Celebrating 13 years!!!

Pioneer Park Unveiling Members of the Pioneer Committee held a ribbon cutting and dedication to the exhibit to celebrate the “pioneer” families of the area. Community residents, local volunteers, local government gathered for the unveiling of the Pioneer Park on the west end of Ste. Anne to celebrate and honor the original families of the area.

A Summer Focused on Creating Meaningful Moments

The kick-off to summer is often such an exciting time for everyone. This year there are a few factors that may be contributing to the decisionmaking process of what to do this summer for vacations, fun, gatherings, and getaways. With everything fully opened again and lots of options available, it may be tough to navigate and prioritize what to do this summer. Beyond that, it may feel challenging to balance the time to reconnect with friends and family you may not have seen often in the past couple of years, all while giving yourself the time to rest and rejuvenate. The most significant factors may be inflation and high fuel prices right now.

Planning what will work best for you and your family this summer will be to focus on what you CAN do. For many people, travelling to events or road trip vacations may be out of reach due to financial strains, however this doesn’t have to limit you from having one of the best summers of your life! Creating incredible memories doesn’t need to involve spending a lot of money. You will find tremendous value investing

your time and energy in creativity and innovation, as well as leveraging the gifts of others to have those meaningful moments with the ones you love and cherish – and yourself.

Can you…

• Connect with local artists to plan a casual community gathering to share talents and skills?

• Gather a group of friends to plan dinner parties, bonfires, outdoor movie nights, or pajama parties at home?

• Have your kids make a list of cool games, sports, crafts, and activities that they would like to try and then make a calendar to incorporate them into your summer schedules?

• Intentionally disconnect from your devices and the online world to spend quality time engaging and connecting?

You can! Release the pressure to spend money to create moments, and embrace a positive mindset to motivate your creative spirit to bring joy to life this summer!

Little Funk Library

Hi All,

Did you know that July 24th is International Self Care Day? What is self-care exactly you ask... it’s taking care of yourself to stay well. Ok, that’s vague. Staying well means taking care of your whole self physically, mentally, emotionally and for some, spiritually.

Research from 2009 shows that just as little as 6 minutes of reading can start to show signs of reducing stress such as calmed heart rate and muscle relaxation. Reading a non-fiction book not only gives you a place to escape the world for a short period of time, it also shows that it reduces stress by 68%. It helps our brains by improving concentration, empathy and giving a very effective outlet for energy. Also, a good book doesn’t just stop helping us when we put the book down - our brain locks onto the story and holds on to it for ease of revisit. How neat is that?

In support of Self Care, The Little Funk Library will add more non-fiction books and any topics that falls under self-care practices to the library this month. Reminder, you don’t need to leave a book to take a book. I encourage you to take what you will read!
