North Node in Cancer

Karma calls. How? Well, this is because the Nodal axis has switched Signs. On the 7th November 2018 the North Node moved into Cancer and the South Node into Capricorn.

Here they will stay for the next 18 months until May 5th, 2020.

The relevance of Nodes A lunar node is either of the two orbital nodes of the Moon, that is, the two points at which the orbit of the Moon intersects the ecliptic. Lunar Nodes always move backwards or invert. In fact, they move in the opposite to the direction of the planets. We can think of them as in a state of permanent retrograde. This is why Lunar Nodes are considered to be connected to our Past Lives (South Node) and Future Karma (North Node).

Karma and Closure The North Node has been in Leo from 2017-2018, this energy was very much about opening ourselves up, and living fiercely, bravely and authentically. With the North Node moving into Cancer however, we may feel more drawn to comfort, closeness and nurturing our family and home.In fact, we could all benefit from this initiation of soul core healing through our emotions. If we have Cancer placements in our own Personal Horoscope Chart, we could see our pasts coming back to us.

This can include family, housing, land or our hometown as it was in; 2000-2001, 1981-1983, 1962-1964, 1944-1945 (even before we were born) this is karma, and closure. This could cause a change in person-kinds' direction as the North Node in Cancer can represent new directions, some of which could be a consequence of the destructive actions that occurred in the entire year during 2018.

The Dragons Head & Tail.

The North Node is also called the Dragon’s Head so we could also say that here is what we need to feed and show attention to. We could be feeling hungry for new experiences, and slurping these down, like a giant cosmic smoothie.

And what goes in must come out and to that inevitable end, the South Node is known as the Dragons’ Tail. This is represented by the South Node in this case it is in now in earthy Capricorn.

With the Nodes moving from Leo and Aquarius into Cancer and Capricorn a new dynamic is at play.

Firstly, we are shifting from Fire (Leo) and Air (Aquarius) both Fixed Qualities to Water (Cancer) and Earth (Capricorn) both Cardinal or leadership influences. With Earth representing our material plane and Water our emotional selves. So this change from more stubborn, inflexible Fixed signs to energetic Cardinal ones could see us feeling less resistant to these up-and-coming changes.

Cancer Sweet or Fierce?

Cancer is known as the Crab and is said to be sweet and soft on the inside, but they can be hard and resilient on the outer shell, plus don’t forget, they do have pincers! Cancer may well like to curl up in a warm home reading a good book, but they will also fiercely defend those they love. They are also superb managers. During this transition we must learn what is truly having a positive impact on our lives, and let go of what is not. We could see ourselves moving away from ideologies that we once thought were important such as; status and profession and instead focus more on connection and belonging.

North Node in Cancer and the home Whilst the North Node moves through Cancer, there may be more emphasis about homes and homelessness and the need for everyone to have a roof over their head, as we collectively strive to make sure that everyone feels a sense of protection and belonging. On a personal level, home security and the need to feel at home in the place we live will gain more prominence.

Cancer and well-being The Sign of Cancer rules the digestion so this Nodal transit could well see us being more drawn to home-cooked, organic foods. Self-sustainability may become more of a talked about topic and we may in general, become more conscious of where our food is coming from. This could cause a shift in the way people shop, with many of us choosing to buy from local suppliers, markets or even grow our own..
