Johnson Leaning into the comprehensive Christian university experience written in our Guiding Principles, it is exciting to see the vibrancy in our student and our faculty accomplishments this year. More than 4,000 students came from around the world to PBA to study and to grow in wisdom, lead with conviction, and serve God boldly.

This year, our 200 faculty advanced their disciplines with nearly 100 presentations, over 75 publications, and 2 professors won Fulbright Scholar awards. Our students are not only preparing to make a difference in the future, but they are also making a difference right now. This year our students gave 76 academic research presentations to solve important problems in the world. They also participated in 943 internships/clinical rotations as a part of their course of study.

Equipping Purpose-Driven Clinicians for the Future of Health Care The PBA School of Health Professions launched its Master of Medical Science in Physician Associate Medicine program this fall—a transformative initiative that blends rigorous academics with a deeply rooted Christian mission while working to fill critical gaps in today’s health care system.

The ARC-PA (Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant) has granted

Accreditation-Provisional status to the PBA’s Physician Assistant Program, which advances a model of health care education that focuses on compassionate care, servant leadership, and ethical responsibility in delivery. This holistic approach enables PBA to develop not just competent clinicians, but also principled leaders who are called to serve with humility and excellence. Students will learn to see each patient as a whole person—body, mind, and spirit—and to advocate for the underserved and marginalized with empathy and integrity.

At a time when the United States faces mounting provider shortages and complex health challenges, this program is vital to the future of health care. It addresses the urgent need for preparing adaptable, service-oriented clinicians to lead in clinical and community settings.

PBA’s integrated model—combining hands-on training, interprofessional collaboration, and a commitment to lifelong learning—ensures that graduates can make a meaningful impact in the field from day one.

PBA Celebrates Class of 2025 Last May, PBA celebrated over 700 graduates as they set out to fulfill their vocational calling. In three ceremonies the University recognized graduates who earned bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and doctorates.

The University also welcomed alumnus Emin Toro, judge, United States Tax Court, as commencement speaker.

He has served in numerous public offices, including as a law clerk in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and for Associate Justice Clarence Thomas of the U.S. Supreme Court.

PBA graduates embody what it means to excel in class and on campus. During commencement, the University recognized several outstanding graduates—a prestigious award given to those who have made significant achievements in academic excellence, student life, and

community service—from each of the eight schools.

One recipient was Sarah Olson, who initially planned to study pharmacy but felt pulled to elementary education.

“I had never considered being a teacher before, so I did think it was strange that I felt led to education,” she shares.

“But I just got confirmation from the Lord in so many ways.”

These graduates also reflect Christ’s light within their homes and communities. A first-generation college grad, Pharm.D. recipient Kiara Williams is now the first doctor in her family. In addition to being a single parent, she’s an accomplished student leader—having participated in four

medical service trips to Central America, the Caribbean, and Africa.

She also had to endure the loss of multiple family members while in school. Throughout these challenges, she kept her eyes on God. “I’ve learned patience,” she says. “I’ve learned how to give grace. Being at a Christian school makes it easy to incorporate God into my profession.”

Faculty and Student Achievements PBA Recognized for Research Achievements, New Initiatives PBA’s academic community continues to break ground across industries.

This past year, the University had over 175 faculty presentations and publications, 76 student presentations and awards, and several prestigious international honors.

National and International Awards Three 2025 alumni (Sarah Olson ’25, Elementary Education, served in Bulgaria, Rebecca Nacy ’25, Biology, served in Spain, Halle Kibben ’25, English, served in Czech Republic) were honored with Fulbright English Teaching Assistant awards and will serve abroad as cultural ambassadors during the 2025-2026 year.

Additionally, two faculty members received Fulbright Scholar awards.

Dr. Thomas Parham, professor of communication and media studies,

will research how streaming services and U.S. runaway production affect Canadian cultural identity in Saskatchewan. Dr. Marcus Valenzuela, associate professor of management, will explore how migrant workers adapt to new cultural and workplace environments in Hungary.

Junior English major Johnna Ryan received the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study at the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities Scholarship and Christianity program in Oxford.

Driving Impact Through Innovative Research Many student and faculty research projects were shared at the annual Interdisciplinary Research Conference in March. Topics included the rise of homelessness in the United States, how wildfire ash impacts marine life, ethics in AI, unearthing trauma

through dance, and more.

Also new this year was the Ecology, Faith, and Justice Conference, hosted in association with the American Association for the Advancement of Science and Knox Theological Seminary. During his keynote, Dr. Thomas Chesnes, associate dean for the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, challenged Christians to better care for the environment.

These conferences—as well as internships—offer students a practical way to apply classroom concepts firsthand. In the 2024-2025 year, students participated in 943 internships, enabling them to grow as they fulfill their God-given calling.

Cinema Arts Students Receive International Awards In the department of visual and media arts, students learn to develop their voice, write compelling messages, and create strong visual narratives. They also get the opportunity to share those stories with the world.

In a nod to the quality of their training, last academic year cinema arts students took home several 2024 MarCom Awards. Hosted by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, the international competition receives about 7,000 entries each year, including submissions from major production companies and advertising agencies.

PBA students created four television commercials that won two platinum awards, a gold award, and an honorable mention. The commercials were produced by Antonio Zarro, associate dean for academics and professor of cinema arts, and Dr. Thomas Parham, professor of communication and media studies and Fulbright Scholar recipient.

Storytelling holds power, defining public debate and impacting political, economic, and social change. Faculty ensure students understand what it takes to create dynamic stories that foster these conversations.

“Our film program is very robust,” says Zarro. “Our goal is that, when students walk onto a production, they know what to do. We are big on experiential learning and replicating a real industry environment.”

Alumnus Caleb Cauley ’25, whose commercial took home gold, says the University empowered him to infuse personal experiences and class concepts into his film work and even tackle additional projects—like working on a documentary about refugees in Egypt. He hopes to work on more international storytelling, especially pieces that highlight marginalized communities.

PBA has received other awards over the years, in addition to three students that won Viddy Awards last year.

Students also attend the annual Festival of Media Arts in Las Vegas, an international competition hosted by the Broadcast Education Association.

This year, PBA celebrated another major milestone, exemplifying the University’s commitment to preparing future leaders for a dynamic global market.

This fall, the Marshall E. Rinker, Sr. School of Business became the Marshall E. Rinker, Sr. College of Business, with its new home opening as the Marshall and Vera Lea Rinker Business Hall in the spring.

The new status underscores the caliber of the business school’s AACSB-accredited programs, which places PBA among the top six percent of global business schools—and just one of 10 Council for Christian Colleges and Universities to hold the accreditation.

The Rinker College of Business will encompass two distinct schools—The School of Free Enterprise and the Catherine T. MacArthur School of Management— housing programs in accounting, business data analytics, finance, marketing, and more, plus several centers of excellence.

These renamings honor Marshall and Vera Lea Rinker, whose generosity and vision have helped shape PBA and the community for decades. Their legacy has been faithfully carried on by their son, the late John J. Rinker, and his wife Sheila. In 2002, the Rinkers led the development of the Vera Lea Rinker Hall, which houses many student performances and arts classes.

They also supported the Marshall and Vera Lea Rinker Athletic Campus and the John and Sheila Rinker Sports Center—but their contributions extend far beyond financial support. For nearly 20 years, Sheila has served as a Women of Distinction committee member. John’s involvement in various capacities, including his tenure as a trustee from 1999 to 2007, were pivotal in advancing PBA’s mission.

As more major industry players relocate to the region, PBA continues to gain additional recognition as a premier destination for Christ-first business education and leadership development. Graduate Programs Shape Purpose-Driven Professionals

In today’s rapidly evolving job market, graduate degrees help professionals enhance current skills and stay ahead of the curve. Whether students want to shift directions or deepen their calling, PBA’s graduate programs combine academic excellence with real-world relevance.

With over 20 master’s and doctoral options, working adults can make a lasting impact through flexible classes offered in person, online, or both. The University offers degrees in business, computer science, divinity, international development, nursing, and more.

No matter the field, students are equipped for success from day one. In the last academic year, there were more than 550 graduate students enrolled. Among the highdemand programs are the University’s CACREP-accredited mental health counseling program, which prepares compassionate therapists, and the Lloyd L. Gregory School of Pharmacy, which cultivates patient-first professionals who improve health outcomes.

Similarly, the new Master of Medical Science in Physician Associate Medicine program—which began in fall 2025— will meet increased demand for health care in the United States. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the

field is expected to grow by 28 percent between 2023 to 2033, driven by an aging population and an emphasis on preventive care.

The AASCB-accredited Marshall E. Rinker, Sr. College of Business also offers several degree options. The Marshall and Vera Lea Rinker Business Hall will serve as the school’s new home, enhancing degree programs like the longstanding Master of Business Administration or new Master of Accountancy. In the new facility—set to open in winter 2026—students will gain access to state-of-theart equipment and real-time market data, plus access to opportunities with dozens of Fortune 500 companies just minutes from campus.

As more companies migrate to South Florida, West Palm Beach remains a top location for job growth—giving students unique opportunities to intern or work with global companies, some of the state’s best hospitals, and leading nonprofits and churches.

Honors Program Prepares Students for a Life Well-Lived At PBA, education extends beyond the classroom. Through the Frederick M. Supper Honors Program, students learn to ask big questions, preparing them to become better scholars, leaders, and citizens—no matter their field.

“The purpose of school is to cultivate a love of learning, but sometimes you lose that,” says Dr. Tom St. Antoine, director of the honors program and professor of communication. “Many want to rediscover the joy in asking questions.”

Founded in the late 1980s, the program covers primary sources chronologically by authors such as John Milton, Dante, and C.S. Lewis. Welcoming about 100 new students annually, the program satisfies core curriculum requirements. It is ideal for students who want more than a grade or skill—who love thinking and asking questions.

Michele Rigby Assad ’95, who served as an undercover officer in the United States Central Intelligence Agency and now advises on corporate security, says the program helped her hone these skills.

“To understand the ‘why’ behind what happens and the greater cultural context for historical developments wasn’t

a natural way for me to think,” she says. “It helped rewire my brain to think differently, which is crucial when you’re in intelligence.”

For Rigby Assad, who earned her degree in political science, critical thinking has never been more important— especially as misinformation grows and technologies like AI rapidly evolve.

Thomas Lubben ’17, who received a degree in English alongside a music minor, adds that healthy dialogue and context are imperative in today’s polarized landscape.

“You have to learn to listen to others’ points of view,” says Lubben, who now lives in Nashville and pursues music full-time. “If we start thinking in these tiny bubbles, we have isolated, uninformed viewpoints. Our world would be so much better if we could articulate our beliefs and respect others.”

The honors program also offers unique research and travel study opportunities. Resembling British residential colleges and early American colleges, students can even join groups based on interests. In Athena House, those interested in the arts can watch a film or listen to music together. In Artemis House, students that love the outdoors may play soccer or camp.

“At the end of the day, the question is ‘What does it mean to be a human being?’” says St. Antoine. “When I talk with alumni I try to not ask ‘What are you doing?’ but ‘What are you reading?’ I want to encourage them to not lose that spark.”

Lead with Conviction

Where students develop purpose and courage to lead well Spiritual formation, leadership development, and community outreach all play important roles in a comprehensive liberal arts education, preparing students to become tomorrow’s leaders. At PBA, students are embracing countless opportunities to lead through chapel, student government, global study abroad and mission opportunities, and Workship service projects—embodying Christ’s call to serve.

Creating the Practice of Servant Leadership Through Workship, the University’s distinct community service program, students live out their faith by meeting real needs in real time across Palm Beach County and beyond.

This past year, the Workship team hosted 142 service opportunities, leading 2,326 volunteers who collectively contributed over 5,800 volunteer hours. Their impact reached 46 nonprofit and community partners, creating a fiscal impact of more than $175,000. Key partners such as the American Cancer Society, Feeding South Florida, Big Dog Ranch Rescue, and the Jewish Federation of Palm

Beach County were among dozens that benefited from PBA’s servant-hearted volunteers.

But the true value goes beyond numbers. Each project reflects a moment where students answered a call to serve, whether packing food with Meals of Hope, helping animals at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, mentoring children at Belvedere Elementary, partnering with the City of West Palm Beach to clean neighborhoods, or sorting donations at local food banks. These actions demonstrate a powerful truth: At PBA, service is not something Christians do; it is who they are.

Students Serve Christ Around the World The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice (Psalm 97:1, NIV) As Campus Ministries (CM) Global considered this an inspirational verse, God raised up over 170 students on 16 teams to share His love on distant shores. What is often taken for granted, others in these distant places view as precious. Students brought hope in places less than two percent Christian, the nation with the highest divorce rate in Europe (Portugal), the nation with one of the world’s highest suicide rates (Guyana), and in Amazon villages with no regular medical access.

one partner in Japan invited PBA to stay longer next year and said the team “…had ears to hear and hearts to follow. They were contagious with joy and let God’s kindness be evident to all…”

Students indicated they were stretched out of their comfort zones, developed a fresh heart for those that don’t know Christ, and expressed thankfulness to grow in their global awareness and leadership.

“I was specifically reminded on what it means to be a part of the global Church,” says graduate student Alexia Amick, who served in Portugal.

“I was also equipped with questions that can help lead to spiritual conversations I can use in meetings with students who may not have a personal relationship with Christ on campus.”

Many also found their trip to be a turning point in vocational discernment and calling. One senior accounting major commented he now “…feels equipped to go out into the

post-PBA world and become a light to others in [his] walk.”

Supporting the Whole Person: PBA Offers Resources for Mind, Body, and Spirit From mental health support to activities that reinvigorate the body, PBA works hard to care for students, faculty, and staff—ensuring each member of the University is supported in every facet of wellness.

PBA’s approach to wellness is uniquely rooted in faith.

Chapel services give students an accessible way to experience a greater sense of community and strengthen their relationship with Christ. Students attend a minimum of 24 chapel services throughout the year, and in the 2024-2025 year alone, over 400 services were offered.

Students can deepen their faith further through additional experiences, like chapel life groups hosted by staff and faculty and Anchor Worship, a student-led ministry. Every residence hall has discipleship leaders that host Bible studies and meet one-on-one with residents.

The University Counseling Center also offers an array

of services to promote wellness amongst students. After receiving an initial assessment, students can receive brief individual counseling or group counseling. In addition, the Center offers a referral service to a network of reviewed external providers such as counselors, psychologists, and psychiatrists. Staff and faculty benefit as well, with opportunities to receive educational programming, consultations, and training.

Students can also strengthen their physical wellness through recreation, including intramural sports such as volleyball, racquetball, and more, while the Greene Complex houses a fitness center and offers classes such as kickboxing and pilates.

Together, these initiatives reflect PBA’s commitment to fostering a balanced and supportive environment where every member of the community can thrive.

Expanding Perspectives Through Study Abroad Experiences

Every semester, PBA students have the opportunity to study abroad, giving them the chance to live and learn somewhere new, expand their worldview, and enrich their college careers.

The Rinker Center for Experiential Learning continues to play a crucial role in helping students navigate the logistics of studying abroad and broaden their horizons as they live and study in a new region.

Since 2011, the Center has sent over 3,500 individuals to countries around the world. During the 2024-2025 academic year, 308 students experienced semesters abroad, classes overseas, or other academic-related travel across 29 different countries, including Ghana, Japan, Malaysia, and Switzerland.

As part of the University’s motto of enlightening minds, enriching souls, and extending hands, the Rinker Center encourages students to be more than tourists. Study abroad experiences don’t just offer chances to sightsee, but opportunities to integrate into a whole new community.

While studying in London during the spring 2025 semester, theatre major Rachel DeAngelus gained a greater sense of confidence.

“Something I have learned and grown in over the past few months is confidence and self-worth,” she shares. “I have never been confident in myself. Since being here, the community I have found, and the experiences I have had, have led me to realize that I am strong in my identity, and talents, despite my previous view of myself. I am also learning independence; I have had so many moments where I have had to just figure things out.”

Sailfish Cup: A Time-Honored Tradition Rooted in Community Every January, students, faculty, and staff from each hall compete to win the Sailfish Cup—a beloved tradition that builds community, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Having celebrated its 30th anniversary in the 2024-2025 academic year, the campus-wide tournament continues to be an activity students look forward to, with a few adjustments over the years.

Kerry Condon ’17, assistant director of student activities, involvement, and leadership for Campus Recreation, says she surveyed students to learn what changes they wanted.

Now, there’s a smaller competition in the fall, with points going toward the main weekend. An opening ceremony now invites halls to decorate cars for a Sailfish Cup parade.

The lip sync competition—arguably one of the most anticipated events—is still going strong.

The Sailfish Cup competition began in 1992, when a handful of Rinker Hall students challenged Towers Hall to a sporting contest. In 2002, the University officially recognized and expanded the competition across campus.

As the tournament enters its 31st year, Condon is looking for ways to elevate it. She’s also drafting an oral history of the competition, talking to alumni, staff, and students.

“Pretty much every person has a memory tied to Sailfish Cup,” she says. “As a relatively young University, having a tradition that long is remarkable. It’s one of the things that ties alumni together.”

She adds that beyond healthy competition, the event strengthens friendships and deepens community.

“One student came to know Christ through [the tournament],” Condon says. “He realized he hadn’t experienced that kind of care or community before. That opened the door to conversations about the gospel.

That’s the most beautiful thing we could hope for out of Sailfish Cup.”

Leading in the Classroom and on the Field Student-athletes continue to exemplify what it means to compete with character and lead with excellence—both in class and on the team.

Academically, Sailfish athletes made history in 20242025. The department posted a 3.20 GPA for the full year, with 15 of 18 teams achieving a GPA over 3.0. A record 193 student-athletes earned a 3.2 or higher in fall 2024, including 35 who posted a 4.0—the highest number of perfect GPAs in department history. Spring 2025 followed closely with 190 student-athletes achieving a GPA higher than 3.2 and 31 earning a 4.0. Women’s tennis once again led the department GPA for the 13th consecutive semester, finishing with a cumulative GPA of 3.7.

PBA’s commitment to the academic success of studentathletes was further recognized with 213 studentathletes named to the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Commissioner’s Honor Roll, including a record 132 in the spring.

Nineteen student-athletes earned All-Sunshine State Conference honors, the highest total since 2021-2022.

For the first time in program history, the PBA women’s golf team earned a berth to the NCAA super-regional tournament, and junior standout Celia Schrecker made sure it was a debut to remember. Schrecker finished in the top 10 individually, delivering one of the strongest performances of her collegiate career. But even more than the leaderboard, Schrecker says it was about staying grounded and trusting her preparation.

“As I prepared, my mindset was simple: this was just another tournament,” Schrecker reflects.

“I reminded myself how many competitive rounds I’ve played and leaned on that experience. I felt calm, focused, and grounded in my faith, trusting that God was walking with me on the course and giving me the strength to compete at my highest level.”

After a solid opening round, Schrecker’s confidence grew, leading to her top-tier finish. It was the kind of breakthrough she had long believed was possible.

“I loved coaching our 2025 women’s golf team,” says Tim Graham, head coach. “They were an amazing group who did everything the right way. It was amazing to watch them work so hard and have it pay off.

We were blessed with great players, as shown by the school record book and the recognition many of our players received.”

Schrecker credits the team’s belief in one another, and the spark provided by newcomers Jaycee Jenkins and Riley Hamilton as keys to the historic run.

“The talent was already in place; it was just a matter of believing in ourselves and trusting the process,” she explains. “Blending Jaycee and Riley’s talent with our returners gave us the confidence and motivation we needed. We pushed each other to improve, and that belief paid off.” That chemistry propelled the Sailfish not only to a postseason appearance, but to a new standard.

With the program’s first NCAA postseason experience behind her, Schrecker is already thinking ahead.

Laura C. Bishop Dear Friend, This is truly a special chapter at Palm Beach Atlantic University. As we celebrate what would have been the 100th birthday of our founder, Dr. Jess Moody, we are filled with deep gratitude for how far we’ve come— and even greater anticipation for all that lies ahead.

With over six million annual visits to our website and applications continuing to rise, the demand for what PBA offers is great. Students from across the country and around the world are discovering the distinctiveness of a Christ-first education that equips them to grow in wisdom, lead with conviction, and serve God boldly.

The God-Sized Dreams Campaign continues to gain momentum, not just in blueprints and buildings, but in impact. We are thrilled to welcome students to the Marshall and Vera Lea Rinker Business Hall as we surpass our goal of $75 million to bring this gorgeous building out of the ground. We’re thrilled to introduce another exciting addition to our campus skyline: a 25-story residence hall including a state-of-the-art lifestyle fitness center, student union, and new dining options. Most importantly, this transformational space will allow students to enjoy a true PBA experience— one where students enjoy on-campus living and find a new home away from home, grounded in faith and community. These projects aren’t just about new buildings and updated facilities; they’re about preparing the next generation of servant-leaders to shine their light brightly in a world that needs it most.

As I speak with parents, I often hear a common theme: they are grateful their sons and daughters are in an environment that instills the morals and values they were raised with. They’re confident that PBA is preparing their children to stand strong in their faith while excelling in their chosen fields. Our alumni are a testament to this, as they represent PBA’s mission across the globe and joyfully return to PBA to mentor students. President Schwinn and I continue to build meaningful relationships with the businesses in our community, and we consistently hear how they are desperate for more PBA students as interns and employees upon graduation. We are delighted to hear that our graduates are making a cultural difference in the organizations where they serve and that their ability to lead themselves and others is so clearly recognized.

100 Years of Legacy, A New Chapter of Service As Palm Beach Atlantic University celebrates the 100th birthday of its visionary founder, Dr. Jess Moody, his legacy lives on in a new generation of servant-leaders—none more fitting than his granddaughter, Jessica Moody Bruce, who now serves as

president of the Alumni Board.

August 19, 2025, marked what would have been Dr. Moody’s 100th birthday. His bold vision in 1968 gave rise to a university built on Christ-first values, academic excellence, and a heart for service. More than five decades later, that vision is embodied in the thousands of alumni living out their callings around the world.

In January 2026, Bruce took office as the new president of the Alumni Association. Bruce earned her Master of Business Administration at PBA and has worked in real estate management as well as founding her

own production company, Moody Media. She joined the association several years ago as a board member and has served as vice president since 2024, as well as several other PBA committees.

Her connection to the University stems from the stories she heard about her grandfather, Dr. Jess Moody.

“He could be talking to the janitor or the president of the United States—it didn’t matter who you were—he made every person feel special,” Bruce reflects. “He was genuinely interested in and loved others. He

loved PBA and was truly dedicated to the mission of forming a Christ-first university.”

As she assumes the position of board chair, Bruce wants to help ensure the community her grandfather founded is stronger and more Christ-focused, building a robust network of Sailfish. Even now, the board is brainstorming ways to bring current and past students, faculty, and the community closer together than ever.

Bruce encourages recent graduates to not overstress about having their life’s purpose figured out—but to

lean on God for His guidance. She has seen how alumni stand out in the workforce. When she managed a real estate brokerage, she looked to the association to find well-rounded, Christ-centered applicants. Bruce theorizes that many alums garner strong professional and personal skills through the University’s educational, Workship, and chapel experiences.

“My position on the board would not be possible without the support of our awesome Alumni Association,” Bruce expresses, adding that alumni are encouraged to apply to join the board. “It’s a wonderful group of

hard-working people who are doing their best to serve the school. It doesn’t matter if you only took night classes for your graduate degree or if you were fully involved as an undergrad. A Bold Witness: Buddy and Connie Raney’s $5 Million Gift Supports Free Enterprise Buddy and Connie Raney believe in the power of God-sized dreams. It is what inspired them to invest in the next generation of leaders pursuing their own God-inspired dreams at PBA. The couple’s $5 million gift will establish the Raney Center for Free Enterprise, the newest Center of Excellence within the new Marshall and Vera Lea Rinker Business Hall.

Slated for completion in spring 2026, the facility is the first major construction project under the GodSized Dreams campaign.

Launched in 2022, the campaign reflects the University’s bold plan to maximize every square foot of its downtown campus to meet the needs of students and the wider community.

The Raneys’ transformational gift marks a significant milestone in this vision, and their story of perseverance and faith deeply aligns with PBA’s mission.

For the Raneys, the gift is more than a financial contribution. It is a testimony of grace, second chances, and the redemptive power of Christ.

Buddy, a 2023 American Free Enterprise Day companion medalist, built a thriving construction business after overcoming addiction and leaving school at age 16. In 1997, he launched Raney Construction Inc., which grew significantly over the years—even during economic downturns. After selling the business in 2019, he faced an identity crisis, but found renewed purpose through faith and fellowship.

Connie, whose healing journey has inspired her to write and publish three books, uses her testimony to encourage others to live with courage and spiritual freedom. Her work

reflects her commitment to pointing people back to God, and she remains a passionate advocate for faith-based mentoring and education.

The Raneys became connected to the institution through their friend and PBA board member Karl Watson Jr., who invited them to speak with students. Those interactions became defining moments for the couple.

From a student from Finland who called home after hearing Buddy speak, to another who chose to redirect her life mission, the Raneys were reminded that their story could make a difference in the lives of young people navigating their own faith journeys.

Indeed, the Raney Center for Free Enterprise will serve as a hub for academic and spiritual formation.

In line with the Rinker College of Business’s AACSB accreditation, the Center will offer coursework, lectures, mentorship, and experiential learning that focus on the moral and biblical foundations of free enterprise.

Students will be challenged to think innovatively and cultivate bold, Christfirst visions for their lives and careers.

The business hall has benefitted from the generosity of other named Center of Excellence donors, including Ray and Andrea Titus for the Titus Center for Franchising, and George LeMieux for the LeMieux Center for Public Policy.

PBA continues to make landmark accomplishments in its God-Sized Dreams campaign, building innovative spaces for students to learn and live on campus. This year, PBA reached a historic milestone—the initial $75 million goal raised for the campaign! This momentum is a bold investment in students and affirms the belief donors and supporters have in the University’s mission and its life-changing impact.

As the final beam of the business hall was lifted into place in May 2025, nearly 200 people gathered to celebrate a new chapter in PBA’s history. The topping-off ceremony represented more than architectural progress. It marked a spiritual commitment—one that has guided PBA since its founding.

The six-story, 125,000-square-foot business facility is set to open soon as the new home of the AACSB-accredited Marshall E. Rinker, Sr. College of Business. Designed to equip Christfirst leaders, the building will house the Titus Lecture Auditorium, the LeMieux Center for Public Policy, the Titus Center for Franchising, and other spaces that foster ethical leadership, innovation, and service.

A new chapter in the student experience has also begun—with work started on the landmark 25-story residence hall. The project is the second under the God-Sized Dreams campaign, enabling PBA to bring more students back to campus— those who previously needed to secure offcampus accommodations—and supporting the University’s steady, mission-driven growth. With four consecutive years of enrollment increases, the demand for PBA’s Christ-first, academically excellent education continues to rise.

Designed with the student experience in mind, the 319,000-square-foot tower will offer apartment-style housing and feature dynamic spaces that promote connection, wellness, and whole-person education. The space will feature a 28,000-square-foot dining facility, a 14,000-square-foot fitness and recreation center, and thoughtfully designed lounges for study, relaxation, and community-building.

The design extends outdoors with landscaped pathways and green spaces to encourage rest and environmental mindfulness. An adjacent multi-level parking garage will increase oncampus parking and improve accessibility.

Set to open in 2027, the residence hall will welcome nearly 1,000 students into a modern living and learning environment—in the heart of a city on the rise. PBA’s campus in downtown West Palm Beach, aptly nicknamed “Wall Street South,” is just minutes from dozens of Fortune 500 companies and global financial firms. In this fastgrowing business hub, students gain access to internship, networking, and career opportunities that will shape industries and communities.

The campaign was publicly launched in November 2022, after the University announced a $26 million gift from John J. and Sheila Rinker ($20 million) and the Marshall & Vera Lea Rinker Foundation ($6 million), of which John was president. Their gift sparked the first construction initiative. PBA’s milestone of $75 million reflects this continued belief in Christian higher education and students’ potential.

Paul Leone Reflects on Servant Leadership at PBA’s 40th American Free Enterprise Ceremony When Paul Leone, CEO of The Breakers Palm Beach, Beach, stood in before a packed Rubin Arena filled with students, faculty, staff, and community members to accept the American Free Enterprise Day medal, he had a simple but clear message that has guided his career: “‘Doing well and doing good’ is not just a principle; it is a way to build a business, shape

culture, and serve the community.”

His words reflected the same servant leadership principles that PBA instills in its students.

Leone was honored alongside companion medalists Kelly Smallridge, president and CEO of the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, and Troy Maschmeyer, CEO of Maschmeyer Inc., at PBA’s American Free Enterprise Day in November 2024. The annual event is a powerful tribute to values that define both the

University and the nation: faith, hard work, and free enterprise.

Leone shared reflections from his 40-year journey with The Breakers, where he rose from controller to CEO. Under his leadership, the resort prioritized employee investment, achieving a 94 percent satisfaction rate and national recognition as a top place to work. He urged students to embrace free enterprise as a tool to improve lives while remaining rooted in purpose and service.

The event also featured the Seminole Ridge Community High School Hawk Battalion Female Color Guard. PBA’s Oratorio Choir, under the direction of Sonia Santiago, led the national anthem.

33rd Annual Women of Distinction Honors Penny G. Murphy and Amanda Schumacher In February 2025, at the Women of Distinction Luncheon at The Breakers Palm Beach, it was evident that Penny G. Murphy and Amanda Schumacher are beloved leaders and inspirations in the community and beyond. From the greeting line to the standing ovation from more than 250 attendees, they were honored for their exceptional work in their respective business fields, and even more so for their unwavering philanthropy toward worthy causes.

Murphy, a third-generation West Palm Beach native, has spent decades blending business leadership with civic service. After founding a private kindergarten and later raising her family, she joined the family’s iconic business, Pioneer Linens, eventually serving as president. She has served on boards including the Historical Society of Palm Beach County and the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches, and numerous organizations have recognized her leadership.

Schumacher, an entrepreneur and founder of Tree of Life Foundation International Inc., has devoted her life to

humanitarian work. Through her foundation’s 22 branches and global partnerships, Schumacher provides transitional housing, employment opportunities, and crisis relief.

Her work spans business, philanthropy, and advocacy— touching lives across continents and her local community.

For the second year, the event also bestowed the Humanitarian Award to a PBA alumna who has made an impact. Kaelin Hatfield ’24, received the 2025 award for her two initiatives—LifeLoving365 and Christ in Crisis—to support mental health and deliver humanitarian aid around the globe.

Proceeds from the luncheon serve to further the mission of the University and to support scholarships for deserving students. This year’s recipients were Elizabeth Akintujoye, Reagan Bozarth, Claire Crossman, Valentina Guzman, Ludnie Saint-Juste, and Julia Seagle.

Alumni and Other Notable Guests Take Center Stage at PBA Events Community is an integral part of the PBA experience, not only for students, but for faculty, staff, alumni, and friends.

One way the University fosters this community is through frequent events. With signature events like Women of Distinction, guest lectures with the LeMieux Center for Public Policy, and festivities like Founders Day, there are countless opportunities for the campus community and the public to connect. This year, PBA celebrated some especially meaningful events.

William M. B. Fleming, Jr. reflects on his time as PBA president.

At Homecoming & Family Weekend, Phil ‘85, and Jennifer ‘86, Rothschild received the Distinguished Alumni Award during PBA’s Homecoming chapel. After being diagnosed with a degenerative eye disease at just 15 years old, Jennifer was determined to overcome the challenge of blindness and use her story for good. She and her husband lead a ministry called Fresh Grounded Faith, hosting events across the nation to uplift women with practical, biblical teachings. Following the Homecoming chapel, friends and alumni gathered for a luncheon celebrating William M. B. Fleming, Jr., who served as PBA interim president and president from 2010 to 2020. During

the ceremony, alumnus A.J. Titus ’14, shared about the impact Fleming made on his life.

During a student chapel in March, PBA recognized Sara McCann, founder and creative director of Hive Collective, for her contributions to the Palm Beach County community.

McCann joined the board of trustees in 2024 and has offered exceptional guidance to University leadership. She was also honored as an American Free Enterprise Day companion medalist in 2024, celebrating her remarkable example as a local Christian business leader.

In April, the LeMieux Center for Public Policy hosted alumna Michele Rigby Assad—former CIA operative and published author—for a compelling lecture on her experiences in intelligence and international affairs. Rigby Assad now uses her experience to support relief efforts for persecuted Christians across the globe. Her book, “Get Off the X,” shares practical advice for how to successfully set and accomplish goals. Other notable speakers included Wilbur L. Ross Jr., former U.S. Secretary of Commerce, and Elizabeth Neumann, a national security and violence prevention expert who served three presidential administrations.

Building God-Sized Dreams on Campus and Beyond PBA continues to build boldly toward the future—supported by generous donors that believe in helping students prepare for a life of purpose.

With an endowment of $117.5 million, the University can provide continued support to its students.

In 2024-2025, the University raised $19.9 million through cash donations and pledges, and over $50 million in scholarships were awarded through endowments and institutional aid. This reflects the generosity of donors who are committed to making Christ-first education accessible.

In addition to new construction projects, PBA was also able to make several building and landscape updates—a strategic blend of new

buildings and reinvestments in existing facilities.

Among the upgrades were the Rubin Arena, Greene Complex, and Rinker Athletic Campus, including updated offices, flooring, paint, and furnishings. Gregory Hall underwent a remodel of its first floor, while the second floor of Sachs Hall was refreshed.

Residential spaces also saw important improvements. Baxter Hall and Okeechobee Hall underwent remodeling, and Oceanview Hall received a comprehensive refresh. To

make room for the new residence hall, the Visual Arts Studio was relocated and remodeled.

Every new building, upgraded classroom, and scholarship tells the story of a donor, a foundation, or an institution that believed in the transformative power of faithinfused learning. Through continued investment in both people and places, PBA is fueling God-sized dreams—equipping students to grow in wisdom, lead with conviction, and serve God boldly.
