CELEBRATING LOCAL ARTISTS

New British indie outfit The Mease are bursting out of the emerging Derby music scene with a jaunty riff-laden brand of melodic rock n roll.

From artists and musicians to athletes and entrepreneurs, every community is home to a wealth of talented individuals who contribute to the vibrancy and culture of the area. Celebrating these local talents is not only a way to recognize their hard work and accomplishments, but also a way to inspire others and foster a sense of pride in our community.

One way that the Erewash community is recognizing and celebrating these talents is through events and showcases that highlight the diversity and creativity of the area. This festival is

doing just that. It ranges from art shows and musical performances to food festivals and contemporary arts, giving local talents a platform to showcase their skills and connect with others who share their passion.

This event is great for the local economy and tourism and creates a sense of community and pride among residents. By coming together to celebrate our local talent, people can see first-hand the incredible things that their neighbours’ are capable of and feel a sense of connection to the community.

I’m a self-taught musician. I first started performing at open mic nights in 2021 at the age of 15. Going to my first open mic sparked an even stronger love in me for music and performing.

Nathan Brown and Reece, the band’s songwriting duo, have been crafting their signature sound for four years. Together, they have produced an impressive catalog of over 50 songs, which have gained recognition on platforms like SoundCloud and mainstream music channels. Drawing inspiration from an eclectic mix of musical influences including Arctic Monkeys, White Stripes, Kings of Leon, David Bowie, the Beatles, Nirvana, Radiohead, and Bob Dylan, their unique blend of rock resonates deeply with listeners.

Shadows of a Silhouette’s growing popularity led them to the airwaves of Dean Jackson’s renowned radio show, BBC Introducing for the East Midlands. They recently graced the stage at The Metronome in Nottingham, courtesy of their connection with Dean. In a defining moment, they were also granted the opportunity to support BBC Introducing on the Quarry stage at YNOT Festival in 2022, entertaining an audience of around 2000 people.
