In the video I mention Forest Bathing. I could not think of the word I was looking for. I said negative electrons and I meant negative ions. Barefoot forest walks… yummy healing energy. You can see the aura of trees when you walk in the woods. I will talk more about that next week with the Earth Element.
There are 3 doshas / constitutions in Ayurvedic Wellness. Ayurveda is the sister science to Yoga and Vedic Astrology. This system of Ayurveda is from India, is about 3000 years old, and is their natural system of medicine for balancing health. The term Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit words ayur (life) and veda (science or knowledge). • • •
Pitta: fire and water Vata: air and ether Kapha: earth and water
I was asked for information on how to balance the doshas through food choices to best nourish the body. This article, from Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Massachusetts, is a simple start. Many books on dosha eating and cookbooks for dosha are all about foods one would eat in India. This is fine, however, I belief translating this information to a whole food diet of the area one lives is more sensible. That is literally just my opinion. If someone wants to change up their cooking to incorporate Indian style food… well, please invite me over on occasion! I am going to do an ayurvedic consult taste test with Kelly Burnham of Flying Lotus Yoga in Canton. I will not recommend anyone I have not worked with so I will taste test her first and be better able to suggest her to appropriate people. I will also get book recommendations, if possible, and pass that along. I am looking for a book that translates the wisdom to a whole food diet typical of what is available to us locally and regionally.
