Lion Club Kite Festival

The Ste. Anne Lions Club put on a fantastic kite festival for their first year.

The wind was just right for kite flying The Lions offered the community a fun affordable family event, you could bring your own kite or purchase one on site, Get your face painted and have lunch everything was priced at $1.

"We were thrilled to see so many young people out getting there kite up is the air for the first time ever, people came out as far as Ontario to come enjoy some family fun. One family made their own kite at home for the event and I couldn’t believe it was up about 300 feet. The Ste. Anne lions club looks forward to do it again next year". Said organizer Rick McPherson.

The Lions try and put on monthly Family events any funds raised at the events goes back into the community where it is needed most. For more information on the lions club or to become a member email steannelionsclub@gmail.com

Upcoming Events September 9th Free monthly bus trips to the Casinos of Winnipeg. Join us for a fun filled day. We leave Steinbach at 8:30 a.m. with additional pickups in Ste. Anne and Paradise Village. Our first stop is McPhillips Street Station in the morning and Club Regent in the afternoon. Must be 18 years of age or older. Prizes, cash and giveaways every trip. Bingo is played on the bus for those wishing to participate. Call Marilyn at 204-326-4939 for more information and to reserve your seat. September 20th Ste. Anne Hotel Golf Tournament the tournament will take place at Oakwood golf course with a 2:30 shot gun start! Afterwards join us for a Bud spud and steak dinner. Entry fee is $85 a person and includes cart. All proceeds will be donated to Children of the Universe Learning Center. Sign up today Call 422-9275.

In this oil painting workshop, you will learn how to use the various brushes and a palette knife. This workshop has been designed for the person who has always wanted to try painting with oils and learn how to use the brushes involved. However, all skill levels are welcome! You will learn ‘wet on wet’ tech-

nique; painting clouds, mountains, water and trees, in the color of your choice: blues, greens or browns! At the end of the workshop you will go home with a complete 12x16 piece you will be proud of! Happy Back-to-School Kids say the funniest things (to teachers)...

Preschool boy asks me to tie his shoes. I ask, "What's the magic word?"

And he excitedly says, "Abracadabra!" He was right, you know.

Teacher: "OK, today we are reading Harry the Dirty Dog." Pre-K boy: "Ugh! I read that book in the ’50s!"

Teacher: "Wow! That's amazing!"

Pre-K boy: "I was alive in the ’50s."

I worked as an assistant teacher at an art school dur-

ing the summer in the elementary-grade studio. These two seven-yearold boys were talking about their ex-girlfriends, which I thought was hilarious, and one said, "She didn't love me for me; she loved me for my money. She was a gold digger." And the other boy replied, "You mean she...?" and mimed picking his nose!

A little girl in after-school care once asked me if I wanted to know what she was thinking about. When I said yes, she calmly said, "Dolphins," and walked away.
