June 26, 11

a.m.

Join Dr. Frank Lee, an ophthalmologist with Nevada Eye Physicians, on June 26 and learn about the symptoms and treatments for Cataracts, one of the leading causes of visual decline in people above the age 50.

Human eyes have a natural lens inside the eye that helps focus and see things. Due to the natural aging process, the natural lens can become cloudy and interfere with vision.

If you have difficulty with activities, such as night driving, watching TV, reading, computer work etc., you should have your eyes checked.

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada's (RTC) paratransit service is a shared-ride, door-to-door program available for those who are functionally unable to independently use the RTC's fixed-route system either all of the time, temporarily or under certain circumstances. All paratransit customers are eligible and encouraged to use fixed- route services. Paratransit I.D. card holders can ride any fixed-route or express route free of charge.

Eligibility - You may be eligible for the service if, because of a disability:

• You cannot independently travel to/from fixed route stops.

• You could use an accessible fixed route vehicle, but the route that would be used is not accessible.

• You cannot independently navigate the system even though you can board a bus.

Eligibility for RTC ADA Paratransit Services is not a medical decision or something that can be prescribed by your physician. It is primarily a transportation decision. All who request eligibility for paratransit service must be certified, which may entail an in-person interview and possible functional assessment. Each applicant is evaluated independently based on

ADA requirements.

Certification

• To begin the process, call 702-676-1815 and request an RTC Paratransit Application. (You will receive a self-addressed envelope to return the completed application by mail.)

• Please wait 7 days from date you return the form and call 702-6761815 to determine whether they will require you to have an in-person evaluation.

• If you are approved, you will pay a reduced fare when using Paratransit Services.

Paratransit Ride Programs

• Regular RTC Paratransit – This service requires registration at least one day in advance and your wait time is a 30-minute window The fare is at least $3 per ride. You can make reservations by calling Customer Service at 702-228-4800.

• Ride On-Demand Program allows customers to schedule a ride within minutes, with as little as a 5-minute wait-time for a pick-up. Benefits include being able to book trips, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week using the Lyft or RTC On-Demand website or Apps or by calling the Customer Service line at 702-676-1801.
