OBITUARY

JAMES PAUL PULLEY

September 26, 1959 – January 5th, 2025

James Paul Pulley, affectionately known as Paul, was born on September 26, 1959, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late James Willard Pulley and Ann Richardson Pulley. He was the youngest of two children, preceded by his sister, Gail.

As a child, Paul was known for his bright mind and warm smile, even as he faced the challenges of severe asthma. Despite these difficulties, he excelled academically and displayed a natural talent for chess and board games. Paul spent his early years in Boston before his family relocated to Spring Hope, North Carolina, in 1967. It was there that he briefly joined the Little League, sharing his father’s love of baseball. In 1971, the Pulley family moved to Deptford, New Jersey, where Paul graduated from Deptford High School in 1977.

After high school, Paul enlisted in the Navy, a path he was passionate about but ultimately could not pursue due to his health. Returning to New Jersey, Paul welcomed his first child, Shannon, with his high school love, Julie. He later returned to Boston, where he met and married Michele Moore. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared interests, including roller skating, movies, and family gatherings. They had three children: James Paul Jr., Shauna, and Jamal.

Paul was a devoted father and grandfather who believed deeply in the importance of family. While life brought its share of challenges, Paul cherished his children and grandchildren and worked to maintain meaningful relationships with them. Known for his love of reading, football, and his sharp wit, Paul brought joy and laughter to those who knew him.

In his later years, Paul found love again with Andrea, whose memory remained dear to him after her passing.

James Paul Pulley is survived by his children, Shannon, James Jr., Shauna, and Jamal; his seven grandchildren; his sister, Gail; his wife, Michele Moore Pulley; and a host of loving cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Paul’s journey through life was marked by intelligence, resilience, and love for his family. He will be remembered for his kind spirit, unwavering devotion, and the countless cherished memories he created with those he loved.
