think she would be pleased. She was among the first to recognize Miami’s position as a crossroads of the Americas and Europe. Alongside pioneers like Mary Brickell, she convinced Henry Flagler to extend his railroad south, and just months later, Miami was incorporated, forever

changing South Florida. Miami changes at lightning speed. How do you preserve the essence of a city that constantly reinvents itself?

Change is one of Miami’s defining characteristics. But beneath constant reinvention are stories of aspiration, resilience, and community that endure across generations. Our role is to preserve those stories through more than 40,000 artifacts, 2 million photographs, and countless Miami stories. What does Miami mean to you?

A mid-afternoon cortadito. A croqueta preparada. Some of the best ceviche outside of Peru.

Miami is home. I arrived more than 26 years ago with no family nearby, little money, and only basic English. Over time, this city gave me opportunities to grow. I knew I belonged when the airport’s chaos felt familiar, I knew where to find the best cafecito, and the humidity felt like a warm embrace. Becoming a mother cemented it as home forever.

You’ve said Miami’s stories are told through food, music, and culture. What instantly feels like Miami to you?

A whole fried fish at El Farito on Key Biscayne. Sundays kayaking with my children at Oleta River State Park. Gloria Estefan’s “Conga,” and Pitbull’s “Damn I Love Miami.”

As America approaches its 250th birthday, what role does Miami play?

Miami is the next great American city built by dreamers, refugees, and immigrants united by grit and optimism. We have learned to transform loss and generational trauma into empathy and resilience. Miami is still writing its story, and there’s a place for everyone to help shape what comes next. The Museum of Miami is bringing rare national treasures to the city for America 250. These documents ask a powerful question: What does it mean to belong in America today? That question feels especially relevant in Miami, shaped by people who came here seeking freedom and opportunity. These are not relics; they are reminders of promises made and aspirations our Founders held. Most importantly, they remind us that democracy depends on the participation of ordinary people.

The Museum of Miami tells stories through multimedia resources (left) and, in time for the America 250 celebration, rare historical documents from Founders such as George Washington (above).
