Sunrise Sunset MARCH 2 1952 – DECEMBER 5, 2024
On December 5, 2024, Kenneth William Herbert passed from this realm of life to the next, leaving an irreplaceable void in his family. Kenneth was born on March 2, 1952 in Montserrat, West Indies. He immigrated to the United States in the fall of 1968 with his parents Joseph "Mas' Joe" Herbert and Bridget Estelle "Aunt Sissy" Herbert along with 7 of his 9 siblings (Jim, Helen, Margaret, George, Jane, Peter, and Florence). As a tenacious teenager he finished high school and quickly obtained employment, determined to help care for his younger siblings. After the birth of his last brother Richard, he was officially a big brother to five, and took on the responsibility of ensuring they all felt cherished with much pride.
As a young man in the U.S. he reconnected with the woman who would later become his wife, Charlotte Elizabeth Herbert. Together they built a loving home and had three children (Lisa, Derick and Kevin). Kenneth wore several hats over the course of his life, including that of a cook at Boston Hospital in the 80's, a fine point he was not afraid to joke about while manning the BBQ at family gatherings. Ultimately, he found his passion as a Boston Cab driver. Kenneth built his own business, Windy Hill Cab Inc., from hard work and diligence to his craft. He operated his cab for over three decades in the city of Boston, MA. He took seriously the responsibility of guiding his clients through his beloved city. Kenneth was steadfast in the study of his craft and took joy in interacting with clients and friends at Boston Logan Airport's taxi pool. He was devoted to his family in every other moment of his life.
Kenneth loved reading, fast planes, a good western movie, music, and most of all his grandchildren (Aiden and Aaron). He is predeceased by his siblings, Martha, Jim, Helen, George, and Margaret. He leaves behind to treasure his memory and honor his name: 3 children, 4 siblings, 2 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and dear friends. He was always the best person to sit, talk and laugh with. Everyone who knew him appreciated his strong, calm, and loving demeanor. His family will always be grateful for his guidance, love and ability to always turn the most complicated problems into simple solutions with a smile and a tip of his hat. Kenneth will be deeply missed.
