Our fragile world, the UK Pauline Moon May 2022

Organisations campaigning for action to tackle the climate emergency are clear that more needs to be done, with more urgency. The impacts of climate change are visible and ever present for some people, for example, damaging changes to weather and rising sea levels. However for many people, the impacts of climate change are often invisible. As we travel through the British landscape, the damage being wreaked by climate change is not necessarily present in our vision, unless we have knowledge that we can use to decode what we see. Drawing on my archive of photographs that I have taken of the British landscape, rural and urban, I am interested in making work that speaks visibly about damage to the planet caused by climate change, as a reminder of the emergency.
