Kataibu Autism School Kata /ka·ta/ (n): said; talk Ibu (n): woman who gave birth to someone; mother Kataibu means “as mother said”, inspired by the story of an autistic child who is always loved by his mother Autism is a serious developmental disorder that impairs the ability to communicate and interact, also affects the senses. Often, they distracted by environmental conditions that could not be controlled by them. This proposal aimed to accommodate autism needs for a comfortable space to learn. Carried the idea of “Manmade and Nature as teacher and caretaker.”, The design utilizes natural existence to provide a serene atmosphere with a built environment that provides preserved exploration freedom so as to provide focus and a sense of control for autistic children while learning.

Senior Highschool Stood on a steep site on Northern Bandung, the senior high school building formed by longwise-arranged classrooms with the class grade zoning separated by floor levels. An innercourt inserted between two splitting elongated masses connected by edging mass functioning as school canteen, creating a looping circulation inside the school. The classroom arrangement is spaced, creating void gaps that separate the classrooms which perform as wind tunnels and viewing frames transpiercing the building, the gaps represent the break times between the school routines. The school likened to a massive classroom divided into small semi-open classroom spaces oriented to the innercourt. The semiopen classrooms intended to spatially connect to each other, as they also simplify the school control.

Musical Theater As a form of appreciation to Indonesia music talents in choir and orchestra, such as The Resonanz Children Choir that won an international choral competition in 2017. The design was intend to accommodate more young talents and attract more connoisseurs to musical art. The Musical Theater stands on a 13.000 square-meter site located in Kota Baru Parahyangan complex about 15km to the Northwest of Bandung center point. The concert hall can hold 1000 people in an arena seating configuration while the lobby area provide indoor and outdoor spaces. Conceptually, the design want to give a memorable experience to every audience who comes, like a song that is sometimes hummed.

Located on Merdeka Street, Bandung, the proposed city hotel initiates “Pedestrian Oriented” theme by connecting two sides of the city, the one side of shady North Bandung with the old town area in the city center. The City Hotel is planned to be a pioneer to actualize Bandung as a walkable city by applying a circulation that penetrates and divides the site so public pedestrian can step through the building without disturbing the privacy of hotel residents. On the opposite side of the hotel, there is a herbal café that provides Indonesian beverages. The hotel façade is dominated by arches that represent the colonial style, while the hotel tower is hidden within curtain walls that depict the atmosphere of the old Bandung city, where there are not many tall buildings.

Sea-Nomad A proposal for the new tourist information center in Lombok Island. Lombok is famous for its exotic island tourist destinations. The design is inspired by the native tribe living in the vicinity, the Bajau or famously called the sea nomad, which moves by sailing along the seas of Indonesia to the Phillippines. This design makes an analogy of a boat or a ship which is considered as a home by the Bajau tribe. Each walled space is arranged in the middle creating a surrounding circulation like the deck of a ship, while the roof resembles the shape of an overturned ship.

Kiputih House Kiputih House is a small minimalist tropical modern style house on a 36 square-meter parcel located on Kiputih Street, Bandung. Kiputih House is designed for a young family with one main bedroom adjoining the child’s bedroom in a two stories house. The house is strategically located at a point close to health and education facilities. The house implementing a bio-evaporation system to reduce the room temperature, supported by a cross-ventilation system through the house with a plant grid on the main façade. Thus, this design is expected to provide comfort and reliability to enhance the living quality even though it has limited space.
