Deacon Carl Sisson Sunrise June 24, 1951

Sunset November 4, 2024

Deacon Carl Sisson, 73, of Boston, MA, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024.

Born on June 24, 1951, in New Orleans, LA, to Yvonne Johnson, Carl lived a life of service, joy, and love. He worked in construction before moving to Boston, where he became a firefighter, courageously serving until an injury from a second-floor fall during a fire led to his early retirement. Carl then found his passion as a school bus driver, a role he embraced for over 30 years, becoming a father figure to countless children across Boston.

Carl and June were active members of the Warren Street Baptist Church in Roxbury, where they both serve on the Diaconate Board under the Leadership of Rev. Irvin Whitlow.

Carl was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, known for his smile, humor, and wisdom. He cherished bike riding, fishing, barbecuing, DJing, and planning adventures with his grandchildren. His gumbo, pancakes, and love for bacon earned him the nickname “Master Willie.” A lover of Mardi Gras and Carnival, Carl’s joy for life touched everyone he met, leaving a legacy of kindness and care.

He is survived by his devoted wife, June Sisson; his siblings Brenda Sisson, Pamela Sisson-Singleton, and Kevin (Marcelle) Sisson; his children Tashiba, and Carl Jr , his step children Mechelle, Alicia, Trisha; grandchildren Augustus, Gennaia, Lindon, Jacob, Keanna, Shaunte, Tychi, Mechelle, Alishia, Alyssa, Maya, Malachi, Aaron; and many great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Yvonne Johnson, and brothers Ira and Daryl Sisson.
