Rashaud Dru Pettway Sr. gained his wings Monday, September 30, 2024 at the young age of 43 at home in Dorchester, MA. Rashaud, fondly known to many as "Rizz", "Shaudo" and "Slink Parker" was born on March 6, 1981, in Boston, MA, to Sharon Pettway Moody and Irving Moody Jr.
As a child Rashaud loved wrestling, music and most of all basketball. He played for the Roxbury YMCA, his high school and he was a part of No Books No Ball league, which he affectionately passed on to his son Rashaud Jr. Rashaud shared a close bond with his "Big" cousin Mike. With them being born two days a part they were raised as brothers, and if you saw one you saw the other. Rashaud and Mike shared matching outfits, birthday parties and punishments. He attended Lincoln Sudbury class of 99 as a Metco student. As a teenager Rashaud would meet his best friend Scott, his home would become a second home. You never wanted to be in the crosshairs of their jokes and obnoxious laughter. Rashaud would go on to meet Dreya and the rest was history. They shared an amazing 24-year bond and from that they raised two amazing children Kyla and Rashaud Jr. Rashaud's greatest and proudest accomplishment was being a dad. He was the cool parent, passing on his love for Polo, Project Pat and sneakers.
In 2020 Rashaud was diagnosed with stage four kidney failure. He fought hard to find the silver lining and became closer to God, his family and friends and even started started sky diving with his friend Nick. Rashaud had an undeniable
energy and unmatched loyalty to his loved ones. Once he warmed up and started talking, he wasn't stopping. Rashaud had a way with the ladies, young and old, affectionately greeting them with his famous "sweetheart". His laugh was infectious and his stories were endless. He was loved and he will be deeply missed.
Rashaud is preceded in death by his grandparents Lizzye Pettway Steward, Nathaniel Steward, Alice & Irving Moody Sr., aunts and uncles, Alice "Peaches" Moody, Amanda Holt, and Bruce "Peanut" Moody. He is survived by his mother Sharon Pettway Moody, Father Irving Moody Jr. (Stephanie), Grandfather Charles Pettway (Alice). His sister Vanisha Gregory, His children Kyla Allen and Rashaud Dru Pettway Jr. Aunts and Uncles: Shelia Pettway Harper (Eggerton), Carlton Pettway (Patricia), Cassandra Pettway Johnson (George), Gary Pettway (Dorthy), Pamela Pettway & Kim Pettway, Angela Nock (Troy), Jacqueline Smith, and Gerald Moody. Cousins: Michael Pettway, Tremaine Washington, Carlton Pettway II (Karen), Richmond Johnson, Taymara Harris-Pettway (Shakira), Gary Pettway II, Jamal Pettway, Chyna Johnson, Shaakira Harper, Amber Whitehead, Brittany Burton, Brianna Burton, Reece Pettway, Reginald Foster, Jonathan Pettway, Sharon (Neise) Pettway, Keesha Moody, Darnell Moody, Troy Nock Jr. Omar Jackson, Marcus Moody, Latisha Holt, Michelle Holt-Gavin, Donald Holt Jr., Cameron Wilson, Demetrius Little, Dimesha Hudle and of host of extended family and friends.
