Town Council Supporting Local Shops

Effective Monday, Feb. 1 the Town of Sainte Anne Mayor and Council have identified the town’s commercial tax base businesses that have had to close their doors or limit normal operations due to Provincial restrictions. For all non-essential services that fall under the Provincial Restart COVID-19, relief funds (not local taxes), Council has made the decision to offer a grant incentive program to our town businesses to promote local focus that will help them with their restart.

“We have identified 8 local business places that have been shut down and need our support and we wanted to [combine it with] something fun and exciting for our residents so they can also benefit in this incentive as well.”

These businesses and discounts are: -T&A Nails (not yet able to open) $10 -Old Number 12 Restaurant $10 -Sainte-Anne Chinese Restaurant $10 -Epic Fitness (not yet able to open) $20 -Pam’s Hair Boutique $20 -Hair on Centrale $20 -Thirsty Cactus Restaurant $10

-Fine Line Tattoo (not yet able to open) $40 Sainte-Anne Town bucks will be allocated with a limit of one per household to town residents in order to be able to spread this out and to ensure that everyone has a chance to get a discount at their chosen business from the list. Sainte-Anne Town Bucks will be in previously listed denomination’s with a maximum available and are on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Ste. Anne Municipality Seek Youth Council Member

Ste. Anne Municipality is looking to encourage youth to become involved in Municipal activities and is accepting applications for the appointed position of Youth Member to sit with Council and participate in Council deliberations.

The Youth Member shall strive to create a positive connection between youth in the community and the increase in overall community vitality and engagement through Council and the Municipality. This includes bringing new ideas and perspectives standard issues and matters with a unique perspective on how to address current issues and challenges.

The Youth Member is not counted for the purpose of determining a quorum or participating in a vote of the council. The Youth Member is not permitted to participate in Council or Committee deliberations that are closed to the public.

Preferred Qualifications, Remunera-

tion and Term: • Must be less than 18 years of age or enrolled as a full time high school student • Voluntary position only with the ability to earn academic credits if available through the applicable education institution.

• The term of office for a Youth Member is to be established with a term that shall not exceed one year.

Watershed Planning Key to Sustainable Management of Natural Resources Dawson Trail – Bob Lagassé, MLA for Dawson Trail, is pleased to highlight funding for the Northeast Red Watershed District 2020-21 budget totalling $310,000 to support conservation and watershed planning and provide a sustainable environment for future generations to enjoy.

“Our PC government is committed to strengthening conservation and ecological planning efforts, as part of our Made-in-Manitoba Climate and Green Plan,” said Lagassé. “The work being accomplished through this funding ensures our community plays our part in keeping Manitoba the cleanest, greenest, and most climate-resilient province in Canada.”

The funds noted come from the core grant funding provided by the province as part of the 3:1 match for municipal contributions under the program. This investment builds on the province’s strong record of investing in the watershed district, including $87,000 from the Conservation Trust for the St. Genevieve Water Retention Project, and $50,000 through the Manitoba Ag Action Fund for the Edie Creek Steambank Stabilization Project.

Blueberries Oat Bran Muffins

This is a delicious and lighter version of a type of oat bran muffin. You could vary the fruit - blueberries, strawberries, canned peaches, etc. They are incredibly delicious served with fresh strawberries.

Yum! Ingredients 1 ½ cups Oat Bran 1 ½ cups Whole Wheat Flour ½ cup Brown Sugar (packed) 2 teaspoons Baking Soda 2 teaspoons Baking Powder 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon ½ teaspoon Salt 1 1/8 cups Applesauce ½ cup Eggs or Substitute 2 tablespoons Canola Oil 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract 1 ½ cups Blueberries ¼ cup Pecans (chopped) ½ cup Granola

Directions 1. Preheat oven to 400. Line a 12 cup muffin pan with paper muffin liners, and spray liners with cooking spray.

2. In a large bowl, mix the oat bran, flour, brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. In a separate bowl, blend the applesauce, egg substitute, canola oil, and vanilla extract. Thoroughly mix the applesauce mixture into the flour mixture. Fold in the blueberries and pecans. Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin cups. Sprinkle batter with granola, and press granola lightly to make it stick.

3. Bake 18 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into a muffin comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.
