Young Ste. Anne Golfer Visits Winners Circle A young golfer from Ste. Anne was among six divisional champions recently at the MJTPGA of Manitoba Junior Championship after Canada’s number-one played junior golf tour held the season-ending two-day tournament on August 24 and 25. Fourteen-year-old Kate Gregoire won the MJT-PGA of Manitoba U15 Girls Champion’s title. This was her third MJT of the year after shooting 98-88 (186). “The main reason for my victory was just to come out and have fun,” said Gregoire. She also won the Comeback Award for Under 15 girls. Seventeen-year-old Stefan Lavallee, from Steinbach came third with a score of 75-79 (154). Justin Normandeau from La Broquerie won the Bantam Boy’s Long Drive Competition. In total, 85 junior golfers participated in the MJT-PGA of Manitoba Junior Championship, which took place at the Rossmere Country Club, in Winnipeg. The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour is Canada’s number-one played Junior Golf Tour as well as the only national junior tour, run exclusively by PGA of Canada Professionals and the ‘Road to College Golf’ in Canada.

Kate Gregoire from Ste. Anne won the U15 Girls Championship Title at the MJT-PGA of Manitoba Junior Championship in August. MJT members in the province have now earned points throughout the season and await invitations to the prestigious MJT Boston Pizza National Championship at Reunion Golf Resort, Kissimmee, FLA, November 6-8, where a number of Division 1 college coaches will attend.

Food Bank Running The new center is located at 132 Centrale Ave. The center can be reached at 204-371-4984. The center is open every other Wednesday from 2 pm to 4 pm. The dates open for the rest of 2015 are Sept. 2, 16 & 30, October 14 & 28, November 11 & 25, and December 9 & 23. If you would like to help out with food donations there are bins are located at Ste. Anne Builders Supply, Ste. Anne Groceries, Ste. Anne Catholic Church, Ste. Anne Dayspring Fellowship Church and Burnell’s Food Plus in Richer. Suggestions of food needed are canned tuna, salmon, chicken, turkey, and vegetables (peas, green beans, corn, lentilles), canned fruits, canned stew, chili, pork & beans, peanut butter, infant food (puréed chicken, beef, cereal, milk – with iron), pasta (spaghetti, macaroni), rice, spaghetti sauce, canned tomatoes, cereal (with fiber and not sugar coated) and canned soups.
