Splash Park Fundraiser Purses Symposium Fun for All Have you heard? Rita Lambert and Carmelle Bernard are preparing a Purses Symposium from May 8 - 10 from 12:30 pm to 2 pm at the Salon Margerite d’Youville Villa Youville, 210 Central Ave., Ste-Anne. And YOU my friends are invited to create an original purse with personality and attitude. Each entry must have a name for your purse, a short description, and

your name on the back of the entry. Prizes will be awarded at 1 pm on Friday, May 10. To register for the event, please call Carmelle Bernard at 204-422-5624 ext. 234 no later than April 30. You can use anything you can get your hands on to create your functional “piece of art”: paper, fabric, wire, metal, wood, whatever your little heart desires.

Hypnotist James Grant tests the group of volunteers vying to become his “assistants” for the evening.

Hypnotist James Grant came out to maximise fundraising efforts for the community Splash Pad and Skateboard Park. Grant opened up the stage for volunteers to kick off the show. He started shortly after by putting candidates into a deep sleep. Next he told them that he was giving them all balloons filled with money and they have to hold on to them with all there might and not to let it pop or they would loose all the money inside. As the night went on Grant had a few people up and playing an air piano like rock stars and flirting with the audience “It was a fun night,” said Kim, a victim of Grant’s control. “I wanted to try and get hypnotized and at first I felt really tired and relaxed but I was trying to hold on to my balloon but when it

popped, I was very mad and I woke up. So I guess I was a bit hypnotised because I wasn’t really holding a balloon, was I?” Jake from Blumenort said “I came out to support the community fundraiser and I was a disbeliever until I volunteered to get hypnotised. I was amazed at how I had no idea what I was doing on stage. I was so relaxed and felt as if I was sleeping the whole time.” Bartender Jerry and wife Bridget also went up and tried to submit to Grant but unfortunately a camera flash snapped them out of if. Organizers said it was a great success and had a great turn out. (Not sure if the hypnotist had something to do with it but the winner of the 50/50 draw donated the winnings back to the fundraiser.)

A Little Laugh... Church Bulletin Bloopers Ladies, don’t forget the rummage sale. It is a good chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Bring your husbands. The peacemaking meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled due to a conflict. Barbara C. remains in the hospital and needs blood donors for more transfusions. She is also having trouble sleeping and requests tapes of Pastor Jack’s sermons.
