Hi, I’m a Chihuahua girl named Bella! I weigh in at 12 pounds and was born April 9, 2017 so that makes me nearly 8-years-old. I’m looking for a home where I can flourish and be given the love of my very own family! I’m in foster care now and I’m a total love bug. When you sit on the couch, I jump right up and snuggle next to you. I will nudge your hand wanting to be petted. I will sleep in the bed with you and crawl up under the covers to snuggle close. I’m also active and love to play tug-of-war and fetch. I’m a bit of a chow hound, too, and always ready for something to eat. I am house-trained, as well! Once, when my foster mom didn’t take me out soon enough, I started circling to tell her I had some business to take care of. While my foster mom is at work, I’m left in the den where pee pads are laid down (and I will go on them). I’m looking for a home where I can be the only dog. Even on leashed walking, I react negatively to other dogs. I also must have a fenced yard for playtime and exercise. Won’t you submit an application at www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ so we can schedule a meet and greet? You may also call Chihuahua Rescue and Transport at 724-681-4715 for more information.
Super special thanks to Irene Cotter of Fur-Fetched Photography and Samantha Stocke of Chihuahua Rescue and Transport for making my cover model dreams come true.

Do you hear me knocking on this door? If only I could reach the handle and head straight into your arms! My name is Morris and I’m an entertaining boy with personality plus. I tick all the boxes: I’m very affectionate, happy, curious, playful, loving, friendly…the list just goes on and on! I am also up to date on shots, neutered and litterbox-trained. My name is Josie and I would LOVE to meet you. I was saved from a rural shelter hours before it was my turn to be euthanized. Unforgotten Souls knew that I was a good girlie and they saved me! My foster mom says when I first arrived to her house, I was a little wild but only because I wanted the love and attention that I had never experienced before. I didn't know how to be polite about it. Thankfully, my foster family gave me time to decompress and showed me I was worth all the love in the world. They taught me how to be a dog and introduced me to their dogs. My foster mom is so proud of the dog I have become and how beautiful I am all the time. I've never been told that before or even been given affection or pets. I always give her kisses and crawl into her lap to lay my head on her shoulder and say thank you for giving me a chance. I can’t wait to find my very own forever family. I’m not too picky, but I do LOVE children so much that I would LOVE to find a home with kiddies to hang out with. Oh, I also really love other dogs, too - so some doggie pals would be great! I’m already house-trained and crate-trained, and I’m fully vetted as well. I’m a one-of-a-kind delightful pup so please reach out for more info on me! You can visit Unforgotten Souls online at www.theunforgottensouls.com and click on ‘Adopt’ or email theunforgottensouls@gmail.com to get the process started. THE UNFORGOTTEN SOULS
Are you looking for a perfectly polite snuggle bug to be your bestie? My name is Cammie and I’m an absolute doll baby. I am house-trained, great with other dog pals, great with kids, and an absolute snuggle bug. At just 2-years of age, I’m a polite pup who is 45 pounds, fully vetted and spayed. I’m a bundle of joy who thinks belly rubs are a serious business. I’m well-mannered, great on car rides, an expert at greeting pals with a wagging tail, and my goofy antics are guaranteed to turn any frown upside down. Visit us at www.theunforgottensouls.com and click on ‘Adopt’ or email theunforgottensouls@gmail.com for more info. To check out hilarious videos of me and to see our other adoptable pets, all you have to do is visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/unforgottensoulsrescue. ♥
COLUMBUS HUMANE SOCIETY
My name is Oreo and I’m a 10-month-old tuxedo girl with almost perfect markings. I’m great with other cats and get along great with Trixie (who is also available for adoption). I am small and very playful, I’m friendly and sweet, I have all my shots and have been spayed. I’ll make a great house companion as I use the scratching post and litterbox faithfully. Who doesn’t love that? I’ve never seen a dog before but I’d probably be good with older kids. Please call my foster mom, Laura, at 224-805-2825. ♥
RESCUECONNECT
HAMILTON’S HEALING HEARTS
Are you looking for a companion who’s not too small and not too big?
Well, that’s me! My name is Shawna and I’m just right… right for you that is! I came all the way to NC from Louisiana (where I had run out of time at a county shelter). I was tested with other dogs and I passed. I adore everyone I meet and I’m heartworm free. I am spayed, microchipped and vaccinated. I have a stunning coat of colors and can’t wait to show you my loving soul. To adopt me, email hamiltonshealinghearts@gmail.com or call 910-271-5170. ♥
My name is Callie and I love car rides and other big dogs. I’m super sweet, I’m heartworm negative, and I’ve been spayed and vaccinated. I’m playful and would do well with an active family in a cat-free home.
I’m a Pit Bull mix who is around 3-years-old. Will you give me the chance to love you? If you would like more info or would like to adopt me, please call 910-271-5170 or send an email to hamiltonshealinghearts@gmail.com. ♥
Hi, I am Cheerio! I am a 5 to 6-year-old Beagle who used to live outside with other Beagles but now I am adjusting to the wonderful indoor life! I am housetrained and I would prefer a home with older kids and a doggie companion while I am learning all about this new way of living. I am a little shy at first and may bark to let you know but once I trust you, I am full of personality and love. I need a patient family who will work with me on all the new things I am learning and I promise I will be worth the effort. If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an adoption application at www.rescueconnectnc.com or call 910-302-7290. ♥
My name is Mr. Wilson and I’m a very affectionate 4-year-old boy who loves going for car rides and meeting new people. I also happen to be deaf. I will rely on you to communicate with me via body language, hand signals, and even facial expressions. Because of this, our bond will be special and unique! I am great with other dogs but not cats as I find them fun to chase. I have completed a 6-week obedience course where I learned all kinds of things. I have a willingness to please and to adapt to my deafness and I’m learning new training skills. Having the handicap of being deaf does not stop me at all. I’m looking for a family who will continue my training so I can work on learning more hand signals. I’m an all-around amazing guy and would do well with an adventuresome family. I’m also neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. To adopt me, call 910-271-5170 or send an email to hamiltonshealinghearts@gmail.com. ♥
My name is Finn and I’m a 5-year-old Hovawart and German Shepherd mix. I am current on vaccinations, neutered and microchipped. I love to play outside and do well with other dogs. No cats though! To adopt me, please call 910-271-5170 or email hamiltonshealinghearts@gmail.com. ♥

A SHELTER FRIEND
I’m Jett, a sweet Pocket Bully who is around 5-years-old. I am a calm and affectionate girl with a gentle disposition and lots of love to share. Not only did I ace the dog test at the shelter, but I will wiggle my way into your lap and your heart. I am vaccinated and spayed, so if you're looking for a loving companion to join your family, I'd be thrilled to meet you! Please call or text Sean at 910-918-5118 or Silvia at 910-876-0539 to learn about me and how we can meet. No one will ever love you like a dog who was once abandoned. ♥
RUFFIAN FOUNDATION
COASTAL ANIMAL RESCUE EFFORT
I’m a sweet Pit Bull fella named Gomez who was found abandoned on the side of the road. Starving and injured, a good Samaritan took me to a local shelter for help. Knowing I needed more than the shelter could provide, the good Samaritan reached out to CARE to see if they could help. Now, I’m thriving! I am super loving and playful. My injury, a dislocated hip, is healing and I am anxious to get to normal activities. Unfortunately, full activity will have to wait until I’ve also been treated for heartworms. I will do well in a home with people and dogs to play and snuggle with. To meet me or learn more, email carewilmington@yahoo.com or call
PAWSITIVE PARTNERS PRISON PROGRAM
Hello! My name is Inky. I am a 9-year-old tuxedo boy who is super-friendly and nice and chunky. I was surrendered by my owner when they found out I was FIV positive. That made me sad. I get along great with other cats and am a lover, not a fighter. FIV cats can live long and happy lives indoors. I am a great companion and would love to hang out with you on the couch. I like other cats just fine but I would be ok as an only cat, too. I’m also neutered, vaccinated, and litterboxtrained. Please, won’t you give me a home? Call Sharon from The Ruffian Foundation at 910-262-8890 and let’s set up a day and time to meet. ♥
CAROLINA ANIMAL PROTECTION SOCIETY
My name is Panther and I’m about 2-years-old. I was found outside a local restaurant where I had been begging for food. My ear had already been tipped before I came to Carolina Animal Protection Society. That meant I had been neutered so I got updated vaccinations and went into a foster home. It’s so much nicer than surviving on the streets. I’ve adjusted well and even though I’m a little shy with strangers, I’m very sweet once we get to know each other. I have not been around small children or dogs in my foster home. For information, please email capsrescue@yahoo.com, call 910-455-9682, or visit www.capsrescue.com. ♥
My name is Trix and I’m the only pup left from the Brunch Buddies group with Monty’s Home prison program. I have graduated from my 7-weeks of training and am ready for a home. I’m a 1-year-old Lab mix boy and am neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and on heartworm prevention. And if that’s not enough, I even come with my own crate, harness, leash, toys and bed! Call Gail at 732-693-8462 or email adopt@montyshome.org if you are interested in adopting. Better yet, fill out an application on www.montyshome.org and she’ll call you! Hurry, I am very handsome and will go quick when folks see this in PawPrints! ♥
OPERATION TOPCAT
My name is Ghost, and I’m a handsome 2-year-old Lynx Point Siamese. I’m a confident kitty who gets along best with passive cats, but I can still sometimes be a little bossy with them! I’m affectionate and enjoy being petted and laying in bed with you. I love wet food and treats! I get along with friendly and calm dogs and kids. I’d be fine as your one and only also. I may be shy and scared at first, but once I warm up, I’ll be your buddy. I’m looking for my forever, indoor only home. Visit www.operationtopcatnc.org and submit an application. You may also call 910-545-9885 or email otopcatnc@gmail.com for more information. ♥
▲One of the shelter members gave me the nickname “Wiggle Butt” because all I do is wag my tail and wear a big smile, especially when I see a human walking towards me. I am so happy all the time, whether it’s playing with toys, being outside, being given my mealsI’m just one very happy girl! I can be active and play, but I am also content to sit right beside you for affection and petting. My ID number is A498537 and I’m 1-year-old, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and current on flea prevention. Visit and let me show you how great I am! ♥
◄I’m a sweet boy who came into the shelter as a stray, however no one has come looking for me or posted that I am missing. I guess this means I’m meant for you! At 5-yearsold, I’m a friendly and playful Pit Bull fellow who absolutely loves toys. There’s not a single one I won’t play with! I love to meet every person that I possibly can and I make friends with everyone. I am food motivated and enjoy my dental chews and treats. I have a scar along my right side but it does not bother me at all. I am neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and current on flea prevention. My ID # is A498096. Won’t you come and meet me soon? ♥
NEWSPAPERS NEEDED!
If you have newspaper lying around, we would love to have it. We need it continuously to line cat cages. (Black and white pages only, no colored inserts, please.) These donations can be dropped off Monday-Friday from 8am to 4pm or Saturday from 8am to Noon.
►I’m a 2-year-old Chihuahua boy on the hunt for a new family!
Hushpuppy ( A498371) is my name and I enjoy soft, cozy blankets and attention from humans. I can be a bit shy at first, but I do warm up. It might be best if there are no tiny tots in my new home, but older kids would be fine. I’m already neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Let’s meet up soon! ♥
◄Handsome, friendly and charming, that’s me! I don’t yet have a name, but I hope you’ll do the honors when you adopt me. Right now I just have an ID number and it is A497925. I’m a 3-year-old Staffordshire boy who came to the shelter as a stray. I’m happy-go-lucky, I love playing with toys, I love getting attention from people and I’m food motivated. I’m also neutered, vaccinated, current on flea prevention and microchipped. Stop by to meet me! ♥
◄I’m a 3-year-old Chihuahua boy and I’m looking for love! I adore my fuzzy fleece blanket at the shelter and will cover myself up in it. I like treats and am motivated by food. I may be a bit shy at first, but I warm up quickly and seek attention from the humans around me.
I’d most likely do best in a calm home with no small kids as loud noises tend to scare me. Do you and your household fit the bill? Come on over and ask for me, my ID number is A498351. ♥
►I’ve been at the shelter since October 2024!
▲I was born to be your very best friend! If you are looking for a dog who always wants to be by your side, I’m the one for you. I’m Phoenix (A479594) and I’m ready to be wherever you are and get involved with whatever you are doing. I am so sweet and eager to please. At 2-years-old, I am neutered, vaccinated and I played excellently with the others at doggy daycare. If you have another dog or kids at home, please bring them to the shelter for a meet and greet with me! ♥
I’m a fun and friendly girl, 2 to 3-years-old and already spayed. I’m active but also a cuddle bug with whomever stops by to say hello. I am known to toss my toys in the air, then expertly catch them. I’ll also run around with toys in my mouth, squeaking them happily. I have been to doggy daycare and did fine there, too! My ID number is A493880. Please come see what a great girl I am - you’ll be so glad you did! ♥
◄I’m Jacob (A498865) and I’m one simply fabulous boy! I arrived at the shelter with my sister Bella and she’s already been adopted. When will it be my turn? Everyone here is impressed by my happy-go-lucky, friendly, playful personality. I never meet a stranger as I’m very social and outgoing. I’m also neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and on flea prevention. I’ll be sure to make you very happy! ♥
▲Hi! I’m a gorgeous Pit mix girl named Dutchess (A497748) and I’d love to be your newest family member! I’ve been a great dog with the shelter staff, always ready to play with toys and happy to get rubs and attention. I’m spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and looking forward to a brand new life with you! ♥
◄My name is Milo and I’m an 8-month old Tabby boy who is good with children, other cats, and dogs! I love to wrestle and play with my littermates and chase toys around the room. I am litterboxtrained, up to date on my vaccines and neutered. I’m hoping March is the month that I begin a new life with my new family! Please come on over and meet me. ♥
◄My name is Piper and I’m looking for a cat lover who understands that some kitties need a little more time to get comfortable. Are you that patient, kind person I’m looking for? I’ve been at the shelter for over a year and just want to be part of a loving, quiet household. At almost 2-years-old, I’m spayed, up to date on vaccinations and litterbox-trained. Won’t you please give me a chance? I’ll be waiting. ♥
►It’s me, Nubby, and I’m ready to steal your heart away! I’m an adorable little guy, 9-months-old, and I love everything and everybody. ◄It was so much fun playing in the recent snowfall, but I wish I could have been enjoying it with you! My name is Piper and I’m a 5-year-old Boxer mix girl. I am house-trained, vaccinated, on heartworm prevention, and I once lived happily with a cat. I'm friendly with children and my shelter friends were told I’m great with other dogs, too.
I love to play, but I’d be perfect for someone who is looking for a couch companion to snuggle with . Do I sound like a good friend for you? Come on over and meet me! ♥
◄Hi! I’m a gorgeous Redbone Coonhound named Hank. I’m a fun and playful pup, just a little over 1-year-old. I was found as a stray and would thrive in an active household. I am Beau and I am a very happy and loving 3-year-old male dog. I think I am a Shepherd and Yellow Lab mix. I have lots of energy and love to play, walk, and run. I enjoy playing in the water and ocean waves. I would like a home with a fenced yard where I can get lots of exercise. I am very smart and know a few tricks, and I am a good candidate for training. I love other dogs, but I get overly excited around cats, so a home without cats might be best. Most of all, I want someone who wants to provide lots of love and companionship. I am located in Holden Beach, NC and look forward to meeting my furever parent(s). You can meet me by calling Debra Fincher at 804-814-2421 or emailing debralfincher@yahoo.com.
I am sponsored in honor of Heather Kennedy.
It’s me, Nutmeg, the ultimate chonk of love! I’m a handsome young Tabby boy who is as cuddly as I am charming, and I have a big heart to match my big paws. I’m looking for a forever home where I can lounge, snack, and soak up all the love.
I am neutered, vaccinated, litterbox-trained and current on flea and tick prevention. Are you ready to welcome a loveable loaf like me into your life? Let’s get to know each other at the New Hanover Humane Society. Adoption hours are Monday - Friday from 10am to 2pm, and you can also call 910-763-6692 with any questions.
I am sponsored by Pawville. Thank you!
◄My name is N-zo and I must admit, it's exhausting being so handsome. I'm a shy 1-year-old boy, but I am Captain Lovebug once I get to know and trust you. I love playing, eating Temptation treats, sleeping in a comfy bed, hanging with all my foster siblings, but I am not 100% a Lap Kitty just yet. I also need a big lap to even get in because I'm a big boy. I enjoy pets, head bonks, string toys, and other kitties. I would be a great companion for another cat. I would thrive in a calmer atmosphere and I will need someone with patience while I am getting comfortable with you. I have not been around dogs or young children. Because I'm shy at first, I don't attend events but please reach out to meet me in my foster home. ♥
◄Hi, my name is Silas. I'm a ‘no adoption event’ kitty just like my big brother, N-zo (pictured above). I'm a shy 1-year-old boy with a big heart. I love boxes, spring toys, and Temptation treats. My foster meowmy calls me her little roly poly. She says it's because of how I roll myself up when she picks me up. I'm still not a big fan on being in a lap but I'm getting there. I don't know how I'll do around kids and doggies but I love other kitties. My fur is soft and my purr is loud. Do you have room for a handsome boy like me? Please send a message today to meet me in my foster home. ♥
Adoption Fairs EVERY Saturday from 11am - 3pm at Pet Supplies Plus in Porters Neck (134 Hays Lane)
►Hi, my name is Amber Rose!
◄Hi, I’m Blue Eyes, a 5-year-old gorgeous Tabby, if I do say so myself. Not only am I sweet and loving, but I get along with other cats and would be ok with dogs (with enough time and patience for introductions). I enjoy exploring my foster mom’s catio and laying in the warm sun looking for birds and squirrels from a safe distance. I like batting around small toys and scratching posts. I’m on a special diet to prevent crystals and love dry, wet and my special treats! More than anything else, I want a person of my very own! ♥
►My name is Mr. Wombles, and I have cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), which means the part of my brain that controls motor skills is underdeveloped. This means I am wobbly with sudden and unsteady movements, but I can function like a normal cat otherwise, and I have a normal life expectancy and quality of life. I am the sweetest and most loving guy once I know I’m safe. I LOVE to play and cuddle in laps. I just love being petted and snuggled. It will take some time and patience while I get adjusted, but I promise I’m worth it. All I want is a family of my own who wants a loving lap cat. I use the litterbox just fine and I would be best as an only cat because my sudden movements sometimes startle other cats. But if you have a cat you think will be ok with it, let me know. I get very nervous at events, but you can meet me in my foster home where I feel comfortable. ♥
I’m a beautiful 10-month-old kitten with a big personality and an even bigger heart. I'm shy at first, but once we get to know each other, I'll follow you around, constantly wanting pets and affection. I'm very loving with my people and with other cats. And did I mention that I love dogs! I'm very curious and playful, especially with my turbo scratcher. Message us or fill out an application online to meet me! ♥
►My name is Shirley Temple and I can’t believe I still haven’t been adopted. Look at me - I’m gorgeous! I am a sassy and classy girl who is very good about making my opinion known as I am quite vocal. I am a 4-year-old curly haired princess. I always want to be around my people, getting attention, and getting cuddles and pets. I like to sleep right next to you, and my purr can be heard from across the house. I’m playful and will be a great constant companion for someone. I’m a diva, but I also do very well with other cats and would make a great companion for another cat. I am shy at first meeting, but after a few days I'll be the mayor of cuddle town. I am also FIV+ but have a normal life expectancy and quality of life and I can live with FIV- cats, as I do now. Message to meet me in my foster home because I do not attend events. ♥
My name is Autumn and I'm the funniest, silliest, shiniest, friendliest, most talkative biscuit maker you have ever seen. I am truly one in a million! I'm only about 2-years-old and everyone at FURR loves me. Stop on by our website at www.catfurr.org to see videos of me. To adopt me, text Feline Urgent Rescue and Rehab at 864-483-2444 or send an email to adoptafurrcat@gmail.com. Sponsored in loving memory of Roxy.
▲Hi, my name is Stripe! I’m a curious and playful Tabby boy who wants a home of my own. My sister is Camilla and she is also pictured on this page. We can be adopted together or separately. I am 10-months-old, neutered, up to date on vaccinations and litterbox-trained. Do you need some kitty love to make your life complete? ♥
◄Imagine this sweet face being the first thing you see each morning! My name is Sonny (AF4971) and I’m a 2-year-old mixed breed boy with a gentle personality and a loving heart. I’m a very nice size at 33 pounds - not too big and not too small! I’d be so happy to meet you here at the shelter. Hop in the car and come on over! ♥
◄I’m Camilla and I have it all - classic Tabby stripes and plenty of love to share. I can’t wait to find my forever home and get all the care and comfort every kitty deserves. At 10-months-old, I am spayed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. My brother, Stripe, is pictured at the top of the page. We could be adopted together or separately! ♥
◄I’m Toby, a handsome young fellow who is looking for a nice spot to settle and make a new BFF or two. I’ve got plenty of love to share and I get along well with other cats. As for my health, it’s great! I’m neutered, up to date on vaccines and litterboxtrained. If you’d like to cuddle up with a cuddly and affectionate friend this year (and every year ahead), please visit me today! ♥
SOAR is open to the public on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 8am to Noon.

◄Pardon me for staring, but I can’t help wondering if you’ll be headed this way soon? You see, I’d love to be part of your family! My name is Sage and I’m a 1-year-old Tabby boy. I’m a tad shy but I warm up quickly and then I’m just one big lovebug who purrs and purrs! I am neutered, vaccinated and litterboxtrained. Let’s go home together soon, ok? ♥
◄I play well with other dogs and am a total sweetheart! How on earth am I homeless? At just 8-months-old, I’m a Treeing Walker Coonhound girl named Tilly One of my most favorite things to do in the whole wide world is play fetch - in fact, that’s what I’m doing in my photo - waiting for the ball! Come on out and get to know me! ♥
We are Mallory and Batty. I am the white one and Batty is the long-haired black one. We are a sweet 1-year-old bonded pair. I need a little time to get to know you. I don't like to be picked up but I do love having my butt scratched. Who doesn't? I love cats and dogs, too. We probably need a quiet, less active home because little kids would scare me. Me and my pal, Batty, have been together since we were kittens and we'd like to stay together forever. I take all my social cues from Batty. We really are a team. You can meet us at Petsense at 100 Shallotte Crossing Parkway in Shallotte or call Sherry with Adopt-An-ANGEL at 910-523-1254. We are sponsored in honor of all the wonderful foster mommies and daddies who care for homeless animals.
My name is Mira and I'm a 4-year-old German Shepherd. I was pulled from a shelter and I'm in a wonderful foster home now. On my freedom ride, the transporter told my foster mom that she thought I had a seizure. We went straight to the vet office and I've been taking Keppra ever since. I've had a few more seizures as we got the dosage and schedule worked out, but I'm doing great now. I am a very calm, sweet girl, but I'm very aloof until I get to know you. I would do best in a calm, quiet home and I get along with all of my foster brothers and sisters. Oh, and in case you wanted to adopt me, my medicine costs $31 a month at Costco. That’s only around $1 a day. I am a little finicky and will only take my meds if it is wrapped in melted cheddar cheese or wrapped in black forest ham lunch meat. I'm much too smart for pill pockets or any other sort of trickery you might try. For more information, please call Coastal Canine Rescue at 910-470-5554 or email coastalcaninerescue@ec.rr.com. To see pictures of me and other pups looking for homes, you may also visit us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/CoastalCanineRescue.
I am sponsored by Jackie Houser of Flexner Houser Injury Law because she can’t adopt us all!
◄Hi, I am Plum! I’m a lovely 6-year-old Hound mix girl who is a bit underweight but my friends at Paws Place are working hard to get me in good shape! I love to play and snuggle, and I’m very sweet and curious about all the things around me! I’m also pretty laid-back and am ready to enjoy relaxing evenings with you in front of the TV. Won’t you visit me soon? ♥
◄Hello friends, my name is Pearl and I’m a sweet 1-year-old Hound mix girl with a heart of gold! I came to Paws Place with a not-so-sparkly tooth, but don’t worry - the amazing team here took great care of me, and now I’m good as new! Weighing in at 37 pounds, I am negative for heartworms and ready to find my forever home. I have so much love to share with you! ♥
◄I’m Halo, a beautiful Boxer mix girl! At just 2-year-old, I’ve had a rough life so far. My friends at the shelter are unsure what my past may have looked like, but I show signs of distrust, anxiety and caution. Though I’m 41 pounds of pure scaredy cat, I’ve been slowly showing off my bravery these last few months. I’m still scared of new faces but, with a little patience and reassurance, I’ve made a few friends with the staff and volunteers. I show a a lot of interest in the playpen and love my treats. Please don’t let my shy nature deter you from being interested. Instead, think of all the positive repercussions your kindness, patience, loyalty and love could bring to a dog like me. I’m unsure how to be a dog, or how to accept all the above listed, but with time and consistency I could learn to be the dog I am meant to be. I just need a little help figuring out how. I deserve to find my forever home, and I hope with a little help from you I can do just that! ♥
◄Hi there, I’m Polly! Ya know, like Polly Pocket, Polly want a cracker, Along Came Polly...well, you get it! I came to Paws Place after living at a county shelter for a month…from stray to passenger princess! I am such a loveable and sweet Pit Bull mix girl and I’m ready to give all of my love to my new family! I’m heartworm negative and ready to go, so please come over and meet me today! ♥
◄Hi, I’m Monkey! I’m a 10-week-old puppy girl who is growing more every day. I’m one of six sisters, but I have the most unique color: brown and white with a touch of black to make me extra special. I love to play, run around, and get all the belly rubs. My tail never stops wagging, especially when I’m with my sisters and humans. I’m full of energy, curiosity, and so much love to give! I’m growing cuter every dayadopt me and you’ll see! ♥
◄I’m Jethro - your friendly, 65-pound, 7-year-old canine PI-in-training. I might be a little shy at first, but don't let that fool you - I’ve got a heart of gold and a knack for figuring out who my people are. I am working on building my confidence, one paw at a time. With a bit of patience, love, and a few extra treats, I’m ready to be the brave companion you've been looking for. I already know “sit” and “shake” and am heartworm negative, too! All I need is for you to come meet me and fall in love. I’ll be your loyal sidekick. ♥
Pender County Humane Society, a 501(c)3 no-kill animal shelter in Burgaw, is launching a new foster program and we need your help!
Fostering can be hard at times, but the reward of watching a neglected, abandoned or abused dog or cat blossom into their own and find their forever family is the most rewarding experience you’ll ever have. By opening up a kennel for another animal, you will be saving a life.
PCHS will provide everything you need for a successful fostering experience, including crates, dog and cat gear, food, treats and toys. We pay for all necessary vetting.
If we have feline and canine pals needing a temporary place to crash, could it be with you? If you’re interested or just have questions, email penderhumane@yahoo.com.
◄I’m beautiful Lacy, a mediumhaired silver/gray/ blue 8-month-old kitten. I’m a gentle and laidback girl with the spunkiest personality. My favorite pastime is snuggling up for a nap and my second favorite pastime is chasing my siblings up and down the cat tree. I love chasing my fluffy tail, too! I am bonded with my sister Lydia (pictured below) and it’s believed that together we’ll grow up to be the most gorgeous cats. To meet us, please call or text 910-599-2755. ♥
►Hi there, I’m lovely Lydia, the softest 8-month-old silver/gray sweetheart. I’m laid-back and gentle. Like my sister Lacy, pictured above, I love to be held and cradled like the baby I am. After a good nap I’m ready to rumble with my brother Liam, also pictured on this page. We kittens are happiest in pairs where we learn together, keep each other company and out of trouble. My friends think Lacy and I would make an excellent pair! To meet me or my siblings, please call 910-599-2755 and let’s arrange a get-together! ♥
◄I’m Oliver, a 4-year-old black and white boy who was adopted as a kitten but then returned because work circumstances changed for my adopter. I’ve been in foster care now for a whole year and I’m starting to lose hope that I’ll ever find another BFF! I am a laid -back, super affectionate cat who loves to be near my human as much as possible. I enjoy being petted, too. I was an only cat but I get along well with the other cats in my foster home. Please, won’t you meet me and give me a second chance? Just text or call 910-599-2755. ♥
◄My name is Lucy and I’m an 8-month-old silver/ gray girl who is laid-back, gentle and I love to be held. My favorite game is playing fuzz ball with my brother Liam, who is pictured below. We youngsters are happiest in pairs where we explore the world together, always have a fluffy pillow and learn faster from each other. Everyone thinks
Liam and I are the absolute cutest pair! Please meet us in person by texting or calling 910-599-2755. ♥
◄I’m adorable 8-month-old Liam, the only boy and the only black/white kitten of my litter, and I’m ready to find my forever family! I’m a happy little fellow who was rescued from a crawl space with my mom and sisters. I have the sweetest personality with a splash of rambunctiousness to balance out my little motor that never stops purring. And did I mention my tiny pink nose with matching toes? I’m the cutest! Call or text 910-599-2755 and let’s arrange a visit. ♥
►I’m Sharon, a beautiful mediumhaired black and gray Tabby kitten, just 9-months-old. I was rescued from the side of the road by a Good Samaritan. I’m a lucky girl and I return the love I receive with loud purrs. Although little, I’m bold, fearless and a very social girl who loves to play with other kittens. If nobody is around to play with me, I’m just fine on my own and will entertain myself with toys. I’m just the perfect kitten! To meet me, please call or text CAT at 910-599-2755. ♥

I get along great with other cats and I have an amazing sister if you want to adopt a duo! I am only a teensy shy, but not for very long after I meet you. I'm an easy keeper, I eat good, I use my litterbox like a champ and I love treats. Please come visit me soon! I’m already spayed and vaccinated. Someone very lucky will get to take me home! To adopt, please text Feline Urgent Rescue and Rehab at 864-483-2444 or send an email to adoptafurrcat@gmail.com.

BLUE MARLIN & BLUE FISH
We’re gorgeous Russian Blue mixes named Blue Marlin and Blue Fish. We are brothers and best buddies. You won't find more beautiful, softer or sweeter felines than us! We are young adults who look like fuzzy bears. You just have to come meet us to see how special we really are. Your home would be blessed by having us join your family! Please hurry up and text Terry to set up a meet and greet. You WILL love us!!!

BUMBLE BEE
My name is Bumble Bee and FURR rescued me from a bad situation. My big, bright eyes look just like a bee and my colors do, too. I am no bigger than a football and I have quite a silly and sassy personality. After I get to know you, I will follow you around while meowing and sticking my tail straight up in the air. I'm 1 to 2-years-old, I’m spayed and vaccinated, and I love belly rubs. They tell me that I've probably had a litter of kittens in the past. I wonder what happened to them? All I need is a little patience and love to become your little friend. Please come visit me soon. I would probably prefer no dogs (they stink), loud children (they also smell), or other cats (they'll steal your attention). Just call me "Bee" for short. Stop on by our website at www.catfurr.org to see videos of me.
Small Dog Alert! My name is Lola and I’m an extra-sweet and cuddly 10-year-old girl, just 24 pounds. I was surrendered to the county shelter by my family because they could no longer take care of me. Pender County Humane Society saw me there and just had to take me back with them! I am house-trained, leash-trained, friendly to all people and very affectionate. I would thrive best as the only dog in the household, but I get along well with cats. I am spayed, vaccinated and heartworm negative, yay! Please call Pender County Humane Society at 910-259-7022 and tell them you’re interested in meeting me. We can set up a day and time and see if we’re meant to be!
I am sponsored in loving memory of Milo, Rocco and Don Johnson, who are loved and missed every day!!!
I’m Doughnut, the prettiest petite white girl with black spots, ears and nose. You’d never know I’m 11-years-old! I was found roaming outside but the people listed on my microchip have not responded to repeated calls and texts. I’m a bit sad but making the best of it, and l’m loving all of the attention in my foster home where I know I’m safe. I’m such a gentle-natured, sweet girl and I love the company of humans. I deserve the best in life, and older cats like me are so appreciative of a second chance. Please call or text Cat Adoption Team at 910-599-2755 and let’s set up a day to meet! You can also send an email to catilm@earthlink.net or message my pals on Facebook @CatAdoptionTeamNC.
I am sponsored by Greenwood Pet Camp in memory of Duke.

HUSKY HALFWAY HOUSE FOUNDATION
FREEDOM GERMAN SHEPHERD RESCUE
Hi, I am Autumn. I don’t remember much about how I ended up on the euthanasia list, but I do remember the day Annabelle picked me. Jenni gave her and Melissa a list of huskies to save, and Annabelle chose me. I didn’t know what was going to happen, but when I got here, I felt safe. And now? Now, I’m just waiting for my forever family. I’m 5-years-old, a total love bug, and a pretty chill girl. I love belly rubs, chewing on my stuffed bone, and just hanging out with my people. I get along great with dogs my size, but the little ones? Not really my thing. Most of the time, I’m laid-back and easy-going, but don’t let that fool you - I still get my zoomies every now and then. Gotta keep everyone on their toes! I’ve been given a second chance, and now all I need is you. If you think I might be your girl, please apply today. I promise, I’ll be your gentle giant for life. My team transports all over the U.S., so my new home could be anywhere (except Hawaii or Alaska). Please visit us online at www.huskyhalfwayhouse.org/adopt and fill out an adoption application. For more info, text 918-618-7070 or send an email to huskyhalfwayhouse@gmail.com. ♥
CAROLINA BASSET HOUND RESCUE
Are you looking for a pair of All-Stars to join your home team? I’m Fenway and I’m bonded with Wrigley. We are more Beagle than Basset, but CBHR took us in because we are so darn cute. We might be named after ballparks in two very different cities, but we are a matched set if there ever was one. Where Wrigley goes, I follow and vice versa. We are great snuggle buddies and perfect pups for a family who enjoys lots of activities. We love to play with toys and our favorite game is watching our foster people pick up and put away all our toys (so we can pull them back out again). We are house-trained and like to ride in the car. We get along great with everyone we’ve met so far. Our fosters haven’t observed us around kiddos, but they feel we would do well with them. Our foster parents take us and our canine foster brothers to doggie daycare, and we love it! We come home exhausted after romping and playing with the many friends we’ve made there. If you are looking for a fine pair of Hounds, you will have won the World Series with us! We are the sweetest! If you’d like to adopt us or a homeless Basset, please call 888-909-2387 or visit us online at www.cbhr.com. ♥
Hello world, I’m Ziggy! A gorgeous 2-year-old, 63 pound boy with so much love to give. My foster family says I’m so sweet and loving to every single person I meet. As much as I love my people, I will need proper introductions when meeting other dogs. I also have some funny quirks that include howling at sirens that go by and my absolute passion for chewing on bones for hours. I’m a great listener and well on my way to having great recall. After a solid walk or run or some playtime outside, I’m ready to settle down and snooze. I’m quite good on leash already and have shown great progress on not pulling while walking. Traveling with me is a breeze because I’m a pro at car rides and settle down comfortably in the backseat. I’m crate-trained and would do best with someone with a privacy fence or a fenced yard. I would do well with someone who establishes clear and consistent boundaries. However, my willingness to please and eagerness to learn make me a joy to train. All in all, I’m a great example of everything there is to love about German Shepherds: attentive, loving, protective, and smart. The ultimate sidekick. To adopt a loyal companion, complete an application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org and an adoption coordinator will be assigned to you. Please call 919-670-5905 or email info@freedomgsrescue.org for additional info. I am being fostered in Jacksonville, NC. ♥
My name is Gracie but my foster mom calls me Gracie Lou Who or Lil' Mama. I'm a 48 pound, 5-year-old German Shepherd mix looking for my forever home. I am house-trained and crate-trained and love to snuggle. At bed time, I sleep on the bed with my foster mom and would love a forever home where I could continue to do so. I love to be petted and will lay on top of you and put my face in yours when you stop. Because my favorite place to be is with my people, I do not require a fenced in yard. While I love to play with my fur foster brother, I prefer to be the only female dog in the house. I ignore female dogs in social settings but would prefer that they not try to interact with me. I like children but think I would do best in a home with older ones because I might knock littles over. I am very food and treat motivated and will be best friends with anyone who feeds me. All of my foster mom's friends say that I'm just so sweet. If you are interested in being my lifelong cuddle buddy, complete an application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org and an adoption coordinator will be assigned to you. I am being fostered near Fayetteville. For more info, call 919-670-5905 or send an email to info@freedomgsrescue.org. ♥
Hi, I am Max! I went from being the longest resident at the county shelter to being the newest here at Paws Place! Which is wild because I am known to be a super-smart, laid-back, playful, loveable guy! At 56 pounds, I’m a Catahoula Leopard mix who knows basic commands such as sit, shake and down! I love to play, and since I’m a young guy at just 2-years-old, I guess that comes as no surprise! No worries, after some ball throwing and play time, I am ready to chill with you. Overall, I’m just a happy-go-lucky fellow and I’m ready to be a real dog with a real family. Because, I mean, let’s face it, I am a little over this homeless shelter dog act, you know? Won’t you please come visit me at Paws Place? It’s open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 2pm and there is no appointment necessary. Please call 910-845-7297 or email info@pawsplace.org with any questions.
I am sponsored by Mr. Peanut and Ginger Snap. Thank you!
My name is Ink but I like Drako better. I'm 1-year-old and already have had some disappointments in life. First, I was picked up as a stray and my people didn't come get me. The shelter made me very nervous and sad, but I got adopted! I was sooooo happy to have my very own family again. But then, I guess I liked to wiggle butt too much and play with their little human, so they brought me back. I was a really good boy, but just a little too much for their little one and kept knocking her over. I didn't mean to - I was just playing. So I was back to not having a family again. No other adopters were interested in me and I ran out of time. Even though I didn't do anything bad, there just wasn't any more space. Luckily, FBAR sprung me out! They brought me to a cool foster home and I’m just lovin' life. I do like to play hard but I also like to nap hard. Pretty good balance, I think. My doggy doctor said I was good to go. I have no wormy things in my heart, got a microchip, got neutered and got all my shots. So now, I'm just waiting for my forever people. I love to do zoomies so a fence would be super cool. I am learning manners and I really want to be a good boy so I will try very hard. I wouldn't mind a furry sister but I'm cool to be an only pup. Please call Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue NC at 843-614-0231 or send an email to freedombridgeanimalrescuenc@gmail.com.
I am sponsored by Robyn Davis in loving memory of Lou.
Hi there, I’m Jules! At 10-weeks-old, I’m a sparkling little gem of a puppy, and I’m growing fast just like my 11 siblings. Along with our mom, Autumn, we’re all eagerly searching for our forever homes! I’m a playful and loving Retriever mix girl, and I’m ready to shine in your life with all the love and joy I can offer. If you’re looking for a dazzling companion, I’m your precious jewel! Come meet me at Paws Place - I’ll be sure to make your heart sparkle! The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 2pm and there is no appointment necessary. Please call 910-845-7297 or email info@pawsplace.org with any questions.
I am sponsored by The Tree House Gang at Saltscapes Landscaping. Thank you!
◄My name is Beau and a nice person found me wandering on the streets. She tried to find my owners, but no one came for me. Now I have peeps helping me find my new forever home! I am a youngin' at about 1-year of age. I LOVE to play so a furry sister would be awesome! I need a little space to do my zoomies and play, so a fence is really important. I love everyone and just want someone to love me back. I am heartworm negative but I need to gain a little weight. You can foster me until I have my neuter surgery and then we can finalize my adoption. Right now, I'm hangin' with my three foster siblings and my foster Papa. I sure do love them but can't wait to find my very own home. Maybe that's you? ♥
◄Hi! My name is Bolt and it's because I used to bolt from my situation as it wasn't very nice. I'm a little guy and still really scared. My foster mama is helping me trust humans again and I'm slowly learning that you two-legged people are ok. I went to the doggy doctor and I'm really healthy. Then I went to another doggy doctor and got something called neutered. I like hanging with my furry foster sister, Yala. She's pretty cool. I'm looking for my furever home BUT I need peeps who will let me find my own way and not push me too much (‘cuz then I get really scared and hide). Another furry sibling would be awesome but it's ok if you don't have one. I won't come running to you wagging my tail and giving licks, but if you are patient with me, I'll be your bestest friend! ♥
►My name is Cricket. I was STARVING when I first came to rescue. After receiving plenty of TLC and trips to the dogtor, I am ready to find a family who will keep helping me be my very best self. I have all my vaccinations, I tested negative for heartworms, and I’ve been spayed and microchipped. I would love a home with a fenced yard and a fur brother who likes to play like me! I might knock over small children by accident so a home with older kids would be better. Let my people know if you would like to meet me! ♥
►My name is Bert and me and my brothers were wandering around and then got picked up and put in a very noisy shelter. We were all so very scared and then we heard people talking that it was "our time". We didn't know what that meant, but it wasn't good. My brothers got some help and that left me all alone. So I was super scared until these cool peeps came and got me out! I'm with my foster parents now and even though I am still scared, I am getting better and I really love them. I do have those heartwormy things BUT the people helping me said not to worry - they were going to pay for everything for me to get better! Right now, I'm learning to be a good boy and not be so scared. I'm still pretty young, but the world hasn't been very good to me so far. I am beginning to understand that even though the world can be scary, I am going to be ok. If you're looking for a best friend, I hope it's ME! ♥
►Hi! My name's Oreo (aka Charlie). I'm a little guy but have a big personality - well, once you know the real me. You see, I'm pretty nervous but my foster Mama is helping me not be so nervous. She told me I'm safe now and I don't need to worry anymore. I kinda believe her more and more every day. She told me I am going to get the bestest forever home and NEVER have to be scared again! I can't wait to feel that. If you can be patient with me, I PROMISE to be your very bestest friend! ♥
◄My name is Maddie and I'm 2-years-old. I was wandering around downtown Wilmington when this really nice person found me. She tried to reunite me with my humans, but they didn’t want me back. How sad is that? Now I’m on a mission to find the bestest home ever where I will always be wanted. My foster parents tell me all the time how sweet I am. I love their little humans, too! I like to play, so a home with a fenced yard that I can run around in would be awesome! I sometimes go to a place where I can play with other furry friends for a day and I LOVE it! I am spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. So, here I am, just hangin' out waiting for my family! Will it be you? ♥
I’m Cosmo, a chill and snuggly dude who fits in well with my roommate cats. I am friendly and playful and ready for my next adventure. At just 11-months-old, I’m yearning to love and be loved. My purr machine is going all the time and I just adore being with people. I am litterboxtrained, neutered, and vaccinated, too! Please come meet me soon at Southport Oak Island Animal Rescue (SOAR). Adoption hours are from 8am to Noon on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (closed on Thursday and Sunday). If you have any questions, please call my friends at 910-457-6340.
I am sponsored by SOAR in loving memory of all their wonderful, furry friends who made it safely to the Rainbow Bridge.
Hey there, I am Missy! I'm your new favorite, loveable, energetic, sometimes a little anxious, Pointer mix girl! At 3-years-young and about 38 pounds, I’m ready for my second chance at life. You may notice my tail looks a little rough as I do have a small case of the ‘Happy Tail’ but, do not worry, I am in my healing era and will be good as new soon! In the meantime, I will be impatiently waiting for my new forever family to come visit, fall in love with me and live happily ever after! You’ll find me at Paws Place and no appointment is necessary. Just come on over during the shelter’s visiting hours which are 10am to 2pm on Tuesday through Saturday. Please call 910-845-7297 or email info@pawsplace.org with any questions.
I am sponsored by Pawville. Thank you!

◄I’m Rico (AF5492) and I’m a charming individual with my attenna ears...the better to listen for all the fun! I’m an easy-going, happy Pit mix boy who likes to be included in the family adventures. At 2-years-old, I’m young enough to learn quickly, and mature enough to relax when it’s time to chill. I hope you’ll agree with me that I’m a great find! ♥
◄Hello there! I’d like to introduce myself, I’m Millie (AF6101), a 1-year-old tan and white Pitbull girl who is friendly, smart, playful and social. I sit nicely for photos (as you can see here) and I also walk well on a leash. Just think of the fun we’ll have once you’ve adopted me and taken me home! Hurry on over today. ♥
►Hey there, it’s me, Roxie (AF5821), and I am one of the shelter’s “package” dogs, as in...I’m the whole package! I’m young (about 6-months), adorable with super markings, happy, smart, spayed and up to date on my vaccinations! Yep, the whole package! Please stop by the doggie dorm to spend some time with me. If you’re lucky, you’ll leave with a new best friend! ♥
◄I’m a beautiful Tabby girl named Dew (AF6033) and I’d love to be part of your family! I am just 7-months-old and already spayed and up to date on all my vaccinations. I’d love to see your face at my door. The volunteers can tell you all about me and you can get to know me as well! ♥

Small Dog Alert!
I’m a darling Chihuahua mix and I’ve stolen many hearts here at the shelter. It’s quite a mystery how an adorable and friendly girl like me is homeless! At just 3-years of age, I was found as a stray and no one has come looking for me. The staff say I have been “one amazing little girl” with all the people I’ve met. I love receiving attention and I love the fluffy bed they’ve given me. My ID number is A498509 and I am spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and on flea prevention. Won’t you come see how precious I am in person? Bring along any children or dogs you may have as well. I’d love to meet all of you! You’ll find me at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more information, call 910-798-7500.
I am sponsored by the Hufstedler family in loving memory of their past loved fur babies: Ella, Rex, Misty, Buddy, Dottie and Houston.
Hi, my name is Clover. Me and my sisters were found on the side of the road when we were just babies! We don't know where our Mama went, but we were cold, hungry and only had each other, until someone came and took us to a municipal shelter. We were so scared and all huddled up. Luckily, Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue NC was able to take us into their foster program. All my sisters found their forever homes but I don't know why no one wants me. I really want my very own forever home, just like my sisters. I try really hard to be a good girl. I'm only a youngin' who is about 5-months-old and I just want a best friend to call my own. I like other furry friends (well, if they don't try to eat my food because, you know, I was starving). I love to play and I love to cuddle. Doesn't get much better than that right? My foster family is helping me with that leash thing, too. I got all my doggy shots, and my doggy doctor said I was good to go! I will soon be spayed and microchipped, but my peeps helping me said that I got this, and I believe them. So, if you want to meet me and I hope you do, let my peeps helping me know. Paws crossed! Call Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue NC at 843-614-0231 or send an email to freedombridgeanimalrescuenc@gmail.com.
I am sponsored by Pawville. Thank you!
►I’m a 5-month-old orange Tabby and my name is Bryce. My siblings and I rode up here to North Carolina from Georgia in a trailer. The man didn’t know we were in there until he opened the trailer to get his work stuff and then he called Cat Tails for help. I don’t remember much about the ride – it was a long time ago! All of my littermates have been adopted so I think it’s my turn to get a home. If you have one I can share, come ask for me. ♥
►One day a woman brought me to Cat Tails. She told them I was a boy and my name was Jimmy. They told the woman that the name was fine, but I am a girl! So now, I’m a girl named Jimmi, a 1½-year-old gray Tabby. You can usually find me at the window to your left as you come in. I greet everyone! I’ve become very friendly if you remember my one rule: don’t pick me up! I like to jump up on things, but I’ll do it on my own. ♥
◄My name is Rocky and I’m a 9-month-old Tabby and white boy. I was found when I was only 10-days old and bottle-raised until I could take care of myself. My name sounds tough but I’m really a sweetheart. I’m very playful and I love all of my toys. I can usually be found carrying a ball around because I always like to be ready for my favorite game: fetch. I know it’s supposed to be a dog game, but I love it. ♥
◄Please come get me! Please! Last week I would have said save me from my roommate, but this week is different. You need to save me from the construction going on here. There is too much noise. And you wouldn’t believe the dust! We all keep moving from one room to another to stay away from the construction, but we still hear it! My name is Karl and I’m a 6-month-old male Tabby looking for a quiet place to hide out. Could you give me a home? ♥
◄Who doesn’t love a big orange cat?! I’m a big orange cat! My name is Rory and I’m approximately 13-months-old. As a bonus, I’m a long-haired cat! I look like I might be part Maine Coon or Norwegian forest cat. Although I’m beautiful, I am very shy. I stay in a foster home, but I might be better in a home where I am the only cat and get all the love. Do you have a cat-free home where I could try being an only cat? ♥
◄My name is Betty Sue I’m a 14-week-old Tabby girl. Ever since I was found by people, I have been warm and dry. I have soft blankets to sleep on. I have lots of good food and fresh water. I have been held and cuddled. I have lots of fun toys to play with. I think I like being with people. In fact, I’m looking for a forever home with people who are as nice as everyone I’ve met so far. I just wish they had found me before all of that snow! ♥
◄HUSBAND ALERT! I have long believed that we could solve pet overpopulation if it weren't for husbands often being the voice of reason and saying NO at the point of adoption. If it were up to wives, lots and lots of kitties would find themselves in multi-cat households. Well guys, I am here for you! If you and your wife adopt me, you will have a 10 to 12-year reason to NEVER have to adopt another cat or dog. Next time the love of your life is holding an adorable kitten looking at you pleading to adopt, you can just blame it on ME. Your answer is simply, "No, honey we can't, Milly would never approve." How perfect is that? I'm a playful, feisty 2-year-old with Catitude and I'd prefer to be an 'only' pet. I'm not crazy about kids either. My name is Milly (aka Milly Vanilly). Meet me at Petco (324 S. College Road near Market Street) or text Melinda at 910-471-6909. ♥
►They say my name is Sherman but I prefer to be called Big Boy. I was an indoor cat until my owner moved and left me outside. I'm a sweet 2-year-old. I get along well with other cats, dogs, and kids and I love a good chin rub. I really am the perfect cat! Meet me at Petco at 324 S. College Road near Market Street or text Melinda at 910-471-6909. ♥
▲Identical Twins! I am Karma. I was rescued from an abandoned building along with my brother, Quiver. We are a bonded 6-month-old pair of beautiful classic Tabbies. We're shy at first and will need a patient home to help us feel safe. We get along well with other cats but dogs and small kids are not our favorites. Meet us at Petsense at 1215 West Gate Drive in Leland or call Sherry at 910-523-1254 to adopt. ♥
►I’m Jingles! My foster mom says that I brim with happiness. I love to meet people and I am very friendly and affectionate. I do great with other dogs. I am mid-sized at about 45 pounds and I walk well on a leash. Please come meet me at Petco on Saturdays from 11:30am to 3:30pm or call Jill for more info at 910-620-3783. ♥
◄Hello, my name is Finn! I am a Treeing Walker Coonhound, and am on the bigger side for Hounds. I am about 8-years-old, but don’t let my age scare you off, I am spunky and love a good walk! My friends would say I am sweet, chill, and a hugger. I am surprisingly quiet, but would probably be best not in an apartment because I may become more vocal as I settle into my furever home. I am great with adults and older children, 14-years and older, but prefer to have a child-free home. Like many dogs my age, I am dog selective, but do like certain dogs. I prefer a more laid-back dog who will not try to jump on me instead of a younger puppy-like dog. I also have a high prey drive so I am not good with smaller dogs or cats. I am a hunting dog after all! I am crate-trained and am quiet and calm in my crate. I am also working on learning other manners and tricks! Please come meet me at Petco in Wilmington on Saturdays from 11am to 3pm or reach out to Jill at 910-620-3783. ♥
LENA & LACEY ARE LOVELY LADIES!
◄We are a bonded mother and daughter pair who are delighted to be in a comfy indoor foster home after some hard times. We are drop dead gorgeous, we are well-mannered with other cats and we’re hardly any bother. However, we are still incredibly shy. My name is Lena and I can be petted if food is on offer. My daughter, Lacey, will still skitter away from petting. Our foster mom is facing a health battle and is asking for a patient foster to finish our journey or better yet for an understanding forever adopter. I am about 4-years-old and Lacey is nearly 2-years-old. If you're the right person to help us lovely ladies and want more info or to meet us, please text Sarah at 910-200-6890. ♥

Hello, future bestie! My name is Yeager and I just have one question for youdo you need more love, silliness, good vibes, and cuddles in your life? Well you’re in luck, because I’m the bestest good boy and I’m available for adoption! My foster mommy says I’m a happy-go-lucky, tail-wagging, fun-loving kind of pal who adores people, plays great with other dogs (actually, I totally ADORE my doggie pals), and has a talent for making everyone smile. My favorite activities include playing with stuffies, hanging with my doggy pals, eating yummy treats, and soaking up all the belly rubs, snuggles, and love from my family. Although I love my foster mommy and my foster siblings, I’m currently looking for a forever family to call my own, preferably one with at least one other doggie to be BFFs with. If you think we’d be the perfect match, visit The Unforgotten Souls online at www.theunforgottensouls.com and click on ‘Adopt’ or email theunforgottensouls@gmail.com to get the process started. My name is Nimbus (AF5296) and I’m a 4-year-old Hound boy with a heart as big as the sky and a personality as bright as a sunny day! I’m the perfect mix of playful and affectionate - whether I’m romping around with my doggy friends or snuggling up after a day of adventure, I’m always ready to make you smile. My bubby personality and love for exploring make me the ideal sidekick for hikes, road trips, and lazy Sunday strolls. If you’ve been searching for a loyal best friend who will adore you unconditionally, look no further! My adoption fee includes neuter surgery, a physical examination, heartworm test and rabies vaccination. You’ll find me at Brunswick Sheriff’s Animal Protective Services. Adoption hours are 10am to 5pm Monday - Friday and 10am to 2pm on Saturday. If you have any questions, please call 910-253-1738.

Thundering Paws Pet Adoption
►Hi, potential adopters!
I’m Tovie, the smallest 4-month-old girl in my litter. I love to play with and chase toys and other kitties. I was very sick when I was rescued and almost did not make it. I am super happy that I’m now strong and healthy after many vet visits. ♥
◄I’m the cutie pie, female tuxedo kitten named Socks. I’m a little shy with strangers but I’m affectionate when we become friends. My littermates and I were in freezing temps, starving and alone, when we were rescued. We were very sick and had to go to the vets many times to become well. We are now healthy, happy kittens thankful for the help. ♥
►Hello, I’m a handsome 4-month-old boy named Barron. I was rescued when it was freezing outdoors and I was very hungry and sick (along with my siblings). A kind rescuer brought us inside and took us to the kitty doctor until we became healthy. Now I’m the most cuddly, affectionate boy. ♥
◄Hi, Tabby Lovers! My name is Athena and I’m a 1-year-old girl who is super friendly. In fact, I am THE friendliest girl who loves to give head bumps and kisses. I enjoy hanging out with humans and relaxing together. I’m spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and tested negative for Feline Leukemia/FIV so I’m ready for my furever home. ♥
▲I’m Clyde and I’ve been looking for my furever home for a long time. People misunderstand my shyness and think I’m unfriendly. When I get to know you, I love pets, belly rubs and purr super loud. I have already been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and tested FIV/FeLV negative. I’m ready to bring lots of fun and joy to my forever home! ♥
▲I’m a medium-haired girl named Precious. I’m spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and tested negative for Feline Leukemia/FIV. I’m a diva who loves to get all the human attention. I like to give kisses and be petted. It would be great to find my forever home so I can live as an only kitty! ♥
►My name is Barbie and I’m the only one in my litter who has not found my forever family! I get along with young children, cats and dogs. I’m very smart and know what’s going on around me. I’m sweet, cuddly, playful and a super cute companion. Will you adopt me? ♥
Howdy! My name is Petey and I am a 14-year-old Bassedor (Basset Hound and Labrador Retriever). I need some extra love and care that my elderly mom could not provide. I am working on putting on some weight and loving every bite! I get along with other dogs but should be fed separately because I am so food motivated. I am very energetic for being an old man so don't let my age fool you! I love to be by your side getting lots of pets and attention. I am also pretty healthy for my age and have more life to live! I would probably do best in a home with children over 12 and someone who is home often to let me out to potty. An older guy like me just can't hold it like I used to. Can you relate? Please consider me even if I am older, we seniors really are the best! If you are interested in hearing more, please fill out an application at www.rescueconnectnc.com or call RescueConnect at 910-302-7290.
I am sponsored in loving memory of Nolan, a compassionate dog lover.
Meow! My name is Boots (short-hair) and my brother is Remi (long-hair) and we live in Wilmington, NC. We are 8-month-old male tuxedo kittens ready for adoption. We are somewhat shy but definitely bonded and love to play with toys and with each other. We are very healthy, sweet, curious and adorable. We have received updated immunizations, been neutered, dewormed, and had flea treatments. We would really prefer to be placed together in a forever home so we can have an easier transition in our new environment. Small children make us nervous but we are ok with a friendly dog. If possible, we would like to be the only felines in the home. Our foster parents can be contacted if you have any questions. Please call Diane at 606-923-4639 and Shelley at 606-232-1192. For info, updates and upcoming adoption events, visit us online at www.facebook.com/adoptanangelnc.
We are sponsored in loving memory of Jane “Button” Honeycutt Spencer.
►Just look at this kissable face...and my heart melting eyes! How can it be that I’ve been waiting for a family since early December? I’m a very sweet Pit Bull boy, just 3-years-old. I’m positive for heartworms, but it’s easily treated and I’ll spend the rest of my life thanking you. My ID number is A059153.♥
◄I used to have a loving home, but I was brought to the shelter due to a divorce. I sure do hope another loving family will give me a second chance at a happy life. My name is Luna Belle (A059347) and I’m a very sweet girl with a happy and friendly personality. I am 5-years-old, spayed, vaccinated and heartworm negative. All I need now is for you to show up! ♥
◄I’m a lovely and sweet girl named Zoe (A059252) and I can’t understand why I’m living at a shelter instead of inside a comfy home with loving people. I’ve been waiting for someone to arrive since early January but I hope I don’t have to wait too much longer. You can see what a nice girl I am from my photo, can’t you? I’m 2-years-old and ready to be your new best friend! ♥
►I’m a quiet and sweet Pit Bull mix boy who really just wants to be out of the shelter and inside a cozy home with loving folks. I was found as a stray but no one ever claimed me. I am just 2-years-old, already neutered and negative for heartworms. My ID number is A059388 but I look forward to the day you tell me what my new name is. You’ll think of a good one! ♥
◄My name is Asher (A059183) and I’m looking for a best friend! Did you know my name is Hebrew for “happy one”? I was given this name by the shelter manager’s son when he and I played together in the recent snowfall. I love to play so a family with an active lifestyle would be perfect! I am just 1-year-old, up to date on vaccines, neutered and negative for heartworms. Come on over and meet me! ♥
OVERCROWDED AND NEAR
◄I’m one of those rare female Orange Tabbies and my hair is mediumlength. I’m beautiful now, but I’m sure to blossom into an even more beautiful girl with good food and all the love my new family will provide. My ID number is A059562 and the shelter staff think I am about 2-years-old. I sure would love to meet you, so please hurry on over and let’s get acquainted. ♥
DB PLUMBING, INC.
Greetings and salutations! My name is Morgana the Magical. Though I look like a gorgeous tuxedo cat, I am really a mystical princess fur purrson who can send you many slow blink eye kisses. I love to be with people and shower them with my love and sweet kisses. I am 4-years-old, vaccinated, microchipped, litterbox-trained, spayed and negative for FIV and FeLV. I enjoy the company of other cats but would do fine as a single cat. Won’t you let me share your castle with you? Please call Sharon from The Ruffian Foundation at 910-262-8890 so that we can set up a day and time to meet.
I am sponsored by Tony and Peggy Durso. Thank you!
My name is Ferrari. I’m 8-years-old and was found outside. I’m a little shy and slow to trust because I’ve had a rough go of it lately. I was neglected and abused. When I came to All 4 Cats, I needed a full mouth extraction, so I have no teeth. I also suffered an injury where my collar was embedded in my underarm because I was on my own and got so scared and tried to get out of it. Thankfully, I am all better now and ready for a new family. Once I know I can trust you, I am a Lap Cat who just wants cuddles. I’m extremely sweet and I promise your patience will be worth it. Can you show me how to be part of a family again? I get scared at adoption events, so please message us to schedule a meeting in my foster home. Adoptions by appointment. Please call / text All 4 Cats at 910-707-4372 or email info@all4cats.org for more info. You may also visit www.all4cats.org.
I am sponsored by Danny and Lisa Merritt in memory of all their fur babies waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.

STILL NEEDS HELPERS: It’s Playtime at FURR’s Kitty Happy Hour
Every morning and afternoon (flexible), you are invited to come enjoy some playtime with the kitties at Feline Urgent Rescue and Rehab (FURR) at its Hampstead location. Just a few hours once or twice a week can help newly rescued felines see life differently. Helping them learn to trust, love and get ready for adoption not only mends their hearts but yours, too! Volunteers must be 18-years or older, have a car, love cats, be reference checked and dependable! Think about the reward you will get knowing you are helping these amazing rescues find a "furrever" home! Please send a text to 864-483-2444 for information.
Enjoy Driving? Transport a Furry Friend!
RescueConnect is looking for transporters! Animals in their care need rides for a variety of reasons: to pick an animal up from a shelter where they have been pulled, to take them from foster homes to vet appointments, and to take them to partner groups for adoption. All you need is a secure vehicle and a desire to help! Drivers are needed that can help with both local transport and longer trips. If you’d like to volunteer, visit www.rescueconnectnc.com, put your cursor over ‘Volunteer’ and then click on ‘Transport’. You can also call 910-302-7290 for more information.

We would be honored to award your home with love and joy!
We are so amazing, we’re really friendly and we’ve become Official Door Greeters here at FURR.
We can provide you with tons of fun every day. We enjoy play time and with lots of room to run all over the house, we will entertain you. We are silly siblings who love life. At 1½-years of age, we will be the best kitties you've ever had for many years to come. We love new challenges, chasing toys, playing with kids and talking all about it. We are fully vetted, microchipped and ready to go. Why don't you come play with us and see what we have to offer. Check out videos of us at www.catfurr.org.
►I'm going to start off saying - my name is Grace and I have a problem. The problem is that I am not allowed to live in a lot of places. Why? Because I am so majestic! Seriously, I am a Malamute/ Husky/Grey Wolf mix. I need a place that I can hang out and not get in trouble for being there. My foster mom and I have a great relationship. I'm a real sweetie and I love kids. I am current on my vaccinations, spayed, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I've been in rescue going on 3-years! Don’t get me wrong, I love my foster mama so much but I need to have a family of my own. I prefer a home with kids because I love when they lay down with me on the floor and watch TV. I don't care to hang out with other dogs and I certainly don't like cats. But, if you really want me to ‘grace’ you with my presence (see what I did there), we need to make sure I'm allowed in your county and that you are familiar with my breed. So, who's ready for a big girl like me? If you’re interested in meeting me, please contact my foster mom and she will find out if I am allowed to live in your county. Please contact my foster mom by emailing roseysweezers7@aol.com. ♥
◄BOOP, my name is Hope! I am a sweet, rambunctious girl who loves treats and toys and I love to give hugs. A nice couple found me on the side of the road and helped me get healthy. My foster mom has had me for almost a year. I love her for taking such good care of me, but I'm really looking for someone who can play with me and maybe even take me places. I love to go for rides in the car, as long as it’s not to the vet. I'm approximately 3-years-old, vaccinated, spayed, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I'm a Treeing Walker Hound so I have a big voice and I’m not afraid to use it. Are you looking for a loving friend with energy? I'm your girl! Make sure you have plenty of stuffed toys for me to rip up because that’s my second favorite thing after riding in the car. If you would like to meet me and see if I’d be a good fit for your family, contact my foster mom by emailing roseysweezers7@aol.com. ♥
◄Well, I'm not El Chapo but you can call me El Chaco. I am my brother's keeper (he’s pictured below). When our dad passed away, I knew that it would forever be my job to watch over my brother, Wolfie. Truth is, I get a little nervous when we are separated (let's keep that between us). Anyway, we have been with our foster mom for 2-years now and Wolfie and I just want to have a place of our own. I don’t really care much for other dogs besides my brother, but Wolfie would play with another dog. We are such good boys and we have a lot of love to give. We are vaccinated, neutered, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. We love being outside because we have such thick fur and we even like it when it’s cold outside. Wolfie and I would love to be a part of your family. If you’d like to meet us, please email our foster mom at roseysweezers7@aol.com. ♥
►What's up! My name is Wolfie (because I kinda look like one). My brother, Chaco, and I have been in rescue for almost 2-years. He’s pictured above. I love my foster mama but my brother and I would really like a yard to run around in and a couch to cuddle on. I love being outside and I love my sloth stuffed animal (I take it everywhere with me). We have a lot of fur because we are Husky/Shepherd/Lab mixes. My brother and I have to stay together because we are bonded and both depend on each other. We have never been separated and don't want to start now! We used to live with our dad but he passed away and someone took us to the shelter. We were so scared there. Our foster mom took us home and we are much happier now. We are both 5 to 6-years-old, vaccinated, neutered, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. We are so ready for a family of our own. Do you have enough love for us both? To meet us, contact our foster mom by emailing roseysweezers7@aol.com. ♥
