Design Village is an annual competition held by the Department of Architecture at Cal Poly SLO. This year involved all 1st and 2nd year architecture students, 1st year architecture engineering students, community college students, and independent participants.
“Build a structure with minimal waste and construction that can house all team members for two nights at the top of the Poly Canyon (Architecture Graveyard).”
The main concept is the experiencing the site differently throughout the structure. The front is smaller, containing and framing the view. As one moves through, the framing gets larger and allows the visitor to see the area differently through each frame. Finally at the end, the full site is revealed.
