PSALM 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

LUKE 1:11-17

Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense.

12 When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear.

13 But the angel said to him:

“Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John.

14 He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth,

15 for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born.

16 He will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God.

17 And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

OBITUARY

Christopher Shawn Allen, Jr. was born on June 1, 2002 to Christopher and Demia Allen

Chris, affectionately known as "CJ" spent a lot of his early years playing Pop Warner Football including going to the National championships in 2013. He also played little league baseball and basketball with MABC and No Books No Ball where he was a member of the 3-point Foundation. Chris attended St. Patrick's School through 7th grade then Melrose Middle/High School. CJ participated in 2 winning Football State Championship teams at Melrose High and graduated in 2020 in the midst of Covid.

In 2020, CJ started his own landscaping business, CJ's Landscaping. He was so excited to apply to the plumbers union earlier this year and learned that he was accepted while he was in the hospital. He planned to use his business knowledge to run a successful business once he had developed his plumbing skills. He thoroughly enjoyed his current job as a valet driver. He loved cars and people so the position was very suiting.

CJ was best known for a personality that could light up a room and for being a genuine person. CJ enjoyed playing video games, attending sporting events and hanging out and traveling with both his friends and family. CJ was a model big brother and son and had a fashion sense that gave him a style and swag like no other.

CJ leaves to cherish in his memory: his parents, Demia and Christopher

Shawn Allen, Sr.; sisters Demya and Delia Allen and younger brother Caleb Allen; grandparents Jerome & Rosa Allen (Boston), David & Diedre Piazza (Boston) & Chris Little (Pomona, CA); great-grand parents, Carolyn "GGma" Wells and Ed Bufford, Emogene McRae, and Majorie Little, all of Boston; his Furr babies, Bella & Bailey, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends.

CJ passed away on June 8, 2023.

CJ will be greatly missed and forever holds a special place in all of our hearts.

O B I T U A R Y

HEY THERE SONSHINE,

Can’t say I saw this coming at all. I, the lover of words and grammar, am at a complete loss of words. There are none to express the emptiness I feel, the longing I have to hear you call me up and say “Hey Beautiful, just thinking about you and wanted to know I love you so much.”

My heart wrenches for you to come and ask me for some energy or what I’m cooking. This is so unfair. I remember when you were first diagnosed, we were so nervous about being in such uncharted territory but I told you then that my energy was the first thing you ever experienced so I was going to muster up all the energy and prayer I could to share through your body with the hopes of healing you. Energy just became our thing. We even let Daddy in on it which was super cool. I pray that you felt my energy through your transition as well. Now that I’m in a place where I ache for you so badly, I pray that you give me your energy for strength and healing. Envelop me with your love and warmth. Visit me in my dreams, speak to my heart, send me signs that I know you’re there. There are so many things that I will remember... I remember praying for you before you were even conceived. I prayed while you were in my belly and every day after you were born. I remember praying with you. You were my miracle but everybody’s baby. You used to awe people with how well you could spell, or with your math skills at such a young age. You had “The Midas Touch”. Everything you attempted you were good at, sometimes without even trying. You were a good athlete, comedian, competitive as they come, sports connoisseur, amazing friend, stand up person, fantastic brother, and the best son we could have asked for. Your smile...your silly laugh... You did things your way, at your pace. You were calm , cool, and collected at all times. I will remember you just coming to sit beside me, no words were spoke yet we’d have an entire conversation.

Your love and energy is incredible and is palpable through realms. I realize throughout life, we’ve taught you skills and lessons to be able to navigate through life when we leave but never once could we have imagined living without you. It’s unfathomable and I don’t know how to make it work. You are so ingrained in everything we do. I will miss the love you had for me. You always made me feel like the most special Mom ever! We had this thing where one of us would say “I love you", the other would say “I love you more", the next reply would be “impossible”, and lastly “it’s certain!” Well, buddy, it’s absolutely certain that I will love you through a million lifetimes.

I have no idea how this new version of life will be but I’m not necessarily looking forward to it. I know I’ll be a fraction of the person I was because a piece of me is missing. Because of who you are, I’m sure you’ve already found a crew and are running around having a blast. Just don’t forget to watch over us down here. I miss you so much it takes my breath away. However, each passing day brings me closer to you. I can’t wait for the day we meet again.

Love you forever and ever, Mama
